¹Jesus answered and spoke again in parables to them, saying,

¹عیسی بازهم برای مردم مَثَلی آورده گفت:

² “The Kingdom of Heaven is like a certain king, who made a marriage feast for his son,

²«پادشاهی آسمان مانند پادشاهی است که برای عروسی پسر خود، جشنی ترتیب داد.

³ and sent out his servants to call those who were invited to the marriage feast, but they would not come.

³او نوکران خود را فرستاد تا به دعوت شدگان بگویند در جشن حاضر شوند، اما آن ها نخواستند بیایند.

⁴ Again he sent out other servants, saying, ‘Tell those who are invited, “Behold, I have prepared my dinner. My cattle and my fatlings are killed, and all things are ready. Come to the marriage feast!”’

⁴پادشاه بار دیگر عده ای را فرستاده به آن ها فرمود که به دعوت شدگان بگویند: «به جشن عروسی بیائید، چون مهمانی ای که ترتیب داده ام آماده است، گاو ها و گوساله های خود را سر بریده و همه چیز را آماده کرده ام.»

⁵ But they made light of it, and went their ways, one to his own farm, another to his merchandise,

⁵اما دعوت شدگان به دعوت او اعتنائی نکردند و مشغول کار خود شدند. یکی به مزرعۀ خود رفت و دیگری به کسب و کار خود پرداخت

⁶ and the rest grabbed his servants, and treated them shamefully, and killed them.

⁶در حالی که دیگران، نوکران پادشاه را گرفته زدند و آن ها را کشتند.

⁷ When the king heard that, he was angry, and sent his armies, destroyed those murderers, and burned their city.

⁷وقتی پادشاه این را شنید، غضبناک شد و عساکر خود را فرستاد و آن ها قاتلان را کشتند و شهر شان را آتش زدند.

⁸ “Then he said to his servants, ‘The wedding is ready, but those who were invited weren’t worthy.

⁸آنگاه پادشاه به نوکران خود گفت: «جشن عروسی آماده است، اما دعوت شدگان لیاقت آنرا نداشتند.

⁹ Go therefore to the intersections of the highways, and as many as you may find, invite to the marriage feast.’

⁹پس به کوچه ها و سرکها ها بروید و هرکه را یافتید به عروسی دعوت کنید.»

¹⁰ Those servants went out into the highways, and gathered together as many as they found, both bad and good. The wedding was filled with guests.

¹⁰آنها رفته و هرکه را پیدا کردند ـ چه نیک و چه بد ـ با خود آوردند و به این ترتیب تالار از مهمانان پُر شد.

¹¹ But when the king came in to see the guests, he saw there a man who didn’t have on wedding clothing,

¹¹هنگامی که شاه وارد شد تا مهمانان را ببیند، مردی را دید که لباس عروسی بر تن نداشت.

¹² and he said to him, ‘Friend, how did you come in here not wearing wedding clothing?’ He was speechless.

¹²پادشاه از او پرسید: «ای دوست، چطور بدون لباس عروسی به اینجا آمده ای؟» او خاموش ماند.

¹³ Then the king said to the servants, ‘Bind him hand and foot, take him away, and throw him into the outer darkness; there is where the weeping and grinding of teeth will be.’

¹³پس پادشاه به ملازمان خود گفت: «دست و پای او را ببندید و او را بیرون در تاریکی بیندازید، جائی که گریه و دندان بر دندان ساییدن است.»

¹⁴ For many are called, but few chosen.”

¹⁴زیرا دعوت شدگان بسیارند، اما برگزیدگان کم هستند.»

¹⁵Then the Pharisees went and took counsel how they might entrap him in his talk.

¹⁵آنگاه پیروان فرقۀ فریسی نقشه کشیدند که چطور عیسی را با سخنان خودش به دام بیندازند.

¹⁶They sent their disciples to him, along with the Herodians, saying, “Teacher, we know that you are honest, and teach the way of God in truth, no matter whom you teach, for you aren’t partial to anyone.

¹⁶آن ها چند نفر از پیروان خود را همراه عده ای از هواداران هیرودیس به نزد عیسی فرستاده گفتند: «ای استاد، ما می دانیم که تو مرد راستگویی هستی. چون به ظاهر انسان توجهی نداری و راه خدا را بدون بیم و هراس از انسان، با راستی تعلیم می دهی،

¹⁷Tell us therefore, what do you think? Is it lawful to pay taxes to Caesar, or not?”

¹⁷پس به ما بگو نظر تو در این باره چیست؟ آیا دادن مالیات به امپراطور روم جایز است یا نه؟»

¹⁸But Jesus perceived their wickedness, and said, “Why do you test me, you hypocrites?

¹⁸عیسی به فریب آنها پی برد و به آنها فرمود: «ای منافقان، چرا می خواهید مرا امتحان کنید؟

¹⁹ Show me the tax money.” They brought to him a denarius.

¹⁹سکه ای را که با آن مالیات خود را می پردازید به من نشان دهید.» آن ها یک سکۀ نقره به او دادند.

²⁰He asked them, “Whose is this image and inscription?”

²⁰عیسی پرسید: «این تصویر و عنوان از کیست؟»

²¹They said to him, “Caesar’s.” Then he said to them, “Give therefore to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s.”

²¹آن ها جواب دادند: «از امپراطور.» عیسی به آنها فرمود: «پس آنچه را که از امپراطور است به امپراطور و آنچه را که از خداست به خدا بدهید.»

²²When they heard it, they marveled, and left him, and went away.

²²آن ها که از این جواب حیران شده بودند از آنجا برخاسته رفتند و عیسی را تنها گذاشتند.

²³On that day Sadducees (those who say that there is no resurrection) came to him. They asked him,

²³همان روز پیروان فرقۀ صدوقی که منکر رستاخیز مردگان هستند، پیش او آمدند و از او سؤال نمودند:

²⁴saying, “Teacher, Moses said, ‘If a man dies, having no children, his brother shall marry his wife, and raise up seed for his brother.’

²⁴«ای استاد، موسی گفته است که هرگاه شخصی بدون اولاد بمیرد، برادرش باید با زن او ازدواج کند و برای او فرزندانی بوجود آورد.

²⁵Now there were with us seven brothers. The first married and died, and having no seed left his wife to his brother.

²⁵باری، در بین ما هفت برادر بودند، اولی ازدواج کرد و پیش از آنکه دارای فرزندی شود، مُرد و همسر او به برادرش واگذار شد.

²⁶In the same way, the second also, and the third, to the seventh.

²⁶همینطور دومی و سومی تا هفتمی با آن زن ازدواج کردند و بدون اولاد مُردند.

²⁷After them all, the woman died.

²⁷آن زن هم بعد از همه مُرد.

²⁸In the resurrection therefore, whose wife will she be of the seven? For they all had her.”

²⁸پس در روز قیامت آن زن همسر کدام یک از آن ها خواهد بود، زیرا همۀ آنها با او ازدواج کرده بودند؟»

²⁹But Jesus answered them, “You are mistaken, not knowing the Scriptures, nor the power of God.

²⁹عیسی جواب داد: «شما در اشتباهید! نه از کلام خدا چیزی می دانید و نه از قدرت او!

³⁰ For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are like God’s angels in heaven.

³⁰در روز رستاخیز کسی نه زن می گیرد و نه شوهر می کند، بلکه همه در آن عالم مانند فرشتگان آسمانی هستند.

³¹ But concerning the resurrection of the dead, haven’t you read that which was spoken to you by God, saying,

³¹اما در خصوص رستاخیز مردگان آیا نخوانده اید که خود خدا به شما چه فرموده است؟

³² ‘I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob?’ Exodus 3:6 God is not the God of the dead, but of the living.”

³²او فرموده است: من خدای ابراهیم، خدای اسحاق و خدای یعقوب هستم. خدا، خدای مردگان نیست، بلکه خدای زندگان است.»

³³When the multitudes heard it, they were astonished at his teaching.

³³مردم که این را شنیدند، از تعالیم او حیران شدند.

³⁴But the Pharisees, when they heard that he had silenced the Sadducees, gathered themselves together.

³⁴وقتی پیروان فرقه فریسی شنیدند که عیسی پیروان فرقۀ صدوقی را قانع کرده است، دور او را گرفتند

³⁵One of them, a lawyer, asked him a question, testing him.

³⁵و یک نفر از آن ها که معلم شریعت بود از روی امتحان از عیسی سؤالی نموده گفت:

³⁶“Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the law?”

³⁶«ای استاد، کدام یک از احکام شریعت از همه بزرگتر است؟»

³⁷Jesus said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ Deuteronomy 6:5

³⁷عیسی جواب داد: «خداوند، خدای خود را با تمام دل و تمام جان و تمام عقل خود دوست بدار.

³⁸ This is the first and great commandment.

³⁸این اولین و بزرگترین حکم شریعت است.

³⁹ A second likewise is this, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ Leviticus 19:18

³⁹دومین حکمی که به همان اندازه مهم است شبیه اولی است، یعنی همسایۀ خود را مانند خویش دوست بدار.

⁴⁰ The whole law and the prophets depend on these two commandments.”

⁴⁰در این دو حکم تمام تورات و نوشته های پیامبران خلاصه شده است.»

⁴¹Now while the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus asked them a question,

⁴¹عیسی از آن پیروان فرقۀ فریسی که دور او ایستاده بودند، پرسید:

⁴²saying, “What do you think of the Christ? Whose son is he?” They said to him, “Of David.”

⁴²«نظر شما دربارۀ مسیح چیست؟ او پسر کیست؟» آن ها جواب دادند: «او پسر داود است.»

⁴³He said to them, “How then does David in the Spirit call him Lord, saying,

⁴³عیسی از آن ها پرسید: «پس چطور است که داود با الهام از جانب خدا، او را خداوند می خواند؟ زیرا داود می گوید:

⁴⁴ ‘The Lord said to my Lord, sit on my right hand, until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet?’ Psalm 110:1

⁴⁴«خداوند به خداوند من گفت: بر دست راست من بنشین تا دشمنان تو را زیر پاهای تو قرار دهم.»

⁴⁵ “If then David calls him Lord, how is he his son?”

⁴⁵او چطور می تواند پسر داود باشد در صورتی که خود داود او را خداوند می خواند؟»هیچ کس نتوانست در جواب او سخنی بگوید و از آن روز به بعد دیگر کسی جرأت نکرد از او سؤالی بنماید.

⁴⁶No one was able to answer him a word, neither did any man dare ask him any more questions from that day forth.
