¹It happened on one of those days, as he was teaching the people in the temple and preaching the Good News, that the TR adds “chief” priests and scribes came to him with the elders.

¹یک روز وقتی عیسی مردم را در عبادتگاه تعلیم می داد و مژدۀ نجات را به ایشان اعلام می کرد سران کاهنان و علمای دین با بزرگان یهود پیش او آمدند

²They asked him, “Tell us: by what authority do you do these things? Or who is giving you this authority?”

²و گفتند: «به ما بگو به چه اختیاری این کار ها را می کنی؟ کی به تو این اختیار را داده است؟»

³He answered them, “I also will ask you one question. Tell me:

³عیسی به آنها جواب داد: «من هم از شما سؤالی دارم، به من بگویید

⁴ the baptism of John, was it from heaven, or from men?”

⁴آیا تعمید یحیی از جانب خدا بود یا از جانب بشر؟»

⁵They reasoned with themselves, saying, “If we say, ‘From heaven,’ he will say, ‘Why didn’t you believe him?’

⁵آن ها بین خود بحث کرده گفتند: «اگر بگوییم از جانب خدا بود، او خواهد گفت: چرا به او ایمان نیاوردید؟

⁶But if we say, ‘From men,’ all the people will stone us, for they are persuaded that John was a prophet.”

⁶و اگر بگوییم: از جانب بشر، همۀ مردم ما را سنگباران خواهند کرد چون یقین دارند که یحیی یک پیامبر بود.»

⁷They answered that they didn’t know where it was from.

⁷پس گفتند: «ما نمی دانیم از کجاست.»

⁸Jesus said to them, “Neither will I tell you by what authority I do these things.”

⁸عیسی به ایشان گفت: «من هم به شما نمی گویم که با چه اختیاری این کارها را می کنم.»

⁹He began to tell the people this parable. “A NU (in brackets) and TR add “certain” man planted a vineyard, and rented it out to some farmers, and went into another country for a long time.

⁹عیسی به سخن خود ادامه داد و برای مردم مَثَلی آورده گفت: «مردی تاکستانی احداث کرد و آنرا به باغبانان سپرد و مدت درازی به سفر رفت.

¹⁰ At the proper season, he sent a servant to the farmers to collect his share of the fruit of the vineyard. But the farmers beat him, and sent him away empty.

¹⁰در موسم انگور، غلامی را پیش باغبانان فرستاد تا حصۀ خود را از محصول تاکستان بگیرد. اما آن ها غلام را لت و کوب کردند و دست خالی باز گردانیدند.

¹¹ He sent yet another servant, and they also beat him, and treated him shamefully, and sent him away empty.

¹¹صاحب تاکستان غلام دیگری فرستاد، او را هم لت و کوب کرده و با او بد رفتاری کردند و دست خالی برگردانیدند.

¹² He sent yet a third, and they also wounded him, and threw him out.

¹²غلام سوم را فرستاد. این یکی را هم زخمی کردند و بیرون انداختند.

¹³ The lord of the vineyard said, ‘What shall I do? I will send my beloved son. It may be that seeing him, they will respect him.’

¹³پس صاحب تاکستان گفت: «چه باید بکنم؟ پسر عزیز خود را می فرستم، شاید حرمت او را نگهدارند.»

¹⁴ “But when the farmers saw him, they reasoned among themselves, saying, ‘This is the heir. Come, let’s kill him, that the inheritance may be ours.’

¹⁴اما باغبانان وقتی او را دیدند با هم بحث کردند و گفتند: «این وارث است، بیایید او را بکشیم تا ملک به خود ما برسد.»

¹⁵ They threw him out of the vineyard, and killed him. What therefore will the lord of the vineyard do to them?

¹⁵پس او را از تاکستان بیرون انداختند و کشتند. حالا صاحب تاکستان با آنها چه خواهد کرد؟

¹⁶ He will come and destroy these farmers, and will give the vineyard to others.” When they heard it, they said, “May it never be!”

¹⁶او می آید و این باغبانان را می کشد و تاکستان را به دست دیگران می سپارد.» وقتی مردم اینرا شنیدند گفتند: «خدا نکند!»

¹⁷But he looked at them, and said, “Then what is this that is written, ‘The stone which the builders rejected, the same was made the chief cornerstone?’ Psalm 118:22

¹⁷اما او طرف شان دیده گفت: «پس معنی این قسمت از کتاب مقدس چیست؟ «آن سنگی که معماران رد کردند به صورت سنگ اصلی بنا در آمده است.»

¹⁸ Everyone who falls on that stone will be broken to pieces, but it will crush whomever it falls on to dust.”

¹⁸هر که بر آن سنگ بیفتد پارچه پارچه خواهد شد و اگر آن سنگ بر کسی بیفتد او را کاملاً نرم خواهد کرد.»

¹⁹The chief priests and the scribes sought to lay hands on him that very hour, but they feared the people—for they knew he had spoken this parable against them.

¹⁹علمای یهود و سران کاهنان می خواستند در همان لحظه او را بگیرند، چون پی بردند که مقصد آن مَثَل خود آن ها است اما از مردم ترسیدند.

²⁰They watched him, and sent out spies, who pretended to be righteous, that they might trap him in something he said, so as to deliver him up to the power and authority of the governor.

²⁰پس به دنبال فرصت می گشتند و مأموران مخفی که خود را دیندار نشان می دادند پیش او فرستادند تا حرفی از دهان او بگیرند و آنرا دست آویزی برای تسلیم او به حَکَم و حوزۀ اختیارات والی رومی قرار دهند.

²¹They asked him, “Teacher, we know that you say and teach what is right, and aren’t partial to anyone, but truly teach the way of God.

²¹پس از او پرسیدند: «ای استاد، ما می دانیم آنچه تو می گویی و تعلیم می دهی درست و بجاست. تو در مورد هیچ کس فرق نمی گذاری بلکه با راستی و درستی راه خدا را تعلیم می دهی.

²²Is it lawful for us to pay taxes to Caesar, or not?”

²²آیا ما اجازه داریم که به امپراطور روم مالیه بدهیم یا نه؟»

²³But he perceived their craftiness, and said to them, “Why do you test me?

²³عیسی به نیرنگ آنها پی برد و فرمود:

²⁴ Show me a denarius. Whose image and inscription are on it?” They answered, “Caesar’s.”

²⁴«یک سکۀ نقره به من نشان بدهید. نقش و عنوان چه کسی روی آن است؟» جواب دادند: «امپراطور.»

²⁵He said to them, “Then give to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s.”

²⁵عیسی فرمود: «پس آنچه از امپراطور است به امپراطور و آنچه از خدا است به خدا بدهید.»

²⁶They weren’t able to trap him in his words before the people. They marveled at his answer, and were silent.

²⁶به این ترتیب کوشش آنها برای به دست آوردن دلیلی به مقابل او در برابر مردم بی اثر ماند و در حالی که از جواب او حیرت کرده بودند خاموش ماندند.

²⁷Some of the Sadducees came to him, those who deny that there is a resurrection.

²⁷بعد چند نفر از پیروان فرقۀ صدوقی که منکر رستاخیز پس از مرگ بودند پیش آمدند و از او پرسیدند:

²⁸They asked him, “Teacher, Moses wrote to us that if a man’s brother dies having a wife, and he is childless, his brother should take the wife, and raise up children for his brother.

²⁸«ای استاد، موسی این امر را برای ما نوشت: چنانچه مردی زنی بگیرد ولی بدون اولاد بمیرد برادرش مجبور است آن زن را بگیرد تا برای برادر خود فرزندانی بیاورد.

²⁹There were therefore seven brothers. The first took a wife, and died childless.

²⁹حالا هفت برادر بودند، اولی زنی گرفت و بدون فرزند مُرد.

³⁰The second took her as wife, and he died childless.

³⁰بعد دومی او را گرفت

³¹The third took her, and likewise the seven all left no children, and died.

³¹و سپس سومی و همین طور هر هفت نفر مردند و هیچ اولادی به جا نگذاشتند.

³²Afterward the woman also died.

³²بعد از همه آن زن هم مُرد.

³³Therefore in the resurrection whose wife of them will she be? For the seven had her as a wife.”

³³پس در روز رستاخیز، او زن کدام یک باشد؟ چون هر هفت نفر با او ازدواج کردند.»

³⁴Jesus said to them, “The children of this age marry, and are given in marriage.

³⁴عیسی به ایشان فرمود: «زنان و مردان این جهان ازدواج می کنند،

³⁵ But those who are considered worthy to attain to that age and the resurrection from the dead, neither marry, nor are given in marriage.

³⁵اما کسانی که شایسته رسیدن به جهان آینده و رستاخیز از مردگان بشوند، زن نمی گیرند و شوهر نمی کنند،

³⁶ For they can’t die any more, for they are like the angels, and are children of God, being children of the resurrection.

³⁶زیرا آن ها مانند فرشتگان هستند. دیگر مرگ برای آنها محال است و چون در رستاخیز شرکت دارند فرزندان خدا هستند.

³⁷ But that the dead are raised, even Moses showed at the bush, when he called the Lord ‘The God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.’ Exodus 3:6

³⁷این مطلب که مردگان بار دیگر زنده می شوند مطلبی است که خود موسی در داستان بوتۀ سوزان، آنجا که خداوند را خدای ابراهیم، خدای اسحاق و خدای یعقوب، خطاب می کند نشان داده است.

³⁸ Now he is not the God of the dead, but of the living, for all are alive to him.”

³⁸خدا، خدای مردگان نیست بلکه خدای زندگان است چون پیش او همه زنده اند.»

³⁹Some of the scribes answered, “Teacher, you speak well.”

³⁹در این مورد بعضی از علما گفتند: «ای استاد، عالی جواب دادی.»

⁴⁰They didn’t dare to ask him any more questions.

⁴⁰و پس از آن دیگر جرأت نکردند که از او چیزی بپرسند.

⁴¹He said to them, “Why do they say that the Christ is David’s son?

⁴¹عیسی به ایشان فرمود: «چطور می توان گفت که مسیح پسر داود است؟

⁴² David himself says in the book of Psalms, ‘The Lord said to my Lord, “Sit at my right hand,

⁴²چون خود داود در کتاب زبور می گوید: «خداوند به خداوند من فرمود: در دست راست من بنشین

⁴³ until I make your enemies the footstool of your feet.”’ Psalm 110:1

⁴³تا دشمنانت را زیر پای تو اندازم.»

⁴⁴ “David therefore calls him Lord, so how is he his son?”

⁴⁴باری، داود او را «خداوند» خطاب می کند، پس چطور او می تواند پسر داود باشد؟»

⁴⁵In the hearing of all the people, he said to his disciples,

⁴⁵عیسی در حضور همه مردم به شاگردان فرمود:

⁴⁶ “Beware of the scribes, who like to walk in long robes, and love greetings in the marketplaces, the best seats in the synagogues, and the best places at feasts;

⁴⁶«از علما که دوست دارند با چپن های دراز بیایند و بروند و علاقۀ شدیدی به سلام های احترام آمیز در بازار ها و بهترین جا ها در کنیسه ها و دعوت ها نشان می دهند احتیاط کنید.آنها مال بیوه زنان را می خورند حال آنکه محض خودنمایی دعای خود را طول می دهند. آن ها شدیدترین جزا ها را خواهند دید.»

⁴⁷ who devour widows’ houses, and for a pretense make long prayers: these will receive greater condemnation.”
