¹Again he began to teach by the seaside. A great multitude was gathered to him, so that he entered into a boat in the sea, and sat down. All the multitude were on the land by the sea.

¹عیسی بازهم در کنار دریای جلیل به تعلیم مردم شروع کرد. جمعیت زیادی دور او جمع شدند، بطوری که مجبور شد به کشتی ای که در روی آب بود، سوار شود و در آن بنشیند. مردم در لب دریا ایستاده بودند

²He taught them many things in parables, and told them in his teaching,

²و او با مَثَل تعالیم زیادی به آن ها داد. در ضمن تعلیم به آن ها گفت:

³ “Listen! Behold, the farmer went out to sow,

³«گوش کنید: روزی دهقانی برای کاشتن تخم بیرون رفت.

⁴ and it happened, as he sowed, some seed fell by the road, and the birds TR adds “of the air” came and devoured it.

⁴وقتی مشغول پاشیدن تخم بود، مقداری از دانه ها در راه افتاد و پرندگان آمده آن ها را خوردند.

⁵ Others fell on the rocky ground, where it had little soil, and immediately it sprang up, because it had no depth of soil.

⁵بعضی از دانه ها روی سنگلاخ، جائی که خاک کم بود افتاد و چون زمین عمقی نداشت، زود سبز شد.

⁶ When the sun had risen, it was scorched; and because it had no root, it withered away.

⁶اما وقتی آفتاب بر آن ها درخشید، همه سوختند و چون ریشه ای نداشتند خشک شدند.

⁷ Others fell among the thorns, and the thorns grew up, and choked it, and it yielded no fruit.

⁷مقداری از دانه ها در میان خارها افتاد و خارها رشد کرده آن ها را خفه کردند و جوانه ها حاصلی نیاوردند.

⁸ Others fell into the good ground, and yielded fruit, growing up and increasing. Some brought forth thirty times, some sixty times, and some one hundred times as much.”

⁸و بعضی از دانه ها در داخل خاک خوب افتادند و سبز شده، رشد کردند و ثمر آوردند و حاصل آن ها سی برابر، شصت برابر و صد برابر بود.»

⁹He said, “Whoever has ears to hear, let him hear.”

⁹و بعد عیسی فرمود: «هرکه گوش شنوا دارد بشنود.»

¹⁰When he was alone, those who were around him with the twelve asked him about the parables.

¹⁰وقتی عیسی تنها بود، همراهانش با آن دوازده نفر دربارۀ مفهوم این مَثَل ها از او سؤال کردند.

¹¹He said to them, “To you is given the mystery of the Kingdom of God, but to those who are outside, all things are done in parables,

¹¹او جواب داد: «قدرت درک اسرار پادشاهی خدا به شما عطا شده است، اما برای دیگران همه چیز بصورت مَثَل بیان می شود

¹² that ‘seeing they may see, and not perceive; and hearing they may hear, and not understand; lest perhaps they should turn again, and their sins should be forgiven them.’” Isaiah 6:9-10

¹²تا «دائماً نگاه کنند و چیزی نبینند، پیوسته بشنوند و چیزی نفهمند، مبادا بسوی خدا برگردند و آمرزیده شوند.»»

¹³He said to them, “Don’t you understand this parable? How will you understand all of the parables?

¹³سپس عیسی به آن ها گفت: «شما این مَثَل را نمی فهمید؟ پس چگونه دیگر مَثَل ها را خواهید فهمید؟

¹⁴ The farmer sows the word.

¹⁴دهقان کلام خدا را پخش می کند،

¹⁵ The ones by the road are the ones where the word is sown; and when they have heard, immediately Satan comes, and takes away the word which has been sown in them.

¹⁵دانه هائی که در کنار راه می افتند کسانی هستند که به محض اینکه کلام خدا را می شنوند، شیطان می آید و کلامی را که در دلهای شان کاشته شده است، می رباید.

¹⁶ These in the same way are those who are sown on the rocky places, who, when they have heard the word, immediately receive it with joy.

¹⁶دانه هائی که در زمین سنگلاخ می افتد، مانند کسانی هستند که به محض شنیدن کلام خدا با خوشحالی آن را قبول می کنند.

¹⁷ They have no root in themselves, but are short-lived. When oppression or persecution arises because of the word, immediately they stumble.

¹⁷اما کلام در آن ها ریشه نمی گیرد و دوامی ندارد و وقتی بخاطر کلام، زحمت و یا گرفتاری برای آن ها پیش می آید، فوراً دلسرد می شوند.

¹⁸ Others are those who are sown among the thorns. These are those who have heard the word,

¹⁸دانه هایی که در میان خارها می افتند، مانند کسانی هستند که کلام را می شنوند،

¹⁹ and the cares of this age, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of other things entering in choke the word, and it becomes unfruitful.

¹⁹اما تشویش زندگی و عشق به مال دنیا و هوی و هوس و چیزهای دیگر داخل می شوند و کلام را خفه می کنند و آن را بی ثمر می سازند

²⁰ Those which were sown on the good ground are those who hear the word, and accept it, and bear fruit, some thirty times, some sixty times, and some one hundred times.”

²⁰و دانه هایی که در خاک خوب می افتند به کسانی می مانند که کلام را می شنوند و از آن استقبال می کنند و سی برابر و شصت برابر و صد برابر ثمر می آورند.»

²¹He said to them, “Is the lamp brought to be put under a basket literally, a modion, a dry measuring basket containing about a peck (about 9 litres) or under a bed? Isn’t it put on a stand?

²¹عیسی به آن ها فرمود: «آیا کسی چراغ را می آورد تا آن را زیر تشت یا تخت بگذارد؟ البته نه، آن را می آورد تا روی چراغ پایه ای بگذارد.

²² For there is nothing hidden, except that it should be made known; neither was anything made secret, but that it should come to light.

²²هیچ چیز پنهانی نیست که آشکار نگردد و هیچ چیز پوشیده ای نیست که پرده از رویش برداشته نشود.

²³ If any man has ears to hear, let him hear.”

²³اگر گوش شنوا دارید بشنوید.»

²⁴He said to them, “Take heed what you hear. With whatever measure you measure, it will be measured to you, and more will be given to you who hear.

²⁴باز به آن ها فرمود: «در آنچه که می شنوید دقت کنید. با هر پیمانه ای که بدهید با همان پیمانه هم می گیرید و حتی زیادتر از آن به شما داده می شود.

²⁵ For whoever has, to him will more be given, and he who doesn’t have, even that which he has will be taken away from him.”

²⁵هر که دارد به او بیشتر داده خواهد شد و آن که ندارد آنچه را هم دارد از دست خواهد داد.»

²⁶He said, “The Kingdom of God is as if a man should cast seed on the earth,

²⁶عیسی فرمود: «پادشاهی خدا مانند مردی است، که در مزرعۀ خود تخم می پاشد.

²⁷ and should sleep and rise night and day, and the seed should spring up and grow, he doesn’t know how.

²⁷دانه سبز می شود و رشد می کند اما چطور؟ او نمی داند. شب و روز، چه او در خواب باشد و چه بیدار،

²⁸ For the earth bears fruit: first the blade, then the ear, then the full grain in the ear.

²⁸زمین به خودی خود موجب می شود که گیاه بروید و ثمر بیآورد، اول جوانه، بعد خوشه و بعد دانۀ رسیده در داخل خوشه.

²⁹ But when the fruit is ripe, immediately he puts forth the sickle, because the harvest has come.”

²⁹اما وقتی که محصول می رسد، او با داس خود به کار مشغول می شود، چون موسم درو رسیده است.»

³⁰He said, “How will we liken the Kingdom of God? Or with what parable will we illustrate it?

³⁰عیسی فرمود: «پادشاهی خدا را به چه چیز تشبیه کنم و یا با چه مَثَلی آن را شرح بدهم؟

³¹ It’s like a grain of mustard seed, which, when it is sown in the earth, though it is less than all the seeds that are on the earth,

³¹مانند دانۀ اَوری ای است که در زمین کاشته می شود. اَوری کوچکترین دانه های روی زمین است،

³² yet when it is sown, grows up, and becomes greater than all the herbs, and puts out great branches, so that the birds of the sky can lodge under its shadow.”

³²اما وقتی که کاشته شود، رشد می کند و از هر بوتۀ دیگری بلندتر می گردد و شاخه های آن آنقدر بزرگ می شود که پرندگان می توانند در سایۀ آن لانه بسازند.»

³³With many such parables he spoke the word to them, as they were able to hear it.

³³عیسی با مَثَل های زیادی از این قبیل، پیام خود را تا آنجا که آن ها قادر به فهم آن بودند، برای مردم بیان می کرد

³⁴Without a parable he didn’t speak to them; but privately to his own disciples he explained everything.

³⁴و برای آن ها بدون مَثَل چیزی نمی گفت، اما وقتی تنها بودند، همه چیز را برای شاگردان خود شرح می داد.

³⁵On that day, when evening had come, he said to them, “Let’s go over to the other side.”

³⁵عصر همان روز عیسی به شاگردان فرمود: «به آن طرف بحیره برویم.»

³⁶Leaving the multitude, they took him with them, even as he was, in the boat. Other small boats were also with him.

³⁶پس آن ها جمعیت را ترک کردند و او را با همان کشتی ای که در آن نشسته بود، بردند و کشتی های دیگری هم همراه آن ها بود.

³⁷A big wind storm arose, and the waves beat into the boat, so much that the boat was already filled.

³⁷طوفان شدیدی برخاست و امواج به کشتی می زد بطوری که نزدیک بود کشتی از آب پُر شود.

³⁸He himself was in the stern, asleep on the cushion, and they woke him up, and told him, “Teacher, don’t you care that we are dying?”

³⁸در این موقع عیسی در عقب کشتی سر خود را روی بالشی گذارده و خوابیده بود، او را بیدار کردند و به او گفتند: «ای استاد، مگر در فکر ما نیستی؟ نزدیک است غرق شویم!»

³⁹He awoke, and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Peace! Be still!” The wind ceased, and there was a great calm.

³⁹او برخاست و با تندی به باد فرمان داد و به بحیره گفت: «خاموش و آرام شو.» باد ایستاد و آرامش کامل برقرار شد.

⁴⁰He said to them, “Why are you so afraid? How is it that you have no faith?”

⁴⁰بعد عیسی به ایشان فرمود: «چرا اینقدر ترسیده اید؟ آیا هنوز ایمان ندارید؟»آن ها با ترس و لرز به یکدیگر می گفتند: «این کیست که حتی باد و بحیره هم از او اطاعت می کنند؟»

⁴¹They were greatly afraid, and said to one another, “Who then is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?”

⁴¹آن ها با ترس و لرز به یکدیگر می گفتند: «این کیست که حتی باد و بحیره هم از او اطاعت می کنند؟»
