¹Then Pharisees and scribes came to Jesus from Jerusalem, saying,

¹در این وقت گروهی از فریسی ها و علمای دین یهود از اورشلیم پیش عیسی آمده از او پرسیدند:

²“Why do your disciples disobey the tradition of the elders? For they don’t wash their hands when they eat bread.”

²«چرا شاگردان تو آداب و رسومی را که از پدران ما به ما رسیده است، نادیده می گیرند و پیش از خوردن غذا دست های خود را نمی شویند؟»

³He answered them, “Why do you also disobey the commandment of God because of your tradition?

³عیسی به آنها جواب داد: «چرا خود شما برای اینکه آداب و رسوم گذشته خود را حفظ کنید، حکم خدا را می شکنید؟

⁴ For God commanded, ‘Honor your father and your mother,’ Exodus 20:12; Deuteronomy 5:16 and, ‘He who speaks evil of father or mother, let him be put to death.’ Exodus 21:17; Leviticus 20:9

⁴مثلاً خدا فرمود: «پدر و مادر خود را احترام کن، و هرکس به پدر یا مادر خود ناسزا گوید، باید کشته شود»،

⁵ But you say, ‘Whoever may tell his father or his mother, “Whatever help you might otherwise have gotten from me is a gift devoted to God,”

⁵اما شما می گویید: «اگر کسی به پدر و مادر خود بگوید که هر حقی به گردن من داشتید از این به بعد وقف خدا است،

⁶ he shall not honor his father or mother.’ You have made the commandment of God void because of your tradition.

⁶دیگر او مجبور نیست به این وسیله به آن ها احترام بگذارد.» شما اینطور کلام خدا را به خاطر آداب و رسوم خود نادیده گرفته اید.

⁷ You hypocrites! Well did Isaiah prophesy of you, saying,

⁷ای منافقان! اشعیا دربارۀ شما درست پیشگویی کرد وقتی گفت:

⁸ ‘These people draw near to me with their mouth, and honor me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.

⁸«این قوم با زبان خود، به من احترام می گذارند، اما دل های شان از من دور است.

⁹ And in vain do they worship me, teaching as doctrine rules made by men.’” Isaiah 29:13

⁹عبادت آن ها بی فایده است، زیرا اوامر انسانی را به جای احکام خدا تعلیم می دهند.»»

¹⁰He summoned the multitude, and said to them, “Hear, and understand.

¹⁰آنگاه عیسی مردم را پیش خود خواسته به ایشان گفت: «به من گوش دهید و این را بدانید

¹¹ That which enters into the mouth doesn’t defile the man; but that which proceeds out of the mouth, this defiles the man.”

¹¹که انسان بوسیله آنچه می خورد و می نوشد نجس نمی شود، بلکه آن چیزی که از دهن او بیرون می آید، او را نجس می سازد.»

¹²Then the disciples came, and said to him, “Do you know that the Pharisees were offended, when they heard this saying?”

¹²در این وقت شاگردان پیش او آمده گفتند: «آیا می دانی فریسی ها از آنچه گفته ای ناراحت شده اند؟»

¹³But he answered, “Every plant which my heavenly Father didn’t plant will be uprooted.

¹³عیسی جواب داد: «هر نهالی که پدر آسمانی من بر زمین نکاشته باشد، از ریشه کنده خواهد شد.

¹⁴ Leave them alone. They are blind guides of the blind. If the blind guide the blind, both will fall into a pit.”

¹⁴آن ها را به حال خود شان بگذارید، آن ها کورانی هستند که راهنمای کوران دیگر می باشند و هرگاه کوری راهنمای کور دیگری باشد، هر دو به چاه خواهند افتاد.»

¹⁵Peter answered him, “Explain the parable to us.”

¹⁵آنگاه پِترُس به عیسی گفت: «معنی این مَثَل را برای ما بگو.»

¹⁶So Jesus said, “Do you also still not understand?

¹⁶عیسی در جواب فرمود: «پس شما هنوز هم این چیز ها را درک نمی کنید؟

¹⁷ Don’t you understand that whatever goes into the mouth passes into the belly, and then out of the body?

¹⁷آیا نمی فهمید که هرچه از راه دهن وارد بدن شود به معده می رود و پس از آن به مبرز ریخته می شود؟

¹⁸ But the things which proceed out of the mouth come out of the heart, and they defile the man.

¹⁸اما چیزهایی که از دهن بیرون می آید از دل سرچشمه می گیرد و آن ها است که آدمی را نجس می سازد،

¹⁹ For out of the heart come forth evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, sexual sins, thefts, false testimony, and blasphemies.

¹⁹زیرا افکار پلید، قتل، زنا، فسق، دزدی، شهادت دروغ و تهمت از دل سرچشمه می گیرند

²⁰ These are the things which defile the man; but to eat with unwashed hands doesn’t defile the man.”

²⁰و اینها است، چیزهایی که آدمی را نجس می سازند نه نشستن دست ها پیش از غذا.»

²¹Jesus went out from there, and withdrew into the region of Tyre and Sidon.

²¹آنگاه عیسی آن محل را ترک کرده به نواحی صور و صیدون رفت.

²²Behold, a Canaanite woman came out from those borders, and cried, saying, “Have mercy on me, Lord, you son of David! My daughter is severely demonized!”

²²یک زن کنعانی که اهل آنجا بود، پیش عیسی آمد و با صدای بلند گفت: «ای آقا، ای پسر داود، به من رحم کن، دخترم سخت گرفتار روح ناپاک شده است.»

²³But he answered her not a word. His disciples came and begged him, saying, “Send her away; for she cries after us.”

²³اما عیسی هیچ جوابی به او نداد تا اینکه شاگردان پیش آمدند و از عیسی خواهش کرده گفتند: «او فریاد کنان به دنبال ما می آید، او را رخصت کن.»

²⁴But he answered, “I wasn’t sent to anyone but the lost sheep of the house of Israel.”

²⁴عیسی در جواب گفت: «من فقط برای گوسفندان گمشده خاندان اسرائیل فرستاده شده ام.»

²⁵But she came and worshiped him, saying, “Lord, help me.”

²⁵اما آن زن نزدیک آمده پیش پای عیسی به خاک افتاد و فریاد زد: «ای آقا، به من کمک کن.»

²⁶But he answered, “It is not appropriate to take the children’s bread and throw it to the dogs.”

²⁶عیسی در جواب او گفت: «درست نیست که نان اطفال را برداریم و پیش سگ ها بیندازیم.»

²⁷But she said, “Yes, Lord, but even the dogs eat the crumbs which fall from their masters’ table.”

²⁷اما آن زن جواب داد: «درست است ای آقا، اما سگ ها نیز از پس مانده های که از دسترخوان ارباب شان می افتد، می خورند.»

²⁸Then Jesus answered her, “Woman, great is your faith! Be it done to you even as you desire.” And her daughter was healed from that hour.

²⁸عیسی در جواب به او گفت: «ای زن، ایمان تو بزرگ است. آرزوی تو بر آورده شود.» و از همان لحظه دخترش شفا یافت.

²⁹Jesus departed there, and came near to the sea of Galilee; and he went up into the mountain, and sat there.

²⁹عیسی آن محل را ترک کرده و از راه لب بحیرۀ جلیل به بالای کوهی رفت و در آنجا نشست.

³⁰Great multitudes came to him, having with them the lame, blind, mute, maimed, and many others, and they put them down at his feet. He healed them,

³⁰عدۀ زیادی از مردم پیش او آمدند و شلان و کوران، گنگان و لنگان و بیماران دیگر را با خود آورده پیش پاهای او می گذاشتند و او آن ها را شفا می داد.

³¹so that the multitude wondered when they saw the mute speaking, injured whole, lame walking, and blind seeing—and they glorified the God of Israel.

³¹مردم وقتی گنگان را گویا و اشخاص شل را سالم و لنگان را روان و کوران را بینا دیدند، تعجب کردند و خدای اسرائیل را حمد گفتند.

³²Jesus summoned his disciples and said, “I have compassion on the multitude, because they continue with me now three days and have nothing to eat. I don’t want to send them away fasting, or they might faint on the way.”

³²عیسی شاگردان را پیش خود خواسته به آنها گفت: «دل من برای این مردم می سوزد. اینک سه روز است که آن ها با من هستند و دیگر چیزی برای خوردن ندارند. من نمی خواهم آن ها را گرسنه روانه کنم، چون ممکن است در راه ضعف کنند.»

³³The disciples said to him, “Where should we get so many loaves in a deserted place as to satisfy so great a multitude?”

³³شاگردان در جواب گفتند: «از کجا می توانیم در این بیابان نان کافی برای سیر کردن چنین جمعیتی پیدا کنیم؟»

³⁴Jesus said to them, “How many loaves do you have?” They said, “Seven, and a few small fish.”

³⁴عیسی پرسید: «چند نان دارید؟» جواب دادند: «هفت نان و چند ماهی کوچک.»

³⁵He commanded the multitude to sit down on the ground;

³⁵عیسی امر کرد که مردم روی زمین بنشینند.

³⁶and he took the seven loaves and the fish. He gave thanks and broke them, and gave to the disciples, and the disciples to the multitudes.

³⁶آنگاه آن هفت نان و ماهی ها را گرفت و پس از آنکه خدا را شکر نمود آن ها را پاره کرده به شاگردان داد و شاگردان به مردم دادند.

³⁷They all ate, and were filled. They took up seven baskets full of the broken pieces that were left over.

³⁷همه خوردند و سیر شدند و از خرده های باقیمانده هفت سبد پُر شد.

³⁸Those who ate were four thousand men, besides women and children.

³⁸غیر از زنان و کودکان چهار هزار مرد از آن خوراک خوردند.آنگاه عیسی جمعیت را رخصت داد و خود سوار کشتی شده و به ناحیه مَجدَل رفت.

³⁹Then he sent away the multitudes, got into the boat, and came into the borders of Magdala.

³⁹آنگاه عیسی جمعیت را رخصت داد و خود سوار کشتی شده و به ناحیه مَجدَل رفت.
