¹Now the feast of unleavened bread, which is called the Passover, drew near.

¹さて、過越といわれている除酵祭が近づいた。

²The chief priests and the scribes sought how they might put him to death, for they feared the people.

²祭司長たちや律法学者たちは、どうかしてイエスを殺そうと計っていた。民衆を恐れていたからである。

³Satan entered into Judas, who was surnamed Iscariot, who was numbered with the twelve.

³そのとき、十二弟子のひとりで、イスカリオテと呼ばれていたユダに、サタンがはいった。

⁴He went away, and talked with the chief priests and captains about how he might deliver him to them.

⁴すなわち、彼は祭司長たちや宮守がしらたちのところへ行って、どうしてイエスを彼らに渡そうかと、その方法について協議した。

⁵They were glad, and agreed to give him money.

⁵彼らは喜んで、ユダに金を与える取決めをした。

⁶He consented, and sought an opportunity to deliver him to them in the absence of the multitude.

⁶ユダはそれを承諾した。そして、群衆のいないときにイエスを引き渡そうと、機会をねらっていた。

⁷The day of unleavened bread came, on which the Passover must be sacrificed.

⁷さて、過越の小羊をほふるべき除酵祭の日がきたので、

⁸He sent Peter and John, saying, “Go and prepare the Passover for us, that we may eat.”

⁸イエスはペテロとヨハネとを使いに出して言われた、「行って、過越の食事ができるように準備をしなさい」。

⁹They said to him, “Where do you want us to prepare?”

⁹彼らは言った、「どこに準備をしたらよいのですか」。

¹⁰He said to them, “Behold, when you have entered into the city, a man carrying a pitcher of water will meet you. Follow him into the house which he enters.

¹⁰イエスは言われた、「市内にはいったら、水がめを持っている男に出会うであろう。その人がはいる家までついて行って、

¹¹ Tell the master of the house, ‘The Teacher says to you, “Where is the guest room, where I may eat the Passover with my disciples?”’

¹¹その家の主人に言いなさい、『弟子たちと一緒に過越の食事をする座敷はどこか、と先生が言っておられます』。

¹² He will show you a large, furnished upper room. Make preparations there.”

¹²すると、その主人は席の整えられた二階の広間を見せてくれるから、そこに用意をしなさい」。

¹³They went, found things as he had told them, and they prepared the Passover.

¹³弟子たちは出て行ってみると、イエスが言われたとおりであったので、過越の食事の用意をした。

¹⁴When the hour had come, he sat down with the twelve apostles.

¹⁴時間になったので、イエスは食卓につかれ、使徒たちも共に席についた。

¹⁵He said to them, “I have earnestly desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer,

¹⁵イエスは彼らに言われた、「わたしは苦しみを受ける前に、あなたがたとこの過越の食事をしようと、切に望んでいた。

¹⁶ for I tell you, I will no longer by any means eat of it until it is fulfilled in the Kingdom of God.”

¹⁶あなたがたに言って置くが、神の国で過越が成就する時までは、わたしは二度と、この過越の食事をすることはない」。

¹⁷He received a cup, and when he had given thanks, he said, “Take this, and share it among yourselves,

¹⁷そして杯を取り、感謝して言われた、「これを取って、互に分けて飲め。

¹⁸ for I tell you, I will not drink at all again from the fruit of the vine, until the Kingdom of God comes.”

¹⁸あなたがたに言っておくが、今からのち神の国が来るまでは、わたしはぶどうの実から造ったものを、いっさい飲まない」。

¹⁹He took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it, and gave to them, saying, “This is my body which is given for you. Do this in memory of me.”

¹⁹またパンを取り、感謝してこれをさき、弟子たちに与えて言われた、「これは、あなたがたのために与えるわたしのからだである。わたしを記念するため、このように行いなさい」。

²⁰Likewise, he took the cup after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out for you.

²⁰食事ののち、杯も同じ様にして言われた、「この杯は、あなたがたのために流すわたしの血で立てられる新しい契約である。

²¹ But behold, the hand of him who betrays me is with me on the table.

²¹しかし、そこに、わたしを裏切る者が、わたしと一緒に食卓に手を置いている。

²² The Son of Man indeed goes, as it has been determined, but woe to that man through whom he is betrayed!”

²²人の子は定められたとおりに、去って行く。しかし人の子を裏切るその人は、わざわいである」。

²³They began to question among themselves, which of them it was who would do this thing.

²³弟子たちは、自分たちのうちのだれが、そんな事をしようとしているのだろうと、互に論じはじめた。

²⁴There arose also a contention among them, which of them was considered to be greatest.

²⁴それから、自分たちの中でだれがいちばん偉いだろうかと言って、争論が彼らの間に、起った。

²⁵He said to them, “The kings of the nations lord it over them, and those who have authority over them are called ‘benefactors.’

²⁵そこでイエスが言われた、「異邦の王たちはその民の上に君臨し、また、権力をふるっている者たちは恩人と呼ばれる。

²⁶ But not so with you. But one who is the greater among you, let him become as the younger, and one who is governing, as one who serves.

²⁶しかし、あなたがたは、そうであってはならない。かえって、あなたがたの中でいちばん偉い人はいちばん若い者のように、指導する人は仕える者のようになるべきである。

²⁷ For who is greater, one who sits at the table, or one who serves? Isn’t it he who sits at the table? But I am in the midst of you as one who serves.

²⁷食卓につく人と給仕する者と、どちらが偉いのか。食卓につく人の方ではないか。しかし、わたしはあなたがたの中で、給仕をする者のようにしている。

²⁸ But you are those who have continued with me in my trials.

²⁸あなたがたは、わたしの試錬のあいだ、わたしと一緒に最後まで忍んでくれた人たちである。

²⁹ I confer on you a kingdom, even as my Father conferred on me,

²⁹それで、わたしの父が国の支配をわたしにゆだねてくださったように、わたしもそれをあなたがたにゆだね、

³⁰ that you may eat and drink at my table in my Kingdom. You will sit on thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.”

³⁰わたしの国で食卓について飲み食いをさせ、また位に座してイスラエルの十二の部族をさばかせるであろう。

³¹The Lord said, “Simon, Simon, behold, Satan asked to have you, that he might sift you as wheat,

³¹シモン、シモン、見よ、サタンはあなたがたを麦のようにふるいにかけることを願って許された。

³² but I prayed for you, that your faith wouldn’t fail. You, when once you have turned again, establish your brothers The word for “brothers” here may be also correctly translated “brothers and sisters” or “siblings.” .”

³²しかし、わたしはあなたの信仰がなくならないように、あなたのために祈った。それで、あなたが立ち直ったときには、兄弟たちを力づけてやりなさい」。

³³He said to him, “Lord, I am ready to go with you both to prison and to death!”

³³シモンが言った、「主よ、わたしは獄にでも、また死に至るまでも、あなたとご一緒に行く覚悟です」。

³⁴He said, “I tell you, Peter, the rooster will by no means crow today until you deny that you know me three times.”

³⁴するとイエスが言われた、「ペテロよ、あなたに言っておく。きょう、鶏が鳴くまでに、あなたは三度わたしを知らないと言うだろう」。

³⁵He said to them, “When I sent you out without purse, and wallet, and shoes, did you lack anything?” They said, “Nothing.”

³⁵そして彼らに言われた、「わたしが財布も袋もくつも持たせずにあなたがたをつかわしたとき、何かこまったことがあったか」。彼らは、「いいえ、何もありませんでした」と答えた。

³⁶Then he said to them, “But now, whoever has a purse, let him take it, and likewise a wallet. Whoever has none, let him sell his cloak, and buy a sword.

³⁶そこで言われた、「しかし今は、財布のあるものは、それを持って行け。袋も同様に持って行け。また、つるぎのない者は、自分の上着を売って、それを買うがよい。

³⁷ For I tell you that this which is written must still be fulfilled in me: ‘He was counted with transgressors.’ Isaiah 53:12 For that which concerns me has an end.”

³⁷あなたがたに言うが、『彼は罪人のひとりに数えられた』としるしてあることは、わたしの身に成しとげられねばならない。そうだ、わたしに係わることは成就している」。

³⁸They said, “Lord, behold, here are two swords.” He said to them, “That is enough.”

³⁸弟子たちが言った、「主よ、ごらんなさい、ここにつるぎが二振りございます」。イエスは言われた、「それでよい」。

³⁹He came out, and went, as his custom was, to the Mount of Olives. His disciples also followed him.

³⁹イエスは出て、いつものようにオリブ山に行かれると、弟子たちも従って行った。

⁴⁰When he was at the place, he said to them, “Pray that you don’t enter into temptation.”

⁴⁰いつもの場所に着いてから、彼らに言われた、「誘惑に陥らないように祈りなさい」。

⁴¹He was withdrawn from them about a stone’s throw, and he knelt down and prayed,

⁴¹そしてご自分は、石を投げてとどくほど離れたところへ退き、ひざまずいて、祈って言われた、

⁴²saying, “Father, if you are willing, remove this cup from me. Nevertheless, not my will, but yours, be done.”

⁴²「父よ、みこころならば、どうぞ、この杯をわたしから取りのけてください。しかし、わたしの思いではなく、みこころが成るようにしてください」。

⁴³An angel from heaven appeared to him, strengthening him.

⁴³そのとき、御使が天からあらわれてイエスを力づけた。

⁴⁴Being in agony he prayed more earnestly. His sweat became like great drops of blood falling down on the ground.

⁴⁴イエスは苦しみもだえて、ますます切に祈られた。そして、その汗が血のしたたりのように地に落ちた。

⁴⁵When he rose up from his prayer, he came to the disciples, and found them sleeping because of grief,

⁴⁵祈を終えて立ちあがり、弟子たちのところへ行かれると、彼らが悲しみのはて寝入っているのをごらんになって

⁴⁶and said to them, “Why do you sleep? Rise and pray that you may not enter into temptation.”

⁴⁶言われた、「なぜ眠っているのか。誘惑に陥らないように、起きて祈っていなさい」。

⁴⁷While he was still speaking, behold, a multitude, and he who was called Judas, one of the twelve, was leading them. He came near to Jesus to kiss him.

⁴⁷イエスがまだそう言っておられるうちに、そこに群衆が現れ、十二弟子のひとりでユダという者が先頭に立って、イエスに接吻しようとして近づいてきた。

⁴⁸But Jesus said to him, “Judas, do you betray the Son of Man with a kiss?”

⁴⁸そこでイエスは言われた、「ユダ、あなたは接吻をもって人の子を裏切るのか」。

⁴⁹When those who were around him saw what was about to happen, they said to him, “Lord, shall we strike with the sword?”

⁴⁹イエスのそばにいた人たちは、事のなりゆきを見て、「主よ、つるぎで切りつけてやりましょうか」と言って、

⁵⁰A certain one of them struck the servant of the high priest, and cut off his right ear.

⁵⁰そのうちのひとりが、祭司長の僕に切りつけ、その右の耳を切り落した。

⁵¹But Jesus answered, “Let me at least do this” —and he touched his ear, and healed him.

⁵¹イエスはこれに対して言われた、「それだけでやめなさい」。そして、その僕の耳に手を触て、おいやしになった。

⁵²Jesus said to the chief priests, captains of the temple, and elders, who had come against him, “Have you come out as against a robber, with swords and clubs?

⁵²それから、自分にむかって来る祭司長、宮守がしら、長老たちに対して言われた、「あなたがたは、強盗にむかうように剣や棒を持って出てきたのか。

⁵³ When I was with you in the temple daily, you didn’t stretch out your hands against me. But this is your hour, and the power of darkness.”

⁵³毎日あなたがたと一緒に宮にいた時には、わたしに手をかけなかった。だが、今はあなたがたの時、また、やみの支配の時である」。

⁵⁴They seized him, and led him away, and brought him into the high priest’s house. But Peter followed from a distance.

⁵⁴それから人々はイエスを捕え、ひっぱって大祭司の邸宅へつれて行った。ペテロは遠くからついて行った。

⁵⁵When they had kindled a fire in the middle of the courtyard, and had sat down together, Peter sat among them.

⁵⁵人々は中庭のまん中に火をたいて、一緒にすわっていたので、ペテロもその中にすわった。

⁵⁶A certain servant girl saw him as he sat in the light, and looking intently at him, said, “This man also was with him.”

⁵⁶すると、ある女中が、彼が火のそばにすわっているのを見、彼を見つめて、「この人もイエスと一緒にいました」と言った。

⁵⁷He denied Jesus, saying, “Woman, I don’t know him.”

⁵⁷ペテロはそれを打ち消して、「わたしはその人を知らない」と言った。

⁵⁸After a little while someone else saw him, and said, “You also are one of them!” But Peter answered, “Man, I am not!”

⁵⁸しばらくして、ほかの人がペテロを見て言った、「あなたもあの仲間のひとりだ」。するとペテロは言った、「いや、それはちがう」。

⁵⁹After about one hour passed, another confidently affirmed, saying, “Truly this man also was with him, for he is a Galilean!”

⁵⁹約一時間たってから、またほかの者が言い張った、「たしかにこの人もイエスと一緒だった。この人もガリラヤ人なのだから」。

⁶⁰But Peter said, “Man, I don’t know what you are talking about!” Immediately, while he was still speaking, a rooster crowed.

⁶⁰ペテロは言った、「あなたの言っていることは、わたしにわからない」。すると、彼がまだ言い終らぬうちに、たちまち、鶏が鳴いた。

⁶¹The Lord turned, and looked at Peter. Then Peter remembered the Lord’s word, how he said to him, “Before the rooster crows you will deny me three times.”

⁶¹主は振りむいてペテロを見つめられた。そのときペテロは、「きょう、鶏が鳴く前に、三度わたしを知らないと言うであろう」と言われた主のお言葉を思い出した。

⁶²He went out, and wept bitterly.

⁶²そして外へ出て、激しく泣いた。

⁶³The men who held Jesus mocked him and beat him.

⁶³イエスを監視していた人たちは、イエスを嘲弄し、打ちたたき、

⁶⁴Having blindfolded him, they struck him on the face and asked him, “Prophesy! Who is the one who struck you?”

⁶⁴目かくしをして、「言いあててみよ。打ったのは、だれか」ときいたりした。

⁶⁵They spoke many other things against him, insulting him.

⁶⁵そのほか、いろいろな事を言って、イエスを愚弄した。

⁶⁶As soon as it was day, the assembly of the elders of the people was gathered together, both chief priests and scribes, and they led him away into their council, saying,

⁶⁶夜が明けたとき、人民の長老、祭司長たち、律法学者たちが集まり、イエスを議会に引き出して言った、

⁶⁷“If you are the Christ, tell us.” But he said to them, “If I tell you, you won’t believe,

⁶⁷「あなたがキリストなら、そう言ってもらいたい」。イエスは言われた、「わたしが言っても、あなたがたは信じないだろう。

⁶⁸ and if I ask, you will in no way answer me or let me go.

⁶⁸また、わたしがたずねても、答えないだろう。

⁶⁹ From now on, the Son of Man will be seated at the right hand of the power of God.”

⁶⁹しかし、人の子は今からのち、全能の神の右に座するであろう」。

⁷⁰They all said, “Are you then the Son of God?” He said to them, “You say it, because I am.”

⁷⁰彼らは言った、「では、あなたは神の子なのか」。イエスは言われた、「あなたがたの言うとおりである」。すると彼らは言った、「これ以上、なんの証拠がいるか。われわれは直接彼の口から聞いたのだから」。

⁷¹They said, “Why do we need any more witness? For we ourselves have heard from his own mouth!”

⁷¹すると彼らは言った、「これ以上、なんの証拠がいるか。われわれは直接彼の口から聞いたのだから」。
