¹But on the first day of the week, at early dawn, they and some others came to the tomb, bringing the spices which they had prepared.

¹週の初めの日、夜明け前に、女たちは用意しておいた香料を携えて、墓に行った。

²They found the stone rolled away from the tomb.

²ところが、石が墓からころがしてあるので、

³They entered in, and didn’t find the Lord Jesus’ body.

³中にはいってみると、主イエスのからだが見当らなかった。

⁴It happened, while they were greatly perplexed about this, behold, two men stood by them in dazzling clothing.

⁴そのため途方にくれていると、見よ、輝いた衣を着たふたりの者が、彼らに現れた。

⁵Becoming terrified, they bowed their faces down to the earth. They said to them, “Why do you seek the living among the dead?

⁵女たちは驚き恐れて、顔を地に伏せていると、このふたりの者が言った、「あなたがたは、なぜ生きた方を死人の中にたずねているのか。

⁶He isn’t here, but is risen. Remember what he told you when he was still in Galilee,

⁶そのかたは、ここにはおられない。よみがえられたのだ。まだガリラヤにおられたとき、あなたがたにお話しになったことを思い出しなさい。

⁷saying that the Son of Man must be delivered up into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again?”

⁷すなわち、人の子は必ず罪人らの手に渡され、十字架につけられ、そして三日目によみがえる、と仰せられたではないか」。

⁸They remembered his words,

⁸そこで女たちはその言葉を思い出し、

⁹returned from the tomb, and told all these things to the eleven, and to all the rest.

⁹墓から帰って、これらいっさいのことを、十一弟子や、その他みんなの人に報告した。

¹⁰Now they were Mary Magdalene, Joanna, and Mary the mother of James. The other women with them told these things to the apostles.

¹⁰この女たちというのは、マグダラのマリヤ、ヨハンナ、およびヤコブの母マリヤであった。彼女たちと一緒にいたほかの女たちも、このことを使徒たちに話した。

¹¹These words seemed to them to be nonsense, and they didn’t believe them.

¹¹ところが、使徒たちには、それが愚かな話のように思われて、それを信じなかった。〔

¹²But Peter got up and ran to the tomb. Stooping and looking in, he saw the strips of linen lying by themselves, and he departed to his home, wondering what had happened.

¹²ペテロは立って墓へ走って行き、かがんで中を見ると、亜麻布だけがそこにあったので、事の次第を不思議に思いながら帰って行った。〕

¹³Behold, two of them were going that very day to a village named Emmaus, which was sixty stadia 60 stadia = about 11 kilometers or about 7 miles. from Jerusalem.

¹³この日、ふたりの弟子が、エルサレムから七マイルばかり離れたエマオという村へ行きながら、

¹⁴They talked with each other about all of these things which had happened.

¹⁴このいっさいの出来事について互に語り合っていた。

¹⁵It happened, while they talked and questioned together, that Jesus himself came near, and went with them.

¹⁵語り合い論じ合っていると、イエスご自身が近づいてきて、彼らと一緒に歩いて行かれた。

¹⁶But their eyes were kept from recognizing him.

¹⁶しかし、彼らの目がさえぎられて、イエスを認めることができなかった。

¹⁷He said to them, “What are you talking about as you walk, and are sad?”

¹⁷イエスは彼らに言われた、「歩きながら互に語り合っているその話は、なんのことなのか」。彼らは悲しそうな顔をして立ちどまった。

¹⁸One of them, named Cleopas, answered him, “Are you the only stranger in Jerusalem who doesn’t know the things which have happened there in these days?”

¹⁸そのひとりのクレオパという者が、答えて言った、「あなたはエルサレムに泊まっていながら、あなただけが、この都でこのごろ起ったことをご存じないのですか」。

¹⁹He said to them, “What things?” They said to him, “The things concerning Jesus, the Nazarene, who was a prophet mighty in deed and word before God and all the people;

¹⁹「それは、どんなことか」と言われると、彼らは言った、「ナザレのイエスのことです。あのかたは、神とすべての民衆との前で、わざにも言葉にも力ある預言者でしたが、

²⁰and how the chief priests and our rulers delivered him up to be condemned to death, and crucified him.

²⁰祭司長たちや役人たちが、死刑に処するために引き渡し、十字架につけたのです。

²¹But we were hoping that it was he who would redeem Israel. Yes, and besides all this, it is now the third day since these things happened.

²¹わたしたちは、イスラエルを救うのはこの人であろうと、望みをかけていました。しかもその上に、この事が起ってから、きょうが三日目なのです。

²²Also, certain women of our company amazed us, having arrived early at the tomb;

²²ところが、わたしたちの仲間である数人の女が、わたしたちを驚かせました。というのは、彼らが朝早く墓に行きますと、

²³and when they didn’t find his body, they came saying that they had also seen a vision of angels, who said that he was alive.

²³イエスのからだが見当らないので、帰ってきましたが、そのとき御使が現れて、『イエスは生きておられる』と告げたと申すのです。

²⁴Some of us went to the tomb, and found it just like the women had said, but they didn’t see him.”

²⁴それで、わたしたちの仲間が数人、墓に行って見ますと、果して女たちが言ったとおりで、イエスは見当りませんでした」。

²⁵He said to them, “Foolish men, and slow of heart to believe in all that the prophets have spoken!

²⁵そこでイエスが言われた、「ああ、愚かで心のにぶいため、預言者たちが説いたすべての事を信じられない者たちよ。

²⁶ Didn’t the Christ have to suffer these things and to enter into his glory?”

²⁶キリストは必ず、これらの苦難を受けて、その栄光に入るはずではなかったのか」。

²⁷Beginning from Moses and from all the prophets, he explained to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning himself.

²⁷こう言って、モーセやすべての預言者からはじめて、聖書全体にわたり、ご自身についてしるしてある事どもを、説きあかされた。

²⁸They drew near to the village, where they were going, and he acted like he would go further.

²⁸それから、彼らは行こうとしていた村に近づいたが、イエスがなお先へ進み行かれる様子であった。

²⁹They urged him, saying, “Stay with us, for it is almost evening, and the day is almost over.” He went in to stay with them.

²⁹そこで、しいて引き止めて言った、「わたしたちと一緒にお泊まり下さい。もう夕暮になっており、日もはや傾いています」。イエスは、彼らと共に泊まるために、家にはいられた。

³⁰It happened, that when he had sat down at the table with them, he took the bread and gave thanks. Breaking it, he gave to them.

³⁰一緒に食卓につかれたとき、パンを取り、祝福してさき、彼らに渡しておられるうちに、

³¹Their eyes were opened, and they recognized him, and he vanished out of their sight.

³¹彼らの目が開けて、それがイエスであることがわかった。すると、み姿が見えなくなった。

³²They said one to another, “Weren’t our hearts burning within us, while he spoke to us along the way, and while he opened the Scriptures to us?”

³²彼らは互に言った、「道々お話しになったとき、また聖書を説き明してくださったとき、お互の心が内に燃えたではないか」。

³³They rose up that very hour, returned to Jerusalem, and found the eleven gathered together, and those who were with them,

³³そして、すぐに立ってエルサレムに帰って見ると、十一弟子とその仲間が集まっていて、

³⁴saying, “The Lord is risen indeed, and has appeared to Simon!”

³⁴「主は、ほんとうによみがえって、シモンに現れなさった」と言っていた。

³⁵They related the things that happened along the way, and how he was recognized by them in the breaking of the bread.

³⁵そこでふたりの者は、途中であったことや、パンをおさきになる様子でイエスだとわかったことなどを話した。

³⁶As they said these things, Jesus himself stood among them, and said to them, “Peace be to you.”

³⁶こう話していると、イエスが彼らの中にお立ちになった。〔そして「やすかれ」と言われた。〕

³⁷But they were terrified and filled with fear, and supposed that they had seen a spirit.

³⁷彼らは恐れ驚いて、霊を見ているのだと思った。

³⁸He said to them, “Why are you troubled? Why do doubts arise in your hearts?

³⁸そこでイエスが言われた、「なぜおじ惑っているのか。どうして心に疑いを起すのか。

³⁹ See my hands and my feet, that it is truly me. Touch me and see, for a spirit doesn’t have flesh and bones, as you see that I have.”

³⁹わたしの手や足を見なさい。まさしくわたしなのだ。さわって見なさい。霊には肉や骨はないが、あなたがたが見るとおり、わたしにはあるのだ」。〔

⁴⁰When he had said this, he showed them his hands and his feet.

⁴⁰こう言って、手と足とをお見せになった。〕

⁴¹While they still didn’t believe for joy, and wondered, he said to them, “Do you have anything here to eat?”

⁴¹彼らは喜びのあまり、まだ信じられないで不思議に思っていると、イエスが「ここに何か食物があるか」と言われた。

⁴²They gave him a piece of a broiled fish and some honeycomb.

⁴²彼らが焼いた魚の一きれをさしあげると、

⁴³He took them, and ate in front of them.

⁴³イエスはそれを取って、みんなの前で食べられた。

⁴⁴He said to them, “This is what I told you, while I was still with you, that all things which are written in the law of Moses, the prophets, and the psalms, concerning me must be fulfilled.”

⁴⁴それから彼らに対して言われた、「わたしが以前あなたがたと一緒にいた時分に話して聞かせた言葉は、こうであった。すなわち、モーセの律法と預言書と詩篇とに、わたしについて書いてあることは、必ずことごとく成就する」。

⁴⁵Then he opened their minds, that they might understand the Scriptures.

⁴⁵そこでイエスは、聖書を悟らせるために彼らの心を開いて

⁴⁶He said to them, “Thus it is written, and thus it was necessary for the Christ to suffer and to rise from the dead the third day,

⁴⁶言われた、「こう、しるしてある。キリストは苦しみを受けて、三日目に死人の中からよみがえる。

⁴⁷ and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name to all the nations, beginning at Jerusalem.

⁴⁷そして、その名によって罪のゆるしを得させる悔改めが、エルサレムからはじまって、もろもろの国民に宣べ伝えられる。

⁴⁸ You are witnesses of these things.

⁴⁸あなたがたは、これらの事の証人である。

⁴⁹ Behold, I send forth the promise of my Father on you. But wait in the city of Jerusalem until you are clothed with power from on high.”

⁴⁹見よ、わたしの父が約束されたものを、あなたがたに贈る。だから、上から力を授けられるまでは、あなたがたは都にとどまっていなさい」。

⁵⁰He led them out as far as Bethany, and he lifted up his hands, and blessed them.

⁵⁰それから、イエスは彼らをベタニヤの近くまで連れて行き、手をあげて彼らを祝福された。

⁵¹It happened, while he blessed them, that he withdrew from them, and was carried up into heaven.

⁵¹祝福しておられるうちに、彼らを離れて、〔天にあげられた。〕

⁵²They worshiped him, and returned to Jerusalem with great joy,

⁵²彼らは〔イエスを拝し、〕非常な喜びをもってエルサレムに帰り、絶えず宮にいて、神をほめたたえていた。

⁵³and were continually in the temple, praising and blessing God. Amen.
