¹He also said to his disciples, “There was a certain rich man who had a manager. An accusation was made to him that this man was wasting his possessions.

¹عیسی همچنین به شاگردان فرمود: «شخصی ثروتمند ناظری داشت و شکایاتی به او رسید که آن ناظر از دارائی اش سوء استفاده می کند.

² He called him, and said to him, ‘What is this that I hear about you? Give an accounting of your management, for you can no longer be manager.’

²پس او را خواسته گفت: «این چه حرفهایی است که دربارۀ تو می شنوم. حسابهایت را پس بده چون دیگر نمی توانی در اینجا ناظر باشی.»

³ “The manager said within himself, ‘What will I do, seeing that my lord is taking away the management position from me? I don’t have strength to dig. I am ashamed to beg.

³آن ناظر پیش خود گفت: «حالا که ارباب من می خواهد کار ناظری را از من بگیرد چه باید بکنم؟ من که نه توان بیل زدن دارم و نه روی گدایی کردن.

⁴ I know what I will do, so that when I am removed from management, they may receive me into their houses.’

⁴بلی می دانم چه کنم تا مطمئن شوم که وقتی مرا از این کار برکنار کرد اشخاصی باشند که در خانه های خود را بر روی من باز کنند.»

⁵ Calling each one of his lord’s debtors to him, he said to the first, ‘How much do you owe to my lord?’

⁵پس قرضداران ارباب را یک به یک حاضر کرد. به اولی گفت: «چقدر از ارباب من قرضدار هستی؟»

⁶ He said, ‘A hundred batos 100 batos is about 395 litres or 104 U. S. gallons. of oil.’ He said to him, ‘Take your bill, and sit down quickly and write fifty.’

⁶جواب داد: «صد پیمانۀ روغن زیتون.» گفت: «بیا، این صورت حساب توست. بنشین و به جای آن بنویس پنجاه پیمانه، زود شو.»

⁷ Then he said to another, ‘How much do you owe?’ He said, ‘A hundred cors 100 cors = about 3,910 litres or 600 bushels. of wheat.’ He said to him, ‘Take your bill, and write eighty.’

⁷بعد به دیگری گفت: «تو چقدر قرضدار هستی؟» گفت: «صد خروار گندم.» به او گفت: «صورت حسابت را بگیر و به جای آن بنویس هشتاد خروار.»

⁸ “His lord commended the dishonest manager because he had done wisely, for the children of this world are, in their own generation, wiser than the children of the light.

⁸آن ارباب، ناظر نادرست را به خاطر اینکه چنان زیرکانه عمل کرده بود آفرین گفت، زیرا مردم این دنیا در مناسبات با همنوعان خود از ایمانداران زیرکتر هستند.

⁹ I tell you, make for yourselves friends by means of unrighteous mammon, so that when you fail, they may receive you into the eternal tents.

⁹پس به شما می گویم که مال دنیا را برای به دست آوردن دوستان مصرف کنید تا وقتی پول تان به آخر می رسد شما را در خانه های جاودانی بپذیرند.

¹⁰ He who is faithful in a very little is faithful also in much. He who is dishonest in a very little is also dishonest in much.

¹⁰کسی که در امور کوچک درستکار باشد، در کارهای بزرگ هم درستکار خواهد بود و کسی که در امور کوچک نادرست باشد، در کارهای بزرگ هم نادرست خواهد بود.

¹¹ If therefore you have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true riches?

¹¹پس اگر شما در خصوص مال دنیا امین نباشید، چه کسی در مورد آن ثروت حقیقی به شما اعتماد خواهد کرد؟

¹² If you have not been faithful in that which is another’s, who will give you that which is your own?

¹²و اگر شما در مورد آنچه به دیگری تعلق دارد امین نباشید، کی آنچه را که مال خود شماست به شما خواهد داد؟

¹³ No servant can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to one, and despise the other. You aren’t able to serve God and mammon “Mammon” refers to riches or a false god of wealth. .”

¹³هیچ نوکری نمی تواند غلام دو ارباب باشد، چون یا از اولی بدش می آید و دومی را دوست دارد یا به اولی ارادت دارد و دومی را حقیر می شمارد. شما نمی توانید هم بندۀ خدا باشید و هم در بند پول.»

¹⁴The Pharisees, who were lovers of money, also heard all these things, and they scoffed at him.

¹⁴فریسی ها این سخنان را شنیدند و او را مسخره کردند زیرا پول دوست بودند.

¹⁵He said to them, “You are those who justify yourselves in the sight of men, but God knows your hearts. For that which is exalted among men is an abomination in the sight of God.

¹⁵عیسی به آنها فرمود: «شما کسانی هستید که نیکوئیهای خود را به رُخ مردم می کشید، اما خدا از باطن تان آگاه است چون آنچه در نظر آدمیان ارزش بسیار دارد، پیش خدا ناپاک است.

¹⁶ The law and the prophets were until John. From that time the Good News of the Kingdom of God is preached, and everyone is forcing his way into it.

¹⁶تا زمان یحیی، تورات و نوشته های پیامبران در کار بود. از آن پس مژدۀ پادشاهی خدا اعلام شده است و همۀ مردم می خواهند با تلاش داخل آن شوند.

¹⁷ But it is easier for heaven and earth to pass away, than for one tiny stroke of a pen in the law to fall.

¹⁷آسانتر است که آسمان و زمین از بین برود تا نقطه ای از تورات بیفتد.

¹⁸ Everyone who divorces his wife, and marries another, commits adultery. He who marries one who is divorced from a husband commits adultery.

¹⁸هر مردی که زن خود را طلاق بدهد و زن دیگری بگیرد مرتکب زنا می شود و هر کسی زن طلاق داده شده را بگیرد زنا می کند.

¹⁹ “Now there was a certain rich man, and he was clothed in purple and fine linen, living in luxury every day.

¹⁹مرد ثروتمندی بود که همیشه لباسی ارغوانی و از کتان نازک می پوشید و با خوشگذرانی فروان زندگی می کرد.

²⁰ A certain beggar, named Lazarus, was laid at his gate, full of sores,

²⁰در پیش در خانۀ او گدای زخم آلودی به نام ایلعازَر خوابیده بود،

²¹ and desiring to be fed with the crumbs that fell from the rich man’s table. Yes, even the dogs came and licked his sores.

²¹که آرزو داشت با پس مانده های دسترخوان آن ثروتمند شکم خود را پُر کند. حتی سگها می آمدند و زخمهای او را می لیسیدند.

²² It happened that the beggar died, and that he was carried away by the angels to Abraham’s bosom. The rich man also died, and was buried.

²²یک روز آن فقیر مُرد و فرشتگان او را به آغوش ابراهیم بردند. آن ثروتمند هم مُرد و به خاک سپرده شد.

²³ In Hades or, Hell , he lifted up his eyes, being in torment, and saw Abraham far off, and Lazarus at his bosom.

²³او که در دنیای مردگان در عذاب بود، به بالا دید و از دور، ابراهیم را با ایلعازَر که در کنار او بود دید.

²⁴ He cried and said, ‘Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue! For I am in anguish in this flame.’

²⁴فریاد زد: «ای پدر من ابراهیم، به من رحم کن. ایلعازَر را بفرست تا سر انگشت خود را به آب بزند و زبان مرا تر کند چون من در این آتش عذاب می کشم.»

²⁵ “But Abraham said, ‘Son, remember that you, in your lifetime, received your good things, and Lazarus, in the same way, bad things. But now here he is comforted and you are in anguish.

²⁵اما ابراهیم گفت: «فرزندم، به خاطر بیاور که وقتی زنده بودی همۀ چیزهای خوب نصیب تو و همۀ بدیها نصیب ایلعازَر شد. حالا او در اینجا آسوده است و تو در عذاب هستی.

²⁶ Besides all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed, that those who want to pass from here to you are not able, and that none may cross over from there to us.’

²⁶اما کار به اینجا تمام نمی شود شکاف عمیقی میان ما و شما قرار دارد. هر که از این طرف بخواهد به شما برسد نمی تواند از آن بگذرد و کسی هم نمی تواند از آن طرف پیش ما بیاید.»

²⁷ “He said, ‘I ask you therefore, father, that you would send him to my father’s house;

²⁷او جواب داد: «پس ای پدر، التماس می کنم ایلعازَر را به خانۀ پدر من،

²⁸ for I have five brothers, that he may testify to them, so they won’t also come into this place of torment.’

²⁸که در آن پنج برادر دارم، بفرست تا آنها را با خبر کند مبادا آنها هم به این محل عذاب بیایند.»

²⁹ “But Abraham said to him, ‘They have Moses and the prophets. Let them listen to them.’

²⁹اما ابراهیم گفت: «آن ها موسی و انبیاء را دارند، به سخنان ایشان گوش بدهند.»

³⁰ “He said, ‘No, father Abraham, but if one goes to them from the dead, they will repent.’

³⁰آن مرد جواب داد: «نه، ای پدر، اگر کسی از مردگان پیش ایشان برود، توبه خواهند کرد.»ابراهیم در جواب فرمود: «اگر به سخنان موسی و انبیاء گوش ندهند، حتی اگر کسی هم پس از مرگ زنده شود، باز باور نخواهند کرد.»»

³¹ “He said to him, ‘If they don’t listen to Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded if one rises from the dead.’”

³¹ابراهیم در جواب فرمود: «اگر به سخنان موسی و انبیاء گوش ندهند، حتی اگر کسی هم پس از مرگ زنده شود، باز باور نخواهند کرد.»»
