1Paul, looking steadfastly at the council, said, “Brothers, I have lived before God in all good conscience until this day.”

2The high priest, Ananias, commanded those who stood by him to strike him on the mouth.
3Dɣa Bulus yenna : A k-id-iwet Ṛebbi a bu sin wudmawen ! Teqqimeḍ aț-țḥekmeḍ fell-i s ccariɛa, lameɛna kečč s yiman-ik txulfeḍ-ț imi tumreḍ ad iyi wten.
3Then Paul said to him, “God will strike you, you whitewashed wall! Do you sit to judge me according to the law, and command me to be struck contrary to the law?”
4Widak yellan zdat-es nnan-as : Tregmeḍ lmuqeddem ameqqran n Ṛebbi !
4Those who stood by said, “Do you malign God’s high priest?”
5Bulus yenna-yasen : Ur ẓriɣ ara ay atmaten belli d nețța i d lmuqeddem ameqqran, axaṭer yura di ccariɛa : Ur țekkes ara leqdeṛ ɣef lḥakem n wegdud-ik.
5Paul said, “I didn’t know, brothers, that he was high priest. For it is written, ‘You shall not speak evil of a ruler of your people.’” Exodus 22:28

6But when Paul perceived that the one part were Sadducees and the other Pharisees, he cried out in the council, “Men and brothers, I am a Pharisee, a son of Pharisees. Concerning the hope and resurrection of the dead I am being judged!”

7When he had said this, an argument arose between the Pharisees and Sadducees, and the assembly was divided.
8Axaṭer isaduqiyen qqaṛen ulac ḥeggu, ulac lmalayekkat, ulac leṛwaḥ ; ma d ifariziyen, nutni umnen s wannect agi.
8For the Sadducees say that there is no resurrection, nor angel, nor spirit; but the Pharisees confess all of these.
9Ikker umennuɣ gar-asen ; kra n lɛulama n ccariɛa n tejmaɛt n ifariziyen kkren iwakken ad ḥudden Bulus, nnan : Ur nufi ara ayen n diri deg wemdan-agi. Yezmer lḥal ihdeṛ-as-d Ṛebbi neɣ lmelk !
9A great clamor arose, and some of the scribes of the Pharisees part stood up, and contended, saying, “We find no evil in this man. But if a spirit or angel has spoken to him, let’s not fight against God!”
10Imi ițțimɣuṛ umenɣi, lqebṭan ameqqran yugad ad feṛqen Bulus d iftaten. Yumeṛ i lɛeskeṛ ad ṛuḥen a t-id-kksen si tlemmast-nsen, a t awin ɣer lbeṛj.
10When a great argument arose, the commanding officer, fearing that Paul would be torn in pieces by them, commanded the soldiers to go down and take him by force from among them, and bring him into the barracks.
11Azekka-nni deg iḍ, Sidna Ɛisa iḍheṛ-as-d i Bulus yenna-yas : Ur țțaggad ara, axaṭer am akken tcehdeḍ fell-i di temdint n Lquds, ilaq daɣen aț-țcehdeḍ fell-i di temdint n Ṛuma.
11The following night, the Lord stood by him, and said, “Cheer up, Paul, for as you have testified about me at Jerusalem, so you must testify also at Rome.”
12Mi guli wass, at Isṛail xedmen tiḥileț, msefhamen, gullen ur ččin ur swin alamma nɣan Bulus.
12When it was day, some of the Jews banded together, and bound themselves under a curse, saying that they would neither eat nor drink until they had killed Paul.
13Wid akk i s-ixedmen taxazabit agi, llan akteṛ n ṛebɛin yid-sen.
13There were more than forty people who had made this conspiracy.
14Ṛuḥen ad ẓren imeqqranen d lmuqedmin akk-d lɛuqal nnan asen : Neggul s limin ameqqran, ur nečči acemma alamma nenɣa Bulus.
14They came to the chief priests and the elders, and said, “We have bound ourselves under a great curse, to taste nothing until we have killed Paul.
15Tura ihi, init-as i lqebṭan ameqqran a t-id-yawi ɣer unejmaɛ n ccṛeɛ zdat-wen, amzun tebɣam a s-tɛiwdem abeḥḥet ; ma d nukkni, a nheggi iman-nneɣ a t-nenɣ uqbel a d-yaweḍ ɣer dagi.
15Now therefore, you with the council inform the commanding officer that he should bring him down to you tomorrow, as though you were going to judge his case more exactly. We are ready to kill him before he comes near.”
16Lameɛna mmi-s n weltma-s n Bulus imi gesla s tḥileț-nni i s heggan, iṛuḥ ɣer lbeṛj anda yețwaḥbes Bulus, a s-yessiweḍ lexbaṛ.
16But Paul’s sister’s son heard of their lying in wait, and he came and entered into the barracks and told Paul.
17Bulus yessawel-ed i yiwen si lfesyanat, yenna-yas : Awi aqcic-agi ɣer lqebṭan ameqqran, axaṭer yesɛa awal ara s-yini.
17Paul summoned one of the centurions, and said, “Bring this young man to the commanding officer, for he has something to tell him.”
18Lfesyan yewwi yid-es aqcic-nni ɣer lqebṭan ameqqran, yenna-yas : Bulus ameḥbus-nni yessawel iyi-d iḥellel-iyi iwakken a k-d-awiɣ aqcic-agi, yesɛa awal ara k-d-yini.
18So he took him, and brought him to the commanding officer, and said, “Paul, the prisoner, summoned me and asked me to bring this young man to you, who has something to tell you.”
19Lqebṭan ameqqran iddem aqcic-nni seg ufus, ɛezlen iman-nsen ɣer ṭṭeṛf ; yenna-yas : D acu i tebɣiḍ a yi-t-id-tiniḍ ?
19The commanding officer took him by the hand, and going aside, asked him privately, “What is it that you have to tell me?”
20Yerra-yas : At Isṛail msefhamen a k-d ḍelben aț-țawiḍ Bulus azekka ɣer zdat unejmaɛ n ccṛeɛ, ufan-d sebba a s-ɛiwden abeḥḥet ɣef temsalt-is.
20He said, “The Jews have agreed to ask you to bring Paul down to the council tomorrow, as though intending to inquire somewhat more accurately concerning him.
21Ur țțaɣ ara awal-nsen, axaṭer akteṛ n ṛebɛin deg-sen ḥeyylen-as, gullen s limin ameqqran ur tețțen ur tessen alamma nɣan-t. Tura heggan iman-nsen, țṛaǧun anagar lebɣi-k.
21Therefore don’t yield to them, for more than forty men lie in wait for him, who have bound themselves under a curse neither to eat nor to drink until they have killed him. Now they are ready, looking for the promise from you.”
22Amdebbar ameqqran iserreḥ-as i weqcic-nni ad iṛuḥ, yenna-yas : Ur qqaṛ i yiwen belli tessaweḍed iyi-d lexbaṛ-agi.
22So the commanding officer let the young man go, charging him, “Tell no one that you have revealed these things to me.”
23Yuɣal issawel i sin lfesyanat, yenna-yasen : Heggit mitin iɛeskṛiwen, sebɛin yemnayen akk-d mitin iɛeskṛiwen i gteddun s imezṛagen, ad ṛuḥen ɣef tesɛa n yiḍ ɣer Qiṣarya.
23He called to himself two of the centurions, and said, “Prepare two hundred soldiers to go as far as Caesarea, with seventy horsemen, and two hundred men armed with spears, at the third hour of the night about 9:00 PM .”
24Heggit daɣen iɛewdiwen iwakken ad ssiwḍen Bulus di laman ɣer lḥakem Filiks.
24He asked them to provide animals, that they might set Paul on one, and bring him safely to Felix the governor.
25Yura tabṛaț-agi i lḥakem Filiks :
25He wrote a letter like this:
26« Nekk Kludyus Lizyas i lḥakem ameqqran Filiks, sslam fell-ak !
26“Claudius Lysias to the most excellent governor Felix: Greetings.
27At Isṛail ṭṭfen argaz-agi teddun a t-nɣen, mi wwḍeɣ nekk d lɛeskeṛ-iw, sellkeɣ-t-id si ger ifassen-nsen. Imi sliɣ laṣel-is d aṛumani,
27“This man was seized by the Jews, and was about to be killed by them, when I came with the soldiers and rescued him, having learned that he was a Roman.
28bɣiɣ ad ẓreɣ sebba ɣef wacu ccetkan fell-as ; wwiɣ-t ɣer zdat unejmaɛ nsen.
28Desiring to know the cause why they accused him, I brought him down to their council.
29Ufiɣ belli sebba ɣef wacu i ccetkan fell-as, d ayen yeɛnan ccariɛa-nsen, lameɛna ur ixdim acemma yuklalen lmut neɣ lḥebs.
29I found him to be accused about questions of their law, but not to be charged with anything worthy of death or of imprisonment.
30Mi sliɣ ḥeyylen-as wat Isṛail, ceggɛeɣ-t-in ɣuṛ-ek. Ma d ixṣimen-is nniɣ-asen a n-ṛuḥen ɣuṛ-ek ad ccetkin fell-as. Sǧiɣ-k di lehna !
30When I was told that the Jews lay in wait for the man, I sent him to you immediately, charging his accusers also to bring their accusations against him before you. Farewell.”
31Akken i ten-d-yewweḍ lameṛ, iɛeskṛiwen wwin Bulus deg yiḍ ɣer temdint n Antibatris.
31So the soldiers, carrying out their orders, took Paul and brought him by night to Antipatris.
32Azekka-nni uɣalen ɣer lbeṛj, ǧǧan imnayen ad kemmlen abrid yid-es.
32But on the next day they left the horsemen to go with him, and returned to the barracks.
33Mi wwḍen ɣer temdint n Qiṣarya, wwin Bulus ɣer lḥakem Filiks, rnan fkan-as tabṛaț-nni.
33When they came to Caesarea and delivered the letter to the governor, they also presented Paul to him.
34Lḥakem yeɣṛa tabṛaț-nni, isteqsa anta i ț-țamurt n Bulus. Mi gesla si tmurt n Silisya i gella,
34When the governor had read it, he asked what province he was from. When he understood that he was from Cilicia, he said,
35yenna-yas : M'ara d-awḍen yexṣimen iccetkan fell-ak, a k-sleɣ . Dɣa yumeṛ a t-ɛassen di lbeṛj n Hiṛudus. At Isṛail cccetkan ɣef Bulus
35“I will hear you fully when your accusers also arrive.” He commanded that he be kept in Herod’s palace.
