1Elijah the Tishbite, who was of the foreigners of Gilead, said to Ahab, “As Yahweh, the God of Israel, lives, before whom I stand, there shall not be dew nor rain these years, but according to my word.”

2The word of Yahweh came to him, saying,
2Joßcan nak li Kâcuaß quixye re laj Elías:
3“Go away from here, turn eastward, and hide yourself by the brook Cherith, that is before the Jordan.
3—Tat-êlk saß li naßajej aßin. Tatxic saß li este, li na-el cuiß li sakße ut tâmuk âcuib nachß riqßuin li haß Querit li cuan jun pacßal li nimaß Jordán.
4It shall be, that you shall drink of the brook. I have commanded the ravens to feed you there.”
4Lâin tintakla li tzßok chixqßuebal lâ cua nak cuânkat aran. Ut saß li rok haß tat-ucßak, chan li Dios.
5So he went and did according to the word of Yahweh; for he went and lived by the brook Cherith, that is before the Jordan.
5Ut laj Elías quixbânu li cßaßru quiyeheß re xban li Kâcuaß. Cô chi cuânc aran cuan cuiß li rok haß Querit, li cuan jun pacßal li nimaß Jordán.
6The ravens brought him bread and flesh in the morning, and bread and flesh in the evening; and he drank of the brook.
6Ut eb li tzßok nequeßxcßam lix cua ut lix tib rajlal ekßela ut rajlal ecuu. Ut laj Elías quirucß li haß li cuan saß li rok haß Querit.
7It happened after a while, that the brook dried up, because there was no rain in the land.
7Abanan mokon chic li rok haß quichakic xban nak incßaß chic quixqßue li hab.
8The word of Yahweh came to him, saying,
8Ut li Kâcuaß quixye re laj Elías:
9“Arise, go to Zarephath, which belongs to Sidon, and stay there. Behold, I have commanded a widow there to sustain you.”
9—Tat-êlk saß li naßajej aßin ut tatxic saß li tenamit Sarepta li cuan saß xcuênt Sidón ut aran tatcuânk. Saß li naßajej aßan cuan jun li xmâlcaßan. Ac xinye re nak aßan tâchßolanînk âcue, chan li Dios.
10So he arose and went to Zarephath; and when he came to the gate of the city, behold, a widow was there gathering sticks: and he called to her, and said, “Please get me a little water in a vessel, that I may drink.”
10Joßcan nak laj Elías qui-el saß li naßajej aßan ut cô saß li tenamit Sarepta. Nak quicuulac saß li oquebâl re li tenamit, quiril jun li xmâlcaßan yô chixxocbal xsiß. Quixbok li ixk ut quixye re: —Bânu usilal, cßam chak bayak inhaß re tincuucß, chan re.
11As she was going to get it, he called to her, and said, “Please bring me a morsel of bread in your hand.”
11Ac yô chi xic li ixk nak laj Elías quixbok cuißchic ut quixye re: —Tâbânu usilal, tâcßam ajcuiß chak caßchßinak incaxlan cua, chan re.
12She said, “As Yahweh your God lives, I don’t have a cake, but a handful of meal in the jar, and a little oil in the jar. Behold, I am gathering two sticks, that I may go in and bake it for me and my son, that we may eat it, and die.”
12Li ixk quichakßoc ut quixye re laj Elías: —Mâcßaß caxlan cua cuiqßuin ac yîbanbil. Li Kâcuaß lâ Dios naxnau nak yâl li yôquin chixyebal. Caßchßin ajcuiß li cßaj cuan saß jun li ucßal ut caßchßin ajcuiß li aceite cuan saß lin chßina cuc. Ut anakcuan xinchal xxocbal coßxibak insiß re nak tinyîb li caxlan cua chokß re lin yum ut chokß cue ajcuiß lâin. Nak takachoy aßan, mâre tocâmk xban katzßocajic xban nak mâcßaß chic cuan ke, chan.
13Elijah said to her, “Don’t be afraid. Go and do as you have said; but make me of it a little cake first, and bring it out to me, and afterward make some for you and for your son.
13Laj Elías quixye re: —Matcßoxlac. Ayu saß lâ cuochoch. Bânu joß xaye. Abanan xbên cua tâyîb jun chßina caxlan cua ut tâcßam chak chokß cue. Chirix aßan tâyîb re lâ yum ut lâ cue lâat.
14For thus says Yahweh, the God of Israel, ‘The jar of meal shall not empty, neither shall the jar of oil fail, until the day that Yahweh sends rain on the earth.’”
14Bânu chi joßcan xban nak joßcaßin quixye li Kâcuaß Dios li nakalokßoni lâo aj Israel: Incßaß tâlajk li cßaj li cuan saß li ucßal chi moco tâosokß li aceite li cuan saß cuc toj tixqßue chak li hab saß ruchichßochß li Kâcuaß, chan laj Elías.
15She went and did according to the saying of Elijah: and she, and he, and her house, ate many days.
15Li ixk quixbânu joß quiyeheß re xban laj Elías. Ut quicuan xtzacaêmkeb laj Elías, li ixk ut lix yum re nabal cutan.
16The jar of meal didn’t empty, neither did the jar of oil fail, according to the word of Yahweh, which he spoke by Elijah.
16Ut quicßulman joß quixye li Kâcuaß re laj Elías. Li cßaj li cuan saß li ucßal incßaß qui-osoß chi moco li aceite li cuan saß li chßina cuc.
17It happened after these things, that the son of the woman, the mistress of the house, fell sick; and his sickness was so severe, that there was no breath left in him.

18She said to Elijah, “What have I to do with you, you man of God? You have come to me to bring my sin to memory, and to kill my son!”
18Li naßbej quixye re laj Elías: —¿Cßaßru inmâc châcuu, at xprofeta li Dios? ¿Ma xatchal cuiqßuin chixjulticanquil lin mâc ut chixcamsinquil lin chßina yum? chan.
19He said to her, “Give me your son.” He took him out of her bosom, and carried him up into the room where he stayed, and laid him on his own bed.
19Laj Elías quixye re: —Qßue cue lâ chßina yum, chan. Quixcßul li chßina al chiru ut quixcßam takekß saß xcaß tasalil li cab cuan cuiß lix cuaribâl ut quixyocob chiru lix cuarib.
20He cried to Yahweh, and said, “Yahweh my God, have you also brought evil on the widow with whom I stay, by killing her son?”
20Quitijoc chiru li Kâcuaß ut quixye re: —At Kâcuaß, at inDios, ¿cßaßut nak xaqßue li raylal saß xbên li xmâlcaßan aßin li yô chi qßuehoc innaßaj saß rochoch? ¿Cßaßut nak xaqßue chi câmc lix chßina yum? chan.
21He stretched himself on the child three times, and cried to Yahweh, and said, “Yahweh my God, please let this child’s soul come into him again.”
21Quixhupub rib saß xbên li chßina al oxib sut ut quixyâba xcßabaß li Kâcuaß. Quixye re: —At Kâcuaß, at inDios, chaqßue ta cuißchic lix yußam li chßina al aßin, chan.
22Yahweh listened to the voice of Elijah; and the soul of the child came into him again, and he revived.
22Li Kâcuaß quirabi lix tij li profeta Elías ut quixqßue cuißchic lix yußam ut quiyoßla cuißchic.
23Elijah took the child, and brought him down out of the room into the house, and delivered him to his mother; and Elijah said, “Behold, your son lives.”
23Laj Elías quixkßalu cuißchic li chßina al ut quixcßam cuißchic takßa saß li naßajej li cuan cuiß lix naß. Quixkßaxtesi re li naßbej ut quixye re: —Cueß lâ chßina yum yoßyo chic, chan.Ut li xmâlcaßan quixye re: —Riqßuin aßin ninqßue retal nak lâat xprofeta li Dios ut chixjunil li nacaye, aßan yâl xban nak li Kâcuaß naxcßut châcuu, chan.
24The woman said to Elijah, “Now I know that you are a man of God, and that the word of Yahweh in your mouth is truth.”
24Ut li xmâlcaßan quixye re: —Riqßuin aßin ninqßue retal nak lâat xprofeta li Dios ut chixjunil li nacaye, aßan yâl xban nak li Kâcuaß naxcßut châcuu, chan.
