¹He looked up, and saw the rich people who were putting their gifts into the treasury.

²He saw a certain poor widow casting in two small brass coins. literally, “two lepta.” 2 lepta was about 1% of a day’s wages for an agricultural laborer.

²また、ある貧しいやもめが、レプタ二つを入れるのを見て

³He said, “Truly I tell you, this poor widow put in more than all of them,

³言われた、「よく聞きなさい。あの貧しいやもめはだれよりもたくさん入れたのだ。

⁴ for all these put in gifts for God from their abundance, but she, out of her poverty, put in all that she had to live on.”

⁴これらの人たちはみな、ありあまる中から献金を投げ入れたが、あの婦人は、その乏しい中から、持っている生活費全部を入れたからである」。

⁵As some were talking about the temple and how it was decorated with beautiful stones and gifts, he said,

⁵ある人々が、見事な石と奉納物とで宮が飾られていることを話していたので、イエスは言われた、

⁶ “As for these things which you see, the days will come, in which there will not be left here one stone on another that will not be thrown down.”

⁶「あなたがたはこれらのものをながめているが、その石一つでもくずされずに、他の石の上に残ることもなくなる日が、来るであろう」。

⁷They asked him, “Teacher, so when will these things be? What is the sign that these things are about to happen?”

⁷そこで彼らはたずねた、「先生、では、いつそんなことが起るのでしょうか。またそんなことが起るような場合には、どんな前兆がありますか」。

⁸He said, “Watch out that you don’t get led astray, for many will come in my name, saying, ‘I am he or, I AM ,’ and, ‘The time is at hand.’ Therefore don’t follow them.

⁸イエスが言われた、「あなたがたは、惑わされないように気をつけなさい。多くの者がわたしの名を名のって現れ、自分がそれだとか、時が近づいたとか、言うであろう。彼らについて行くな。

⁹ When you hear of wars and disturbances, don’t be terrified, for these things must happen first, but the end won’t come immediately.”

⁹戦争と騒乱とのうわさを聞くときにも、おじ恐れるな。こうしたことはまず起らねばならないが、終りはすぐにはこない」。

¹⁰Then he said to them, “Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom.

¹⁰それから彼らに言われた、「民は民に、国は国に敵対して立ち上がるであろう。

¹¹ There will be great earthquakes, famines, and plagues in various places. There will be terrors and great signs from heaven.

¹¹また大地震があり、あちこちに疫病やききんが起り、いろいろ恐ろしいことや天からの物すごい前兆があるであろう。

¹² But before all these things, they will lay their hands on you and will persecute you, delivering you up to synagogues and prisons, bringing you before kings and governors for my name’s sake.

¹²しかし、これらのあらゆる出来事のある前に、人々はあなたがたに手をかけて迫害をし、会堂や獄に引き渡し、わたしの名のゆえに王や総督の前にひっぱって行くであろう。

¹³ It will turn out as a testimony for you.

¹³それは、あなたがたがあかしをする機会となるであろう。

¹⁴ Settle it therefore in your hearts not to meditate beforehand how to answer,

¹⁴だから、どう答弁しようかと、前もって考えておかないことに心を決めなさい。

¹⁵ for I will give you a mouth and wisdom which all your adversaries will not be able to withstand or to contradict.

¹⁵あなたの反対者のだれもが抗弁も否定もできないような言葉と知恵とを、わたしが授けるから。

¹⁶ You will be handed over even by parents, brothers, relatives, and friends. They will cause some of you to be put to death.

¹⁶しかし、あなたがたは両親、兄弟、親族、友人にさえ裏切られるであろう。また、あなたがたの中で殺されるものもあろう。

¹⁷ You will be hated by all men for my name’s sake.

¹⁷また、わたしの名のゆえにすべての人に憎まれるであろう。

¹⁸ And not a hair of your head will perish.

¹⁸しかし、あなたがたの髪の毛一すじでも失われることはない。

¹⁹ “By your endurance you will win your lives.

¹⁹あなたがたは耐え忍ぶことによって、自分の魂をかち取るであろう。

²⁰ “But when you see Jerusalem surrounded by armies, then know that its desolation is at hand.

²⁰エルサレムが軍隊に包囲されるのを見たならば、そのときは、その滅亡が近づいたとさとりなさい。

²¹ Then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains. Let those who are in the midst of her depart. Let those who are in the country not enter therein.

²¹そのとき、ユダヤにいる人々は山へ逃げよ。市中にいる者は、そこから出て行くがよい。また、いなかにいる者は市内にはいってはいけない。

²² For these are days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled.

²²それは、聖書にしるされたすべての事が実現する刑罰の日であるからだ。

²³ Woe to those who are pregnant and to those who nurse infants in those days! For there will be great distress in the land, and wrath to this people.

²³その日には、身重の女と乳飲み子をもつ女とは、不幸である。地上には大きな苦難があり、この民にはみ怒りが臨み、

²⁴ They will fall by the edge of the sword, and will be led captive into all the nations. Jerusalem will be trampled down by the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.

²⁴彼らはつるぎの刃に倒れ、また捕えられて諸国へ引きゆかれるであろう。そしてエルサレムは、異邦人の時期が満ちるまで、彼らに踏みにじられているであろう。

²⁵ There will be signs in the sun, moon, and stars; and on the earth anxiety of nations, in perplexity for the roaring of the sea and the waves;

²⁵また日と月と星とに、しるしが現れるであろう。そして、地上では、諸国民が悩み、海と大波とのとどろきにおじ惑い、

²⁶ men fainting for fear, and for expectation of the things which are coming on the world: for the powers of the heavens will be shaken.

²⁶人々は世界に起ろうとする事を思い、恐怖と不安で気絶するであろう。もろもろの天体が揺り動かされるからである。

²⁷ Then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.

²⁷そのとき、大いなる力と栄光とをもって、人の子が雲に乗って来るのを、人々は見るであろう。

²⁸ But when these things begin to happen, look up, and lift up your heads, because your redemption is near.”

²⁸これらの事が起りはじめたら、身を起し頭をもたげなさい。あなたがたの救が近づいているのだから」。

²⁹He told them a parable. “See the fig tree, and all the trees.

²⁹それから一つの譬を話された、「いちじくの木を、またすべての木を見なさい。

³⁰ When they are already budding, you see it and know by your own selves that the summer is already near.

³⁰はや芽を出せば、あなたがたはそれを見て、夏がすでに近いと、自分で気づくのである。

³¹ Even so you also, when you see these things happening, know that the Kingdom of God is near.

³¹このようにあなたがたも、これらの事が起るのを見たなら、神の国が近いのだとさとりなさい。

³² Most certainly I tell you, this generation will not pass away until all things are accomplished.

³²よく聞いておきなさい。これらの事が、ことごとく起るまでは、この時代は滅びることがない。

³³ Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will by no means pass away.

³³天地は滅びるであろう。しかしわたしの言葉は決して滅びることがない。

³⁴ “So be careful, or your hearts will be loaded down with carousing, drunkenness, and cares of this life, and that day will come on you suddenly.

³⁴あなたがたが放縦や、泥酔や、世の煩いのために心が鈍っているうちに、思いがけないとき、その日がわなのようにあなたがたを捕えることがないように、よく注意していなさい。

³⁵ For it will come like a snare on all those who dwell on the surface of all the earth.

³⁵その日は地の全面に住むすべての人に臨むのであるから。

³⁶ Therefore be watchful all the time, praying that you may be counted worthy to escape all these things that will happen, and to stand before the Son of Man.”

³⁶これらの起ろうとしているすべての事からのがれて、人の子の前に立つことができるように、絶えず目をさまして祈っていなさい」。

³⁷Every day Jesus was teaching in the temple, and every night he would go out and spend the night on the mountain that is called Olivet.
