1But it happened after a while, in the time of wheat harvest, that Samson visited his wife with a young goat; and he said, “I will go in to my wife into the room.” But her father wouldn’t allow him to go in.
1بعد از مدتی، در موسم دَرَو گندم، شَمشون بزغاله ای را بعنوان هدیه برداشت تا پیش زن خود برود، اما خسرش او را نگذاشت که به خانه داخل شود
2Her father said, “I most certainly thought that you had utterly hated her; therefore I gave her to your companion. Isn’t her younger sister more beautiful than she? Please take her, instead.”
2و گفت: «چون من فکر کردم که تو از او نفرت داری، بنابران او را به رفیقت دادم. خواهر کوچک او مقبولتر است، چرا با او عروسی نمی کنی؟»
3Samson said to them, “This time I will be blameless in regard of the Philistines, when I harm them.”
3شَمشون گفت: «حالا حق دارم که از فلسطینی ها انتقام بگیرم.»
4Samson went and caught three hundred foxes, and took torches, and turned tail to tail, and put a torch in the midst between every two tails.
4پس رفت و سه صد روباه را گرفت و هر جوره را دُم به دُم بست. و بین هردو دُم یک مشعل را قرار داد.
5When he had set the brands on fire, he let them go into the standing grain of the Philistines, and burnt up both the shocks and the standing grain, and also the olive groves.
5بعد مشعل ها را روشن نمود و روباهها را در بین کشتزارهای فلسطینی ها آزاد کرد و خوشه های گندم و باغهای زیتون همه آتش گرفتند.
6Then the Philistines said, “Who has done this?” They said, “Samson, the son-in-law of the Timnite, because he has taken his wife, and given her to his companion.” The Philistines came up, and burnt her and her father with fire.
6فلسطینی ها پرسیدند: «چه کسی این کار را کرده است؟» گفتند: «شَمشون، داماد تِمَنی، زیرا خسرش زن او را به رفیقش داد.» آنگاه فلسطینی ها رفتند و آن زن را همراه پدرش در آتش سوختاندند.
7Samson said to them, “If you behave like this, surely I will be avenged of you, and after that I will cease.”
7شَمشون به آن ها گفت: «حالا که شما این کار را کردید، تا بار دیگر از شما انتقام نکشم، آرام نمی گیرم.»
8He struck them hip and thigh with a great slaughter: and he went down and lived in the cleft of the rock of Etam.
8پس با یک حملۀ شدید یک تعداد زیاد آن ها را بقتل رساند. بعد رفت و در مغارۀ صخرۀ عِیطام ساکن شد.
9Then the Philistines went up, and encamped in Judah, and spread themselves in Lehi.
9فلسطینی ها هم رفتند و در یهودا اردو زده به لَحی حمله کردند.
10The men of Judah said, “Why have you come up against us?” They said, “We have come up to bind Samson, to do to him as he has done to us.”
10مردم یهودا از فلسطینی ها پرسیدند: «چرا به جنگ ما آمده اید؟» آن ها جواب دادند: «ما آمده ایم تا شَمشون را دستگیر کنیم و انتقام خود را از او بگیریم.»
11Then three thousand men of Judah went down to the cleft of the rock of Etam, and said to Samson, “Don’t you know that the Philistines are rulers over us? What then is this that you have done to us?” He said to them, “As they did to me, so have I done to them.”
11آنگاه سه هزار نفر از مردم یهودا در مغارۀ صخرۀ عِیطام پیش شَمشون رفتند و به او گفتند: «آیا خبر نداری که فلسطینی ها بر ما حکومت می کنند؟ این چه کاری است که با ما می کنی؟» شَمشون جواب داد: «همان کاری را که در حق من کردند، من هم در حق شان کردم.»
12They said to him, “We have come down to bind you, that we may deliver you into the hand of the Philistines.” Samson said to them, “Swear to me that you will not fall on me yourselves.”
12آن ها گفتند: «ما آمده ایم که ترا دستگیر کنیم و به دست فلسطینی ها بسپاریم.» شَمشون گفت: «بسیار خوب، اما قول بدهید که خود شما مرا نکشید.»
13They spoke to him, saying, “No; but we will bind you fast, and deliver you into their hand; but surely we will not kill you.” They bound him with two new ropes, and brought him up from the rock.
13آن ها جواب دادند: «ما ترا نمی کشیم. فقط دست و پایت را می بندیم و به دست آن ها می دهیم.» پس آن ها دست و پای شَمشون را با دو ریسمان نَو بستند و از مغاره بیرون بردند.
14When he came to Lehi, the Philistines shouted as they met him: and the Spirit of Yahweh came mightily on him, and the ropes that were on his arms became as flax that was burnt with fire, and his bands dropped from off his hands.
14وقتی شَمشون به لَحی رسید، فلسطینی ها با دیدن او فریاد برآوردند. در همان اثنا روح خداوند بر شَمشون قرار گرفت و ریسمان هائی که با آن ها او را بسته بودند، مثل کتانی که در آتش سوخته شود گردید و بندها از دستهایش فروریخت.
15He found a fresh jawbone of a donkey, and put forth his hand, and took it, and struck a thousand men therewith.
15آنگاه استخوان الاشۀ الاغی را یافت. دست دراز کرد و آنرا گرفت و با آن یک هزار نفر را کشت.
16Samson said, “With the jawbone of a donkey, heaps on heaps; with the jawbone of a donkey I have struck a thousand men.”
16و شَمشون گفت:«با استخوان الاشۀ یک الاغ از کُشته پُشته ساختم،
با استخوان الاشۀ یک الاغ یک هزار مرد را کشتم!»
17It happened, when he had made an end of speaking, that he cast away the jawbone out of his hand; and that place was called Ramath Lehi.
17وقتی حرف خود را تمام کرد، استخوان الاشه را به یکسو انداخت و آنجا را «تپۀ استخوان الاشه» نامید.
18He was very thirsty, and called on Yahweh, and said, “You have given this great deliverance by the hand of your servant; and now shall I die for thirst, and fall into the hand of the uncircumcised?”
18در این وقت شَمشون بسیار تشنه شده بود، پس نزد خداوند دعا کرده، گفت: «امروز به این بنده ات افتخار آنرا دادی که قوم اسرائیل را نجات بدهم. و حالا باید از تشنگی بمیرم و به دست این بیگانگان بیفتم؟»
19But God split the hollow place that is in Lehi, and water came out of it. When he had drunk, his spirit came again, and he revived: therefore its name was called En Hakkore, which is in Lehi, to this day.
19آنگاه خداوند یک خالیگاه را در زمین شگافت و از آن آب جاری شد. و وقتیکه از آن آب نوشید جان تازه گرفت و حالش بجا آمد. به این خاطر آن جا را عین حَقوری (یعنی چشمۀ کسیکه دعا کرد) نامید که تا به امروز در لَحی باقی است.شَمشون در زمان فلسطینی ها مدت بیست سال بر اسرائیل داوری کرد.
20He judged Israel in the days of the Philistines twenty years.
