¹The whole company of them rose up and brought him before Pilate.

¹سپس تمام حاضران در مجلس برخاستند و او را به حضور پیلاطُس آوردند

²They began to accuse him, saying, “We found this man perverting the nation, forbidding paying taxes to Caesar, and saying that he himself is Christ, a king.”

²به مقابل او شکایت خود را اینطور شروع کردند: «ما این شخص را در حالی دیدیم که به گمراه ساختن ملت ما مشغول بود. او با پرداخت مالیات به امپراطور مخالفت می کرد و ادعا می کند که مسیح یعنی پادشاه است.»

³Pilate asked him, “Are you the King of the Jews?” He answered him, “So you say.”

³پیلاطُس از او پرسید: «آیا تو پادشاه یهودیان هستی؟» عیسی جواب داد: «تو می گویی.»

⁴Pilate said to the chief priests and the multitudes, “I find no basis for a charge against this man.”

⁴پیلاطُس سپس به سران کاهنان و جماعت گفت: «من در این مرد هیچ جرمی نمی بینم.»

⁵But they insisted, saying, “He stirs up the people, teaching throughout all Judea, beginning from Galilee even to this place.”

⁵اما آنها پافشاری می کردند و گفتند: «او مردم را در سراسر یهودیه با تعالیم خود می شوراند. از جلیل شروع کرد و به اینجا رسیده است.»

⁶But when Pilate heard Galilee mentioned, he asked if the man was a Galilean.

⁶هنگامیکه پیلاطُس این را شنید پرسید که آیا این مرد جلیلی است.

⁷When he found out that he was in Herod’s jurisdiction, he sent him to Herod, who was also in Jerusalem during those days.

⁷وقتی مطلع شد که به قلمرو هیرودیس تعلق دارد او را پیش هیرودیس که در آن موقع در اورشلیم بود فرستاد.

⁸Now when Herod saw Jesus, he was exceedingly glad, for he had wanted to see him for a long time, because he had heard many things about him. He hoped to see some miracle done by him.

⁸وقتی هیرودیس عیسی را دید بسیار خوشحال شد، زیرا دربارۀ او مطالبی شنیده بود و مدت ها بود می خواست او را ببیند و امید داشت که شاهد معجزاتی از دست او باشد.

⁹He questioned him with many words, but he gave no answers.

⁹از او سؤالات فراوانی کرد اما عیسی هیچ جوابی نداد.

¹⁰The chief priests and the scribes stood, vehemently accusing him.

¹⁰سران کاهنان و علما پیش آمدند و تهمت های شدیدی به او زدند.

¹¹Herod with his soldiers humiliated him and mocked him. Dressing him in luxurious clothing, they sent him back to Pilate.

¹¹پس هیرودیس و عساکرش به عیسی بی حرمتی کرده او را مسخره نمودند و چپن زیبایی به او پوشانیده او را پیش پیلاطُس پس فرستاند.

¹²Herod and Pilate became friends with each other that very day, for before that they were enemies with each other.

¹²در همان روز هیرودیس و پیلاطُس آشتی کردند، زیرا دشمنی دیرینه ای تا آن زمان بین آن دو وجود داشت.

¹³Pilate called together the chief priests and the rulers and the people,

¹³پیلاطُس در این موقع سران کاهنان، بزرگان قوم و مردم را خواست

¹⁴and said to them, “You brought this man to me as one that perverts the people, and see, I have examined him before you, and found no basis for a charge against this man concerning those things of which you accuse him.

¹⁴و به آنها گفت: «شما این مرد را به تهمت اخلالگری پیش من آوردید. اما چنانکه می دانید خود من در حضور شما از او بازپرسی کردم و در او چیزی که تهمت های شما را تائید کند نیافتم.

¹⁵Neither has Herod, for I sent you to him, and see, nothing worthy of death has been done by him.

¹⁵هیرودیس هم دلیلی پیدا نکرد، چون او را پیش ما پس فرستاده است. واضح است که او کاری نکرده است که مستوجب مرگ باشد.

¹⁶I will therefore chastise him and release him.”

¹⁶بنابراین او را پس از تازیانه زدن آزاد می کنم.»[

¹⁷Now he had to release one prisoner to them at the feast.

¹⁷زیرا لازم بود که هر عیدی یک نفر زندانی را برای آن ها آزاد کند.]

¹⁸But they all cried out together, saying, “Away with this man! Release to us Barabbas!”—

¹⁸اما همه با صدای بلند گفتند: «مصلوبش کن! برای ما باراَبا را آزاد کن.»

¹⁹one who was thrown into prison for a certain revolt in the city, and for murder.

¹⁹(این شخص به خاطر شورشی که در شهر واقع شده بود و به علت آدمکشی زندانی شده بود.)

²⁰Then Pilate spoke to them again, wanting to release Jesus,

²⁰چون پیلاطُس می خواست عیسی را آزاد سازد بار دیگر سخن خود را به گوش جماعت رسانید.

²¹but they shouted, saying, “Crucify! Crucify him!”

²¹اما آن ها فریاد کردند: «مصلوبش کن، مصلوبش کن!»

²²He said to them the third time, “Why? What evil has this man done? I have found no capital crime in him. I will therefore chastise him and release him.”

²²برای سومین بار به ایشان گفت: «چرا؟ مرتکب چه جنایتی شده است؟ من او را در هیچ مورد، مستوجب مرگ ندیدم. بنابراین او را پس از تازیانه زدن آزاد می کنم.»

²³But they were urgent with loud voices, asking that he might be crucified. Their voices and the voices of the chief priests prevailed.

²³اما آنها در تقاضای خود پافشاری کردند و فریاد می زدند که عیسی باید به صلیب میخکوب شود. فریاد های ایشان غالب آمد

²⁴Pilate decreed that what they asked for should be done.

²⁴و پیلاطُس حکمی را که آنها می خواستند صادر کرد.

²⁵He released him who had been thrown into prison for insurrection and murder, for whom they asked, but he delivered Jesus up to their will.

²⁵بنابر درخواست ایشان، مردی را که به خاطر یاغیگری و آدم کشی به زندان افتاده بود آزاد کرد و عیسی را در اختیار آنها گذاشت.

²⁶When they led him away, they grabbed one Simon of Cyrene, coming from the country, and laid on him the cross, to carry it after Jesus.

²⁶هنگامی که او را برای مصلوب شدن می بردند مردی را به نام شمعون که اهل قیروان بود و از صحرا به شهر می آمد گرفتند. صلیب را روی دوش او گذاشتند و او را مجبور کردند که آن را به دنبال عیسی ببرد.

²⁷A great multitude of the people followed him, including women who also mourned and lamented him.

²⁷جمعیت بزرگی از جمله زنانی که به خاطر عیسی به سینه خود می زدند و ماتم می کردند از عقب او می آمدند.

²⁸But Jesus, turning to them, said, “Daughters of Jerusalem, don’t weep for me, but weep for yourselves and for your children.

²⁸عیسی رو به آنها کرد و فرمود: «ای دختران اورشلیم، برای من اشک نریزید، برای خود تان و فرزندان تان گریه کنید!

²⁹ For behold, the days are coming in which they will say, ‘Blessed are the barren, the wombs that never bore, and the breasts that never nursed.’

²⁹بدانید روزهائی خواهد آمد که خواهند گفت: خوشا به حال نازایان و رَحِم هائی که طفل نیاوردند و سینه های که شیر ندادند.

³⁰ Then they will begin to tell the mountains, ‘Fall on us!’ and tell the hills, ‘Cover us.’ Hosea 10:8

³⁰آن وقت به کوهها خواهند گفت: «به روی ما بیفتید.» و به تپه ها خواهند گفت: «ما را بپوشانید.»

³¹ For if they do these things in the green tree, what will be done in the dry?”

³¹اگر با چوبِ تر چنین کنند با چوب خشک چه خواهند کرد؟»

³²There were also others, two criminals, led with him to be put to death.

³²دو جنایتکار هم برای مصلوب شدن با او بودند.

³³When they came to the place that is called The Skull, they crucified him there with the criminals, one on the right and the other on the left.

³³و وقتی به محلی موسوم به «کاسۀ سر» رسیدند، او را در آنجا به صلیب میخکوب کردند. آن جنایتکاران را هم با او مصلوب نمودند، یکی را در سمت راست و دیگری را در سمت چپ او.

³⁴Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they don’t know what they are doing.” Dividing his garments among them, they cast lots.

³⁴عیسی گفت: «ای پدر، اینها را ببخش زیرا نمی دانند چه می کنند.» بالای لباس های او قرعه انداخته میان خود تقسیم کردند.

³⁵The people stood watching. The rulers with them also scoffed at him, saying, “He saved others. Let him save himself, if this is the Christ of God, his chosen one!”

³⁵مردم ایستاده تماشا می کردند و رؤسای آنها با ریشخند می گفتند: «دیگران را نجات داد. اگر این مرد مسیح و برگزیدۀ خدا است، حالا خودش را نجات دهد.»

³⁶The soldiers also mocked him, coming to him and offering him vinegar,

³⁶عساکر هم او را مسخره کردند و پیش آمده سرکه خود را به او تعارف کردند

³⁷and saying, “If you are the King of the Jews, save yourself!”

³⁷و گفتند: «اگر تو پادشاه یهودیان هستی خود را نجات بده.»

³⁸An inscription was also written over him in letters of Greek, Latin, and Hebrew: “THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS.”

³⁸در بالای سر او نوشته شده بود: «پادشاه یهودیان.»

³⁹One of the criminals who was hanged insulted him, saying, “If you are the Christ, save yourself and us!”

³⁹یکی از آن جنایتکار که به صلیب آویخته شده بود با ریشخند به او می گفت: «مگر تو مسیح نیستی؟ خودت و ما را نجات بده.»

⁴⁰But the other answered, and rebuking him said, “Don’t you even fear God, seeing you are under the same condemnation?

⁴⁰اما آن دیگری با ملامت به اولی جواب داد: «از خدا نمی ترسی؟ سر تو و او یک قسم حکم شده است.

⁴¹And we indeed justly, for we receive the due reward for our deeds, but this man has done nothing wrong.”

⁴¹در مورد ما منصفانه عمل شده، چون ما به سزای اعمال خود می رسیم، اما این مرد هیچ خطایی نکرده است.»

⁴²He said to Jesus, “Lord, remember me when you come into your Kingdom.”

⁴²و گفت: «ای عیسی، وقتی به پادشاهی خود رسیدی مرا به یاد داشته باش.»

⁴³Jesus said to him, “Assuredly I tell you, today you will be with me in Paradise.”

⁴³عیسی جواب داد: «خاطر جمع باش، امروز با من در فردوس خواهی بود.»

⁴⁴It was now about the sixth hour Time was counted from sunrise, so the sixth hour was about noon. , and darkness came over the whole land until the ninth hour. 3:00 PM

⁴⁴تقریباً ظهر بود، که تاریکی تمام آن سرزمین را فراگرفت و تا ساعت سه بعد از ظهر آفتاب گرفته شده بود

⁴⁵The sun was darkened, and the veil of the temple was torn in two.

⁴⁵و پردۀ عبادتگاه دو تکه شد.

⁴⁶Jesus, crying with a loud voice, said, “Father, into your hands I commit my spirit!” Having said this, he breathed his last.

⁴⁶عیسی با فریاد بلند گفت: «ای پدر، روح خود را به تو می سپارم.» این را گفت و جان داد.

⁴⁷When the centurion saw what was done, he glorified God, saying, “Certainly this was a righteous man.”

⁴⁷وقتی صاحب منصبی که مسئول نگهبانی بود این جریان را دید خدا را حمد کرد و گفت: «در واقع این مرد بی گناه بود.»

⁴⁸All the multitudes that came together to see this, when they saw the things that were done, returned home beating their breasts.

⁴⁸جمعیتی که برای تماشا گرد آمده بودند وقتی ماجرا را دیدند، سینه زنان به خانه های خود برگشتند.

⁴⁹All his acquaintances, and the women who followed with him from Galilee, stood at a distance, watching these things.

⁴⁹آشنایان عیسی و زنانی که از جلیل همراه او آمده بودند همگی در فاصلۀ دوری ایستاده بودند و جریان را می دیدند.

⁵⁰Behold, a man named Joseph, who was a member of the council, a good and righteous man

⁵⁰در آنجا مردی به نام یوسف حضور داشت که یکی از اعضای شورای یهود بود. او مردی نیکنام و درستکار بود.

⁵¹(he had not consented to their counsel and deed), from Arimathaea, a city of the Jews, who was also waiting for the Kingdom of God:

⁵¹یوسف به تصمیم شورا و کاری که در پیش گرفته بودند رأی مخالف داده بود. او از اهالی یک شهر یهودی به نام رامه بود و از آن کسانی بود که در انتظار پادشاهی خدا بسر می بردند.

⁵²this man went to Pilate, and asked for Jesus’ body.

⁵²این مرد در این موقع پیش پیلاطُس رفت و جنازۀ عیسی را خواست.

⁵³He took it down, and wrapped it in a linen cloth, and laid him in a tomb that was cut in stone, where no one had ever been laid.

⁵³سپس آن را پایین آورد و در کتان نازک پیچید و در مقبره ای که از سنگ تراشیده شده بود و پیش از آن کسی را در آن نگذاشته بودند قرار داد.

⁵⁴It was the day of the Preparation, and the Sabbath was drawing near.

⁵⁴آن روز، روز تهیه بود و روز سَبَت از آن ساعت شروع می شد.

⁵⁵The women, who had come with him out of Galilee, followed after, and saw the tomb, and how his body was laid.

⁵⁵زنانی که از جلیل همراه عیسی آمده بودند به دنبال یوسف رفتند. آن ها مقبره و جای دفن او را دیدند.سپس به خانه رفتند و حنوط و عطریات تهیه کردند و در روز سَبَت مطابق امر شریعت استراحت نمودند.

⁵⁶They returned, and prepared spices and ointments. On the Sabbath they rested according to the commandment.
