¹Now when morning had come, all the chief priests and the elders of the people took counsel against Jesus to put him to death:

¹وقتی صبح شد سران کاهنان و بزرگان قوم در جلسه ای تصمیم گرفتند که چگونه عیسی را به قتل برسانند.

²and they bound him, and led him away, and delivered him up to Pontius Pilate, the governor.

²پس از آن او را دست بسته برده به پیلاطُس، والی رومی، تحویل دادند.

³Then Judas, who betrayed him, when he saw that Jesus was condemned, felt remorse, and brought back the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders,

³وقتی یهودای خائن دید که سر عیسی حکم شده است، از کار خود پشیمان شد و سی سکۀ نقره را به سران کاهنان و بزرگان قوم باز گردانید

⁴saying, “I have sinned in that I betrayed innocent blood.” But they said, “What is that to us? You see to it.”

⁴و گفت: «من گناه کرده ام که به یک مرد بی گناه خیانت کرده باعث مرگ او شده ام.» اما آن ها گفتند: «دیگر به ما مربوط نیست، خودت می دانی!»

⁵He threw down the pieces of silver in the sanctuary, and departed. He went away and hanged himself.

⁵پس او پول ها را در عبادتگاه روی زمین ریخت و بیرون رفته خود را حلق آویز کرد.

⁶The chief priests took the pieces of silver, and said, “It’s not lawful to put them into the treasury, since it is the price of blood.”

⁶سران کاهنان پول را برداشته گفتند: «نمی شود این پول را به بیت المال عبادتگاه ریخت، زیرا خونبها است.»

⁷They took counsel, and bought the potter’s field with them, to bury strangers in.

⁷بنابراین پس از مشورت، با آن پول مزرعۀ کوزه گر را خریدند تا برای بیگانگان مقیم اورشلیم گورستانی داشته باشند.

⁸Therefore that field was called “The Field of Blood” to this day.

⁸به این دلیل آن زمین تا به امروز، «مزرعۀ خون» خوانده می شود.

⁹Then that which was spoken through Jeremiah some manuscripts omit “Jeremiah” the prophet was fulfilled, saying, “They took the thirty pieces of silver, the price of him upon whom a price had been set, whom some of the children of Israel priced,

⁹به این وسیله پیشگوئی ارمیای نبی تمام شد که می گوید: «آن ها آن سی سکۀ نقره، یعنی قیمتی را که قوم اسرائیل برای او تعیین کرده بود، گرفتند

¹⁰and they gave them for the potter’s field, as the Lord commanded me.” Zechariah 11:12-13; Jeremiah 19:1-13; 32:6-9

¹⁰و با آن مزرعۀ کوزه گر را خریدند. چنانکه خداوند به من فرموده است.»

¹¹Now Jesus stood before the governor: and the governor asked him, saying, “Are you the King of the Jews?” Jesus said to him, “So you say.”

¹¹در این هنگام عیسی را به حضور والی آوردند. والی از او پرسید: «آیا تو پادشاه یهودیان هستی؟» عیسی فرمود: «همانست که می گویی.»

¹²When he was accused by the chief priests and elders, he answered nothing.

¹²ولی عیسی به تهمت های که سران کاهنان و بزرگان قوم به او می زدند جوابی نمی داد.

¹³Then Pilate said to him, “Don’t you hear how many things they testify against you?”

¹³آنگاه پیلاطُس به او گفت: «آیا این شهادت هائی را که برضد تو می دهند نمی شنوی؟»

¹⁴He gave him no answer, not even one word, so that the governor marveled greatly.

¹⁴اما او حتی یک کلمه هم جواب نداد به طوری که والی بسیار تعجب کرد.

¹⁵Now at the feast the governor was accustomed to release to the multitude one prisoner, whom they desired.

¹⁵در ایام عید رسم والی این بود که یک زندانی را به خواهش مردم آزاد می ساخت.

¹⁶They had then a notable prisoner, called Barabbas.

¹⁶در آن زمان شخص بسیار معروفی به نام باراَبا در زندان بود.

¹⁷When therefore they were gathered together, Pilate said to them, “Whom do you want me to release to you? Barabbas, or Jesus, who is called Christ?”

¹⁷وقتی مردم اجتماع کردند، پیلاطُس به آنها گفت: «می خواهید کدام یک از این دو نفر را برای تان آزاد کنم، باراَبا یا عیسی معروف به مسیح را؟»

¹⁸For he knew that because of envy they had delivered him up.

¹⁸زیرا او می دانست که یهودیان از روی حسد عیسی را به او تسلیم کرده اند.

¹⁹While he was sitting on the judgment seat, his wife sent to him, saying, “Have nothing to do with that righteous man, for I have suffered many things this day in a dream because of him.”

¹⁹هنگامی که پیلاطُس در دیوانخانه نشسته بود، همسرش پیغامی به این شرح برای او فرستاد: «با آن مرد بی گناه کاری نداشته باش، من دیشب به خاطر او در خواب هایی که دیدم، بسیار ناراحت بودم.»

²⁰Now the chief priests and the elders persuaded the multitudes to ask for Barabbas, and destroy Jesus.

²⁰ضمناً سران کاهنان و بزرگان قوم، جمعیت را تشویق نمودند که، از پیلاطُس بخواهند که باراَبا را آزاد سازد و عیسی را اعدام کند.

²¹But the governor answered them, “Which of the two do you want me to release to you?” They said, “Barabbas!”

²¹پس وقتی والی از آن ها پرسید: «کدامیک از این دو نفر را می خواهید برای تان آزاد سازم؟» آن ها گفتند: «باراَبا را.»

²²Pilate said to them, “What then shall I do to Jesus, who is called Christ?” They all said to him, “Let him be crucified!”

²²پیلاطُس پرسید: «پس با عیسی معروف به مسیح چه کنم؟» و آنها یک صدا گفتند: «مصلوبش کن.»

²³But the governor said, “Why? What evil has he done?” But they cried out exceedingly, saying, “Let him be crucified!”

²³پیلاطُس سؤال کرده گفت: «چرا؟ چه گناهی کرده است؟» اما آنها با فریادی بلندتر گفتند: «مصلوبش کن.»

²⁴So when Pilate saw that nothing was being gained, but rather that a disturbance was starting, he took water, and washed his hands before the multitude, saying, “I am innocent of the blood of this righteous person. You see to it.”

²⁴وقتی پیلاطُس دید که دیگر فایده ای ندارد و ممکن است شورشی ایجاد شود، آب خواست و پیش چشم مردم دست های خود را شست و گفت: «من از خون این مرد بری هستم! شما مسئولید!»

²⁵All the people answered, “May his blood be on us, and on our children!”

²⁵مردم یک صدا فریاد کردند: «خون این مرد به گردن ما و فرزندان ما باشد!»

²⁶Then he released to them Barabbas, but Jesus he flogged and delivered to be crucified.

²⁶پس از آن باراَبا را برای آنها آزاد کرد و فرمان داد عیسی را تازیانه بزنند و بسپارند تا مصلوب گردد.

²⁷Then the governor’s soldiers took Jesus into the Praetorium, and gathered the whole garrison together against him.

²⁷عساکر پیلاطُس عیسی را به حویلی قصر والی بردند و تمام عساکر به دور او جمع شدند.

²⁸They stripped him, and put a scarlet robe on him.

²⁸اول لباس عیسی را در آوردند و ردای ارغوانی رنگی به او پوشانیدند

²⁹They braided a crown of thorns and put it on his head, and a reed in his right hand; and they kneeled down before him, and mocked him, saying, “Hail, King of the Jews!”

²⁹و تاجی از خار بافته بر سرش نهادند و چوبی به دست او دادند و در برابر او زانو زده به ریشخند می گفتند: «درود بر پادشاه یهود.»

³⁰They spat on him, and took the reed and struck him on the head.

³⁰آن ها آب دهان بر او انداخته و با چوبی که در دستش بود بر سرش می زدند.

³¹When they had mocked him, they took the robe off of him, and put his clothes on him, and led him away to crucify him.

³¹آخر از مسخره کردن او دست برداشتند و آن ردا را در آورده لباس خودش را به او پوشانیدند. آنگاه او را بردند تا مصلوب کنند.

³²As they came out, they found a man of Cyrene, Simon by name, and they compelled him to go with them, that he might carry his cross.

³²در سر راه با مردی قیروانی به نام شمعون روبرو شدند و او را مجبور کردند که صلیب عیسی را ببرد.

³³They came to a place called “Golgotha,” that is to say, “The place of a skull.”

³³وقتی به محلی به نام جُلجُتا یعنی جُمجُمه رسیدند،

³⁴They gave him sour wine to drink mixed with gall. When he had tasted it, he would not drink.

³⁴شراب آمیخته به داروی بیهوش کننده به او دادند، اما وقتی آن را چشید، نخواست بنوشد.

³⁵When they had crucified him, they divided his clothing among them, casting lots, TR adds “that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet: ‘They divided my garments among them, and for my clothing they cast lots;’” [see Psalm 22:18 and John 19:24]

³⁵آن ها او را به صلیب میخکوب کردند. آنگاه بالای لباس او قرعه انداخته میان خود تقسیم نمودند

³⁶and they sat and watched him there.

³⁶و برای نگهبانی در آنجا نشستند.

³⁷They set up over his head the accusation against him written, “THIS IS JESUS, THE KING OF THE JEWS.”

³⁷جرم او را بر لوحی به این شرح نوشتند: «این است عیسی، پادشاه یهود» و بر بالای سرش نصب کردند.

³⁸Then there were two robbers crucified with him, one on his right hand and one on the left.

³⁸دو راهزن را نیز با او مصلوب کردند، یکی در سمت راست و دیگری در سمت چپ او.

³⁹Those who passed by blasphemed him, wagging their heads,

³⁹کسانی که از آنجا می گذشتند سرهای خود را می جنبانیدند و با دشنام به او می گفتند:

⁴⁰and saying, “You who destroy the temple, and build it in three days, save yourself! If you are the Son of God, come down from the cross!”

⁴⁰«تو که می خواستی عبادتگاه را خراب کنی و آنرا در سه روز از نو بسازی، اگر واقعاً پسر خدا هستی از صلیب پائین بیا و خود را نجات بده.»

⁴¹Likewise the chief priests also mocking, with the scribes, the Pharisees, TR omits “the Pharisees” and the elders, said,

⁴¹همچنین سران کاهنان و علمای دین و بزرگان قوم او را مسخره کرده می گفتند:

⁴²“He saved others, but he can’t save himself. If he is the King of Israel, let him come down from the cross now, and we will believe in him.

⁴²«او دیگران را نجات می داد، اما نمی تواند خود را نجات دهد. اگر پادشاه اسرائیل است، حالا از صلیب پائین بیاید و ما به او ایمان خواهیم آورد.

⁴³He trusts in God. Let God deliver him now, if he wants him; for he said, ‘I am the Son of God.’”

⁴³او به خدا توکل داشت و می گفت که پسر خداست، پس اگر خدا او را دوست داشته باشد او را آزاد می سازد.»

⁴⁴The robbers also who were crucified with him cast on him the same reproach.

⁴⁴حتی راهزنانی هم که با او مصلوب شده بودند، همینطور به او توهین می کردند.

⁴⁵Now from the sixth hour noon there was darkness over all the land until the ninth hour. 3:00 P. M.

⁴⁵از ظهر تا ساعت سه بعد از ظهر تاریکی تمام زمین را فرا گرفت.

⁴⁶About the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, “Eli, Eli, lima TR reads “lama” instead of “lima” sabachthani?” That is, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” Psalm 22:1

⁴⁶نزدیک ساعت سه عیسی با صدای بلند فریاد کرد: «ایلی، ایلی، لَما سَبَقتَنی؟»، یعنی: «خدای من، خدای من، چرا مرا ترک کردی؟»

⁴⁷Some of them who stood there, when they heard it, said, “This man is calling Elijah.”

⁴⁷بعضی از کسانی که آنجا ایستاده بودند این را شنیده گفتند: «الیاس را می خواهد.»

⁴⁸Immediately one of them ran, and took a sponge, and filled it with vinegar, and put it on a reed, and gave him a drink.

⁴⁸یکی از آنها فوراً دوید و اسفنجِ را آورده، در سرکه تر کرد و بر نوک چوبی قرار داده، پیش دهان عیسی برد.

⁴⁹The rest said, “Let him be. Let’s see whether Elijah comes to save him.”

⁴⁹اما دیگران گفتند: «بگذارید ببینیم آیا الیاس می آید او را نجات دهد یا نه!»

⁵⁰Jesus cried again with a loud voice, and yielded up his spirit.

⁵⁰عیسی بار دیگر فریاد بلندی کشید و جان سپرد.

⁵¹Behold, the veil of the temple was torn in two from the top to the bottom. The earth quaked and the rocks were split.

⁵¹در آن لحظه پردۀ قدس الاقداس عبادتگاه از بالا تا به پائین دو پاره شد و چنان زلزله ای شد، که تخته سنگ ها شگافته

⁵²The tombs were opened, and many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised;

⁵²و قبرها باز شدند و بسیاری از مقدسین که خفته بودند برخاستند

⁵³and coming out of the tombs after his resurrection, they entered into the holy city and appeared to many.

⁵³و از قبرهای خود بیرون آمده، بعد از رستاخیز عیسی به شهر مقدس وارد شدند و بسیاری از مردم آنها را دیدند.

⁵⁴Now the centurion, and those who were with him watching Jesus, when they saw the earthquake, and the things that were done, feared exceedingly, saying, “Truly this was the Son of God.”

⁵⁴وقتی صاحب منصب رومی و افراد او که به نگهبانی از عیسی مشغول بودند، زلزله و همۀ ماجرا را دیدند بسیار ترسیدند و گفتند: «بدون شک این مرد پسر خدا بود.»

⁵⁵Many women were there watching from afar, who had followed Jesus from Galilee, serving him.

⁵⁵عده ای از زنان که عیسی را خدمت می کردند و به دنبال او از جلیل آمده بودند در آنجا حضور داشتند و از دور جریان را دیدند.

⁵⁶Among them were Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James and Joses, and the mother of the sons of Zebedee.

⁵⁶در میان آنها مریم مجدلیه، مریم مادر یعقوب و یوسف و مادر پسران زَبدی دیده می شدند.

⁵⁷When evening had come, a rich man from Arimathaea, named Joseph, who himself was also Jesus’ disciple came.

⁵⁷در وقت غروب مردی ثروتمندی به نام یوسف که اهل رامه و یکی از پیروان عیسی بود رسید.

⁵⁸This man went to Pilate, and asked for Jesus’ body. Then Pilate commanded the body to be given up.

⁵⁸او نزد پیلاطُس رفت و تقاضا نمود جسد عیسی به او داده شود. پیلاطُس امر کرد که آنرا به او بدهند.

⁵⁹Joseph took the body, and wrapped it in a clean linen cloth,

⁵⁹یوسف جسد را برده در پارچۀ کتانی نو پیچید

⁶⁰and laid it in his own new tomb, which he had cut out in the rock, and he rolled a great stone to the door of the tomb, and departed.

⁶⁰و در قبر خود که نو از سنگ تراشیده بود، قرار داد و آنگاه سنگ بزرگی در پیش آن غلطانید و رفت.

⁶¹Mary Magdalene was there, and the other Mary, sitting opposite the tomb.

⁶¹مریم مجدلیه و آن مریم دیگر نیز در آنجا مقابل قبر نشسته بودند.

⁶²Now on the next day, which was the day after the Preparation Day, the chief priests and the Pharisees were gathered together to Pilate,

⁶²روز بعد یعنی صبح روز شنبه، سران کاهنان و پیروان فرقۀ فریسی بطور دسته جمعی پیش پیلاطُس رفته

⁶³saying, “Sir, we remember what that deceiver said while he was still alive: ‘After three days I will rise again.’

⁶³گفتند: «عالیجناب، ما به یاد داریم که آن گمراه کننده وقتی زنده بود گفت، که من پس از سه روز از نو زنده خواهم شد.

⁶⁴Command therefore that the tomb be made secure until the third day, lest perhaps his disciples come at night and steal him away, and tell the people, ‘He is risen from the dead;’ and the last deception will be worse than the first.”

⁶⁴پس امر کن تا روز سوم قبر تحت نظر باشد، وگرنه امکان دارد شاگردان او بیایند و جسد او را بدزدند و آنگاه به مردم بگویند که او پس از مرگ زنده شده است و به این ترتیب در آخر کار مردم را بیشتر از اول فریب دهند.»

⁶⁵Pilate said to them, “You have a guard. Go, make it as secure as you can.”

⁶⁵پیلاطُس گفت: «شما می توانید نگهبانانی در آنجا بگذارید. بروید و تا آنجا که ممکن است از آن محافظت کنید.»پس آن ها رفته قبر را مُهر و لاک کرده، نگهبانانی در آنجا گذاشتند تا از قبر نگهبانی کنند.

⁶⁶So they went with the guard and made the tomb secure, sealing the stone.
