¹Now after these things, the Lord also appointed seventy others, and sent them two by two ahead of him literally, “before his face” into every city and place, where he was about to come.

¹بعد از این، عیسی خداوند، هفتاد نفر دیگر را تعیین فرمود و آنها را دو نفر دو نفر پیشاپیش خود به شهرها و نقاطی که در نظر داشت از آن ها دیدن نماید فرستاد.

²Then he said to them, “The harvest is indeed plentiful, but the laborers are few. Pray therefore to the Lord of the harvest, that he may send out laborers into his harvest.

²به آنها فرمود: «محصول فراوان است اما کارگر کم، پس از صاحب محصول تقاضا کنید که کارگرانی برای جمع آوری محصول بفرستد.

³ Go your ways. Behold, I send you out as lambs among wolves.

³بروید و بدانید که من شما را مثل بره ها در بین گرگها می فرستم.

⁴ Carry no purse, nor wallet, nor sandals. Greet no one on the way.

⁴هیچ کیسه یا خرجین یا بوت با خود نبرید و در بین راه با کسی سلام و علیک نکنید.

⁵ Into whatever house you enter, first say, ‘Peace be to this house.’

⁵به هر خانه ای که داخل می شوید اولین کلام شما این باشد: «سلام بر این خانه باد.»

⁶ If a son of peace is there, your peace will rest on him; but if not, it will return to you.

⁶اگر کسی اهل صلح و صفا در آنجا باشد: سلام شما بر او قرار خواهد گرفت وگرنه آن سلام به خود شما باز خواهد گشت.

⁷ Remain in that same house, eating and drinking the things they give, for the laborer is worthy of his wages. Don’t go from house to house.

⁷در همان خانه بمانید و از آنچه پیش شما می گذارند بخورید و بنوشید، زیرا کارگر مستحق مزد خود است. خانه به خانه نگردید.

⁸ Into whatever city you enter, and they receive you, eat the things that are set before you.

⁸وقتی به شهری وارد می شوید و از شما استقبال می کنند، غذایی را که برای شما تهیه می کنند بخورید.

⁹ Heal the sick who are therein, and tell them, ‘The Kingdom of God has come near to you.’

⁹بیماران آنجا را شفا دهید و بگوئید: «پادشاهی خدا به شما نزدیک شده است.»

¹⁰ But into whatever city you enter, and they don’t receive you, go out into its streets and say,

¹⁰وقتی به شهری وارد می شوید و روی خوشی به شما نشان نمی دهند به داخل کوچه های آن شهر بروید و بگویید:

¹¹ ‘Even the dust from your city that clings to us, we wipe off against you. Nevertheless know this, that the Kingdom of God has come near to you.’

¹¹«خاکی را هم که از شهر شما به پاهای ما چسبیده است، پیش روی شما پاک می کنیم ولی این را بدانید که پادشاهی خدا نزدیک شده است.»

¹² I tell you, it will be more tolerable in that day for Sodom than for that city.

¹²بدانید که روز آخر برای سدوم بیشتر قابل تحمل خواهد بود تا برای آن شهر.

¹³ “Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the mighty works had been done in Tyre and Sidon which were done in you, they would have repented long ago, sitting in sackcloth and ashes.

¹³وای بر تو ای خورَزین، وای بر تو ای بیتسَیدا، اگر معجزاتی که در شما انجام شد در صور و صیدون می شد مدتها پیش از این، خطِ بینی کشیده، خاکستر نشین می شدند، و توبه می کردند.

¹⁴ But it will be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon in the judgment than for you.

¹⁴ولی روز داوری برای صور و صیدون بیشتر قابل تحمل خواهد بود تا برای شما.

¹⁵ You, Capernaum, who are exalted to heaven, will be brought down to Hades. Hades is the lower realm of the dead, or Hell.

¹⁵و اما تو ای کَپَرناحوم، می خواستی سر به آسمان بکشی؟ به دوزخ سرنگون خواهی شد.

¹⁶ Whoever listens to you listens to me, and whoever rejects you rejects me. Whoever rejects me rejects him who sent me.”

¹⁶هرکه به شما گوش دهد، به من گوش داده است؛ هرکه شما را رد کند مرا رد کرده است و هرکه مرا رد کند فرستندۀ مرا رد کرده است.»

¹⁷The seventy returned with joy, saying, “Lord, even the demons are subject to us in your name!”

¹⁷آن هفتاد شاگرد، خوش و خرم بازگشتند و عرض کردند: «خداوندا، با ذکر نام تو حتی ارواح ناپاک تسلیم ما می شوند!»

¹⁸He said to them, “I saw Satan having fallen like lightning from heaven.

¹⁸عیسی جواب داد: «من دیدم چطور شیطان مانند برق از آسمان سقوط کرد.

¹⁹ Behold, I give you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy. Nothing will in any way hurt you.

¹⁹من به شما قدرت داده ام که مارها و گژدم ها و تمام قوای دشمن را پایمال نمائید و هرگز هیچ چیز به شما صدمه ای نخواهد رسانید،

²⁰ Nevertheless, don’t rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.”

²⁰ولی از این که ارواح تسلیم شما می شوند خوشی نکنید، بلکه شاد باشید که نامهای شما در عالم بالا ثبت شده است.»

²¹In that same hour Jesus rejoiced in the Holy Spirit, and said, “I thank you, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that you have hidden these things from the wise and understanding, and revealed them to little children. Yes, Father, for so it was well-pleasing in your sight.”

²¹در آن لحظه روح القدس خوشی بزرگی به عیسی بخشید و عیسی گفت: «ای پدر، ای خداوند آسمان و زمین، تو را سپاس می گویم که این چیزها را از خردمندان و دانایان پنهان نموده به کودکان آشکار ساختی، بلی ای پدر، ارادۀ تو چنین بود.

²²Turning to the disciples, he said, “All things have been delivered to me by my Father. No one knows who the Son is, except the Father, and who the Father is, except the Son, and he to whomever the Son desires to reveal him.”

²²پدر همه چیز را در اختیار من گذاشته است. فقط پدر می داند که پسر کیست و همچنین فقط پسر و کسانی که پسر بخواهد پدر را به آنها آشکار سازد می دانند پدر کیست.»

²³Turning to the disciples, he said privately, “Blessed are the eyes which see the things that you see,

²³عیسی رو به شاگردان خود کرد و بطور خصوصی گفت: «خوشابحال آن چشمانی که آنچه را شما می بینید، می بینند.

²⁴ for I tell you that many prophets and kings desired to see the things which you see, and didn’t see them, and to hear the things which you hear, and didn’t hear them.”

²⁴بدانید پیامبران و پادشاهان بسیاری آرزو می کردند که آنچه را شما می بینید ببینند، اما ندیدند و آنچه را شما می شنوید بشنوند اما نشنیدند.»

²⁵Behold, a certain lawyer stood up and tested him, saying, “Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?”

²⁵روزی یکی از معلمین شریعت آمد و از راه امتحان از او پرسید: «ای استاد، چه باید بکنم تا وارث زندگی ابدی شوم؟»

²⁶He said to him, “What is written in the law? How do you read it?”

²⁶عیسی به او فرمود: «در تورات چه نوشته شده؟ آن را چطور تفسیر می کنی؟»

²⁷He answered, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind; Deuteronomy 6:5 and your neighbor as yourself.” Leviticus 19:18

²⁷او جواب داد: «با تمام دل و تمام جان و تمام قدرت و تمام ذهن خود خداوند، خدای خود را دوست بدار و همسایه ات را مانند خودت محبت نما.»

²⁸He said to him, “You have answered correctly. Do this, and you will live.”

²⁸عیسی فرمود: «درست جواب دادی. این کار را بکن که زندگی خواهی داشت.»

²⁹But he, desiring to justify himself, asked Jesus, “Who is my neighbor?”

²⁹اما او برای اینکه نشان دهد آدم بی غرضی است به عیسی گفت: «همسایۀ من کیست؟»

³⁰Jesus answered, “A certain man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and he fell among robbers, who both stripped him and beat him, and departed, leaving him half dead.

³⁰عیسی چنین جواب داد: «مردی که از اورشلیم به اریحا می رفت، به دست راهزنان افتاد. راهزنان او را برهنه نمودند و لت و کوب کردند و بحال نیم مرده انداختند و رفتند.

³¹ By chance a certain priest was going down that way. When he saw him, he passed by on the other side.

³¹اتفاقاً کاهنی از همان راه می گذشت، اما وقتی او را دید از طرف دیگر جاده رفت.

³² In the same way a Levite also, when he came to the place, and saw him, passed by on the other side.

³²همچنین یک لاوی (خادم کاهن) به آن محل رسید و وقتی او را دید از طرف دیگر عبور کرد.

³³ But a certain Samaritan, as he traveled, came where he was. When he saw him, he was moved with compassion,

³³پس از آن یک مسافر از قوم سامری به او رسید و وقتی او را دید دلش بحال او سوخت.

³⁴ came to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. He set him on his own animal, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him.

³⁴نزد او رفت، زخمهایش را با شراب شست و بر آن ها روغن مالید و بست. بعد او را برداشته سوار چهار پای خود کرد و به کاروانسرایی برد و در آنجا از او پرستاری کرد.

³⁵ On the next day, when he departed, he took out two denarii, and gave them to the host, and said to him, ‘Take care of him. Whatever you spend beyond that, I will repay you when I return.’

³⁵روز بعد دو سکۀ نقره درآورد و به صاحب کاروانسرا داد و گفت: «از او پرستاری کن و اگر بیشتر از این خرج کردی وقتی برگردم به تو می دهم.»

³⁶ Now which of these three do you think seemed to be a neighbor to him who fell among the robbers?”

³⁶به عقیدۀ تو کدامیک از این سه نفر همسایۀ آن مردی که به دست دزدان افتاد به حساب می آید؟»

³⁷He said, “He who showed mercy on him.” Then Jesus said to him, “Go and do likewise.”

³⁷جواب داد: «آن کسی که به او دلسوزی کرد.» عیسی فرمود: «برو مثل او رفتار کن.»

³⁸It happened as they went on their way, he entered into a certain village, and a certain woman named Martha received him into her house.

³⁸در جریان سفر آن ها، عیسی به دهکده ای آمد و در آنجا زنی به نام مرتا او را در خانۀ خود پذیرفت.

³⁹She had a sister called Mary, who also sat at Jesus’ feet, and heard his word.

³⁹آن زن خواهری به نام مریم داشت که پیش پاهای عیسی خداوند نشست و به سخنان او گوش می داد.

⁴⁰But Martha was distracted with much serving, and she came up to him, and said, “Lord, don’t you care that my sister left me to serve alone? Ask her therefore to help me.”

⁴⁰در این وقت مرتا به خاطر کارهای زیادی که داشت پریشان بود. پس پیش عیسی آمد و عرض کرد: «خداوندا، هیچ در فکر این نیستی که خواهر من مرا در کار پذیرایی تنها مانده است؟ آخر به او بگو بیاید به من کمک کند.»

⁴¹Jesus answered her, “Martha, Martha, you are anxious and troubled about many things,

⁴¹اما عیسی خداوند جواب داد: «ای مرتا، ای مرتا، تو برای چیزهای بسیار پریشان و ناراحت هستی.اما فقط یک چیز لازم است: آن چه مریم انتخاب کرده از همه بهتر است و از او گرفته نخواهد شد.»

⁴² but one thing is needed. Mary has chosen the good part, which will not be taken away from her.”

⁴²اما فقط یک چیز لازم است: آن چه مریم انتخاب کرده از همه بهتر است و از او گرفته نخواهد شد.»
