¹He called the twelve TR reads “his twelve disciples” instead of “the twelve” together, and gave them power and authority over all demons, and to cure diseases.

¹عیسی دوازده حواری را پیش خود خواست و به آن ها قدرت و اختیار داد تا بر تمامی ارواح ناپاک چیره شوند و بیماریها را درمان نمایند.

²He sent them forth to preach the Kingdom of God, and to heal the sick.

²آنها را فرستاد تا پادشاهی خدا را اعلام کنند و مردم را شفا دهند.

³He said to them, “Take nothing for your journey—neither staffs, nor wallet, nor bread, nor money; neither have two coats apiece.

³به آنها فرمود: «برای مسافرت هیچ چیز نبرید، نه چوبدستی، نه خرجین و نه نان و نه پول و هیچیک از شما نباید جامۀ اضافی داشته باشد.

⁴ Into whatever house you enter, stay there, and depart from there.

⁴هرگاه شما را در خانه ای می پذیرند تا وقتی در آن شهر هستید در آن خانه بمانید.

⁵ As many as don’t receive you, when you depart from that city, shake off even the dust from your feet for a testimony against them.”

⁵اما کسانی که شما را نمی پذیرند، وقتی شهر شان را ترک می کنید برای عبرت آنها گرد و خاک آن شهر را هم از پاهای خود پاک کنید.»

⁶They departed, and went throughout the villages, preaching the Good News, and healing everywhere.

⁶به این ترتیب آن ها به راه افتادند و آبادی به آبادی می گشتند و در همه جا بشارت می دادند و بیماران را شفا می بخشیدند.

⁷Now Herod the tetrarch heard of all that was done by him; and he was very perplexed, because it was said by some that John had risen from the dead,

⁷در این روزها هیرودیس پادشاه از آنچه در جریان بود آگاهی یافت و سرگشته و پریشان شد چون عده ای می گفتند که یحیای تعمید دهنده زنده شده است.

⁸and by some that Elijah had appeared, and by others that one of the old prophets had risen again.

⁸عده ای نیز می گفتند که الیاس ظهور کرده، عده ای هم می گفتند یکی از پیامبران قدیم زنده شده است.

⁹Herod said, “John I beheaded, but who is this, about whom I hear such things?” He sought to see him.

⁹اما هیرودیس گفت: «من که خود فرمان دادم سر یحیی را بزنند، ولی این کیست که دربارۀ او این چیزها را می شنوم؟» و کوشش می کرد او را ببیند.

¹⁰The apostles, when they had returned, told him what things they had done. He took them, and withdrew apart to a deserted place of a city called Bethsaida.

¹⁰وقتی رسولان برگشتند گزارش کارهائی را که انجام داده بودند به عرض عیسی رسانیدند. او آنها را برداشت و به شهری به نام بیتسَیدا برد و نگذاشت کسی دیگر همراه ایشان برود.

¹¹But the multitudes, perceiving it, followed him. He welcomed them, and spoke to them of the Kingdom of God, and he cured those who needed healing.

¹¹اما مردم باخبر شدند و بدنبال او براه افتادند. ایشان را پذیرفت و برای ایشان دربارۀ پادشاهی خدا صحبت کرد و کسانی را که محتاج درمان بودند شفا داد.

¹²The day began to wear away; and the twelve came, and said to him, “Send the multitude away, that they may go into the surrounding villages and farms, and lodge, and get food, for we are here in a deserted place.”

¹²نزدیک غروب، دوازده حواری پیش او آمدند و عرض کردند: «این مردم را رخصت بده تا به دهکده ها و کشتزارهای اطراف بروند و برای خود منزل و خوراک پیدا کنند، چون ما در اینجا در محل دورافتاده ای هستیم.»

¹³But he said to them, “You give them something to eat.” They said, “We have no more than five loaves and two fish, unless we should go and buy food for all these people.”

¹³او جواب داد: «شما خود تان به آنها غذا بدهید.» اما شاگردان گفتند: «ما فقط پنج نان و دو ماهی داریم، مگر اینکه خود ما برویم و برای همۀ این جماعت غذا بخریم.»

¹⁴For they were about five thousand men. He said to his disciples, “Make them sit down in groups of about fifty each.”

¹⁴آنها در حدود پنج هزار مرد بودند. عیسی به شاگردان فرمود: «اینها را به دسته های پنجاه نفری بنشانید.»

¹⁵They did so, and made them all sit down.

¹⁵شاگردان این کار را انجام دادند و همه را نشانیدند.

¹⁶He took the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up to the sky, he blessed them, and broke them, and gave them to the disciples to set before the multitude.

¹⁶بعد عیسی آن پنج نان و دو ماهی را گرفت، چشم به آسمان دوخت و برای آن خوراک سپاسگزاری کرد. سپس نانها را پاره کرد و به شاگردان داد تا پیش مردم بگذارند.

¹⁷They ate, and were all filled. They gathered up twelve baskets of broken pieces that were left over.

¹⁷همه خوردند و سیر شدند و دوازده سبد از باقیماندۀ نان و ماهی جمع شد.

¹⁸It happened, as he was praying alone, that the disciples were with him, and he asked them, “Who do the multitudes say that I am?”

¹⁸یک روز وقتی عیسی به تنهائی در حضور شاگردانش دعا می کرد از آنها پرسید: «مردم مرا کی می دانند؟»

¹⁹They answered, “‘John the Baptizer,’ but others say, ‘Elijah,’ and others, that one of the old prophets is risen again.”

¹⁹جواب دادند: «بعضی ها می گویند تو یحیای تعمید دهنده هستی، عده ای می گویند تو الیاس هستی و عده ای هم می گویند که یکی از پیامبران پیشین زنده شده است.»

²⁰He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” Peter answered, “The Christ of God.”

²⁰عیسی فرمود: «شما مرا کی می دانید؟» پِترُس جواب داد: «مسیح خدا.»

²¹But he warned them, and commanded them to tell this to no one,

²¹بعد به آنها امر شدید کرد که این موضوع را به هیچکس نگویند

²²saying, “The Son of Man must suffer many things, and be rejected by the elders, chief priests, and scribes, and be killed, and the third day be raised up.”

²²و ادامه داد: «لازم است که پسر انسان رنجهای سختی را بکشد و بزرگان یهود، سران کاهنان و علمای دین او را رد کنند و او کشته شود و در روز سوم باز زنده گردد.»

²³He said to all, “If anyone desires to come after me, let him deny himself, take up his cross, TR, NU add “daily” and follow me.

²³سپس به همه فرمود: «اگر کسی بخواهد پیرو من باشد باید دست از جان بشوید و همه روزه صلیب خود را بردارد و با من بیاید.

²⁴ For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever will lose his life for my sake, the same will save it.

²⁴هر که بخواهد جان خود را حفظ کند آن را از دست خواهد داد اما هرکه به خاطر من جان خود را فدا کند آن را نگاه خواهد داشت.

²⁵ For what does it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses or forfeits his own self?

²⁵برای آدمی چه فایده دارد که تمام جهان را به دست بیاورد اما جان خود را از دست بدهد یا به آن ضرر برساند؟

²⁶ For whoever will be ashamed of me and of my words, of him will the Son of Man be ashamed, when he comes in his glory, and the glory of the Father, and of the holy angels.

²⁶هر که از من و سخنان من عار داشته باشد پسر انسان نیز وقتی با جلال خود و جلال پدر و فرشتگان مقدس بیاید از او عار خواهد داشت.

²⁷ But I tell you the truth: There are some of those who stand here, who will in no way taste of death, until they see the Kingdom of God.”

²⁷بیقین بدانید از کسانی که در اینجا ایستاده اند عده ای هستند که تا پادشاهی خدا را نبینند طعم مرگ را نخواهند چشید.»

²⁸It happened about eight days after these sayings, that he took with him Peter, John, and James, and went up onto the mountain to pray.

²⁸عیسی تقریباً یک هفته بعد از این موضوع، پِترُس، یوحنا و یعقوب را برداشت و برای دعا به بالای کوه رفت.

²⁹As he was praying, the appearance of his face was altered, and his clothing became white and dazzling.

²⁹هنگامیکه به دعا مشغول بود، نمای چهره اش تغییر کرد و لباسهایش از سفیدی می درخشید.

³⁰Behold, two men were talking with him, who were Moses and Elijah,

³⁰ناگهان دو مرد یعنی موسی و الیاس در آنجا با او صحبت می کردند.

³¹who appeared in glory, and spoke of his departure, literally, “exodus” which he was about to accomplish at Jerusalem.

³¹آن ها با شان و شوکت ظاهر گشتند و دربارۀ مرگ او، یعنی آنچه که می بایست در اورشلیم به انجام رسد، صحبت می کردند.

³²Now Peter and those who were with him were heavy with sleep, but when they were fully awake, they saw his glory, and the two men who stood with him.

³²در این موقع پِترُس و همراهان او به خواب رفته بودند، اما وقتی بیدار شدند و جلال او و آن دو مردی را که در کنار او ایستاده بودند مشاهده کردند.

³³It happened, as they were parting from him, that Peter said to Jesus, “Master, it is good for us to be here. Let’s make three tents: one for you, and one for Moses, and one for Elijah,” not knowing what he said.

³³در حالی که آن دو نفر از نزد عیسی می رفتند پِترُس به او عرض کرد: «ای استاد، چه خوب است که ما در اینجا هستیم! سه سایبان بسازیم، یکی برای تو، یکی برای موسی و یکی هم برای الیاس.» پِترُس بدون آنکه بفهمد چه می گوید این سخن را گفت.

³⁴While he said these things, a cloud came and overshadowed them, and they were afraid as they entered into the cloud.

³⁴هنوز حرفش تمام نشده بود که ابری آمد و بر آنها سایه افگند و وقتی ابر آنها را فرا گرفت شاگردان ترسیدند.

³⁵A voice came out of the cloud, saying, “This is my beloved Son. Listen to him!”

³⁵از ابر ندائی آمد: «این است پسر من و برگزیدۀ من، به او گوش دهید.»

³⁶When the voice came, Jesus was found alone. They were silent, and told no one in those days any of the things which they had seen.

³⁶وقتی آن ندا به پایان رسید، آن ها عیسی را تنها دیدند. آن سه نفر خاموش ماندند و در آن روزها از آنچه دیده بودند چیزی به کسی نگفتند.

³⁷It happened on the next day, when they had come down from the mountain, that a great multitude met him.

³⁷روز بعد وقتی از کوه پایین می آمدند جمعیت زیادی در انتظار عیسی بود.

³⁸Behold, a man from the crowd called out, saying, “Teacher, I beg you to look at my son, for he is my only child.

³⁸ناگهان مردی از وسط جمعیت فریاد زد: «ای استاد، از تو التماس می کنم به پسر من، که یگانه فرزند من است، نظری بیاندازی.

³⁹Behold, a spirit takes him, he suddenly cries out, and it convulses him so that he foams, and it hardly departs from him, bruising him severely.

³⁹روحی او را می گیرد و ناگهان فریاد می زند، کف از دهانش بیرون می آید و بدنش به تشنج افتاده می لرزد و با دشواری زیاد او را رها می کند.

⁴⁰I begged your disciples to cast it out, and they couldn’t.”

⁴⁰از شاگردان تو تقاضا کردم که آن روح را بیرون کنند اما نتوانستند.»

⁴¹Jesus answered, “Faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you and bear with you? Bring your son here.”

⁴¹عیسی جواب داد: «مردمان این روزگار، چقدر بی ایمان و فاسد هستند! تا کی با شما باشم و شما را تحمل کنم؟ پسرت را به این جا بیآور.»

⁴²While he was still coming, the demon threw him down and convulsed him violently. But Jesus rebuked the unclean spirit, and healed the boy, and gave him back to his father.

⁴²اما قبل از آنکه پسر به نزد عیسی برسد روح ناپاک او را به زمین زد و به تشنج انداخته تکان سختی داد. عیسی با تندی به روح ناپاک امر کرد خارج شود و آن پسر را شفا بخشید و به پدرش سپرد.

⁴³They were all astonished at the majesty of God. But while all were marveling at all the things which Jesus did, he said to his disciples,

⁴³همۀ مردم از بزرگی خدا حیران ماندند. در حالی که عموم مردم از تمام کارهای عیسی در حیرت بودند عیسی به شاگردان فرمود:

⁴⁴ “Let these words sink into your ears, for the Son of Man will be delivered up into the hands of men.”

⁴⁴«این سخن مرا بخاطر بسپارید: پسر انسان به دست آدمیان تسلیم خواهد شد.»

⁴⁵But they didn’t understand this saying. It was concealed from them, that they should not perceive it, and they were afraid to ask him about this saying.

⁴⁵اما آنها نفهمیدند چه می گوید. مقصد عیسی بطوری برای آنها پوشیده بود که آن را نفهمیدند و می ترسیدند آن را از او بپرسند.

⁴⁶There arose an argument among them about which of them was the greatest.

⁴⁶مباحثه ای در میان آنها درگرفت که کی بین آن ها از همه بزرگتر است.

⁴⁷Jesus, perceiving the reasoning of their hearts, took a little child, and set him by his side,

⁴⁷عیسی فهمید که در ذهن شان چه افکاری می گذرد، پس کودکی را گرفت و او را در کنار خود قرار داد

⁴⁸and said to them, “Whoever receives this little child in my name receives me. Whoever receives me receives him who sent me. For whoever is least among you all, this one will be great.”

⁴⁸و به آنها فرمود: «هرکه این کودک را به نام من بپذیرد مرا پذیرفته است و هرکه مرا بپذیرد فرستندۀ مرا پذیرفته است، زیرا در بین شما آن کسی بزرگتر است که از همه کوچکتر می باشد.»

⁴⁹John answered, “Master, we saw someone casting out demons in your name, and we forbade him, because he doesn’t follow with us.”

⁴⁹یوحنا عرض کرد: «ای استاد، ما مردی را دیدیم که با ذکر نام تو ارواح ناپاک را بیرون می کرد اما چون از ما نبود کوشش کردیم مانع کار او شویم.»

⁵⁰Jesus said to him, “Don’t forbid him, for he who is not against us is for us.”

⁵⁰عیسی به او فرمود: «با او کاری نداشته باشید زیرا هر که ضد شما نباشد با شماست.»

⁵¹It came to pass, when the days were near that he should be taken up, he intently set his face to go to Jerusalem,

⁵¹چون وقت آن رسید که عیسی به آسمان برده شود با عزمی محکم رو به اورشلیم نهاد

⁵²and sent messengers before his face. They went, and entered into a village of the Samaritans, so as to prepare for him.

⁵²و قاصدانی پیشاپیش خود فرستاد. آنها حرکت کردند و به دهکده ای در سرزمین سامریان وارد شدند تا برای او تدارک ببینند.

⁵³They didn’t receive him, because he was traveling with his face set towards Jerusalem.

⁵³اما مردمان آن ده نمی خواستند از او پذیرائی کنند، زیرا معلوم بود که او عازم اورشلیم است.

⁵⁴When his disciples, James and John, saw this, they said, “Lord, do you want us to command fire to come down from the sky, and destroy them, just as Elijah did?”

⁵⁴وقتی یعقوب و یوحنا، شاگردان او، این جریان را دیدند گفتند: «خداوندا، آیا می خواهی بگوئیم از آسمان آتشی ببارد و همۀ آنها را بسوزاند؟»

⁵⁵But he turned and rebuked them, “You don’t know of what kind of spirit you are.

⁵⁵اما او برگشت و آنها را ملامت کرد

⁵⁶ For the Son of Man didn’t come to destroy men’s lives, but to save them.” They went to another village.

⁵⁶و روانۀ دهکدۀ دیگری شدند.

⁵⁷As they went on the way, a certain man said to him, “I want to follow you wherever you go, Lord.”

⁵⁷در بین راه مردی به او عرض کرد: «هر جا بروی من به دنبال تو می آیم.»

⁵⁸Jesus said to him, “The foxes have holes, and the birds of the sky have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay his head.”

⁵⁸عیسی جواب داد: «روباهان، لانه و پرندگان، آشیانه دارند اما پسر انسان هیچ جائی ندارد که درآن استراحت کند.»

⁵⁹He said to another, “Follow me!” But he said, “Lord, allow me first to go and bury my father.”

⁵⁹عیسی به شخص دیگری فرمود: «بامن بیا.» اما او جواب داد: «ای آقا، بگذار اول بروم پدرم را به خاک بسپارم.»

⁶⁰But Jesus said to him, “Leave the dead to bury their own dead, but you go and announce the Kingdom of God.”

⁶⁰عیسی فرمود: «بگذار مردگان، مردگان خود را به خاک بسپارند، تو برو و پادشاهی خدا را در همه جا اعلام نما.»

⁶¹Another also said, “I want to follow you, Lord, but first allow me to say good-bye to those who are at my house.”

⁶¹شخص دیگری گفت: «ای آقا، من با تو خواهم آمد اما اجازه بفرما اول با خانواده ام خداحافظی کنم.»عیسی به او فرمود: «کسی که در وقت قلبه به پشت سر ببیند لیاقت آن را ندارد که برای پادشاهی خدا خدمت کند.»

⁶²But Jesus said to him, “No one, having put his hand to the plow, and looking back, is fit for the Kingdom of God.”

⁶²عیسی به او فرمود: «کسی که در وقت قلبه به پشت سر ببیند لیاقت آن را ندارد که برای پادشاهی خدا خدمت کند.»
