¹He also spoke a parable to them that they must always pray, and not give up,

¹عیسی برای آنها مَثَلی آورد تا نشان دهد که باید همیشه دعا کنند و هرگز دلسرد نشوند.

²saying, “There was a judge in a certain city who didn’t fear God, and didn’t respect man.

²او فرمود: «در شهری قاضی ای بود که نه ترس از خدا داشت و نه توجهی به خلق.

³ A widow was in that city, and she often came to him, saying, ‘Defend me from my adversary!’

³در همان شهر بیوه زنی زندگی می کرد که پیش او می آمد و از دست دشمن خود شکایت می کرد.

⁴ He wouldn’t for a while, but afterward he said to himself, ‘Though I neither fear God, nor respect man,

⁴قاضی تا مدت زیادی به شکایت او توجهی نکرد اما آخر پیش خود گفت: «درست است که من ترسی از خدا و توجهی به خلق خدا ندارم،

⁵ yet because this widow bothers me, I will defend her, or else she will wear me out by her continual coming.’”

⁵اما این بیوه زن مایۀ دردسر من شده است و برای اینکه با اصرار خود مرا به تنگ نسازد به داد او خواهم رسید.»»

⁶The Lord said, “Listen to what the unrighteous judge says.

⁶عیسی خداوند فرمود: «آنچه را قاضی بی انصاف گفت شنیدید.

⁷ Won’t God avenge his chosen ones, who are crying out to him day and night, and yet he exercises patience with them?

⁷آیا خدا به داد خواهی برگزیدگان خود که شب و روز به درگاهش عذر و زاری می کنند توجه نخواهد کرد و آیا برای کمک به آن ها عجله نخواهد نمود؟

⁸ I tell you that he will avenge them quickly. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth?”

⁸بدانید که او بزودی و به نفع آنها دادرسی خواهد کرد. اما وقتی پسر انسان می آید آیا اثری از ایمان بر روی زمین خواهد یافت؟»

⁹He spoke also this parable to certain people who were convinced of their own righteousness, and who despised all others.

⁹همچنین عیسی برای کسانی که از نیکی خود مطمئن بودند و سایرین را از خود پست تر می شمردند این مَثَل را آورده گفت:

¹⁰ “Two men went up into the temple to pray; one was a Pharisee, and the other was a tax collector.

¹⁰«دو نفر برای دعا به عبادتگاه رفتند، یکی فریسی و دیگری جزیه گیر بود.

¹¹ The Pharisee stood and prayed to himself like this: ‘God, I thank you, that I am not like the rest of men, extortioners, unrighteous, adulterers, or even like this tax collector.

¹¹آن فریسی ایستاد و با خود دعا کرد و گفت: «ای خدا، تو را شکر می کنم که مانند دیگران، حریص و نادرست و زناکار و یا مانند این جزیه گیر نیستم.

¹² I fast twice a week. I give tithes of all that I get.’

¹²هفته ای دو بار روزه می گیرم. ده یک همۀ چیزهائی را که به دست می آورم می دهم.»

¹³ But the tax collector, standing far away, wouldn’t even lift up his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying, ‘God, be merciful to me, a sinner!’

¹³اما آن جزیه گیر دور ایستاد و جرأت نگاه کردن به آسمان را نداشت بلکه به سینۀ خود می زد و می گفت: «ای خدا، بر منِ گناهکار رحم کن!»

¹⁴ I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other; for everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but he who humbles himself will be exalted.”

¹⁴بدانید که این جزیه گیر بخشوده شده به خانه رفت و نه آن دیگری. هر که خود را بزرگ نماید خوار خواهد شد و هرکه خود را خوار سازد سرافراز خواهد گردید.»

¹⁵They were also bringing their babies to him, that he might touch them. But when the disciples saw it, they rebuked them.

¹⁵مردم حتی کودکان را به حضور عیسی می آوردند تا بر آن ها دست بگذارد اما شاگردان وقتی این را دیدند آن ها را سرزنش کردند.

¹⁶Jesus summoned them, saying, “Allow the little children to come to me, and don’t hinder them, for the Kingdom of God belongs to such as these.

¹⁶اما عیسی کودکان را پیش خود خواست و فرمود: «بگذارید کودکان پیش من بیایند و مانع آنها نشوید، چون پادشاهی خدا به چنین کسانی تعلق دارد.

¹⁷ Most certainly, I tell you, whoever doesn’t receive the Kingdom of God like a little child, he will in no way enter into it.”

¹⁷بیقین بدانید اگر کسی پادشاهی خدا را مانند یک کودک نپذیرد هیچوقت وارد آن نخواهد شد.»

¹⁸A certain ruler asked him, saying, “Good Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?”

¹⁸شخصی از اشراف یهود از عیسی پرسید: «ای استاد نیکو، من برای به دست آوردن زندگی ابدی چه باید بکنم؟»

¹⁹Jesus asked him, “Why do you call me good? No one is good, except one—God.

¹⁹عیسی به او فرمود: «چرا مرا نیکو می گویی؟ هیچکس جز خدا نیکو نیست.

²⁰ You know the commandments: ‘Don’t commit adultery,’ ‘Don’t murder,’ ‘Don’t steal,’ ‘Don’t give false testimony,’ ‘Honor your father and your mother.’” Exodus 20:12-16; Deuteronomy 5:16-20

²⁰احکام را می دانی ـ زنا نکن، قتل نکن، دزدی نکن، شهادت نادرست نده، پدرت و مادرت را احترام کن.»

²¹He said, “I have observed all these things from my youth up.”

²¹آن مرد جواب داد: «من از جوانی همۀ اینها را بجا آورده ام.»

²²When Jesus heard these things, he said to him, “You still lack one thing. Sell all that you have, and distribute it to the poor. You will have treasure in heaven. Come, follow me.”

²²عیسی وقتی این را شنید فرمود: «هنوز یک چیز کم داری، آنچه داری بفروش و میان فقرا تقسیم کن که در عالم بالا گنجی خواهی داشت و بعد بیا از من پیروی کن.»

²³But when he heard these things, he became very sad, for he was very rich.

²³اما او از این سخنان افسرده شد، چون مرد بسیار توانگری بود.

²⁴Jesus, seeing that he became very sad, said, “How hard it is for those who have riches to enter into the Kingdom of God!

²⁴عیسی وقتی این را دید فرمود: «چه مشکل است ورود ثروتمندان به پادشاهی خدا!

²⁵ For it is easier for a camel to enter in through a needle’s eye, than for a rich man to enter into the Kingdom of God.”

²⁵گذشتن شتر از سوراخ سوزن آسانتر است از داخل شدن توانگری به پادشاهی خدا.»

²⁶Those who heard it said, “Then who can be saved?”

²⁶شنوندگان پرسیدند: «پس کی می تواند نجات یابد؟»

²⁷But he said, “The things which are impossible with men are possible with God.”

²⁷جواب داد: «آنچه برای آدمیان غیرممکن است برای خدا امکان دارد!»

²⁸Peter said, “Look, we have left everything, and followed you.”

²⁸پِترُس گفت: «ببین، ما از همه چیز خود دست کشیده ایم و پیرو تو شده ایم.»

²⁹He said to them, “Most certainly I tell you, there is no one who has left house, or wife, or brothers, or parents, or children, for the Kingdom of God’s sake,

²⁹عیسی فرمود: «بیقین بدانید که هر کس به خاطر پادشاهی خدا، خانه یا زن، برادران، والدین یا فرزندان خود را ترک نماید،

³⁰ who will not receive many times more in this time, and in the world to come, eternal life.”

³⁰در این دنیا چندین برابر عوض خواهد گرفت و در آخرت، زندگی ابدی نصیب او خواهد شد.»

³¹He took the twelve aside, and said to them, “Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and all the things that are written through the prophets concerning the Son of Man will be completed.

³¹عیسی دوازده شاگرد خود را به کناری برد و به آنها فرمود: «ما اکنون به اورشلیم می رویم و آنچه انبیاء دربارۀ پسر انسان نوشته اند به حقیقت خواهد پیوست.

³² For he will be delivered up to the Gentiles, will be mocked, treated shamefully, and spit on.

³²او به دست بیگانگان تسلیم خواهد شد، او را مسخره خواهند کرد و با او بدرفتاری نموده به رویش آب دهان خواهند انداخت.

³³ They will scourge and kill him. On the third day, he will rise again.”

³³او را تازیانه زده خواهند کشت. اما در روز سوم باز زنده خواهد شد.»

³⁴They understood none of these things. This saying was hidden from them, and they didn’t understand the things that were said.

³⁴اما شاگردان از این همه، چیزی نفهمیدند و این سخن برای ایشان نامفهوم بود و درک نمی کردند که دربارۀ چه چیز صحبت می کند.

³⁵It happened, as he came near Jericho, a certain blind man sat by the road, begging.

³⁵هنگامی که عیسی به نزدیکی اریحا رسید کوری در کنار راه نشسته بود و گدایی می کرد.

³⁶Hearing a multitude going by, he asked what this meant.

³⁶همین که شنید جمعیتی از آنجا می گذرد، پرسید چه شده است؟

³⁷They told him that Jesus of Nazareth was passing by.

³⁷به او گفتند: «عیسی ناصری از اینجا می گذرد.»

³⁸He cried out, “Jesus, you son of David, have mercy on me!”

³⁸پس فریاد زد: «ای عیسی، ای پسر داود، به من رحم کن.»

³⁹Those who led the way rebuked him, that he should be quiet; but he cried out all the more, “You son of David, have mercy on me!”

³⁹اشخاصی که در پیش بودند به تندی با او حرف زده گفتند: «خاموش باش»، اما او هر چه بلندتر فریاد می کرد: «ای پسر داود، به من رحم کن.»

⁴⁰Standing still, Jesus commanded him to be brought to him. When he had come near, he asked him,

⁴⁰عیسی ایستاد و امر کرد آن مرد را پیش او بیاورند. وقتی آمد از او پرسید:

⁴¹ “What do you want me to do?” He said, “Lord, that I may see again.”

⁴¹«چه می خواهی برایت بکنم؟» جواب داد: «ای آقا، می خواهم بار دیگر بینا شوم.»

⁴²Jesus said to him, “Receive your sight. Your faith has healed you.”

⁴²عیسی به او فرمود: «بینا شو، ایمانت تو را شفا داده است.»فوراً بینایی خود را باز یافت و در حالی که خدا را تمجید می کرد به دنبال عیسی رفت. همۀ مردم به خاطر آنچه دیده بودند خدا را حمد گفتند.

⁴³Immediately he received his sight, and followed him, glorifying God. All the people, when they saw it, praised God.

⁴³فوراً بینایی خود را باز یافت و در حالی که خدا را تمجید می کرد به دنبال عیسی رفت. همۀ مردم به خاطر آنچه دیده بودند خدا را حمد گفتند.
