¹At that time, Herod the tetrarch heard the report concerning Jesus,

¹در این وقت اخبار مربوط به عیسی به اطلاع هیرودیس پادشاه رسید.

²and said to his servants, “This is John the Baptizer. He is risen from the dead. That is why these powers work in him.”

²او به ملازمان خود گفت: «این مرد همان یحیای تعمید دهنده است که پس از مرگ زنده شده است و به همین جهت معجزات بزرگی از او به ظهور می رسد.»

³For Herod had laid hold of John, and bound him, and put him in prison for the sake of Herodias, his brother Philip’s wife.

³زیرا هیرودیس بخاطر هیرودیا که زن برادرش فیلیپُس بود، یحیی را گرفته و دست و پای او را در بند نهاده و به زندان انداخته بود.

⁴For John said to him, “It is not lawful for you to have her.”

⁴چون یحیی به هیرودیس گفته بود: «تو حق نداری که با این زن ازدواج کنی.»

⁵When he would have put him to death, he feared the multitude, because they counted him as a prophet.

⁵هیرودیس می خواست او را بکشد اما از مردم می ترسید، زیرا در نظر مردم یحیی یک نبی بود.

⁶But when Herod’s birthday came, the daughter of Herodias danced among them and pleased Herod.

⁶ولی در موقع جشن تولد هیرودیس، دختر هیرودیا در برابر مهمانان رقصید و هیرودیس آنقدر از رقص او خوشحال شد،

⁷Whereupon he promised with an oath to give her whatever she should ask.

⁷که قسم خورد هرچه بخواهد به او بدهد.

⁸She, being prompted by her mother, said, “Give me here on a platter the head of John the Baptizer.”

⁸او با راهنمائی مادر خود گفت: «سر یحیای تعمید دهنده را همین حالا در داخل یک پطنوس به من بده.»

⁹The king was grieved, but for the sake of his oaths, and of those who sat at the table with him, he commanded it to be given,

⁹پادشاه از شنیدن این سخن سخت ناراحت شد، ولی به پاس سوگند خود و بخاطر مهمانان خود امر کرد که سر یحیی را به او بدهند.

¹⁰and he sent and beheaded John in the prison.

¹⁰او کسانی را به زندان فرستاده سر یحیی را از تن جدا کرد

¹¹His head was brought on a platter, and given to the young lady: and she brought it to her mother.

¹¹و سر او را که در داخل یک پطنوس بود، آورده به دختر دادند و او آن را نزد مادر خود برد.

¹²His disciples came, and took the body, and buried it; and they went and told Jesus.

¹²سپس شاگردان یحیی آمده بدن او را بردند و به خاک سپردند. پس از آن آن ها به نزد عیسی رفتند و به او خبر دادند.

¹³Now when Jesus heard this, he withdrew from there in a boat, to a deserted place apart. When the multitudes heard it, they followed him on foot from the cities.

¹³عیسی وقتی این خبر را شنید، آنجا را ترک کرد و با کشتی به جای خلوتی رفت. اما مردم باخبر شده دسته دسته از شهرهای خود از راه خشکی بدنبال او رفتند.

¹⁴Jesus went out, and he saw a great multitude. He had compassion on them, and healed their sick.

¹⁴همین که عیسی به لب بحیره رسید، جمعیت زیادی را دید و دلش به حال آن ها سوخت و مریضان آنها را شفا داد.

¹⁵When evening had come, his disciples came to him, saying, “This place is deserted, and the hour is already late. Send the multitudes away, that they may go into the villages, and buy themselves food.”

¹⁵عصر همان روز شاگردانش نزد او آمده گفتند: «اینجا بیابان است و روز هم به آخر رسیده، مردم را به دهات بفرست تا برای خود غذا بخرند.»

¹⁶But Jesus said to them, “They don’t need to go away. You give them something to eat.”

¹⁶عیسی به ایشان گفت: «لازم نیست مردم بروند، خود شما به آنها خوراک بدهید.»

¹⁷They told him, “We only have here five loaves and two fish.”

¹⁷شاگردان گفتند: «ما فقط پنج نان و دو ماهی داریم.»

¹⁸He said, “Bring them here to me.”

¹⁸عیسی در جواب فرمود: «آن ها را پیش من بیاورید.»

¹⁹He commanded the multitudes to sit down on the grass; and he took the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up to heaven, he blessed, broke and gave the loaves to the disciples, and the disciples gave to the multitudes.

¹⁹و پس از آن به مردم امر کرد که روی سبزه ها بنشینند. آنگاه پنج نان و دو ماهی را گرفته چشم به آسمان دوخت و خدا را شکر نموده نانها را پاره کرد و به شاگردان داد و شاگردان آن ها را به مردم دادند.

²⁰They all ate, and were filled. They took up twelve baskets full of that which remained left over from the broken pieces.

²⁰همه خوردند و سیر شدند و از خُرده های باقیمانده که شاگردان جمع کردند دوازده سبد کلان پُر شد.

²¹Those who ate were about five thousand men, besides women and children.

²¹غیر از زنان و کودکان پنج هزار مرد خوراک خوردند.

²²Immediately Jesus made the disciples get into the boat, and to go ahead of him to the other side, while he sent the multitudes away.

²²آنگاه عیسی شاگردان خود را مکلف ساخت که سوار کشتی شده پیش از او به طرف دیگر بحیره بروند تا خودش مردم را رخصت بدهد.

²³After he had sent the multitudes away, he went up into the mountain by himself to pray. When evening had come, he was there alone.

²³پس از انجام این کار عیسی به بالای کوهی رفت تا به تنهایی دعا کند. وقتی شب شد او در آنجا تنها بود.

²⁴But the boat was now in the middle of the sea, distressed by the waves, for the wind was contrary.

²⁴در این موقع کشتی در بین بحیره به علت باد مخالف، گرفتار امواج شده بود.

²⁵In the fourth watch of the night, The night was equally divided into four watches, so the fourth watch is approximately 3:00 A. M. to sunrise. Jesus came to them, walking on the sea. see Job 9:8

²⁵بین ساعت سه و شش صبح عیسی در حالی که بر روی بحیره قدم می زد نزد آن ها آمد.

²⁶When the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, “It’s a ghost!” and they cried out for fear.

²⁶وقتی شاگردان عیسی را دیدند که بر روی آب بحیره راه می رود آنقدر ترسیدند که با وحشت فریاد زده گفتند: «این یک سایه است.»

²⁷But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying “Cheer up! It is I! or, I AM! Don’t be afraid.”

²⁷عیسی فوراً به ایشان گفت: «خاطر جمع باشید، من هستم، نترسید.»

²⁸Peter answered him and said, “Lord, if it is you, command me to come to you on the waters.”

²⁸پِترُس گفت: «ای خداوند اگر تو هستی به من امر کن تا من هم بر روی آب نزد تو بیایم.»

²⁹He said, “Come!” Peter stepped down from the boat, and walked on the waters to come to Jesus.

²⁹عیسی فرمود: «بیا.» پِترُس از کشتی پائین آمد و بر روی آب به طرف عیسی رفت.

³⁰But when he saw that the wind was strong, he was afraid, and beginning to sink, he cried out, saying, “Lord, save me!”

³⁰اما وقتی شدت طوفان را دید، به ترس افتاد و در حالی که در آب غرق می شد فریاد زد: «خداوندا، نجاتم بده.»

³¹Immediately Jesus stretched out his hand, took hold of him, and said to him, “You of little faith, why did you doubt?”

³¹عیسی فوراً رسید و دست او را گرفته گفت: «ای کم ایمان، چرا شک کردی؟»

³²When they got up into the boat, the wind ceased.

³²آن ها سوار کشتی شدند و باد قطع شد

³³Those who were in the boat came and worshiped him, saying, “You are truly the Son of God!”

³³و کسانی که در کشتی بودند به پای او افتاده می گفتند: «تو واقعاً پسر خدا هستی.»

³⁴When they had crossed over, they came to the land of Gennesaret.

³⁴آن ها از بحیره گذشته به سرزمین جنیسارت رسیدند.

³⁵When the people of that place recognized him, they sent into all that surrounding region, and brought to him all who were sick,

³⁵وقتی که مردم آن محل عیسی را شناختند کسانی را به تمام آن ناحیه فرستاده همه بیماران را نزد او آوردند.آن ها از او تقاضا کردند که اجازه دهد مریضان آن ها فقط دامن لباس او را لمس نمایند و هرکه آن را لمس می کرد، کاملاً شفا می یافت.

³⁶and they begged him that they might just touch the fringe or, tassel of his garment. As many as touched it were made whole.

³⁶آن ها از او تقاضا کردند که اجازه دهد مریضان آن ها فقط دامن لباس او را لمس نمایند و هرکه آن را لمس می کرد، کاملاً شفا می یافت.
