¹He entered and was passing through Jericho.

¹عیسی وارد اریحا شد و از میان شهر می گذشت.

²There was a man named Zacchaeus. He was a chief tax collector, and he was rich.

²مردی در آنجا بود بنام زَکی که سرپرست جزیه گیران و بسیار ثروتمند بود.

³He was trying to see who Jesus was, and couldn’t because of the crowd, because he was short.

³او می خواست ببیند که عیسی چه نوع شخصی است، اما به علت کوتاهی قامت و ازدحام مردم نمی توانست او را ببیند.

⁴He ran on ahead, and climbed up into a sycamore tree to see him, for he was to pass that way.

⁴پس پیش دوید و از درخت چناری بالا رفت تا او را ببیند، چون قرار بود عیسی از آن راه بگذرد.

⁵When Jesus came to the place, he looked up and saw him, and said to him, “Zacchaeus, hurry and come down, for today I must stay at your house.”

⁵وقتی عیسی به آن محل رسید به بالا نگاه کرد و فرمود: «ای زَکی، زود شو، پایین بیا زیرا باید امروز در خانۀ تو مهمان باشم.»

⁶He hurried, came down, and received him joyfully.

⁶او به سرعت پایین آمد و با خوشرویی عیسی را پذیرفت.

⁷When they saw it, they all murmured, saying, “He has gone in to lodge with a man who is a sinner.”

⁷وقتی مردم اینرا دیدند زمزمۀ نارضایی از آن ها برخاست. آن ها می گفتند: «او مهمان یک خطاکار شده است.»

⁸Zacchaeus stood and said to the Lord, “Behold, Lord, half of my goods I give to the poor. If I have wrongfully exacted anything of anyone, I restore four times as much.”

⁸زَکی ایستاد و به عیسی خداوند گفت: «ای آقا، اکنون نصف دارایی خود را به فقرا می بخشم و مال هر کس را که به ناحق گرفته باشم چهار برابر به او پس می دهم.»

⁹Jesus said to him, “Today, salvation has come to this house, because he also is a son of Abraham.

⁹عیسی به او فرمود: «امروز رستگاری به این خانه روی آورده است چون این مرد هم پسر ابراهیم است.

¹⁰ For the Son of Man came to seek and to save that which was lost.”

¹⁰زیرا پسر انسان آمده است تا گمشده را پیدا کند و نجات دهد.»

¹¹As they heard these things, he went on and told a parable, because he was near Jerusalem, and they supposed that the Kingdom of God would be revealed immediately.

¹¹عیسی چون در نزدیکی اورشلیم بود برای کسانی که این سخنان را شنیده بود مَثَلی آورد زیرا آن ها گمان می کردند که هر لحظه پادشاهی خدا ظاهر خواهد شد.

¹²He said therefore, “A certain nobleman went into a far country to receive for himself a kingdom, and to return.

¹²او فرمود: «اربابی سفر دور و درازی به خارج کرد تا مقام پادشاهی را به دست آورد و باز گردد.

¹³ He called ten servants of his, and gave them ten mina coins, 10 minas was more than 3 years’ wages for an agricultural laborer. and told them, ‘Conduct business until I come.’

¹³اما اول ده نفر از غلامان خود را خواست و به هر کدام یک سکۀ طلا داد و گفت: «تا بازگشت من به این پول خرید و فروش کنید.»

¹⁴ But his citizens hated him, and sent an envoy after him, saying, ‘We don’t want this man to reign over us.’

¹⁴هموطنانش که از او دل خوشی نداشتند پشت سر او نمایندگانی فرستادند تا بگویند: «ما نمی خواهیم این مرد بر ما حکومت کند.»

¹⁵ “It happened when he had come back again, having received the kingdom, that he commanded these servants, to whom he had given the money, to be called to him, that he might know what they had gained by conducting business.

¹⁵پس از مدتی او با عنوان فرمانروایی مراجعت کرد و دنبال غلامانی که با آنها پول داده بود فرستاد تا ببیند هر کدام چقدر سود برده است.

¹⁶ The first came before him, saying, ‘Lord, your mina has made ten more minas.’

¹⁶اولی آمد و گفت: «ارباب، پول تو ده برابر شده است.»

¹⁷ “He said to him, ‘Well done, you good servant! Because you were found faithful with very little, you shall have authority over ten cities.’

¹⁷جواب داد: «آفرین، تو غلام خوبی هستی، خودت را در امر بسیار کوچکی درستکار نشان داده ای، پس حاکم ده شهر شو.»

¹⁸ “The second came, saying, ‘Your mina, Lord, has made five minas.’

¹⁸دومی آمد و گفت: ارباب، پول تو پنج برابر شده است.»

¹⁹ “So he said to him, ‘And you are to be over five cities.’

¹⁹به او هم گفت: «تو هم حاکم پنج شهر باش.»

²⁰ Another came, saying, ‘Lord, behold, your mina, which I kept laid away in a handkerchief,

²⁰سومی آمد و گفت: «ارباب، بفرما، این پول تو است. آنرا در دستمالی پیچیده کنار گذاشتم.

²¹ for I feared you, because you are an exacting man. You take up that which you didn’t lay down, and reap that which you didn’t sow.’

²¹از تو می ترسیدم چون مرد سختگیری هستی. آنچه را که اصلاً نگذاشته ای بر می داری و آنچه را که نکاشته ای درو می کنی.»

²² “He said to him, ‘Out of your own mouth will I judge you, you wicked servant! You knew that I am an exacting man, taking up that which I didn’t lay down, and reaping that which I didn’t sow.

²²ارباب جواب داد: «ای غلام پست نهاد، ترا با حرف های خودت ملامت می کنم. تو که می دانستی من مرد سختگیری هستم که نگذاشته را بر می دارم و نکاشته را درو می کنم،

²³ Then why didn’t you deposit my money in the bank, and at my coming, I might have earned interest on it?’

²³پس چرا پول مرا سر سود ندادی تا بتوانم در موقع مراجعت آنرا با سودش دریافت کنم؟»

²⁴ He said to those who stood by, ‘Take the mina away from him, and give it to him who has the ten minas.’

²⁴به حاضران گفت: «پول را از او بگیرید و به غلامی که ده سکه دارد بدهید.»

²⁵ “They said to him, ‘Lord, he has ten minas!’

²⁵آن ها جواب دادند: «اما ای آقا، او که ده سکه دارد!»

²⁶ ‘For I tell you that to everyone who has, will more be given; but from him who doesn’t have, even that which he has will be taken away from him.

²⁶او گفت: «بدانید، هر که دارد، بیشتر به او داده می شود و اما آنکسی که ندارد حتی آنچه را هم که دارد از دست خواهد داد.

²⁷ But bring those enemies of mine who didn’t want me to reign over them here, and kill them before me.’”

²⁷و اما آن دشمنان من که نمی خواستند بر آنها حکومت نمایم، ایشان را اینجا بیآورید و در حضور من گردن بزنید.»

²⁸Having said these things, he went on ahead, going up to Jerusalem.

²⁸عیسی اینرا فرمود و پیشتر از آن ها راه اورشلیم را در پیش گرفت.

²⁹It happened, when he drew near to Bethsphage TR, NU read “Bethpage” instead of “Bethsphage” and Bethany, at the mountain that is called Olivet, he sent two of his disciples,

²⁹وقتی که به بیت فاجی و بیت عنیا واقع در کوه زیتون نزدیک شد دو نفر از شاگردان خود را به این امر روانه کرد:

³⁰saying, “Go your way into the village on the other side, in which, as you enter, you will find a colt tied, whereon no man ever yet sat. Untie it, and bring it.

³⁰«به دهکده رو به رو بروید. همین که وارد آن شدید کره الاغی را در آنجا بسته خواهید دید که هنوز کسی بر آن سوار نشده است. آنرا باز کنید و به این جا بیآورید.

³¹ If anyone asks you, ‘Why are you untying it?’ say to him: ‘The Lord needs it.’”

³¹اگر کسی پرسید: «چرا آنرا باز می کنید؟» بگویید: «خداوند آنرا به کار دارد.»»

³²Those who were sent went away, and found things just as he had told them.

³²آن دو نفر رفتند و همه چیز را همانطور که عیسی گفته بود دیدند.

³³As they were untying the colt, its owners said to them, “Why are you untying the colt?”

³³وقتی کره الاغ را باز می کردند صاحبانش پرسیدند: «چرا آن کره را باز می کنید؟»

³⁴They said, “The Lord needs it.”

³⁴جواب دادند: «خداوند آنرا به کار دارد.»

³⁵They brought it to Jesus. They threw their cloaks on the colt, and set Jesus on them.

³⁵پس کره الاغ را پیش عیسی آوردند. بعد لباسهای خود را روی آن کره الاغ انداختند و عیسی را بر آن سوار کردند

³⁶As he went, they spread their cloaks in the way.

³⁶و همین طور که او می رفت جاده را با لباسهای خود فرش می کردند.

³⁷As he was now getting near, at the descent of the Mount of Olives, the whole multitude of the disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works which they had seen,

³⁷در این هنگام که او به دامنۀ کوه زیتون نزدیک می شد تمام شاگردان با خوشی برای همه معجزاتی که دیده بودند با صدای بلند شروع به حمد و سپاس خدا کردند

³⁸saying, “Blessed is the King who comes in the name of the Lord! Psalm 118:26 Peace in heaven, and glory in the highest!”

³⁸و می گفتند: «مبارک باد آن پادشاهی که بنام خداوند می آید. سلامتی در آسمان و جلال در عرش برین باد.»

³⁹Some of the Pharisees from the multitude said to him, “Teacher, rebuke your disciples!”

³⁹چند نفر فریسی که در میان مردم بودند به او گفتند: «ای استاد، به شاگردانت امر کن که خاموش شوند.»

⁴⁰He answered them, “I tell you that if these were silent, the stones would cry out.”

⁴⁰عیسی جواب داد: «بدانید که اگر اینها خاموش بمانند سنگها به فریاد خواهند آمد.»

⁴¹When he drew near, he saw the city and wept over it,

⁴¹عیسی به شهر نزدیک تر شد و وقتی شهر از دور دیده شد بخاطر آن گریه کرد

⁴²saying, “If you, even you, had known today the things which belong to your peace! But now, they are hidden from your eyes.

⁴²و گفت: «کاش که امروز سرچشمه صلح و سلامتی را می شناختی. اما نه، این از چشمان تو پنهان است

⁴³ For the days will come on you, when your enemies will throw up a barricade against you, surround you, hem you in on every side,

⁴³و زمانی خواهد آمد که دشمنانت به مقابل تو سنگربندی خواهند کرد و به دور تو حلقه خواهند زد و ترا از همه طرف محاصره خواهند کرد

⁴⁴ and will dash you and your children within you to the ground. They will not leave in you one stone on another, because you didn’t know the time of your visitation.”

⁴⁴و تو و ساکنانت را در میان دیوار هایت به خاک خواهند کوفت و در تو، سنگی را روی سنگ دیگر باقی نخواهند گذاشت، چون تو وقت دیدار پُر فیض خدا را درک نکردی.»

⁴⁵He entered into the temple, and began to drive out those who bought and sold in it,

⁴⁵بعد از آن عیسی وارد عبادتگاه شد و به بیرون راندن فروشندگان پرداخت و گفت:

⁴⁶saying to them, “It is written, ‘My house is a house of prayer,’ Isaiah 56:7 but you have made it a ‘den of robbers’!” Jeremiah 7:11

⁴⁶«نوشته شده است که: خانۀ من جای عبادت خواهد بود، اما شما آن را خانه دزدان ساخته اید.»

⁴⁷He was teaching daily in the temple, but the chief priests and the scribes and the leading men among the people sought to destroy him.

⁴⁷همه روزه عیسی در عبادتگاه تعلیم می داد و سران کاهنان و علمای دین کوشش می کردند که با کمک بزرگان شهر او را از بین ببرنداما دیدند که کاری از دست شان بر نمی آید چون همۀ مردم با علاقه زیاد به سخنان او گوش می دادند.

⁴⁸They couldn’t find what they might do, for all the people hung on to every word that he said.
