¹Now these are the last words of David. David the son of Jesse says, the man who was raised on high says, the anointed of the God of Jacob, the sweet psalmist of Israel:

¹これはダビデの最後の言葉である。エッサイの子ダビデの託宣、すなわち高く挙げられた人、ヤコブの神に油を注がれた人、イスラエルの良き歌びとの託宣。

²“The Spirit of Yahweh spoke by me. His word was on my tongue.

²「主の霊はわたしによって語る、その言葉はわたしの舌の上にある。

³The God of Israel said, the Rock of Israel spoke to me, ‘One who rules over men righteously, who rules in the fear of God,

³イスラエルの神は語られた、イスラエルの岩はわたしに言われた、『人を正しく治める者、神を恐れて、治める者は、

⁴shall be as the light of the morning, when the sun rises, a morning without clouds, when the tender grass springs out of the earth, through clear shining after rain.’

⁴朝の光のように、雲のない朝に、輝きでる太陽のように、地に若草を芽ばえさせる雨のように人に臨む』。

⁵Most certainly my house is not so with God, yet he has made with me an everlasting covenant, ordered in all things, and sure, for it is all my salvation, and all my desire, although he doesn’t make it grow.

⁵まことに、わが家はそのように、神と共にあるではないか。それは、神が、よろず備わって確かなとこしえの契約をわたしと結ばれたからだ。どうして彼はわたしの救と願いを、皆なしとげられぬことがあろうか。

⁶But all of the ungodly shall be as thorns to be thrust away, because they can’t be taken with the hand,

⁶しかし、よこしまな人は、いばらのようで、手をもって取ることができないゆえ、みな共に捨てられるであろう。

⁷But the man who touches them must be armed with iron and the staff of a spear. They shall be utterly burned with fire in their place.”

⁷これに触れようとする人は鉄や、やりの柄をもって武装する、彼らはことごとく火で焼かれるであろう」。

⁸These are the names of the mighty men whom David had: Josheb Basshebeth a Tahchemonite, chief of the captains; the same was Adino the Eznite, against eight hundred slain at one time.

⁸ダビデの勇士たちの名は次のとおりである。タクモンびとヨセブ・バッセベテはかの三人のうちの長であったが、彼はいちじに八百人に向かって、やりをふるい、それを殺した。

⁹After him was Eleazar the son of Dodai the son of an Ahohite, one of the three mighty men with David, when they defied the Philistines who were there gathered together to battle, and the men of Israel were gone away.

⁹彼の次はアホアびとドドの子エレアザルであって、三勇士のひとりである。彼は、戦おうとしてそこに集まったペリシテびとに向かって戦いをいどみ、イスラエルの人々が退いた時、ダビデと共にいたが、

¹⁰He arose, and struck the Philistines until his hand was weary, and his hand froze to the sword; and Yahweh worked a great victory that day; and the people returned after him only to take spoil.

¹⁰立ってペリシテびとを撃ち、ついに手が疲れ、手がつるぎに着いて離れないほどになった。その日、主は大いなる勝利を与えられた。民は彼のあとに帰ってきて、ただ殺された者をはぎ取るばかりであった。

¹¹After him was Shammah the son of Agee a Hararite. The Philistines were gathered together into a troop, where there was a plot of ground full of lentils; and the people fled from the Philistines.

¹¹彼の次はハラルびとアゲの子シャンマであった。ある時、ペリシテびとはレヒに集まった。そこに一面にレンズ豆を作った地所があった。民はペリシテびとの前から逃げたが、

¹²But he stood in the midst of the plot, and defended it, and killed the Philistines; and Yahweh worked a great victory.

¹²彼はその地所の中に立って、これを防ぎ、ペリシテびとを殺した。そして主は大いなる救を与えられた。

¹³Three of the thirty chief men went down, and came to David in the harvest time to the cave of Adullam; and the troop of the Philistines was encamped in the valley of Rephaim.

¹³三十人の長たちのうちの三人は下って行って刈入れのころに、アドラムのほら穴にいるダビデのもとにきた。時にペリシテびとの一隊はレパイムの谷に陣を取っていた。

¹⁴David was then in the stronghold; and the garrison of the Philistines was then in Bethlehem.

¹⁴その時ダビデは要害におり、ペリシテびとの先陣はベツレヘムにあったが、

¹⁵David longed, and said, “Oh that one would give me water to drink of the well of Bethlehem, which is by the gate!”

¹⁵ダビデは、せつに望んで、「だれかベツレヘムの門のかたわらにある井戸の水をわたしに飲ませてくれるとよいのだが」と言った。

¹⁶The three mighty men broke through the army of the Philistines, and drew water out of the well of Bethlehem, that was by the gate, and took it, and brought it to David: but he would not drink of it, but poured it out to Yahweh.

¹⁶そこでその三人の勇士たちはペリシテびとの陣を突き通って、ベツレヘムの門のかたわらにある井戸の水を汲み取って、ダビデのもとに携えてきた。しかしダビデはそれを飲もうとはせず、主の前にそれを注いで、

¹⁷He said, “Be it far from me, Yahweh, that I should do this! Isn’t it the blood of the men who went in jeopardy of their lives?” Therefore he would not drink it. The three mighty men did these things.

¹⁷言った、「主よ、わたしは断じて飲むことをいたしません。いのちをかけて行った人々の血を、どうしてわたしは飲むことができましょう」。こうして彼はそれを飲もうとはしなかった。三勇士はこれらのことを行った。

¹⁸Abishai, the brother of Joab, the son of Zeruiah, was chief of the three. He lifted up his spear against three hundred and killed them, and had a name among the three.

¹⁸ゼルヤの子ヨアブの兄弟アビシャイは三十人の長であった。彼は三百人に向かって、やりをふるい、それを殺した。そして、彼は三人と共に名を得た。

¹⁹Wasn’t he most honorable of the three? therefore he was made their captain: however he didn’t attain to the three.

¹⁹彼は三十人のうち最も尊ばれた者で、彼らの長となった。しかし、かの三人には及ばなかった。

²⁰Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, the son of a valiant man of Kabzeel, who had done mighty deeds, he killed the two sons of Ariel of Moab: he went down also and killed a lion in the midst of a pit in time of snow.

²⁰エホヤダの子ベナヤはカブジエル出身の勇士であって、多くのてがらを立てた。彼はモアブのアリエルのふたりの子を撃ち殺した。彼はまた雪の日に下っていって、穴の中でししを撃ち殺した。

²¹He killed an Egyptian, a goodly man: and the Egyptian had a spear in his hand; but he went down to him with a staff, and plucked the spear out of the Egyptian’s hand, and killed him with his own spear.

²¹彼はまた姿のうるわしいエジプトびとを撃ち殺した。そのエジプトびとは手にやりを持っていたが、ベナヤはつえをとってその所に下っていき、エジプトびとの手からやりをもぎとって、そのやりをもって殺した。

²²Benaiah the son of Jehoiada did these things, and had a name among the three mighty men.

²²エホヤダの子ベナヤはこれらの事をして三勇士と共に名を得た。

²³He was more honorable than the thirty, but he didn’t attain to the three. David set him over his guard.

²³彼は三十人のうちに有名であったが、かの三人には及ばなかった。ダビデは彼を侍衛の長とした。

²⁴Asahel the brother of Joab was one of the thirty; Elhanan the son of Dodo of Bethlehem,

²⁴三十人のうちにあったのは、ヨアブの兄弟アサヘル。ベツレヘム出身のドドの子エルハナン。

²⁵Shammah the Harodite, Elika the Harodite,

²⁵ハロデ出身のシャンマ。ハロデ出身のエリカ。

²⁶Helez the Paltite, Ira the son of Ikkesh the Tekoite,

²⁶パルテびとヘレヅ。テコア出身のイッケシの子イラ。

²⁷Abiezer the Anathothite, Mebunnai the Hushathite,

²⁸Zalmon the Ahohite, Maharai the Netophathite,

²⁹Heleb the son of Baanah the Netophathite, Ittai the son of Ribai of Gibeah of the children of Benjamin,

³⁰Benaiah a Pirathonite, Hiddai of the brooks of Gaash.

³⁰ピラトンのベナヤ。ガアシの谷出身のヒダイ。

³¹Abialbon the Arbathite, Azmaveth the Barhumite,

³¹アルバテびとアビアルボン。バホリム出身のアズマウテ。

³²Eliahba the Shaalbonite, the sons of Jashen, Jonathan,

³³Shammah the Hararite, Ahiam the son of Sharar the Ararite,

³⁴Eliphelet the son of Ahasbai, the son of the Maacathite, Eliam the son of Ahithophel the Gilonite,

³⁵Hezro the Carmelite, Paarai the Arbite,

³⁶Igal the son of Nathan of Zobah, Bani the Gadite,

³⁶ゾバ出身のナタンの子イガル。ガドびとバニ。

³⁷Zelek the Ammonite, Naharai the Beerothite, armor bearers to Joab the son of Zeruiah,

³⁷アンモンびとゼレク。ゼルヤの子ヨアブの武器を執る者、ベエロテ出身のナハライ。

³⁸Ira the Ithrite, Gareb the Ithrite,

³⁸イテルびとイラ。イテルびとガレブ。ヘテびとウリヤ。合わせて三十七人である。

³⁹Uriah the Hittite: thirty-seven in all.
