Ezra

5

1Now the prophets, Haggai the prophet, and Zechariah the son of Iddo, prophesied to the Jews who were in Judah and Jerusalem; in the name of the God of Israel they prophesied to them.
1Li profeta Hageo ut li profeta Zacarías li ralal laj Iddo queßxye reheb laj judío li cuanqueb Judá joßqueb ajcuiß li cuanqueb Jerusalén li cßaßru quiyeheß reheb xban li Kâcuaß, lix Dioseb laj Israel li natenkßan reheb.
2Then rose up Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and Jeshua the son of Jozadak, and began to build God’s house which is at Jerusalem; and with them were the prophets of God, helping them.
2Ut laj Zorobabel li ralal laj Salatiel rochben laj Jesúa li ralal laj Josadac, queßoc cuißchic chixyîbanquil lix templo li Kâcuaß aran Jerusalén. Ut eb lix profeta li Kâcuaß Dios cuanqueb rochbeneb ut yôqueb chixtenkßanquileb.
3At the same time came to them Tattenai, the governor beyond the River, and Shetharbozenai, and their companions, and said thus to them, “Who gave you a decree to build this house, and to finish this wall?”
3Saß eb li cutan aßan laj Tatnai li nataklan saß li tenamit li cuan jun pacßal li nimaß Eufrates quicuulac riqßuineb. Queßcuulac ajcuiß riqßuineb laj Setar-boznai joßqueb ajcuiß li rochben. Ut queßxye reheb: —¿Ani xqßuehoc êlesêns nak xex-oc cuißchic chixyîbanquil li cab aßin ut li tzßac? chanqueb.
4Then we told them in this way, what the names of the men were who were making this building.
4Ut queßxpatzß ajcuiß: —¿Ani xcßabaßeb li yôqueb chi yîbânc re?—
5But the eye of their God was on the elders of the Jews, and they did not make them cease, until the matter should come to Darius, and then answer should be returned by letter concerning it.
5Abanan li Kâcuaß Dios yô chi iloc reheb li yôqueb chi cßamoc be chiruheb laj judío ut incßaß quixakabâc li cßanjel. Quitaklâc jun li hu riqßuin li rey Darío re nak tixsume chak ut tixye reheb ma teßxcanab li cßanjel malaj ut incßaß.
6The copy of the letter that Tattenai, the governor beyond the River, and Shetharbozenai, and his companions the Apharsachites, who were beyond the River, sent to Darius the king;
6Joßcaßin naxye li hu li queßxtakla riqßuin li rey Darío laj Tatnai ut laj Setar-boznai rochbeneb li nequeßtaklan saß li naßajej li cuan jun pacßal li nimaß Eufrates saß li oeste li na-oc cuiß li sakße.
7they sent a letter to him, in which was written thus: To Darius the king, all peace.
7Aßan aßin li tzßîbanbil saß li hu: —At rey Darío, nakatakla xsahil âchßôl.
8Be it known to the king, that we went into the province of Judah, to the house of the great God, which is built with great stones, and timber is laid in the walls; and this work goes on with diligence and prospers in their hands.
8Nakaj xyebal âcue nak xocuulac saß li naßajej Judá chirilbal lix templo li nimajcual Dios li yôqueb chixyîbanquil. Yôqueb chixyîbanquil li templo riqßuin nînki pec. Li cheß ac qßuebil saß xnaßaj saß li tzßac. Yôqueb chixsêbanquil ribeb ut li cßanjel us yô chi êlc chiruheb.
9Then we asked those elders, and said to them thus, “Who gave you a decree to build this house, and to finish this wall?”
9Xkapatzß reheb laj cßamol be li yôqueb chi jolomînc re li cßanjel ani xqßuehoc xlesênseb chixyîbanquil li cab ut li tzßac.
10We asked them their names also, to inform you that we might write the names of the men who were at their head.
10Xkapatzß ajcuiß ani xcßabaßeb re nak totzßîbak âcuiqßuin, at rey, ut takaye âcue aniheb li yôqueb chi jolomînc re li cßanjel.
11Thus they returned us answer, saying, “We are the servants of the God of heaven and earth, and are building the house that was built these many years ago, which a great king of Israel built and finished.
11Eb aßan queßxye ke chi joßcaßin, “Lâo aj cßanjel chiru li Dios li kßaxal nim xcuanquil joß saß choxa joß saß ruchichßochß. Yôco cuißchic chixyîbanquil li templo li quixakabâc najter xban jun lix nimal ru rey li quicuan Israel.”
12But after that our fathers had provoked the God of heaven to wrath, he gave them into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, the Chaldean, who destroyed this house, and carried the people away into Babylon.
12Ut queßxye ajcuiß, “Eb li kaxeßtônil yucuaß queßxchikß xjoskßil li Dios li cuan saß choxa. Joßcan nak li Dios quixkßaxtesiheb saß rukß laj Nabucodonosor laj Caldea lix reyeb laj Babilonia. Li rey aßan quixjucß li templo ut quixchapeb ut quixcßameb Babilonia li kaxeßtônil yucuaß.
13But in the first year of Cyrus king of Babylon, Cyrus the king made a decree to build this house of God.
13Abanan yô chic xbên chihab roquic chokß rey aran Babilonia laj Ciro nak quixqßue cuißchic kalesêns chixyîbanquil lix templo li Dios,” chanqueb.
14The gold and silver vessels also of God’s house, which Nebuchadnezzar took out of the temple that was in Jerusalem, and brought into the temple of Babylon, those Cyrus the king took out of the temple of Babylon, and they were delivered to one whose name was Sheshbazzar, whom he had made governor;
14Ut xeßxye ajcuiß nak li rey Ciro quirisi saß xnaßajeb lix dioseb laj Babilonia chixjunil li secß oro ut plata li quixxoc chak laj Nabucodonosor saß lix templo li Kâcuaß aran Jerusalén. Quixkßaxtesiheb li secß re laj Sesbasar li nataklan saß xbêneb laj Judá.
15and he said to him, ‘Take these vessels, go, put them in the temple that is in Jerusalem, and let God’s house be built in its place.’
15Ut quixye re, “Cßam li secß aßin ut tatxic Jerusalén bar quicuan cuiß li templo. Ut têyîb cuißchic li templo saß lix naßaj li quicuan cuiß,” chan laj Ciro.
16Then the same Sheshbazzar came, and laid the foundations of God’s house which is in Jerusalem: and since that time even until now has it been in building, and yet it is not completed.
16Joßcan nak quicßulun laj Sesbasar ut quixqßue li cimiento re lix templo li Dios li cuan Jerusalén ut queßxtiquib xyîbanquil li templo. Ut chalen anakcuan toj mâjiß ajcuiß nayaloß.Joßcan nak cui nacacuaj xbânunquil aßin, at rey, nakatzßâma châcuu nak tâsicß saß li hu li cuan saß li palacio aran Babilonia. Tâtzßil âtin chirixeb re rilbal ma yâl nak li rey Ciro quiqßuehoc xlesênseb chixyîbanquil lix templo li Dios aran Jerusalén. Ut chabânu usilal, chatakla resil li cßaßru tâcuaj takabânu, chanqueb.
17Now therefore, if it seem good to the king, let a search be made in the king’s treasure house, which is there at Babylon, whether it be so, that a decree was made of Cyrus the king to build this house of God at Jerusalem; and let the king send his pleasure to us concerning this matter.”
17Joßcan nak cui nacacuaj xbânunquil aßin, at rey, nakatzßâma châcuu nak tâsicß saß li hu li cuan saß li palacio aran Babilonia. Tâtzßil âtin chirixeb re rilbal ma yâl nak li rey Ciro quiqßuehoc xlesênseb chixyîbanquil lix templo li Dios aran Jerusalén. Ut chabânu usilal, chatakla resil li cßaßru tâcuaj takabânu, chanqueb.
