¹Naomi had a kinsman of her husband’s, a mighty man of wealth, of the family of Elimelech, and his name was Boaz.

¹یکی از اقوام نعومی شخصی بود به نام بوعز که مردی ثروتمند و با نفوذ و وابسته به خانوادۀ شوهرش اَلیمَلَک بود.

²Ruth the Moabitess said to Naomi, “Let me now go to the field, and glean among the ears of grain after him in whose sight I shall find favor.” She said to her, “Go, my daughter.”

²یک روز روت به نعومی گفت: «من به مزارع اطراف می روم تا خوشه هائی را که دروگران برجا می گذارند، جمع کنم. مطمئن هستم کسی را خواهم یافت که به من اجازه دهد با او کار کنم.» نعومی جواب داد: «برو، دخترم.»

³She went, and came and gleaned in the field after the reapers: and she happened to come to the portion of the field belonging to Boaz, who was of the family of Elimelech.

³پس روت به یکی از مزارع رفته پشت سر دروگران راه می رفت و خوشه هائی را که برجا می ماند جمع می کرد. بر حسب اتفاق این مزرعه متعلق به بوعز بود.

⁴Behold, Boaz came from Bethlehem, and said to the reapers, “Yahweh be with you.” They answered him, “Yahweh bless you.”

⁴مدتی بعد، خود بوعز از بیت لحم آمد و بعد از سلام به دروگران گفت: «خداوند با شما باشد،» و آن ها در جواب گفتند: «خداوند ترا برکت دهد.»

⁵Then Boaz said to his servant who was set over the reapers, “Whose young lady is this?”

⁵بوعز از ناظر خود پرسد: «آن زن جوان کیست؟»

⁶The servant who was set over the reapers answered, “It is the Moabite lady who came back with Naomi out of the country of Moab.

⁶ناظر جواب داد: «او یک دختر موابی است که همراه نعومی از کشور موآب به اینجا آمده است،

⁷She said, ‘Please let me glean and gather after the reapers among the sheaves.’ So she came, and has continued even from the morning until now, except that she stayed a little in the house.”

⁷و از من اجازه خواست تا پشت سر دروگران خوشه های به جا مانده را جمع کند. او از صبح وقت مشغول کار است و همین حالا دست از کار کشید تا کمی در زیر سایبان استراحت کند.»

⁸Then Boaz said to Ruth, “Listen, my daughter. Don’t go to glean in another field, and don’t go from here, but stay here close to my maidens.

⁸آنگاه بوعز به روت گفت: «به نصیحت من گوش کن، در هیچ مزرعۀ دیگر جز اینجا خوشه نچین. همراه زنان دیگر در همین جا کار کن. به آن ها نگاه کن و هر جا آن ها درو می کنند تو هم دنبال آن ها باش. من به دروگران خود امر کرده ام که مزاحم تو نشوند. هر وقت تشنه شدی برو و از کوزه هائی که آن ها پر کرده اند، بنوش.»

⁹Let your eyes be on the field that they reap, and go after them. Haven’t I commanded the young men not to touch you? When you are thirsty, go to the vessels, and drink from that which the young men have drawn.”

⁹روت در مقابل بوعز به احترام خم شده به او گفت: «چرا اینقدر در فکر من هستید؟ چرا نسبت به یک نفر بیگانه به این اندازه مهربان هستید؟»

¹⁰Then she fell on her face, and bowed herself to the ground, and said to him, “Why have I found favor in your sight, that you should take knowledge of me, since I am a foreigner?”

¹⁰بوعز در جواب گفت: «آنچه تو بعد از مرگ شوهرت در حق مادر شوهر خود کردی بگوش من رسیده است. من می دانم چگونه پدر و مادر و وطن خود را ترک کردی و آمدی تا در میان قومی زندگی کنی که قبلاً چیزی دربارۀ آن ها نمی دانستی.

¹¹Boaz answered her, “It has fully been shown me, all that you have done to your mother-in-law since the death of your husband; and how you have left your father and your mother, and the land of your birth, and have come to a people that you didn’t know before.

¹¹خداوند، خدای اسرائیل، برای کارهائی که کرده ای ترا اجر کامل عطا فرماید.»

¹²May Yahweh repay your work, and a full reward be given you from Yahweh, the God of Israel, under whose wings you have come to take refuge.”

¹²روت در جواب گفت: «آقا، نسبت به بنده بسیار لطف دارید. سخنان محبت آمیز شما باعث دلگرمی من که از تمام خادمین شما کمتر هستم، شده است.»

¹³Then she said, “Let me find favor in your sight, my lord, because you have comforted me, and because you have spoken kindly to your handmaid, though I am not as one of your handmaidens.”

¹³در وقت ظهر بوعز به روت گفت: «بیا، کمی از این نان بردار و با شربت بخور.» پس روت در کنار بقیه دروگران نشست، و بوعز قدری گندم بریان هم به او داد. روت آنقدر خورد تا سیر شد و قدری هم اضافه ماند.

¹⁴At meal time Boaz said to her, “Come here, and eat of the bread, and dip your morsel in the vinegar.” She sat beside the reapers, and they reached her parched grain, and she ate, and was satisfied, and left some of it.

¹⁴بعد از آنکه روت برخاست و به خوشه چینی پرداخت، بوعز به دروگران خود امر کرده گفت: «بگذارید او هر جا که می خواهد خوشه جمع کند، حتی در جائی که خوشه ها را بسته بندی می کنید. به او چیزی نگوئید و مانع کارش نشوید. از آن گذشته مقداری از خوشه های بسته بندی شده را روی زمین بریزید تا او جمع کند.»

¹⁵When she had risen up to glean, Boaz commanded his young men, saying, “Let her glean even among the sheaves, and don’t reproach her.

¹⁵روت تا غروب آفتاب در آن مزرعه خوشه جمع کرد. وقتی خوشه ها را کوبید در حدود یک و نیم سیر جو خالص به دست آورد.

¹⁶Also pull out some for her from the bundles, and leave it, and let her glean, and don’t rebuke her.”

¹⁶روت تمام آن را با خود به شهر پیش مادر شوهر خود برد و به او نشان داد که چقدر جو جمع کرده است. او غذای اضافی خود را نیز به نعومی داد.

¹⁷So she gleaned in the field until evening; and she beat out that which she had gleaned, and it was about an ephah 1 ephah is about 22 litres or about 2/3 of a bushel of barley.

¹⁷نعومی از او پرسید: «از کجا تمام این جو را امروز جمع کردی؟ در مزرعۀ چه کسی مشغول کار بودی؟ خدا برکت دهد کسی را که چنین لطفی در حق تو کرده است.» روت به نعومی گفت که در مزرعۀ شخصی به نام بوعز کار می کرد.

¹⁸She took it up, and went into the city; and her mother-in-law saw what she had gleaned: and she brought out and gave to her that which she had left after she was sufficed.

¹⁸نعومی به عروس خود گفت: «خداوند بوعز را برکت دهد. خداوند احسانرا بر زندگان و مردگان ترک نکرده است،» و بعد از آن افزود: «آن مرد یکی از اقوام نزدیک ما است که باید سرپرستی ما را به عهده بگیرد.»

¹⁹Her mother-in-law said to her, “Where have you gleaned today? Where have you worked? Blessed be he who noticed you.” She showed her mother-in-law with whom she had worked, and said, “The man’s name with whom I worked today is Boaz.”

¹⁹پس از آن روت گفت: «از آن مهمتر، بوعز از من خواسته است تا وقتی که کار درو تمام نشده است فقط در مزرعۀ او خوشه چینی کنم.»

²⁰Naomi said to her daughter-in-law, “Blessed be he of Yahweh, who has not left off his kindness to the living and to the dead.” Naomi said to her, “The man is a close relative to us, one of our near kinsmen.”

²⁰نعومی به عروس خود گفت: «بلی، دخترم، بهتر است همراه زنان در مزرعه بوعز کار کنی. اگر جای دیگر بروی ممکن است دروگران مزاحم تو شوند.»پس روت تا آخر فصل درو گندم و جو در آن جا به جمع آوری غله ادامه داد و با مادر شوهر خود زندگی می کرد.

²¹Ruth the Moabitess said, “Yes, he said to me, ‘You shall stay close to my young men, until they have ended all my harvest.’”

²²Naomi said to Ruth her daughter-in-law, “It is good, my daughter, that you go out with his maidens, and that they not meet you in any other field.”

²³So she stayed close to the maidens of Boaz, to glean to the end of barley harvest and of wheat harvest; and she lived with her mother-in-law.
