¹He went out from there. He came into his own country, and his disciples followed him.

¹عیسی آنجا را ترک کرد و به شهر خود آمد، شاگردانش نیز بدنبال او آمدند.

²When the Sabbath had come, he began to teach in the synagogue, and many hearing him were astonished, saying, “Where did this man get these things?” and, “What is the wisdom that is given to this man, that such mighty works come about by his hands?

²در روز سَبَت عیسی در کنیسه شروع به تعلیم دادن کرد. جمعیت زیادی که صحبت های او را شنیدند با تعجب می گفتند: «این چیزها را از کجا یاد گرفته است؟ این چه حکمتی است که به او داده شده، که می تواند چنین معجزاتی را انجام دهد؟

³Isn’t this the carpenter, the son of Mary, and brother of James, Joses, Judah, and Simon? Aren’t his sisters here with us?” They were offended at him.

³این مگر آن نجار، پسر مریم و برادر یعقوب و یوسف و یهودا و شمعون نیست؟ مگر خواهران او در بین ما نیستند؟» به این سبب آن ها از او روی گردان شدند.

⁴Jesus said to them, “A prophet is not without honor, except in his own country, and among his own relatives, and in his own house.”

⁴عیسی به آن ها فرمود: «یک نبی در همه جا مورد احترام است، جز در وطن خود و در میان خانوادۀ خویش.»

⁵He could do no mighty work there, except that he laid his hands on a few sick people, and healed them.

⁵او نتوانست در آنجا هیچ معجزه ای انجام دهد. فقط دست خود را روی چند بیمار گذاشت و آن ها را شفا داد

⁶He marveled because of their unbelief. He went around the villages teaching.

⁶و از بی ایمانی آن ها در حیرت بود. عیسی برای تعلیم مردم به تمام دهکده های آن اطراف رفت.

⁷He called to himself the twelve, and began to send them out two by two; and he gave them authority over the unclean spirits.

⁷بعد دوازده شاگرد خود را فراخواند و آن ها را دو دو نفر فرستاد و به آن ها قدرت داد تا بر ارواح ناپاک پیروز شوند.

⁸He commanded them that they should take nothing for their journey, except a staff only: no bread, no wallet, no money in their purse,

⁸همچنین به آن ها امر کرده گفت: «برای سفر به جز یک عصا چیزی برندارید ـ نه نان و نه خورجین و نه پول در کمربندهای خود ـ

⁹but to wear sandals, and not put on two tunics.

⁹فقط چپلی به پا کنید و بیش از یک پیراهن نپوشید.»

¹⁰He said to them, “Wherever you enter into a house, stay there until you depart from there.

¹⁰عیسی همچنین به آن ها گفت: «هرگاه شما را در خانه ای قبول کنند تا وقتی که در آن شهر هستید در آنجا بمانید

¹¹ Whoever will not receive you nor hear you, as you depart from there, shake off the dust that is under your feet for a testimony against them. Assuredly, I tell you, it will be more tolerable for Sodom and Gomorrah in the day of judgment than for that city!”

¹¹و هرجا که شما را قبول نکنند و یا به شما گوش ندهند، از آنجا بروید و گرد پاهای خود را هم برای عبرت آن ها بتکانید.»

¹²They went out and preached that people should repent.

¹²پس آن ها براه افتادند و در همه جا اعلام می کردند که مردم باید توبه کنند.

¹³They cast out many demons, and anointed many with oil who were sick, and healed them.

¹³آن ها ارواح ناپاک زیادی را بیرون کردند و بیماران بسیاری را با روغن مسح کرده شفا دادند.

¹⁴King Herod heard this, for his name had become known, and he said, “John the Baptizer has risen from the dead, and therefore these powers are at work in him.”

¹⁴هیرودیس پادشاه از این جریان باخبر شد، چون شهرت عیسی در همه جا پیچیده بود. بعضی می گفتند: «یحیای تعمید دهنده زنده شده است و به همین جهت معجزات بزرگی از او دیده می شود.»

¹⁵But others said, “He is Elijah.” Others said, “He is a prophet, or like one of the prophets.”

¹⁵دیگران می گفتند: «او الیاس است.» عده ای هم می گفتند: «او پیامبری مانند سایر پیغمبران است.»

¹⁶But Herod, when he heard this, said, “This is John, whom I beheaded. He has risen from the dead.”

¹⁶اما وقتی هیرودیس این را شنید گفت: «این همان یحیی است که من سرش را از تن جدا کردم، او زنده شده است.»

¹⁷For Herod himself had sent out and arrested John, and bound him in prison for the sake of Herodias, his brother Philip’s wife, for he had married her.

¹⁷هیرودیس به درخواست زن خود هیرودیا امر کرد یحیای تعمید دهنده را دستگیر کنند و او را در بند نهاده به زندان بیندازند. هیرودیا قبلاً زن فیلیپُس برادر هیرودیس بود.

¹⁸For John said to Herod, “It is not lawful for you to have your brother’s wife.”

¹⁸یحیی به هیرودیس گفته بود: «تو نباید با زن برادر خود ازدواج کنی.»

¹⁹Herodias set herself against him, and desired to kill him, but she couldn’t,

¹⁹هیرودیا این کینه را در دل داشت و می خواست او را به قتل برساند اما نمی توانست.

²⁰for Herod feared John, knowing that he was a righteous and holy man, and kept him safe. When he heard him, he did many things, and he heard him gladly.

²⁰هیرودیس از یحیی می ترسید؛ زیرا می دانست او مرد راستکار و مقدسی است و به این سبب او را بسیار احترام می کرد و دوست داشت به سخنان او گوش دهد. هرچند هروقت سخنان او را می شنید ناراحت می شد.

²¹Then a convenient day came, that Herod on his birthday made a supper for his nobles, the high officers, and the chief men of Galilee.

²¹بالاخره هیرودیا فرصت مناسبی به دست آورد. هیرودیس در روز تولد خود دعوتی ترتیب داد و وقتی تمام بزرگان و امرا و اشراف جلیل حضور داشتند،

²²When the daughter of Herodias herself came in and danced, she pleased Herod and those sitting with him. The king said to the young lady, “Ask me whatever you want, and I will give it to you.”

²²دختر هیرودیا وارد مجلس شد و رقصید. هیرودیس و مهمانانش از رقص او بسیار لذت بردند به طوری که پادشاه به دختر گفت: «هرچه بخواهی به تو خواهم داد.»

²³He swore to her, “Whatever you shall ask of me, I will give you, up to half of my kingdom.”

²³و برایش سوگند یاد کرده گفت: «هرچه از من بخواهی حتی نصف مملکتم را به تو خواهم داد.»

²⁴She went out, and said to her mother, “What shall I ask?” She said, “The head of John the Baptizer.”

²⁴دختر بیرون رفت و به مادر خود گفت: «چه بخواهم؟» مادرش جواب داد: «سر یحیای تعمید دهنده را.»

²⁵She came in immediately with haste to the king, and asked, “I want you to give me right now the head of John the Baptizer on a platter.”

²⁵دختر فوراً پیش پادشاه برگشت و گفت: «از تو می خواهم که در همین ساعت سر یحیای تعمید دهنده را در داخل یک پطنوس به من بدهی.»

²⁶The king was exceedingly sorry, but for the sake of his oaths, and of his dinner guests, he didn’t wish to refuse her.

²⁶پادشاه بسیار متأسف شد، اما بخاطر سوگند خود و به احترام مهمانانش صلاح ندانست که خواهش او را رد کند.

²⁷Immediately the king sent out a soldier of his guard, and commanded to bring John’s head, and he went and beheaded him in the prison,

²⁷پس فوراً جلاد را فرستاد و امر کرد که سر یحیی را بیاورد. جلاد رفت و در زندان سر او را برید

²⁸and brought his head on a platter, and gave it to the young lady; and the young lady gave it to her mother.

²⁸و آن را در داخل یک پطنوس آورد و به دختر داد و دختر آن را به مادر خود داد.

²⁹When his disciples heard this, they came and took up his corpse, and laid it in a tomb.

²⁹وقتی این خبر به شاگردان یحیی رسید آن ها آمدند و جنازۀ او را برداشتند و در مقبره ای دفن کردند.

³⁰The apostles gathered themselves together to Jesus, and they told him all things, whatever they had done, and whatever they had taught.

³⁰رسولان پیش عیسی برگشتند و گزارش همه کارها و تعلیمات خود را به عرض او رسانیدند.

³¹He said to them, “You come apart into a deserted place, and rest awhile.” For there were many coming and going, and they had no leisure so much as to eat.

³¹و چون آمد و رفت مردم آنقدر زیاد بود که آن ها حتی فرصت غذا خوردن هم نداشتند، عیسی به ایشان فرمود: «خود تان تنها بیایید که بجای خلوتی برویم تا کمی استراحت کنید.»

³²They went away in the boat to a deserted place by themselves.

³²پس آن ها به تنهایی با کشتی بطرف جای خلوتی رفتند،

³³ They TR reads “The multitudes” instead of “They” saw them going, and many recognized him and ran there on foot from all the cities. They arrived before them and came together to him.

³³اما عدۀ زیادی آن ها را دیدند که آنجا را ترک می کردند. مردم آن ها را شناختند و از تمام شهرها از راه خشکی به طرف آن محل دویدند و پیش از آن ها به آنجا رسیدند.

³⁴Jesus came out, saw a great multitude, and he had compassion on them, because they were like sheep without a shepherd, and he began to teach them many things.

³⁴وقتی عیسی به خشکی رسید، جمعیت زیادی را دید و دلش برای آن ها سوخت چون مثل گوسفندان بی چوپان بودند. پس به تعلیم آنها شروع کرد و مطالب زیادی بیان کرد.

³⁵When it was late in the day, his disciples came to him, and said, “This place is deserted, and it is late in the day.

³⁵چون نزدیک غروب بود شاگردانش نزد او آمده گفتند: «اینجا بیابان است و روز هم به پایان رسیده است.

³⁶Send them away, that they may go into the surrounding country and villages, and buy themselves bread, for they have nothing to eat.”

³⁶مردم را رخصت بده تا به مزرعه ها و دهکده های اطراف بروند و برای خود شان خوراک بخرند.»

³⁷But he answered them, “You give them something to eat.” They asked him, “Shall we go and buy two hundred denarii 200 denarii was about 7 or 8 months wages for an agricultural laborer. worth of bread, and give them something to eat?”

³⁷اما او جواب داد: «خود تان به آن ها خوراک بدهید.» آن ها گفتند: «آیا می خواهی برویم و تقریباً دوصد دینار نان بخریم تا غذایی به آن ها بدهیم؟»

³⁸He said to them, “How many loaves do you have? Go see.” When they knew, they said, “Five, and two fish.”

³⁸عیسی از آن ها پرسید: «چند نان دارید؟ بروید ببینید.» شاگردان تحقیق کردند و گفتند: «پنج نان و دو ماهی.»

³⁹He commanded them that everyone should sit down in groups on the green grass.

³⁹عیسی امر کرد که شاگردانش مردم را دسته دسته روی علف ها بنشانند.

⁴⁰They sat down in ranks, by hundreds and by fifties.

⁴⁰مردم در دسته های صد نفری و پنجاه نفری روی زمین نشستند.

⁴¹He took the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up to heaven, he blessed and broke the loaves, and he gave to his disciples to set before them, and he divided the two fish among them all.

⁴¹بعد عیسی پنج نان و دو ماهی را گرفت، چشم به آسمان دوخت و خدا را شکر نموده نانها را پاره کرد و به شاگردان داد تا بین مردم تقسیم کنند. او همچنین آن دو ماهی را میان آن ها تقسیم کرد.

⁴²They all ate, and were filled.

⁴²همه خوردند و سیر شدند

⁴³They took up twelve baskets full of broken pieces and also of the fish.

⁴³و شاگردان دوازده سبد پُر از باقی ماندۀ نان و ماهی جمع کردند.

⁴⁴Those who ate the loaves were TR adds “about” five thousand men.

⁴⁴در میان کسانی که از نانها خوردند پنج هزار مرد بودند.

⁴⁵Immediately he made his disciples get into the boat, and to go ahead to the other side, to Bethsaida, while he himself sent the multitude away.

⁴⁵بعد از این کار، عیسی فوراً شاگردان خود را سوار کشتی کرد تا پیش از او به بیتسَیدا در آن طرف بحیره بروند تا خودش مردم را رخصت بدهد.

⁴⁶After he had taken leave of them, he went up the mountain to pray.

⁴⁶پس از آنکه عیسی با مردم خداحافظی کرد، برای دعا به بالای کوهی رفت.

⁴⁷When evening had come, the boat was in the midst of the sea, and he was alone on the land.

⁴⁷وقتی شب شد، کشتی به وسط بحیره رسید و عیسی در ساحل تنها بود.

⁴⁸Seeing them distressed in rowing, for the wind was contrary to them, about the fourth watch of the night he came to them, walking on the sea, see Job 9:8 and he would have passed by them,

⁴⁸بین ساعت سه و شش صبح بود که دید شاگردانش گرفتار باد مخالف شده و با زحمت زیاد پارو می زنند. پس قدم زنان در روی آب بطرف آن ها رفت و می خواست از کنار آن ها تیر شود.

⁴⁹but they, when they saw him walking on the sea, supposed that it was a ghost, and cried out;

⁴⁹وقتی شاگردان او را دیدند که روی آب راه می رود خیال کردند که یک سایه است و فریاد می زدند،

⁵⁰for they all saw him, and were troubled. But he immediately spoke with them, and said to them, “Cheer up! It is I! or, “I AM!” Don’t be afraid.”

⁵⁰چون همه او را دیده و ترسیده بودند. اما عیسی فورأ صحبت کرده فرمود: «جرأت داشته باشید، من هستم، نترسید.»

⁵¹He got into the boat with them; and the wind ceased, and they were very amazed among themselves, and marveled;

⁵¹بعد سوار کشتی شد و باد ایستاد و آن ها بی اندازه تعجب کردند.

⁵²for they hadn’t understood about the loaves, but their hearts were hardened.

⁵²ذهن آن ها کند شده بود و از موضوع نانها هم چیزی نفهمیده بودند.

⁵³When they had crossed over, they came to land at Gennesaret, and moored to the shore.

⁵³آن ها از بحیره گذشتند و به سرزمین جنیسارت رسیده و در آنجا توقف کردند.

⁵⁴When they had come out of the boat, immediately the people recognized him,

⁵⁴وقتی از کشتی بیرون آمدند، مردم فوراً عیسی را شناختند

⁵⁵and ran around that whole region, and began to bring those who were sick, on their mats, to where they heard he was.

⁵⁵و با عجله به تمام آن حدود رفتند و مریضان را بر روی بستر های شان به جایی که می شنیدند عیسی بود بردند.به هر شهر و ده و مزرعه ای که عیسی می رفت، مردم بیماران خود را به آنجا می بردند و در سر راه او می گذاشتند و از او التماس می کردند که به بیماران اجازه دهد، دامن لباس او را لمس کنند و هرکس که لمس می کرد شفا می یافت.

⁵⁶Wherever he entered, into villages, or into cities, or into the country, they laid the sick in the marketplaces, and begged him that they might touch just the fringe or, tassel of his garment; and as many as touched him were made well.

⁵⁶به هر شهر و ده و مزرعه ای که عیسی می رفت، مردم بیماران خود را به آنجا می بردند و در سر راه او می گذاشتند و از او التماس می کردند که به بیماران اجازه دهد، دامن لباس او را لمس کنند و هرکس که لمس می کرد شفا می یافت.
