¹Then Jesus spoke to the multitudes and to his disciples,

¹آنگاه عیسی به مردم و شاگردان خود گفت:

²saying, “The scribes and the Pharisees sat on Moses’ seat.

²«چون علمای دین و پیروان فرقۀ فریسی بر مسند موسی نشسته اند،

³ All things therefore whatever they tell you to observe, observe and do, but don’t do their works; for they say, and don’t do.

³شما باید به هرچه آن ها می گویند گوش دهید و مطابق آن عمل نمایید اما از اعمال آنها پیروی نکنید، زیرا خود آن ها آنچه می گویند، نمی کنند.

⁴ For they bind heavy burdens that are grievous to be borne, and lay them on men’s shoulders; but they themselves will not lift a finger to help them.

⁴آن ها بارهای سنگین را می بندند و بر دوش مردم می گذارند در حالی که خود شان حاضر نیستند برای بلند کردن آن بار حتی انگشت خود را تکان دهند.

⁵ But all their works they do to be seen by men. They make their phylacteries phylacteries (tefillin in Hebrew) are small leather pouches that some Jewish men wear on their forehead and arm in prayer. They are used to carry a small scroll with some Scripture in it. See Deuteronomy 6:8. broad, enlarge the fringes or, tassels of their garments,

⁵هرچه می کنند برای تظاهر و خودنمایی است. بازو بند های خود را کلان تر و دامن چپن خود را درازتر می سازند.

⁶ and love the place of honor at feasts, the best seats in the synagogues,

⁶آن ها دوست دارند در صدر مجالس بنشینند و در کنیسه ها بهترین جا را داشته باشند

⁷ the salutations in the marketplaces, and to be called ‘Rabbi, Rabbi’ by men.

⁷و مردم در کوچه ها به آن ها سلام نمایند و آن ها را «استاد» خطاب کنند.

⁸ But don’t you be called ‘Rabbi,’ for one is your teacher, the Christ, and all of you are brothers.

⁸اما شما نباید «استاد» خوانده شوید، زیرا شما یک استاد دارید و همۀ شما برادر هستید.

⁹ Call no man on the earth your father, for one is your Father, he who is in heaven.

⁹هیچ کس را بر روی زمین پدر نخوانید، زیرا شما یک پدر دارید، یعنی همان پدر آسمانی.

¹⁰ Neither be called masters, for one is your master, the Christ.

¹⁰و نباید «پیشوا» خوانده شوید زیرا شما یک پیشوا دارید که مسیح است.

¹¹ But he who is greatest among you will be your servant.

¹¹کسی در میان شما از همه بزرگتر است که خادم همه باشد.

¹² Whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted.

¹²زیرا هر که خود را بزرگ سازد خوار ساخته خواهد شد و هرکه خود را فروتن سازد به بزرگی خواهد رسید.

¹³ “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you devour widows’ houses, and as a pretense you make long prayers. Therefore you will receive greater condemnation.

¹³وای بر شما ای علمای دین و فریسی ها منافق! شما راه پادشاهی آسمانی را بر روی مردم می بندید، خود تان داخل نمی شوید و دیگران را هم که می خواهند داخل شوند، نمی گذارید.

¹⁴ “But woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! Because you shut up the Kingdom of Heaven against men; for you don’t enter in yourselves, neither do you allow those who are entering in to enter. Some Greek manuscripts reverse the order of verses 13 and 14, and some omit verse 13, numbering verse 14 as 13.

¹⁴[وای بر شما ای علمای دین و فریسیانِ منافق، شما مال بیوه زنان را می خورید و حال آنکه محض خودنمایی دعای خود را طول می دهید، به این جهت شما شدید ترین جزاها را خواهید دید.]

¹⁵ Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you travel around by sea and land to make one proselyte; and when he becomes one, you make him twice as much of a son of Gehenna or, Hell as yourselves.

¹⁵وای بر شما ای علمای دین و فریسی ها منافق، شما بحر و خشکی را طی می کنید تا کسی را پیدا کنید که دین شما را بپذیرد. و وقتی که موفق شدید، او را دو برابر بدتر از خود تان سزاوار جهنم می سازید.

¹⁶ “Woe to you, you blind guides, who say, ‘Whoever swears by the temple, it is nothing; but whoever swears by the gold of the temple, he is obligated.’

¹⁶وای بر شما ای راهنمایان کور، شما می گویید: اگر کسی به عبادتگاه سوگند بخورد چیزی نیست، اما اگر به طلا های عبادتگاه سوگند بخورد، مجبور است به سوگند خود وفا کند.

¹⁷ You blind fools! For which is greater, the gold, or the temple that sanctifies the gold?

¹⁷ای احمقان و ای کوران، کدام مهمتر است، طلا یا عبادتگاهی که طلا را تقدیس می کند؟

¹⁸ ‘Whoever swears by the altar, it is nothing; but whoever swears by the gift that is on it, he is obligated?’

¹⁸شما می گویید: هرگاه کسی به قربانگاه سوگند بخورد چیزی نمی شود، اما اگر به هدایایی که در قربانگاه قرار دارد، سوگند بخورد مجبور است به آن عمل کند.

¹⁹ You blind fools! For which is greater, the gift, or the altar that sanctifies the gift?

¹⁹ای کوران! کدام مهمتر است، هدایا یا قربانگاهی که هدایا را تقدیس می کند؟

²⁰ He therefore who swears by the altar, swears by it, and by everything on it.

²⁰کسی که به قربانگاه سوگند یاد می کند به آن و به هرچه بر روی آن است، سوگند می خورد

²¹ He who swears by the temple, swears by it, and by him who was living NU reads “lives” in it.

²¹و کسی که به عبادتگاه سوگند می خورد به آن و به خدایی که در آن ساکن است، سوگند خورده است.

²² He who swears by heaven, swears by the throne of God, and by him who sits on it.

²²و هرگاه کسی به آسمان سوگند بخورد، به تخت سلطنت خدا و آن کس که بر آن می نشیند سوگند خورده است.

²³ “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you tithe mint, dill, and cumin, cumin is an aromatic seed from Cuminum cyminum, resembling caraway in flavor and appearance. It is used as a spice. and have left undone the weightier matters of the law: justice, mercy, and faith. But you ought to have done these, and not to have left the other undone.

²³وای بر شما ای علمای دین و فریسیانِ منافق، شما از نعناع و شِبِت و زیره ده یک می دهید، اما مهمترین احکام شریعت را که عدالت و رحمت و صداقت است، نادیده گرفته اید. شما باید اینها را انجام دهید و در عین حال از انجام سایر احکام غفلت نکنید.

²⁴ You blind guides, who strain out a gnat, and swallow a camel!

²⁴ای راهنمایان کور! شما پشه را صافی می کنید، اما شتر را می خورید.

²⁵ “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you clean the outside of the cup and of the platter, but within they are full of extortion and unrighteousness. TR reads “self-indulgence” instead of “unrighteousness”

²⁵وای بر شما ای علمای دین و فریسی ها منافق، شما بیرون پیاله و بشقاب را پاک می کنید، در حالی که درون آن از ظلم و ناپرهیزی پُر است.

²⁶ You blind Pharisee, first clean the inside of the cup and of the platter, that its outside may become clean also.

²⁶ای فریسی کور، اول درون پیاله را پاک کن که در آن صورت بیرون آن هم پاک خواهد بود.

²⁷ “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like whitened tombs, which outwardly appear beautiful, but inwardly are full of dead men’s bones, and of all uncleanness.

²⁷وای بر شما ای علمای دین و فریسی ها منافق، شما مثل مقبره های سفید شده ای هستید که ظاهر زیبا دارند، اما داخل آن ها پُر از استخوانهای مردگان و انواع کثافات است!

²⁸ Even so you also outwardly appear righteous to men, but inwardly you are full of hypocrisy and iniquity.

²⁸شما هم همینطور ظاهراً مردمان درستکار ولی در باطن پُر از ریاکاری و شرارت هستید.

²⁹ “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you build the tombs of the prophets, and decorate the tombs of the righteous,

²⁹وای بر شما ای علمای دین و فریسی ها منافق، شما مقبره های پیغمبران را می سازید و بناهایی را که به یادبود مقدسین ساخته شده، تزئین می کنید

³⁰ and say, ‘If we had lived in the days of our fathers, we wouldn’t have been partakers with them in the blood of the prophets.’

³⁰و می گویید: «اگر ما در زمان پدران خود زنده می بودیم، هرگز با آنها در قتل پیامبران شرکت نمی کردیم.»

³¹ Therefore you testify to yourselves that you are children of those who killed the prophets.

³¹به این ترتیب تصدیق می کنید که فرزندان کسانی هستید که پیغمبران را به قتل رسانیده اند.

³² Fill up, then, the measure of your fathers.

³²پس بروید و آنچه را که پدران تان شروع کردند به اتمام رسانید.

³³ You serpents, you offspring of vipers, how will you escape the judgment of Gehenna or, Hell ?

³³ای ماران، ای افعی زادگان، شما چگونه از مجازات دوزخ می گریزید؟

³⁴ Therefore behold, I send to you prophets, wise men, and scribes. Some of them you will kill and crucify; and some of them you will scourge in your synagogues, and persecute from city to city;

³⁴به این جهت من انبیا، حکما و علما را برای شما می فرستم، اما شما بعضی را می کشید و مصلوب می کنید و بعضی را هم در کنیسه های تان تازیانه می زنید و شهر به شهر می رانید

³⁵ that on you may come all the righteous blood shed on the earth, from the blood of righteous Abel to the blood of Zachariah son of Barachiah, whom you killed between the sanctuary and the altar.

³⁵و از این جهت خون همۀ نیکمردان خدا که بر زمین ریخته شده، بر گردن شما خواهد بود، از هابیل معصوم گرفته تا زکریا پسر بَرخِیا که او را در بین عبادتگاه و قربانگاه کشتید.

³⁶ Most certainly I tell you, all these things will come upon this generation.

³⁶در حقیقت به شما می گویم، گناه تمام این کارها به گردن این نسل خواهد بود.

³⁷ “Jerusalem, Jerusalem, who kills the prophets, and stones those who are sent to her! How often I would have gathered your children together, even as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, and you would not!

³⁷ای اورشلیم، ای اورشلیم، ای شهری که پیامبران را بقتل رسانیدی و رسولانی را که به نزد تو فرستاده شدند سنگسار کردی! چه بسیار اوقاتی که آرزو کردم مانند مرغی که چوچه های خود را بزیر پر و بال خود جمع می کند، فرزندان تو را به دور خود جمع کنم؛ اما تو نخواستی.

³⁸ Behold, your house is left to you desolate.

³⁸اکنون خانۀ شما خالی به شما واگذار خواهد شد!و بدانید که دیگر هرگز مرا نخواهید دید تا روزی که بگویید: متبارک باد او که به نام خداوند می آید.»

³⁹ For I tell you, you will not see me from now on, until you say, ‘Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!’” Psalm 118:26

³⁹و بدانید که دیگر هرگز مرا نخواهید دید تا روزی که بگویید: متبارک باد او که به نام خداوند می آید.»
