¹Let every soul be in subjection to the higher authorities, for there is no authority except from God, and those who exist are ordained by God.

¹Mkul amdan, ilaq ad iqadeṛ imdebbṛen i gḥekkmen tamurt i deg yețɛici, axaṭer d Sidi Ṛebbi i d-iǧǧan lḥekma di ddunit, d nețța daɣen i gebɣan aț-țuɣal lḥekma-agi ɣer yifassen n yemdanen.

²Therefore he who resists the authority, withstands the ordinance of God; and those who withstand will receive to themselves judgment.

²S wakka ihi, win ara ixalfen lḥekma i gesbedd Sidi Ṛebbi, d lameṛ n Sidi Ṛebbi i gɛuṣa, d lɛiqab kan ara d-isseɣli ɣef yiman-is.

³For rulers are not a terror to the good work, but to the evil. Do you desire to have no fear of the authority? Do that which is good, and you will have praise from the same,

³Mačči d wid ixeddmen lxiṛ ara yaggaden imdebbṛen n lḥukuma meɛna d wid ixeddmen cceṛ. M'ur tebɣiḍ ara aț-țaggaḍeḍ lḥukuma, xdem ayen yelhan, a k-fken lehna.

⁴for he is a servant of God to you for good. But if you do that which is evil, be afraid, for he doesn’t bear the sword in vain; for he is a servant of God, an avenger for wrath to him who does evil.

⁴Axaṭer Sidi Ṛebbi yefka-d lḥukuma i nnfeɛ-inek, meɛna ma txedmeḍ cceṛ, ɣas aggad-iț axaṭer Sidi Ṛebbi yefka i lḥukkam tazmert s wayes ara k-ɛaqben s lmut. Lḥukkam agi qeddcen ɣef Sidi Ṛebbi iwakken a d-sbanen urrif-is m'ara ɛaqben wid ixeddmen cceṛ.

⁵Therefore you need to be in subjection, not only because of the wrath, but also for conscience’ sake.

⁵?ef wayagi, ilaq-aɣ a nḍuɛ imdebbṛen n lḥukuma, mačči ɣef ddemma n lɛiqab kan meɛna i lmend n lxaṭer-nneɣ.

⁶For this reason you also pay taxes, for they are servants of God’s service, attending continually on this very thing.

⁶Daymi daɣen i glaq aț-țxelṣem tabzert i lḥukuma, axaṭer wid ițdebbiṛen deg wannect-agi, xeddmen ccɣel-nsen akken i t-id yenna Sidi Ṛebbi.

⁷Give therefore to everyone what you owe: taxes to whom taxes are due; customs to whom customs; respect to whom respect; honor to whom honor.

⁷Rret i mkul yiwen ayen i wen-ițțalas : xellṣet tabzert i kra win i wen-ițțalasen, aggadet win i glaq a t-taggadem, qadṛet win i glaq a t-tqadṛem.

⁸Owe no one anything, except to love one another; for he who loves his neighbor has fulfilled the law.

⁸?uṛ-wat a wen-ițalas yiwen lḥaǧa anagar leḥmala n wway gar-awen, axaṭer win iḥemmlen wiyaḍ, ixdem ayen akk i d-tenna ccariɛa.

⁹For the commandments, “You shall not commit adultery,” “You shall not murder,” “You shall not steal,” “You shall not give false testimony,” “You shall not covet,” TR adds “You shall not give false testimony,” Exodus 20:13-15,17; Deuteronomy 5:17-19,21 and whatever other commandments there are, are all summed up in this saying, namely, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” Leviticus 19:18

⁹Axaṭer lumuṛat n ccariɛa i d yeqqaṛen : Ur txeddmeḍ ara lɛaṛ, ur tneqqeḍ ara, ur tețțakreḍ ara, ur teṭṭamaɛeḍ ara , akk-d lumuṛ nniḍen meṛṛa nnejmaɛen deg yiwen n lameṛ-agi : Ilaq aț-țḥemleḍ wiyaḍ am yiman-ik .

¹⁰Love doesn’t harm a neighbor. Love therefore is the fulfillment of the law.

¹⁰Win yesɛan leḥmala deg wul-is ur ițḍuṛṛu ara wiyaḍ, ihi win iḥemmlen wiyaḍ, yexdem ayen akk i d-tenna ccariɛa.

¹¹Do this, knowing the time, that it is already time for you to awaken out of sleep, for salvation is now nearer to us than when we first believed.

¹¹Imi teẓram d acu n lweqt i deg nella, tura yewweḍ-ed lawan i deg ara d-akim si nuddam axaṭer ass n leslak iqeṛṛeb-ed ɣuṛ-nneɣ akteṛ n wass amezwaru i deg numen.

¹²The night is far gone, and the day is near. Let’s therefore throw off the works of darkness, and let’s put on the armor of light.

¹²Qṛib ad yekfu yiḍ, ițeddu ad yali wass, a ndeggeṛ akkin ɣef yiman-nneɣ lexdayem n ṭṭlam, a nerfed leslaḥ s wayes ara neddu di tafat.

¹³Let us walk properly, as in the day; not in reveling and drunkenness, not in sexual promiscuity and lustful acts, and not in strife and jealousy.

¹³A nelḥu ɛinani s tezdeg akk-d ṣṣfa, di tafat n wass ; xḍut i ssikṛan d ccehwat, i leɛdez d lexdayem icemten, i čaqlalat ț-țismin.

¹⁴But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, for its lusts.

¹⁴Meɛna elset tudert tajḍiṭ i gellan di Sidna Ɛisa Lmasiḥ, ur țțaǧat ara iman-nwen a kkun-yawi ṭṭmeɛ n lebɣi n tnefsit-nwen.
