¹Now the feast of unleavened bread, which is called the Passover, drew near.

¹عید فطیر که به فِصَح معروف است نزدیک می شد.

²The chief priests and the scribes sought how they might put him to death, for they feared the people.

²سران کاهنان و علما میخواستند بهانه ای پیدا نموده عیسی را به قتل برسانند زیرا از تودۀ مردم بیم داشتند.

³Satan entered into Judas, who was surnamed Iscariot, who was numbered with the twelve.

³شیطان به دل یهودا که لقب اسخریوطی داشت و یکی از دوازده حواری بود وارد شد.

⁴He went away, and talked with the chief priests and captains about how he might deliver him to them.

⁴یهودا پیش سران کاهنان و صاحب منصبانی که مسئول نگهبانی از عبادتگاه بودند رفت و با آنها در این خصوص که چگونه عیسی را به دست آنها تسلیم کند صحبت کرد.

⁵They were glad, and agreed to give him money.

⁵ایشان بسیار خوشحال شدند و وعده کردند مبلغی پول به او بدهند.

⁶He consented, and sought an opportunity to deliver him to them in the absence of the multitude.

⁶یهودا موافقت کرد و پی فرصت می گشت تا عیسی را دور از چشم مردم به دست آنها بسپارد.

⁷The day of unleavened bread came, on which the Passover must be sacrificed.

⁷روز عید فطیر که در آن قربانی فِصَح می باید ذبح شود فرا رسید.

⁸He sent Peter and John, saying, “Go and prepare the Passover for us, that we may eat.”

⁸عیسی پِترُس و یوحنا را با این امر روانه کرد: «بروید نان فِصَح را برای ما تهیه کنید تا بخوریم.»

⁹They said to him, “Where do you want us to prepare?”

⁹آن ها پرسیدند: «کجا می خواهی تهیه کنیم؟»

¹⁰He said to them, “Behold, when you have entered into the city, a man carrying a pitcher of water will meet you. Follow him into the house which he enters.

¹⁰عیسی جواب داد: «گوش بدهید، وقتی که به شهر قدم بگذارید مردی با شما روبرو خواهد شد که کوزۀ آبی را می برد. به دنبال او به داخل خانه ای که او می رود بروید

¹¹ Tell the master of the house, ‘The Teacher says to you, “Where is the guest room, where I may eat the Passover with my disciples?”’

¹¹و به صاحب آن خانه بگوئید: «استاد می گوید آن اطاقی که من با شاگردانم قربانی فِصَح را در آنجا خواهم خورد کجاست؟»

¹² He will show you a large, furnished upper room. Make preparations there.”

¹²او اطاق بزرگ و فرش شده را در منزل دوم به شما نشان می دهد. در آنجا تدارک ببینید.»

¹³They went, found things as he had told them, and they prepared the Passover.

¹³آن ها رفتند و همه چیز را آنطور که او فرموده بود مشاهده کردند و به این ترتیب قربانی فِصَح را تهیه کردند.

¹⁴When the hour had come, he sat down with the twelve apostles.

¹⁴وقتی ساعت معین فرا رسید عیسی با رسولان سر دسترخوان نشست

¹⁵He said to them, “I have earnestly desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer,

¹⁵و به آنها فرمود: «چقدر دلم می خواست که پیش از مرگم این قربانی فِصَح را با شما بخورم.

¹⁶ for I tell you, I will no longer by any means eat of it until it is fulfilled in the Kingdom of God.”

¹⁶به شما می گویم تا آن زمان که این قربانی فِصَح در پادشاهی خدا به کمال مقصد خود نرسد دیگر از آن نخواهم خورد.»

¹⁷He received a cup, and when he had given thanks, he said, “Take this, and share it among yourselves,

¹⁷بعد پیاله ای به دست گرفت و پس از شکرگزاری گفت: «این را بگیرید و بین خود تان تقسیم کنید،

¹⁸ for I tell you, I will not drink at all again from the fruit of the vine, until the Kingdom of God comes.”

¹⁸چون به شما می گویم از این لحظه تا آن زمان که پادشاهی خدا فرا می رسد من دیگر از میوۀ تاک نخواهم نوشید.»

¹⁹He took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it, and gave to them, saying, “This is my body which is given for you. Do this in memory of me.”

¹⁹همچنین کمی نان برداشت و پس از شکرگزاری آن را پاره کرد و به آنها داد و فرمود: «این بدن من است که برای شما داده می شود. این کار را به یادبود من انجام دهید.»

²⁰Likewise, he took the cup after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out for you.

²⁰به همین ترتیب بعد از شام پیاله ای را به آنها داد و فرمود: «این پیاله عهد و پیمان نو است در خون من که برای شما ریخته می شود.

²¹ But behold, the hand of him who betrays me is with me on the table.

²¹اما بدانید که دست تسلیم کنندۀ من با دست من سر دسترخوان است.

²² The Son of Man indeed goes, as it has been determined, but woe to that man through whom he is betrayed!”

²²البته پسر انسان بسوی آنچه برایش مقرر است می رود. اما وای به حال آن کسی که او را تسلیم می کند.»

²³They began to question among themselves, which of them it was who would do this thing.

²³آنها از خود شان شروع به سؤال کردند که کدام یک از آن ها چنین کاری خواهد کرد.

²⁴There arose also a contention among them, which of them was considered to be greatest.

²⁴در میان شاگردان بحثی درگرفت که کدامیک در میان آنها از همه بزرگتر شمرده می شود.

²⁵He said to them, “The kings of the nations lord it over them, and those who have authority over them are called ‘benefactors.’

²⁵عیسی فرمود: «در میان ملتهای بیگانه، پادشاهان بر مردم حکمروایی می کنند و صاحبان قدرت «ولی نعمت» خوانده می شوند،

²⁶ But not so with you. But one who is the greater among you, let him become as the younger, and one who is governing, as one who serves.

²⁶اما شما اینطور نباشید، برعکس، بزرگترین شخص در میان شما باید به صورت کوچکترین درآید و رئیس مثل نوکر باشد،

²⁷ For who is greater, one who sits at the table, or one who serves? Isn’t it he who sits at the table? But I am in the midst of you as one who serves.

²⁷زیرا چه کسی بزرگتر است، آن کسی که بر سر دسترخوان می نشیند یا آن نوکری که خدمت می کند؟ یقیناً آن کسی که بر سر دسترخوان می نشیند. با وجود این من در میان شما مثل یک خدمتگزار هستم.

²⁸ But you are those who have continued with me in my trials.

²⁸شما کسانی هستید که در سختی های من با من بوده اید.

²⁹ I confer on you a kingdom, even as my Father conferred on me,

²⁹همانطور که پدر، حق پادشاهی را به من سپرد، من هم به شما می سپارم.

³⁰ that you may eat and drink at my table in my Kingdom. You will sit on thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.”

³⁰شما در پادشاهی من سر دسترخوان من خواهید خورد و خواهید نوشید و به عنوان داوران دوازده طایفۀ اسرائیل بر تختها خواهید نشست.

³¹The Lord said, “Simon, Simon, behold, Satan asked to have you, that he might sift you as wheat,

³¹ای شمعون، ای شمعون، ببین: شیطان خواست مثل دهقانی که گندم را از کاه جدا می کند همۀ شما را بیازمآید.

³² but I prayed for you, that your faith wouldn’t fail. You, when once you have turned again, establish your brothers The word for “brothers” here may be also correctly translated “brothers and sisters” or “siblings.” .”

³²اما من برای تو دعا کرده ام که ایمانت از بین نرود و وقتی برگشتی برادرانت را استوار گردان.»

³³He said to him, “Lord, I am ready to go with you both to prison and to death!”

³³شمعون جواب داد: «ای خداوند، من حاضرم با تو به زندان بیفتم و با تو بمیرم.»

³⁴He said, “I tell you, Peter, the rooster will by no means crow today until you deny that you know me three times.”

³⁴عیسی فرمود: «ای پِترُس، آگاه باش امروز پیش از آنکه خروس بانگ بزند تو سه بار خواهی گفت که مرا نمی شناسی.»

³⁵He said to them, “When I sent you out without purse, and wallet, and shoes, did you lack anything?” They said, “Nothing.”

³⁵عیسی به ایشان فرمود: «وقتی شما را بدون بوت و بکس و خرجین روانه کردم آیا چیزی کم داشتید؟» جواب دادند: «نخیر.»

³⁶Then he said to them, “But now, whoever has a purse, let him take it, and likewise a wallet. Whoever has none, let him sell his cloak, and buy a sword.

³⁶به ایشان گفت: «اما حالا هر که یک بکس دارد بهتر است که آن را با خود بردارد و همینطور خورجینش را و چنانچه شمشیر ندارد چپن خود را بفروشد و شمشیری بخرد،

³⁷ For I tell you that this which is written must still be fulfilled in me: ‘He was counted with transgressors.’ Isaiah 53:12 For that which concerns me has an end.”

³⁷چون می خواهم بدانید که این پیشگویی که می گوید: «او در زمرۀ جنایتکاران به حساب آمد»، باید در مورد من به انجام برسد و در واقع همه چیزهائی که دربارۀ من نوشته شده در حال انجام است.»

³⁸They said, “Lord, behold, here are two swords.” He said to them, “That is enough.”

³⁸آن ها گفتند: «خداوندا، نگاه کن، اینجا دو شمشیر داریم.» ولی او جواب داد: «کافی است.»

³⁹He came out, and went, as his custom was, to the Mount of Olives. His disciples also followed him.

³⁹عیسی بیرون آمد و مثل همیشه رهسپار کوه زیتون شد و شاگردانش همراه او بودند.

⁴⁰When he was at the place, he said to them, “Pray that you don’t enter into temptation.”

⁴⁰وقتی به آن محل رسید به آنها فرمود: «دعا کنید که از آزمایش ها دور بمانید.»

⁴¹He was withdrawn from them about a stone’s throw, and he knelt down and prayed,

⁴¹عیسی به اندازۀ پرتاب یک سنگ از آنها فاصله گرفت، زانو زد و چنین دعا کرد:

⁴²saying, “Father, if you are willing, remove this cup from me. Nevertheless, not my will, but yours, be done.”

⁴²«ای پدر، اگر ارادۀ توست، این پیاله را از من دور کن. اما نه ارادۀ من بلکه ارادۀ تو به انجام برسد.»

⁴³An angel from heaven appeared to him, strengthening him.

⁴³فرشته ای از آسمان به او ظاهر شد و او را تقویت کرد.

⁴⁴Being in agony he prayed more earnestly. His sweat became like great drops of blood falling down on the ground.

⁴⁴عیسی در شدت اضطراب و با حرارت بیشتری دعا کرد و عرق او مثل قطره های خون بر زمین می چکید.

⁴⁵When he rose up from his prayer, he came to the disciples, and found them sleeping because of grief,

⁴⁵وقتی از دعا برخاست و پیش شاگردان آمد آنها را دید که در اثر غم و اندوه به خواب رفته بودند.

⁴⁶and said to them, “Why do you sleep? Rise and pray that you may not enter into temptation.”

⁴⁶به ایشان فرمود: «خواب هستید؟ برخیزید و دعا کنید تا از آزمایش ها دور بمانید.»

⁴⁷While he was still speaking, behold, a multitude, and he who was called Judas, one of the twelve, was leading them. He came near to Jesus to kiss him.

⁴⁷عیسی هنوز صحبت می کرد که جمعیتی دیده شد و یهودا، یکی از آن دوازده حواری، پیشاپیش آنها بود. یهودا پیش عیسی آمد تا او را ببوسد.

⁴⁸But Jesus said to him, “Judas, do you betray the Son of Man with a kiss?”

⁴⁸اما عیسی به او فرمود: «ای یهودا، آیا پسر انسان را با بوسه تسلیم می کنی؟»

⁴⁹When those who were around him saw what was about to happen, they said to him, “Lord, shall we strike with the sword?”

⁴⁹وقتی پیروان او آنچه را که در جریان بود دیدند گفتند: «خداوندا، شمشیرهای خود را به کار ببریم؟»

⁵⁰A certain one of them struck the servant of the high priest, and cut off his right ear.

⁵⁰و یکی از آنها به غلام کاهن اعظم زد و گوش راستش را برید.

⁵¹But Jesus answered, “Let me at least do this” —and he touched his ear, and healed him.

⁵¹اما عیسی جواب داد: «دست نگهدارید.» و گوش آن مرد را لمس کرد و شفا داد.

⁵²Jesus said to the chief priests, captains of the temple, and elders, who had come against him, “Have you come out as against a robber, with swords and clubs?

⁵²سپس عیسی به سران کاهنان و صاحب منصبانی که مسئول نگهبانی از عبادتگاه بودند و بزرگانی که برای گرفتن او آمده بودند فرمود: «مگر من یاغی هستم که با شمشیر و چوب برای دستگیری من آمده اید؟

⁵³ When I was with you in the temple daily, you didn’t stretch out your hands against me. But this is your hour, and the power of darkness.”

⁵³من هر روز در عبادتگاه با شما بودم و شما دست به طرف من دراز نکردید. اما این ساعت که تاریکی حکمفرما است، ساعت شما است.»

⁵⁴They seized him, and led him away, and brought him into the high priest’s house. But Peter followed from a distance.

⁵⁴عیسی را دستگیر کردند و به خانۀ کاهن اعظم آوردند. پِترُس از دور بدنبال آن ها می آمد.

⁵⁵When they had kindled a fire in the middle of the courtyard, and had sat down together, Peter sat among them.

⁵⁵در بین حویلی خانۀ کاهن اعظم عده ای آتشی روشن کرده و دور آن نشسته بودند. پِترُس نیز در بین آنها نشست.

⁵⁶A certain servant girl saw him as he sat in the light, and looking intently at him, said, “This man also was with him.”

⁵⁶در حالی که او در روشنایی آتش نشسته بود کنیزی او را دید به او نگاه کرده گفت: «این مرد هم با عیسی بود.»

⁵⁷He denied Jesus, saying, “Woman, I don’t know him.”

⁵⁷اما پِترُس منکر شد و گفت: «ای زن، من او را نمی شناسم.»

⁵⁸After a little while someone else saw him, and said, “You also are one of them!” But Peter answered, “Man, I am not!”

⁵⁸کمی بعد یک نفر دیگر متوجه او شد و گفت: «تو هم یکی از آن ها هستی.» اما پِترُس به او گفت: «ای مرد، من نیستم.»

⁵⁹After about one hour passed, another confidently affirmed, saying, “Truly this man also was with him, for he is a Galilean!”

⁵⁹تقریباً یک ساعت گذشت و یکی دیگر با تأکید بیشتری گفت: «البته این مرد هم با او بوده چون که جلیلی است.»

⁶⁰But Peter said, “Man, I don’t know what you are talking about!” Immediately, while he was still speaking, a rooster crowed.

⁶⁰اما پِترُس گفت: «ای مرد، من نمی دانم تو چه می گویی.» در حالی که او هنوز صحبت می کرد بانگ خروس برخاست

⁶¹The Lord turned, and looked at Peter. Then Peter remembered the Lord’s word, how he said to him, “Before the rooster crows you will deny me three times.”

⁶¹و عیسی خداوند برگشت و مستقیماً به پِترُس نگاه کرد و پِترُس سخنان خداوند را به خاطر آورد که به او گفته بود: «امروز پیش از این که خروس بانگ بزند تو سه بار خواهی گفت که مرا نمی شناسی.»

⁶²He went out, and wept bitterly.

⁶²پِترُس بیرون رفت و زار زار گریست.

⁶³The men who held Jesus mocked him and beat him.

⁶³کسانی که عیسی را تحت نظر داشتند او را مسخره کردند، لت و کوب کردند،

⁶⁴Having blindfolded him, they struck him on the face and asked him, “Prophesy! Who is the one who struck you?”

⁶⁴چشمانش را بستند و می گفتند: «حالا از غیب بگو کی تو را می زند»

⁶⁵They spoke many other things against him, insulting him.

⁶⁵و به این طرز به او بی حرمتی می کردند.

⁶⁶As soon as it was day, the assembly of the elders of the people was gathered together, both chief priests and scribes, and they led him away into their council, saying,

⁶⁶همین که هوا روشن شد بزرگان قوم، سران کاهنان و علمای یهود تشکیل جلسه دادند و عیسی را به حضور شورا آوردند

⁶⁷“If you are the Christ, tell us.” But he said to them, “If I tell you, you won’t believe,

⁶⁷و گفتند: «به ما بگو آیا تو مسیح هستی؟» عیسی جواب داد: «اگر به شما بگویم، گفتۀ مرا باور نخواهید کرد

⁶⁸ and if I ask, you will in no way answer me or let me go.

⁶⁸و اگر سؤال بکنم، جواب نمی دهید.

⁶⁹ From now on, the Son of Man will be seated at the right hand of the power of God.”

⁶⁹اما از این به بعد پسر انسان به دست راست خدای قادر خواهد نشست.» همگی گفتند: «پس پسر خدا هستی؟»

⁷⁰They all said, “Are you then the Son of God?” He said to them, “You say it, because I am.”

⁷⁰عیسی جواب داد: «خود تان می گویید که من هستم.»آن ها گفتند: «چه احتیاجی به شاهدان دیگر هست؟ ما موضوع را از زبان خودش شنیدیم.»

⁷¹They said, “Why do we need any more witness? For we ourselves have heard from his own mouth!”

⁷¹آن ها گفتند: «چه احتیاجی به شاهدان دیگر هست؟ ما موضوع را از زبان خودش شنیدیم.»
