1For you yourselves know, brothers, our visit to you wasn’t in vain,
1Ex inhermân, lâex ac nequenau nak moco xcana ta chi mâc'a' rajbal nak xocuulac êriq'uin.
2but having suffered before and been shamefully treated, as you know, at Philippi, we grew bold in our God to tell you the Good News of God in much conflict.
2Usta ac xkac'ul li rahobtesîc ut usta ac xohobe' aran Filipos, abanan li Dios xq'uehoc xcacuil kach'ôl chixyebal resil li colba-ib êre lâex. Inc'a' xoxucuac usta cuanqueb li k'axal xic' neque'iloc ke.
3For our exhortation is not of error, nor of uncleanness, nor in deception.
3Moco yôco ta chixbalak'inquil kib. Tz'akal yâl ban li yôco xyebal êre. Moco cuan ta junak kac'a'ux inc'a' us sa' êbên, chi moco yôco ta chêbalak'inquil.
4But even as we have been approved by God to be entrusted with the Good News, so we speak; not as pleasing men, but God, who tests our hearts.
4Nakach'olob ban xyâlal jo' naraj li Dios xban nak a'an c'ojc'o xch'ôl sa' kabên ut a'an quixakaban ke re xyebal resil li evangelio. Inc'a' nakabânu jo' neque'cuulac chiru li cristian. Nakabânu ban jo' nacuulac chiru li Dios li nana'oc re chanru li kac'a'ux.
5For neither were we at any time found using words of flattery, as you know, nor a cloak of covetousness (God is witness),
5Lâex nequenau nak mâ jun cua xoâtinac êriq'uin yal re êk'unbesinquil. Li Dios naxnau nak lâo inc'a' xoâtinac êriq'uin yal xban nak cuan li c'a'ru nakaj.
6nor seeking glory from men (neither from you nor from others), when we might have claimed authority as apostles of Christ.
6Chi moco xkasic' ta kalok'al riq'uineb li cristian, chi moco êriq'uin chi moco riq'uineb jalan, usta xru raj xkaye êre nak têq'ue kalok'al xban nak lâo x-apóstol li Jesucristo.
7But we were gentle among you, like a nursing mother cherishes her own children.
7Sa' tûlanil ban xocuan sa' êyânk jo' junak na'bej naxq'uiresiheb sa' tûlanil lix coc'al.
8Even so, affectionately longing for you, we were well pleased to impart to you, not the Good News of God only, but also our own souls, because you had become very dear to us.
8K'axal nequexkara. Mâcua' raj ca'aj cui' xyebal resil li colba-ib li naxq'ue li Dios li xkabânu. Xru aj raj cui' xkak'axtesi li kayu'am sa' êc'aba' lâex xban nak k'axal nequexkara.
9For you remember, brothers, our labor and travail; for working night and day, that we might not burden any of you, we preached to you the Good News of God.
9Lâex hermân, ac nequenau chanru nak xoc'anjelac chi k'ek chi cutan re nak inc'a' texkach'i'ch'i'i riq'uin li c'a'ru ke ut re nak xru xkaye êre resil li colba-ib li naxq'ue li Dios.
10You are witnesses with God, how holy, righteously, and blamelessly we behaved ourselves toward you who believe.
10Lâex nequenau chi tz'akal, ut naxnau ajcui' li Dios, chanru nak cocuan sa' santilal ut sa' tîquilal sa' êyânk. Mâc'a' c'a'ru cok'use' cui' nak cocuan sa' êyânk lâex aj pâbanel.
11As you know, we exhorted, comforted, and implored every one of you, as a father does his own children,
11Jo' naxbânu junak li yucua'bej riq'uineb li ralal xc'ajol, jo'can ajcui' xkabânu lâo êriq'uin nak xkaq'ue êna'leb chêjunjûnkalex.
12to the end that you should walk worthily of God, who calls you into his own Kingdom and glory.
12Xkaq'ue xcacuilal êch'ôl ut xkatz'âma ajcui' chêru nak texcuânk sa' xyâlal jo' xc'ulubeb li ralal xc'ajol li Dios li quisic'oc êru re nak textz'akônk ajcui' lâex riq'uin lix nimajcual cuanquilal ut lix lok'al.
13For this cause we also thank God without ceasing, that, when you received from us the word of the message of God, you accepted it not as the word of men, but, as it is in truth, the word of God, which also works in you who believe.
13Junelic nakabantioxi chiru li Dios nak quepâb li râtin li Dios li xkach'olob chêru. Moco râtin cuînk ta quepâb. Râtin li Dios ban quepâb. Ut yâl ajcui' nak a'an râtin li Dios. Ut a'an li yô chi jaloc re lê yu'am lâex aj pâbanel.
14For you, brothers, became imitators of the assemblies of God which are in Judea in Christ Jesus; for you also suffered the same things from your own countrymen, even as they did from the Jews;
14Ut lâex hermân xec'ul ajcui' li raylal jo' que'xc'ul li ralal xc'ajol li Dios li neque'pâban sa' xc'aba' li Jesucristo li cuanqueb Judea. Xexrahobtesîc xban lê rech tenamitil jo' que'xc'ul eb a'an xbaneb laj judío, li rech tenamitil.
15who killed both the Lord Jesus and their own prophets, and drove us out, and didn’t please God, and are contrary to all men;
16forbidding us to speak to the Gentiles that they may be saved; to fill up their sins always. But wrath has come on them to the uttermost.
16Xic' neque'rec'a nak nakach'olob xyâlal chiruheb li mâcua'eb aj judío re nak te'colek'. Ut riq'uin li mâusilal neque'xbânu rajlal, k'axal cui'chic nanumta lix mâqueb. Abanan yal jun nak quichal xjosk'il li Dios sa' xbêneb.
17But we, brothers, being bereaved of you for a short season, in presence, not in heart, tried even harder to see your face with great desire,
17Ex hermân, usta mâ aniho sa' êyânk, abanan junelic nequexkac'oxla. Toje' ajcui' xo-el êriq'uin nak ac takaj cui'chic rilbal êru.
18because we wanted to come to you—indeed, I, Paul, once and again—but Satan hindered us.
18Xkaj raj xic êriq'uin. Lâin laj Pablo. Cuib oxib sut xinyal xic chêrilbal. Abanan laj tza quiramoc chiku. Jo'can nak inc'a' côo.
19For what is our hope, or joy, or crown of rejoicing? Isn’t it even you, before our Lord Jesus TR adds “Christ” at his coming?
19¿C'a'ru nakoybeni ut c'a'ru lix saylal li kach'ôl? ¿Ut c'a'ru li tok'ajcâmûk cui' nak tol-êlk cui'chic li Kâcua' Jesucristo? ¿Ma inc'a' ta bi' sa' êc'aba' lâex takac'ul li kak'ajcâmunquil?Lâex li kalok'al ut lix saylal li kach'ôl.
20For you are our glory and our joy.
20Lâex li kalok'al ut lix saylal li kach'ôl.
