¹Immediately in the morning the chief priests, with the elders and scribes, and the whole council, held a consultation, and bound Jesus, and carried him away, and delivered him up to Pilate.

¹Tuojau iš ryto aukštieji kunigai pasitarė su vyresniaisiais ir Rašto žinovais bei visu sinedrionu ir, surišę Jėzų, jie Jį nuvedė ir perdavė Pilotui.

²Pilate asked him, “Are you the King of the Jews?” He answered, “So you say.”

²Pilotas paklausė Jį: “Ar Tu esi žydų karalius?” Jis atsakė: “Taip yra, kaip sakai”.

³The chief priests accused him of many things.

³Aukštieji kunigai Jį daug kuo kaltino, bet Jis nieko neatsakinėjo.

⁴Pilate again asked him, “Have you no answer? See how many things they testify against you!”

⁴Pilotas vėl klausė Jį: “Tu nieko neatsakai? Žiūrėk, kiek daug kaltinimų jie Tau pateikia”.

⁵But Jesus made no further answer, so that Pilate marveled.

⁵Tačiau Jėzus nieko nebeatsakinėjo, ir Pilotas labai stebėjosi.

⁶Now at the feast he used to release to them one prisoner, whom they asked of him.

⁶Per šventes jis paleisdavo vieną kalinį, kurio žmonės prašydavo.

⁷There was one called Barabbas, bound with those who had made insurrection, men who in the insurrection had committed murder.

⁷Tada buvo vienas kalinys, vardu Barabas, suimtas kartu su maištininkais, kurie maišto metu nužudė žmogų.

⁸The multitude, crying aloud, began to ask him to do as he always did for them.

⁸Susirinkusi minia, garsiai šaukdama, pradėjo prašyti to, ką Pilotas visuomet darydavo.

⁹Pilate answered them, saying, “Do you want me to release to you the King of the Jews?”

⁹Pilotas paklausė: “Ar norite, kad jums paleisčiau žydų karalių?”

¹⁰For he perceived that for envy the chief priests had delivered him up.

¹⁰Nes jis žinojo, kad aukštieji kunigai Jį įskundė iš pavydo.

¹¹But the chief priests stirred up the multitude, that he should release Barabbas to them instead.

¹¹Tačiau aukštieji kunigai sukurstė minią reikalauti, kad geriau paleistų Barabą.

¹²Pilate again asked them, “What then should I do to him whom you call the King of the Jews?”

¹²Tada Pilotas vėl kreipėsi į juos: “O kaip jūs norite, kad aš pasielgčiau su Tuo, kurį vadinate žydų karaliumi?”

¹³They cried out again, “Crucify him!”

¹³Tie šaukė: “Nukryžiuok Jį!”

¹⁴Pilate said to them, “Why, what evil has he done?” But they cried out exceedingly, “Crucify him!”

¹⁴Pilotas jų klausė: “Ką bloga Jis padarė?” Tada jie pradėjo dar garsiau rėkti: “Nukryžiuok Jį!”

¹⁵Pilate, wishing to please the multitude, released Barabbas to them, and handed over Jesus, when he had flogged him, to be crucified.

¹⁵Norėdamas įtikti miniai, Pilotas paleido Barabą, o Jėzų nuplakdino ir atidavė nukryžiuoti.

¹⁶The soldiers led him away within the court, which is the Praetorium; and they called together the whole cohort.

¹⁶Kareiviai nusivedė Jį į rūmų kiemą, tai yra pretorijų, ir ten sušaukė visą kuopą.

¹⁷They clothed him with purple, and weaving a crown of thorns, they put it on him.

¹⁷Jie apvilko Jį purpuriniu apsiaustu, nupynę uždėjo Jam erškėčių vainiką

¹⁸They began to salute him, “Hail, King of the Jews!”

¹⁸ir pradėjo Jį sveikinti: “Sveikas, žydų karaliau!”

¹⁹They struck his head with a reed, and spat on him, and bowing their knees, did homage to him.

¹⁹Jie daužė Jam per galvą nendrine lazda, spjaudė ir priklaupdami garbino Jį.

²⁰When they had mocked him, they took the purple off of him, and put his own garments on him. They led him out to crucify him.

²⁰Pasityčioję nuvilko Jam purpurinį apsiaustą, apvilko Jo paties drabužiais ir išvedė nukryžiuoti.

²¹They compelled one passing by, coming from the country, Simon of Cyrene, the father of Alexander and Rufus, to go with them, that he might bear his cross.

²¹Jie privertė vieną grįžtantį iš lauko praeivį­Simoną Kirėnietį, Aleksandro ir Rufo tėvą,­nešti Jo kryžių.

²²They brought him to the place called Golgotha, which is, being interpreted, “The place of a skull.”

²²Ir jie nuvedė Jį į Golgotos vietą; išvertus tai reiškia: “Kaukolės vieta”.

²³They offered him wine mixed with myrrh to drink, but he didn’t take it.

²³Ten davė Jam mira atmiešto vyno, bet Jis negėrė.

²⁴Crucifying him, they parted his garments among them, casting lots on them, what each should take.

²⁴Nukryžiavę Jį, jie pasidalijo Jo drabužius, mesdami burtą, kas kuriam turi tekti.

²⁵It was the third hour, 9:00 A. M. and they crucified him.

²⁵Buvo trečia valanda, kai Jį nukryžiavo.

²⁶The superscription of his accusation was written over him, “THE KING OF THE JEWS.”

²⁶Taip pat buvo užrašytas Jo kaltinimas: “Žydų karalius”.

²⁷With him they crucified two robbers; one on his right hand, and one on his left.

²⁷Kartu su Juo nukryžiavo du plėšikus: vieną dešinėje, kitą kairėje.

²⁹Those who passed by blasphemed him, wagging their heads, and saying, “Ha! You who destroy the temple, and build it in three days,

²⁹Einantys pro šalį plūdo Jėzų, kraipydami galvas ir sakydami: “Še Tau, kuris sugriauni šventyklą ir per tris dienas ją atstatai.

³⁰save yourself, and come down from the cross!”

³⁰Išgelbėk save, nuženk nuo kryžiaus!”

³¹Likewise, also the chief priests mocking among themselves with the scribes said, “He saved others. He can’t save himself.

³¹Panašiai tyčiojosi ir aukštieji kunigai su Rašto žinovais, kalbėdami tarp savęs: “Kitus gelbėdavo, o savęs negali išgelbėti.

³²Let the Christ, the King of Israel, now come down from the cross, that we may see and believe him. TR omits “him” ” Those who were crucified with him insulted him.

³²Tegul Kristus, Izraelio karalius, dabar nužengia nuo kryžiaus, kad pamatytume ir įtikėtume”. Kartu nukryžiuotieji irgi užgauliojo Jį.

³³When the sixth hour or, noon had come, there was darkness over the whole land until the ninth hour. 3:00 PM

³³Šeštai valandai atėjus, visą kraštą apgaubė tamsa iki devintos valandos.

³⁴At the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, “Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani?” which is, being interpreted, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” Psalm 22:1

³⁴Devintą valandą Jėzus garsiu balsu sušuko: “Elojí, Elojí, lemá sabachtáni?” Tai reiškia: “Mano Dieve, mano Dieve, kodėl mane palikai?!”

³⁵Some of those who stood by, when they heard it, said, “Behold, he is calling Elijah.”

³⁵Kai kurie ten stovintys išgirdę sakė: “Žiūrėk, Jis šaukiasi Elijo”.

³⁶One ran, and filling a sponge full of vinegar, put it on a reed, and gave it to him to drink, saying, “Let him be. Let’s see whether Elijah comes to take him down.”

³⁶Tada vienas nubėgęs primirkė kempinę rūgštaus vyno, užmovė ją ant nendrės ir davė Jam gerti, sakydamas: “Palaukite, pažiūrėsime, ar ateis Elijas Jo nuimti”.

³⁷Jesus cried out with a loud voice, and gave up the spirit.

³⁷Bet Jėzus, garsiai sušukęs, atidavė dvasią.

³⁸The veil of the temple was torn in two from the top to the bottom.

³⁸Ir šventyklos uždanga perplyšo pusiau nuo viršaus iki apačios.

³⁹When the centurion, who stood by opposite him, saw that he cried out like this and breathed his last, he said, “Truly this man was the Son of God!”

³⁹Šimtininkas, stovėjęs priešais ir matęs, kaip Jis šaukdamas mirė, tarė: “Tikrai šitas žmogus buvo Dievo Sūnus!”

⁴⁰There were also women watching from afar, among whom were both Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James the less and of Joses, and Salome;

⁴⁰Ten taip pat buvo moterų, kurios žiūrėjo iš toli; tarp jų ir Marija Magdalietė, Marija­Jokūbo Jaunesniojo ir Jozės motina­ir Salomė.

⁴¹who, when he was in Galilee, followed him, and served him; and many other women who came up with him to Jerusalem.

⁴¹Kai Jėzus dar buvo Galilėjoje, jos Jį lydėjo ir Jam tarnavo. Ten buvo ir daug kitų moterų, kartu su Juo atvykusių į Jeruzalę.

⁴²When evening had now come, because it was the Preparation Day, that is, the day before the Sabbath,

⁴²Vakarui atėjus, kadangi buvo Prisirengimas,­sabato išvakarės,­

⁴³Joseph of Arimathaea, a prominent council member who also himself was looking for the Kingdom of God, came. He boldly went in to Pilate, and asked for Jesus’ body.

⁴³atvyko Juozapas iš Arimatėjos, garbingas teismo tarybos narys, kuris irgi laukė Dievo karalystės. Jis drąsiai nuėjo pas Pilotą ir paprašė Jėzaus kūno.

⁴⁴Pilate marveled if he were already dead; and summoning the centurion, he asked him whether he had been dead long.

⁴⁴Pilotas nustebo, argi jau būtų miręs? Jis pasišaukė šimtininką ir paklausė, ar Jėzus jau miręs.

⁴⁵When he found out from the centurion, he granted the body to Joseph.

⁴⁵Sužinojęs tai iš šimtininko, jis atidavė Juozapui kūną.

⁴⁶He bought a linen cloth, and taking him down, wound him in the linen cloth, and laid him in a tomb which had been cut out of a rock. He rolled a stone against the door of the tomb.

⁴⁶Šis nupirko drobulę, nuėmė Jėzų nuo kryžiaus, įvyniojo į drobulę, paguldė Jį kape, kuris buvo iškaltas uoloje, ir užritino angą akmeniu.

⁴⁷Mary Magdalene and Mary, the mother of Joses, saw where he was laid.

⁴⁷Marija Magdalena ir Marija, Jozės motina, matė, kur Jis buvo palaidotas.
