¹Immediately in the morning the chief priests, with the elders and scribes, and the whole council, held a consultation, and bound Jesus, and carried him away, and delivered him up to Pilate.

¹همین که صبح شد، سران کاهنان به همراهی بزرگان قوم و علمای دین و تمام اعضای شورای یهود با عجله جلسه ای تشکیل دادند. آن ها عیسی را با زنجیری بسته و به پیلاطُس تحویل دادند.

²Pilate asked him, “Are you the King of the Jews?” He answered, “So you say.”

²پیلاطُس از او پرسید: «آیا تو پادشاه یهود هستی؟» عیسی جواب داد: «همان است که می گویی.»

³The chief priests accused him of many things.

³سران کاهنان تهمت های زیادی به او نسبت دادند.

⁴Pilate again asked him, “Have you no answer? See how many things they testify against you!”

⁴پیلاطُس باز از او پرسید: «جوابی نداری؟ ببین چه تهمت های زیادی به تو نسبت می دهند.»

⁵But Jesus made no further answer, so that Pilate marveled.

⁵اما عیسی جوابی نداد، بطوری که باعث تعجب پیلاطُس شد.

⁶Now at the feast he used to release to them one prisoner, whom they asked of him.

⁶در هر عید فِصَح، پیلاطُس بنا به خواهش مردم یک زندانی را آزاد می کرد.

⁷There was one called Barabbas, bound with those who had made insurrection, men who in the insurrection had committed murder.

⁷در آن زمان مردی معروف به «باراَبا» همراه با یاغیانی که در یک آشوب مرتکب قتل شده بودند در زندان بود.

⁸The multitude, crying aloud, began to ask him to do as he always did for them.

⁸مردم پیش پیلاطُس رفتند و از او خواهش کردند که مثل همیشه این کار را برای شان انجام دهد.

⁹Pilate answered them, saying, “Do you want me to release to you the King of the Jews?”

⁹پیلاطُس از ایشان پرسید: «آیا می خواهید پادشاه یهود را برای شما آزاد کنم؟»

¹⁰For he perceived that for envy the chief priests had delivered him up.

¹⁰چون او می دانست که کاهنان از روی حسد عیسی را تسلیم کرده اند.

¹¹But the chief priests stirred up the multitude, that he should release Barabbas to them instead.

¹¹اما سران کاهنان مردم را تحریک کردند که از پیلاطُس بخواهند «باراَبا» را برای شان آزاد کند.

¹²Pilate again asked them, “What then should I do to him whom you call the King of the Jews?”

¹²پیلاطُس بار دیگر به ایشان گفت: «پس با مردی که او را پادشاه یهودیان می نامید چه کنم؟»

¹³They cried out again, “Crucify him!”

¹³آن ها در جواب با فریاد گفتند: «مصلوبش کن.»

¹⁴Pilate said to them, “Why, what evil has he done?” But they cried out exceedingly, “Crucify him!”

¹⁴پیلاطُس پرسید: «چرا؟ مرتکب چه جنایتی شده است؟» اما آنها شدیدتر فریاد می کردند: «مصلوبش کن!»

¹⁵Pilate, wishing to please the multitude, released Barabbas to them, and handed over Jesus, when he had flogged him, to be crucified.

¹⁵پس پیلاطُس که می خواست، مردم را راضی نگه دارد «باراَبا» را برای ایشان آزاد کرد و امر کرد عیسی را تازیانه زده، بسپارند تا مصلوب شود.

¹⁶The soldiers led him away within the court, which is the Praetorium; and they called together the whole cohort.

¹⁶عساکر عیسی را به داخل حویلی قصر والی بردند و تمام قشله را جمع کردند.

¹⁷They clothed him with purple, and weaving a crown of thorns, they put it on him.

¹⁷آن ها لباس ارغوانی به او پوشانیدند و تاجی از خار بافته و بر سرش گذاشتند

¹⁸They began to salute him, “Hail, King of the Jews!”

¹⁸و به او ادای احترام کرده می گفتند: «سلام، ای پادشاه یهود.»

¹⁹They struck his head with a reed, and spat on him, and bowing their knees, did homage to him.

¹⁹و با چوب بر سرش می زدند و برویش آب دهان می انداختند، بعد پیش او زانو زده و تعظیم می کردند.

²⁰When they had mocked him, they took the purple off of him, and put his own garments on him. They led him out to crucify him.

²⁰وقتی استهزا ها تمام شد، آن ها لباس ارغوانی را از تنش درآورده و لباس های خودش را به او پوشانیدند و او را بیرون بردند تا مصلوب کنند.

²¹They compelled one passing by, coming from the country, Simon of Cyrene, the father of Alexander and Rufus, to go with them, that he might bear his cross.

²¹آنها شخصی را به نام شَمعون، اهل قیروان، پدر اسکندر و روفُس که از صحرا به شهر می آمد و از آنجا می گذشت مجبور کردند که صلیب عیسی را ببرد.

²²They brought him to the place called Golgotha, which is, being interpreted, “The place of a skull.”

²²آن ها عیسی را به محلی بنام «جُلجُتا» که معنی آن «محل کاسۀ سر» است بردند.

²³They offered him wine mixed with myrrh to drink, but he didn’t take it.

²³به او شرابی دادند که آمیخته به دارویی به نام «مُر» بود، اما او آن را قبول نکرد.

²⁴Crucifying him, they parted his garments among them, casting lots on them, what each should take.

²⁴پس او را بر صلیب میخکوب کردند و لباس هایش را بین خود تقسیم نمودند و برای تعیین حصۀ هر یک قرعه انداختند.

²⁵It was the third hour, 9:00 A. M. and they crucified him.

²⁵ساعت نُه صبح بود که او را مصلوب کردند.

²⁶The superscription of his accusation was written over him, “THE KING OF THE JEWS.”

²⁶تقصیر نامه ای برایش به این مضمون نوشتند «پادشاه یهودیان.»

²⁷With him they crucified two robbers; one on his right hand, and one on his left.

²⁷دو نفر راهزن را نیز با او مصلوب کردند ـ یکی در طرف راست و دیگری را در سمت چپ او.[

²⁸The Scripture was fulfilled, which says, “He was numbered with transgressors.” NU omits verse 28.

²⁸بدین طریق آن کلامی که می گوید: از خطاکاران محسوب شد، تمام شد.]

²⁹Those who passed by blasphemed him, wagging their heads, and saying, “Ha! You who destroy the temple, and build it in three days,

²⁹کسانی که از آنجا می گذشتند سر های شان را تکان می دادند و با ریشخند به عیسی می گفتند: «ای کسی که می خواستی عبادتگاه را خراب کنی و در سه روز بسازی

³⁰save yourself, and come down from the cross!”

³⁰حالا از صلیب پایین بیا و خودت را نجات بده.»

³¹Likewise, also the chief priests mocking among themselves with the scribes said, “He saved others. He can’t save himself.

³¹همچنین سران کاهنان و علمای دین نیز او را مسخره می کردند و به یکدیگر می گفتند: «دیگران را نجات می داد اما نمی تواند خود را نجات دهد.

³²Let the Christ, the King of Israel, now come down from the cross, that we may see and believe him. TR omits “him” ” Those who were crucified with him insulted him.

³²حالا این مسیح و پادشاه اسرائیل، از صلیب پایین بیاید تا ما ببینیم و به او ایمان بیاوریم.» کسانی هم که با او مصلوب شده بودند، او را تحقیر می کردند.

³³When the sixth hour or, noon had come, there was darkness over the whole land until the ninth hour. 3:00 PM

³³در وقت ظهر، تاریکی تمام آن سرزمین را فرا گرفت و تا سه ساعت ادامه داشت.

³⁴At the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, “Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani?” which is, being interpreted, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” Psalm 22:1

³⁴در ساعت سه بعد از ظهر عیسی با صدای بلند گفت: «ایلی، ایلی لَما سَبَقتَنی.» یعنی «خدای من، خدای من، چرا مرا ترک کردی؟»

³⁵Some of those who stood by, when they heard it, said, “Behold, he is calling Elijah.”

³⁵بعضی از حاضران وقتی این را شنیدند گفتند: «ببینید، او الیاس را صدا می کند.»

³⁶One ran, and filling a sponge full of vinegar, put it on a reed, and gave it to him to drink, saying, “Let him be. Let’s see whether Elijah comes to take him down.”

³⁶یکی از آن ها دوید و اسفنجِ را از سرکه پُر کرد و روی نَی گذاشت و به او داد تا بنوشد و گفت: «بگذارید ببینم، آیا الیاس می آید او را پایین بیاورد؟»

³⁷Jesus cried out with a loud voice, and gave up the spirit.

³⁷عیسی فریاد بلندی کشید و جان داد.

³⁸The veil of the temple was torn in two from the top to the bottom.

³⁸پردۀ عبادتگاه از بالا تا پایین دو تکه شد.

³⁹When the centurion, who stood by opposite him, saw that he cried out like this and breathed his last, he said, “Truly this man was the Son of God!”

³⁹صاحب منصبی که در مقابل او ایستاده بود، وقتی چگونگی مرگ او را دید، گفت: «حقیقتاً این مرد پسر خدا بود.»

⁴⁰There were also women watching from afar, among whom were both Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James the less and of Joses, and Salome;

⁴⁰در آنجا عده ای زن هم بودند که از دور نگاه می کردند و در بین آن ها مریم مجدلیه و مریم مادر یعقوب کوچک و یوشا و سالومه دیده می شدند.

⁴¹who, when he was in Galilee, followed him, and served him; and many other women who came up with him to Jerusalem.

⁴¹این زنان وقتی عیسی در جلیل بود به او گرویدند و او را کمک می کردند. بسیاری از زنان دیگر نیز همراه او به اورشلیم آمده بودند.

⁴²When evening had now come, because it was the Preparation Day, that is, the day before the Sabbath,

⁴²غروب همان روز که روز تدارک یعنی پیش از روز سَبَت بود،

⁴³Joseph of Arimathaea, a prominent council member who also himself was looking for the Kingdom of God, came. He boldly went in to Pilate, and asked for Jesus’ body.

⁴³یوسف از اهل رامه که یکی از اعضای محترم شورای یهود و در انتظار ظهور پادشاهی خدا بود با کمال شهامت پیش پیلاطُس رفت و جسد عیسی را از او خواست.

⁴⁴Pilate marveled if he were already dead; and summoning the centurion, he asked him whether he had been dead long.

⁴⁴پیلاطُس باور نمی کرد که عیسی به این زودی مرده باشد. پس به دنبال صاحب منصبی که مأمور مصلوب کردن عیسی بود فرستاد و از او پرسید: «آیا او به همین زودی مرد؟»

⁴⁵When he found out from the centurion, he granted the body to Joseph.

⁴⁵وقتی پیلاطُس از جانب صاحب منصب اطمینان یافت، به یوسف اجازه داد که جنازه را ببرد.

⁴⁶He bought a linen cloth, and taking him down, wound him in the linen cloth, and laid him in a tomb which had been cut out of a rock. He rolled a stone against the door of the tomb.

⁴⁶یوسف، کتان لطیفی خرید و جنازۀ عیسی را پایین آورد و در آن پیچید و در مقبره ای که از سنگ تراشیده شده بود، قرار داد و سنگی در دهنۀ دروازۀ آن غلطانید.مریم مجدلیه و مریم مادر یوشا، دیدند که عیسی کجا گذاشته شد.

⁴⁷Mary Magdalene and Mary, the mother of Joses, saw where he was laid.
