1Behold, there came a man of God out of Judah by the word of Yahweh to Beth El: and Jeroboam was standing by the altar to burn incense.
1Nak laj Jeroboam yô chixcßatbal lix incienso saß li artal li quixyîb aran Bet-el, jun li profeta quichal chak Judá taklanbil xban li Dios.
2He cried against the altar by the word of Yahweh, and said, “Altar, altar, thus says Yahweh: ‘Behold, a son shall be born to the house of David, Josiah by name. On you he shall sacrifice the priests of the high places who burn incense on you, and they will burn men’s bones on you.’”
2Li profeta quiâtinac chi cau xyâb xcux ut quixye cßaßru tixcßul li artal joß quiyeheß re xban li Kâcuaß. Quixye: —At artal, joßcaßin xye li Kâcuaß Dios: Saß xyânkeb li ralal xcßajol li rey David tâyoßlâk jun li cßulaßal aj Josías xcßabaß. Ut aßan tâcamsînk reheb laj tij li nequeßcßatoc incienso saß âbên re xlokßoninquil li jalanil dios. Ut saß âbên tixcßateb aßan, chan li profeta.
3He gave a sign the same day, saying, “This is the sign which Yahweh has spoken: Behold, the altar will be split apart, and the ashes that are on it will be poured out.”
3Ut saß ajcuiß li cutan aßan li profeta quixqßue jun li retalil ut quixye: —Aßan aßin li retalil nak li Kâcuaß, aßan li xyehoc re aßin. Li artal aßin tâjorekß ut lix chahil li cuan chi saß tâpajekß, chan.
4It happened, when the king heard the saying of the man of God, which he cried against the altar in Bethel, that Jeroboam put out his hand from the altar, saying, “Seize him!” His hand, which he put out against him, dried up, so that he could not draw it back again to himself.
4Nak li rey quirabi li cßaßru quixye lix profeta li Dios chirix li artal li cuan Bet-el, quichal xjoskßil. Quixcßut li profeta riqßuin li rukß ut quixye: —¡Chapomak li cuînk aßan! chan. Ut li rukß quicana chi telto. Incßaß chic quiru quirecßasi saß xnaßaj.
5The altar also was split apart, and the ashes poured out from the altar, according to the sign which the man of God had given by the word of Yahweh.
5Saß ajcuiß li hônal aßan li artal quijacheß ut li cha cuan saß xbên quipajeß joß quiyeheß re li profeta xban li Dios.
6The king answered the man of God, “Now entreat the favor of Yahweh your God, and pray for me, that my hand may be restored me again.” The man of God entreated Yahweh, and the king’s hand was restored him again, and became as it was before.
6Li rey Jeroboam quixye re lix profeta li Dios: —Nintzßâma châcuu nak tattijok chiru li Kâcuaß lâ Dios ut tâtzßâma chiru nak tixqßuirtesi li cuukß, chan. Ut lix profeta li Dios quitijoc chiru li Kâcuaß ut li rukß li rey quiqßuira ut quicana joß nak quicuan junxil.
7The king said to the man of God, “Come home with me, and refresh yourself, and I will give you a reward.”
7Li rey quixye re lix profeta li Dios: —Yoßo chicuix saß cuochoch. Tatcuaßak cuiqßuin ut tinqßue junak âmâtan, chan.
8The man of God said to the king, “Even if you gave me half of your house, I would not go in with you, neither would I eat bread nor drink water in this place;
8Ut lix profeta li Dios quixye re li rey: —Usta tâqßue cue yi jachak li cßaßru âcue, lâin incßaß tinxic âcuiqßuin, chi moco tincuaßak chi moco tin-ucßak haß saß li naßajej aßin,
9for so was it commanded me by the word of Yahweh, saying, ‘You shall eat no bread, nor drink water, neither return by the way that you came.’”
9xban nak joßcan taklanbilin cuiß xban li Kâcuaß. Aßan quixye cue nak incßaß tincuaßak, chi moco tin-ucßak, chi moco tinsukßîk saß li be li xinchal cuiß, chan li profeta.
10So he went another way, and didn’t return by the way that he came to Bethel.
10Joßcan nak li profeta quisukßi saß jalan chic be. Incßaß cô saß li be li quinumeß cuiß nak cô Bet-el.
11Now there lived an old prophet in Bethel; and one of his sons came and told him all the works that the man of God had done that day in Bethel. They also told their father the words which he had spoken to the king.

12Their father said to them, “Which way did he go?” Now his sons had seen which way the man of God went, who came from Judah.
12Ut lix yucuaßeb quixye reheb: —¿Cßaßru behil xcô cuiß? chan. Ut eb li ralal queßxcßut chiru li be li quisukßi cuiß lix profeta li Dios li quichal chak Judá.
13He said to his sons, “Saddle the donkey for me.” So they saddled the donkey for him; and he rode on it.
13Li yucuaßbej quixye reheb li ralal: —Yîbomak rix li bûr, chan reheb. Ut eb aßan queßxyîb rix li bûr ut lix yucuaßeb quitakeß chirix li bûr.
14He went after the man of God, and found him sitting under an oak. He said to him, “Are you the man of God who came from Judah?” He said, “I am.”
14Ut cô chirix lix profeta li Dios. Coxixtau saß be chunchu rubel jun tôn li ji ut quixye re: —¿Ma lâat lix profeta li Dios li xatchal chak Judá? chan. Ut li profeta quixye: —Lâin, chan.
15Then he said to him, “Come home with me, and eat bread.”
15Aßan quixye re: —Yoßo saß cuochoch ut tatcuaßak cuiqßuin, chan.
16He said, “I may not return with you, nor go in with you; neither will I eat bread nor drink water with you in this place.
16Lix profeta li Dios quixye re: —Incßaß naru ninxic châcuix, chi moco naru tincuaßak tin-ucßak âcuiqßuin,
17For it was said to me by the word of Yahweh, ‘You shall eat no bread nor drink water there, nor turn again to go by the way that you came.’”
17xban nak li Kâcuaß quixye cue nak incßaß tincuaßak, chi moco tin-ucßak saß li naßajej aßin, chi moco tinsukßîk saß li be li xinchal cuiß, chan.
18He said to him, “I also am a prophet as you are; and an angel spoke to me by the word of Yahweh, saying, ‘Bring him back with you into your house, that he may eat bread and drink water.’” He lied to him.

19So he went back with him, and ate bread in his house, and drank water.

20It happened, as they sat at the table, that the word of Yahweh came to the prophet who brought him back;
20Ut nak chunchûqueb saß li mêx li Kâcuaß quiâtinac riqßuin li profeta li quisukßisin re lix profeta li Dios li quichal Judá.
21and he cried to the man of God who came from Judah, saying, “Thus says Yahweh, ‘Because you have been disobedient to the mouth of Yahweh, and have not kept the commandment which Yahweh your God commanded you,
21Quirâtina chi cau ut quixye re: —Li Kâcuaß Dios xye nak xakßet li cßaßru quixye âcue ut incßaß xabânu chixjunil li cßaßru xatxtakla cuiß li Kâcuaß Dios.
22but came back, and have eaten bread and drunk water in the place of which he said to you, “Eat no bread, and drink no water”; your body shall not come to the tomb of your fathers.’”
22Lâat xatsukßi ut xatcuaßac xat-ucßac saß li naßajej li quixye âcue nak incßaß tatcuaßak tat-ucßak. Xban nak xabânu aßan, tatcamsîk ut incßaß tatmukekß saß li muklebâl li queßmukeß cuiß lâ xeßtônil yucuaß, chan.
23It happened, after he had eaten bread, and after he had drunk, that he saddled the donkey for the prophet whom he had brought back.
23Ut nak queßrakeß chi cuaßac chi ucßac, li profeta li quisukßisin re quixyîb rix lix bûr re tâxic ut lix profeta li Dios cô.
24When he had gone, a lion met him by the way, and killed him. His body was cast in the way, and the donkey stood by it. The lion also stood by the body.
24Nak yô chi xic quixcßul jun li cakcoj saß li be ut quicamsîc xban. Ut lix tibel quicana chi tßantßo saß li be. Ut li bûr ut li cakcoj cuanqueb chixcßatk li camenak.
25Behold, men passed by, and saw the body cast in the way, and the lion standing by the body; and they came and told it in the city where the old prophet lived.
25Cuanqueb cuib oxib li cuînk queßnumeß aran ut queßril li camenak tßantßo aran. Ut li cakcoj cuan chixcßatk li camenak. Eb li cuînk queßcuulac saß li tenamit Bet-el cuan cuiß li profeta ut queßxye resil li cßaßru queßril.
26When the prophet who brought him back from the way heard of it, he said, “It is the man of God who was disobedient to the mouth of Yahweh. Therefore Yahweh has delivered him to the lion, which has mauled him and slain him, according to the word of Yahweh, which he spoke to him.”
26Nak quirabi li profeta li cuan Bet-el li cßaßru quixcßul li profeta li quicuaßac rochben saß rochoch, quixye: —Aßan li profeta li xkßet râtin li Dios. Li Kâcuaß xkßaxtesin re li cakcoj. Li cakcoj quixchap ut quixcamsi joß quiyeheß re xban li Kâcuaß, chan.
27He spoke to his sons, saying, “Saddle the donkey for me.” They saddled it.
27Li profeta quixye reheb li ralal: —Yîbomak rix li bûr, chan. Ut eb li ralal queßxyîb rix li bûr.
28He went and found his body cast in the way, and the donkey and the lion standing by the body. The lion had not eaten the body, nor mauled the donkey.
28Cô ut li profeta ut coxtau li camenak tßantßo saß be rochben lix bûr. Ut li cakcoj cuan chixcßatk. Li cakcoj incßaß quixtiu lix tibel li camenak chi moco quixchßeß li bûr.
29The prophet took up the body of the man of God, and laid it on the donkey, and brought it back. He came to the city of the old prophet to mourn, and to bury him.
29Li profeta quixxoc li camenak ut quixqßue chirix li bûr ut quixcßam saß lix tenamit re nak teßxyoßle ut teßxmuk.
30He laid his body in his own grave; and they mourned over him, saying, “Alas, my brother!”
30Quixmuk li camenak saß lix muklebâl aßan ut queßyâbac chirix ut queßxye: —Tokßob xak âcuu, at cuech aj cßanjelil. Xat-osoß, chanqueb.
31It happened, after he had buried him, that he spoke to his sons, saying, “When I am dead, then bury me in the tomb in which the man of God is buried. Lay my bones beside his bones.
31Ut nak ac xeßxmuk li camenak, li profeta quixye reheb li ralal: —Nak tincâmk lâin, chinêmuk saß li muklebâl li x-oc cuiß lix profeta li Dios. Saß li muklebâl li x-oc cuiß aßan tincuaj nak tâmukekß lin tibel, chan.
32For the saying which he cried by the word of Yahweh against the altar in Bethel, and against all the houses of the high places which are in the cities of Samaria, will surely happen.”
32Li profeta quixye li cßaßru quiyeheß re xban li Dios. Chßolchßo nak tâcßulmânk li cßaßru quixye chirix li artal li cuan arin Bet-el ut chirixeb li naßajej re lokßonînc li najt xteram li yîbanbil aran Samaria, chan.
33After this thing Jeroboam didn’t return from his evil way, but again made priests of the high places from among all the people. Whoever wanted to, he consecrated him, that there might be priests of the high places.
33Usta ac xqßue retal chixjunil li cßaßru quicßulman li rey Jeroboam, incßaß quixcanab xbânunquil li incßaß us. Quixxakabeb ban chic saß xyânkeb li tenamit aj tij re teßcßanjelak saß eb li naßajej li najt xteram li nequeßxlokßoni cuiß li jalanil dios. Li ani naraj aßan naxxakab chokß aj tij.Aßan aßin li mâc li quixbânu laj Jeroboam. Joßcan nak qui-isîc chokß rey chi junaj cua ut queßcam chixjunileb li ralal xcßajol.
34This thing became sin to the house of Jeroboam, even to cut it off, and to destroy it from off the surface of the earth.
