¹It happened, when Jesus had finished all these words, that he said to his disciples,

¹ਜਦੋਂ ਯਿਸੂ ਇਹ ਸਭ ਬਚਨ ਆਖ ਹਟਿਆ, ਉਸਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਚੇਲਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ,

² “You know that after two days the Passover is coming, and the Son of Man will be delivered up to be crucified.”

²“ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਪਤਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਪਰਸੋਂ ਪਸਾਹ ਦਾ ਤਿਉਹਾਰ ਹੈ। ਉਸ ਦਿਨ, ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਆਪਣੇ ਦੁਸ਼ਮਨਾਂ ਹੱਥੀਂ ਸਲੀਬ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਜਾਣ ਲਈ ਦੇ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ।”

³Then the chief priests, the scribes, and the elders of the people were gathered together in the court of the high priest, who was called Caiaphas.

³ਤਦ ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨ ਜਾਜਕ ਅਤੇ ਬਜ਼ੁਰਗ ਯਹੂਦੀ ਆਗੂ ਸਰਦਾਰ ਜਾਜਕ ਦੇ ਮਹਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਇਕਠੇ ਹੋਏ। ਸਰਦਾਰ ਜਾਜਕ ਦਾ ਨਾਓ ਕਯਾਫ਼ਾ ਸੀ।

⁴They took counsel together that they might take Jesus by deceit, and kill him.

⁴ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਸਭਾ ਵਿੱਚ, ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਧੋਖੇ ਨਾਲ ਯਿਸੂ ਨੂੰ ਗਿਰਫ਼ਤਾਰ ਕਰਨ ਅਤੇ ਮਾਰ ਦੇਣ ਦੀ ਵਿਉਂਤ ਬਣਾਈ।

⁵But they said, “Not during the feast, lest a riot occur among the people.”

⁵ਪਰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਅਸੀਂ ਯਿਸੂ ਨੂੰ ਪਸਾਹ ਦੇ ਤਿਉਹਾਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਗਿਰਫ਼ਤਾਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰ ਸਕਦੇ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਲੋਕ ਗੁੱਸੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਆ ਜਾਣਗੇ ਅਤੇ ਫ਼ਸਾਦ ਕਰ ਦੇਣਗੇ।”

⁶Now when Jesus was in Bethany, in the house of Simon the leper,

⁶ਜਦੋਂ ਯਿਸੂ ਬੈਤਅਨੀਆ ਵਿੱਚ ਸ਼ਮਊਨ ਕੋਢ਼ੀ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਸੀ।

⁷a woman came to him having an alabaster jar of very expensive ointment, and she poured it on his head as he sat at the table.

⁷ਤਾਂ ਇੱਕ ਔਰਤ ਉਸ ਕੋਲ ਆਈ। ਉਸ ਕੋਲ ਸੰਗਮਰਮਰ ਦੀ ਸ਼ੀਸ਼ੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਬਡ਼ਾ ਮਹਿੰਗਾ ਅਤਰ ਭਰਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਸੀ। ਉਸ ਔਰਤ ਨੇ ਜਦੋਂ ਯਿਸੂ ਭੋਜਨ ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਸੀ, ਇਹ ਅਤਰ ਉਸਦੇ ਸਿਰ ਉੱਤੇ ਰੋਢ਼ ਦਿੱਤਾ।

⁸But when his disciples saw this, they were indignant, saying, “Why this waste?

⁸ਜਦੋਂ ਚੇਲਿਆਂ ਨੇ ਔਰਤ ਨੂੰ ਇਉਂ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਵੇਖਿਆ, ਉਹ ਬਡ਼ੇ ਪਰੇਸ਼ਾਨ ਹੋ ਗਏ ਅਤੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਇਹ ਬੇਕਾਰ ਹੀ ਕਿਉਂ?

⁹For this ointment might have been sold for much, and given to the poor.”

⁹ਇਹੋ ਅਤਰ ਮਹਿੰਗੇ ਮੁਲ੍ਲ ਵੇਚਿਆ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਪੈਸੇ ਗਰੀਬ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਜਾ ਸਕਦੇ ਸਨ?

¹⁰However, knowing this, Jesus said to them, “Why do you trouble the woman? Because she has done a good work for me.

¹⁰ਯਿਸੂ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਕੀ ਵਾਪਰਿਆ ਸੀ। ਇਸਲਈ ਉਸਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਤੁਸੀਂ ਇਸ ਔਰਤ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਉਂ ਖਿਝਾ ਰਹੇ ਹੋ? ਉਸਨੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਲਈ ਇਹ ਬਹੁਤ ਚੰਗਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ।

¹¹ For you always have the poor with you; but you don’t always have me.

¹¹ਗਰੀਬ ਲੋਕ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਨਾਲ ਹੋਣਗੇ ਪਰ ਮੈਂ ਸਦਾ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਨਾਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹਾਂਗਾ।

¹² For in pouring this ointment on my body, she did it to prepare me for burial.

¹²ਇਸ ਔਰਤ ਨੇ ਅਤਰ ਮੇਰੇ ਸ਼ਰੀਰ ਤੇ ਰੋਢ਼ਿਆ ਹੈ। ਇਸਨੇ ਇਹ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਰਨ ਉਪਰੰਤ ਦੇਹ ਨੂੰ ਦਫ਼ਨਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ।

¹³ Most certainly I tell you, wherever this Good News is preached in the whole world, what this woman has done will also be spoken of as a memorial of her.”

¹³ਮੈਂ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਸੱਚ ਆਖਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਕਿ ਖੁਸ਼-ਖਬਰੀ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਚਾਰ ਸਾਰੇ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਜਿਥੇ ਕਿਤੇ ਇਹ ਖੁਸ਼-ਖਬਰੀ ਪਹੁੰਚੇਗੀ, ਜੋ ਇਸ ਔਰਤ ਨੇ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ ਇਹ ਕਹਾਣੀ ਵੀ ਕਹੀ ਜਾਵੇਗੀ ਅਤੇ ਲੋਕ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਯਾਦ ਕਰਨਗੇ।”

¹⁴Then one of the twelve, who was called Judas Iscariot, went to the chief priests,

¹⁴ਤਦ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਬਾਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਚੇਲਿਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਇੱਕ ਨੇ ਜਿਸਦਾ ਨਾਉਂ ਯਹੂਦਾ ਇਸਕਰਿਯੋਤੀ ਸੀ, ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨ ਜਾਜਕ ਕੋਲ ਜਾਕੇ ਆਖਿਆ,

¹⁵and said, “What are you willing to give me, that I should deliver him to you?” They weighed out for him thirty pieces of silver.

¹⁵“ਮੈਂ ਯਿਸੂ ਨੂੰ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਹੱਥ ਫ਼ਡ਼ਵਾ ਦੇਵਾਂਗਾ ਤਾਂ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਇਸ ਕਾਰਜ ਲਈ ਕੀ ਦੇਵੋਂਗੇ?” ਤਾਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਜਾਜਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਤੀਹ ਚਾਂਦੀ ਦੇ ਸਿੱਕੇ ਦੇ ਦਿੱਤੇ।

¹⁶From that time he sought opportunity to betray him.

¹⁶ਉਸ ਵੇਲੇ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਦ ਯਹੂਦਾ ਯਿਸੂ ਨੂੰ ਜਾਜਕ ਦੇ ਹੱਥ ਫ਼ਡ਼ਵਾਉਨ ਦਾ ਦਾਅ ਲਭਣ ਲੱਗਾ।

¹⁷Now on the first day of unleavened bread, the disciples came to Jesus, saying to him, “Where do you want us to prepare for you to eat the Passover?”

¹⁷ਪਤੀਰੀ ਰੋਟੀ ਦੇ ਤਿਉਹਾਰ ਦੇ ਪਹਿਲੇ ਦਿਨ, ਚੇਲਿਆਂ ਨੇ ਯਿਸੂ ਕੋਲ ਆਕੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਖਾਣ ਲਈ ਪਸਾਹ ਦਾ ਭੋਜਨ ਅਸੀਂ ਕਿਥੇ ਤਿਆਰ ਕਰੀਏ?”

¹⁸He said, “Go into the city to a certain person, and tell him, ‘The Teacher says, “My time is at hand. I will keep the Passover at your house with my disciples.”’”

¹⁸ਯਿਸੂ ਨੇ ਉੱਤਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ, “ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਅੰਦਰ ਜਾਓ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲੋ ਜਿਸਨੂੰ ਮੈਂ ਜਾਨਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਦੱਸੋ ਕਿ ਤੇਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ, ‘ਮੇਰਾ ਚੁਣਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਵੇਲਾ ਨੇਡ਼ੇ ਆ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਪਸਾਹ ਦਾ ਭੋਜਨ ਆਪਣੇ ਚੇਲਿਆਂ ਸਮੇਤ ਤੇਰੇ ਘਰ ਹੀ ਕਰਾਂਗਾ।”‘

¹⁹The disciples did as Jesus commanded them, and they prepared the Passover.

¹⁹ਜਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਯਿਸੂ ਨੇ ਚੇਲਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਹਾ, ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਉਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਹੀ ਕੀਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਉਵੇਂ ਪਸਾਹ ਦਾ ਭੋਜਨ ਤਿਆਰ ਹੋਇਆ।

²⁰Now when evening had come, he was reclining at the table with the twelve disciples.

²⁰ਸ਼ਾਮ ਵੇਲੇ ਯਿਸੂ ਆਪਣੇ ਬਾਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਚੇਲਿਆ ਸਮੇਤ ਮੇਜ਼ ਤੇ ਬੈਠਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਸੀ।

²¹As they were eating, he said, “Most certainly I tell you that one of you will betray me.”

²¹ਜਦੋਂ ਉਹ ਖਾ ਰਹੇ ਸਨ ਤਾਂ ਯਿਸੂ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਮੈਂ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਸੱਚ ਆਖਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਬਾਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਇੱਕ ਚੇਲਾ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਜਲਦੀ ਹੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਦੁਸ਼ਮਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਹੱਥ ਫ਼ਡ਼ਾ ਦੇਵੇਗਾ।”

²²They were exceedingly sorrowful, and each began to ask him, “It isn’t me, is it, Lord?”

²²ਇਹ ਸੁਣਕੇ ਚੇਲੇ ਬਡ਼ੇ ਨਿਰਾਸ਼ ਹੋਏ। ਯਿਸੂ ਦੇ ਹਰ ਚੇਲੇ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਪ੍ਰਭੂ, ਨਿਸ਼ਚਿਤ ਹੀ ਮੈਂ ਉਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਹਾਂ! ਕੀ ਇਹ ਸੱਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ?

²³He answered, “He who dipped his hand with me in the dish, the same will betray me.

²³ਯਿਸੂ ਨੇ ਉੱਤਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ, “ਜਿਸ ਆਦਮੀ ਨੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਇਸ ਕਟੋਰੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੱਥ ਡੁਬੋਇਆ ਹੈ ਉਹੀ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਹੈ ਜਿਹਡ਼ਾ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਦੁਸ਼ਮਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਹੱਥੀ ਫ਼ਡ਼ਾਵੇਗਾ।

²⁴ The Son of Man goes, even as it is written of him, but woe to that man through whom the Son of Man is betrayed! It would be better for that man if he had not been born.”

²⁴ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਉਵੇਂ ਹੀ ਮਰੇਗਾ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਉਸ ਬਾਰੇ, ਪੋਥੀਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ। ਪਰ ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਤੇ ਲਾਹਨਤ ਜਿਹਡ਼ਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਨੂੰ ਵੈਰੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਹੱਥੀਂ ਫ਼ਡ਼ਾਵੇਗਾ। ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਲਈ ਭਲਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਨਾ ਹੀ ਜੰਮਦਾ।”

²⁵Judas, who betrayed him, answered, “It isn’t me, is it, Rabbi?” He said to him, “You said it.”

²⁵ਤਦ ਯਹੂਦਾ ਨੇ ਯਿਸੂ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ, ਨਿਸ਼ਚਿਤ ਹੀ ਮੈਂ ਉਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਹਾਂ। ਕੀ ਇਹ ਸੱਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ? ਯਹੂਦਾ ਹੀ ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸੀ ਜੋ ਯਿਸੂ ਨੂੰ ਉਸਦੇ ਦੁਸ਼ਮਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਹੱਥ ਫ਼ਡ਼ਵਾਉਨਾ ਚਾਹੁੰਦਾ ਸੀ ਤਾਂ ਯਿਸੂ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਹਾਂ ਉਹ ਤੂੰ ਹੈਂ।”

²⁶As they were eating, Jesus took bread, gave thanks for TR reads “blessed” instead of “gave thanks for” it, and broke it. He gave to the disciples, and said, “Take, eat; this is my body.”

²⁶ਜਦੋਂ ਉਹ ਖਾ ਰਹੇ ਸਨ ਤਾਂ ਯਿਸੂ ਨੇ ਥੋਡ਼ੀ ਰੋਟੀ ਲਈ। ਯਿਸੂ ਨੇ ਰੋਟੀ ਲਈ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦਾ ਸ਼ੁਕਰਾਨਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਇਸਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਚੇਲਿਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੰਡ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਇਹ ਰੋਟੀ ਲਵੋ ਤੇ ਖਾ ਲਵੋ ਕਿਉਂ ਜੁ ਇਹ ਮੇਰਾ ਸ਼ਰੀਰ ਹੈ।”

²⁷He took the cup, gave thanks, and gave to them, saying, “All of you drink it,

²⁷ਫ਼ਿਰ ਯਿਸੂ ਨੇ ਮੈਅ ਦਾ ਪਿਆਲਾ ਫ਼ਡ਼ਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦਾ ਸ਼ੁਕਰਾਨਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਹਰ ਕੋਈ ਇਸਨੂੰ ਪੀਓ।

²⁸ for this is my blood of the new covenant, which is poured out for many for the remission of sins.

²⁸ਇਹ ਮੇਰਾ ਲਹੂ ਹੈ। ਮੇਰਾ ਲਹੂ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਅਤੇ ਉਸਦੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਵਿਚਕਾਰ ਨਵਾਂ ਕਰਾਰ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਪਾਪ ਮਾਫ਼ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਇਹ ਲਹੂ ਵਹਾਇਆ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।

²⁹ But I tell you that I will not drink of this fruit of the vine from now on, until that day when I drink it anew with you in my Father’s Kingdom.”

²⁹ਮੈਂ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਦੱਸਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਇਸ ਮੈਅ ਨੂੰ ਫ਼ੇਰ ਕਦੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੀਵਾਂਗਾ। ਪਰ ਜਦੋਂ ਮੈਂ ਇਸਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਿਤਾ ਦੇ ਰਾਜ ਵਿੱਚ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਨਾਲ ਪੀਵਾਂਗਾ ਤਾਂ ਇਹ ਨਵੀਂ ਹੋਵੇਗੀ।”

³⁰When they had sung a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives.

³⁰ਫ਼ਿਰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਭਜਨ ਗਾਇਆ। ਇਸਤੋਂ ਬਾਦ ਜੈਤੂਨ ਦੇ ਪਹਾਡ਼ ਵੱਲ ਚਲੇ ਗਏ।

³¹Then Jesus said to them, “All of you will be made to stumble because of me tonight, for it is written, ‘I will strike the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock will be scattered.’ Zechariah 13:7

³¹ਯਿਸੂ ਨੇ ਚੇਲਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਅੱਜ ਰਾਤ ਮੇਰੇ ਕਾਰਣ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਸਾਰੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਭਰੋਸਾ ਗੁਆ ਲਵੋਂਗੇ। ਕਿਉਂ ਜੁ ਇਹ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ: ‘ਮੈਂ ਆਜਡ਼ੀ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰ ਦੇਵਾਂਗਾ, ਅਤੇ ਉਸਦੇ ਇੱਜਡ਼ ਦੀਆਂ ਭੇਡਾਂ ਖਿਲ੍ਲਰ ਜਾਣਗੀਆਂ।’ਜ਼ਕਰਜਾਹ 13:7

³² But after I am raised up, I will go before you into Galilee.”

³²ਪਰ ਮੈਂ ਮੌਤ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਦ ਫ਼ਿਰ ਜੀ ਉਠਾਂਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਗਲੀਲੀ ਵੱਲ ਜਾਵਾਂਗਾ। ਮੈਂ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਉਥੇ ਪਹੁੰਚਣ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਹੀ ਉਥੇ ਹੋਵਾਂਗਾ।”

³³But Peter answered him, “Even if all will be made to stumble because of you, I will never be made to stumble.”

³³ਤਦ ਪਤਰਸ ਨੇ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਉੱਤਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ, “ਭਾਵੇਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਬਾਕੀ ਸਾਰੇ ਚੇਲੇ ਭਰੋਸਾ ਗੁਆ ਬੈਠਣ, ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣਾ ਭਰੋਸਾ ਕਦੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਗੁਆਵਾਂਗਾ।

³⁴Jesus said to him, “Most certainly I tell you that tonight, before the rooster crows, you will deny me three times.”

³⁴ਯਿਸੂ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਮੈਂ ਸੱਚ ਆਖਦਾ ਕਿ ਅੱਜ ਰਾਤ ਕੁੱਕਡ਼ ਦੇ ਬਾਂਗ ਦੇਣ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਤੂੰ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਨਾਮੰਜ਼ੂਰ ਕਰੇਂਗਾ।”

³⁵Peter said to him, “Even if I must die with you, I will not deny you.” All of the disciples also said likewise.

³⁵ਪਰ ਪਤਰਸ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਭਾਵੇਂ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਨਾਲ ਮਰਨਾ ਪਵੇ ਮੈਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਕਦੇ ਵੀ ਨਾਮੰਜ਼ੂਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਾਂਗਾ।” ਅਤੇ ਇਉਂ ਹੀ ਬਾਕੀ ਸਰੇ ਚੇਲਿਆਂ ਨੇ ਵੀ ਕਿਹਾ।

³⁶Then Jesus came with them to a place called Gethsemane, and said to his disciples, “Sit here, while I go there and pray.”

³⁶ਫ਼ੇਰ, ਯਿਸੂ ਆਪਣੇ ਚੇਲਿਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਗਥਸਮਨੀ ਨਾਮੇਂ ਦੀ ਇੱਕ ਥਾਂ ਤੇ ਗਿਆ, ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਜਿੰਨਾ ਚਿਰ ਮੈਂ ਉਥੇ ਰਹਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਰਥਨਾ ਕਰਾਂ, ਤੁਸੀਂ ਇਥੇ ਬੈਠੋ।”

³⁷He took with him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, and began to be sorrowful and severely troubled.

³⁷ਯਿਸੂ ਨੇ ਪਤਰਸ ਅਤੇ ਜ਼ਬਦੀ ਦੇ ਦੋਵੇਂ ਪੁੱਤਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਲ ਆਉਣ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਹਾ ਪਰ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਯਿਸੂ ਬਡ਼ਾ ਉਦਾਸ ਅਤੇ ਬੇਕਰਾਰ ਨਜ਼ਰ ਆਉਣ ਲੱਗਾ।

³⁸Then he said to them, “My soul is exceedingly sorrowful, even to death. Stay here, and watch with me.”

³⁸ਯਿਸੂ ਨੇ ਪਤਰਸ ਅਤੇ ਜ਼ਬਦੀ ਦੇ ਦੋਹਾਂ ਪੁੱਤਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਮੇਰਾ ਆਤਮਾ ਦੁਖ ਨਾਲ ਭਰਪੂਰ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਮੇਰਾ ਦਿਲ ਉਦਾਸੀ ਨਾਲ ਟੁਟ੍ਟਦਾ ਜਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ। ਤੁਸੀਂ ਇਥੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਜਾਗਦੇ ਰਹੋ ਅਤੇ ਰਤਾ ਉਡੀਕ ਕਰੋ।”

³⁹He went forward a little, fell on his face, and prayed, saying, “My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass away from me; nevertheless, not what I desire, but what you desire.”

³⁹ਤਦ ਯਿਸੂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਥੋਡ਼ਾ ਕੁ ਅੱਗੇ ਨੂੰ ਵਧਿਆ। ਯਿਸੂ ਮੂੰਹ ਭਾਰ ਜ਼ਮੀਨ ਉੱਤੇ ਪਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਰਥਨਾ ਕੀਤੀ, “ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਪਿਤਾ, ਜੇਕਰ ਇਹ ਸੰਭਵ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਦੁਖ ਦਾ ਇਹ ਪਿਆਲਾ ਲੈ ਲਵੋ। ਪਰ ਤੂੰ ਉਹੀ ਕਰ ਜੋ ਤੂੰ ਚਾਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਨਾ ਕਿ ਜੋ ਮੈਂ ਚਾਹੁੰਦਾ ਹਾਂ।”

⁴⁰He came to the disciples, and found them sleeping, and said to Peter, “What, couldn’t you watch with me for one hour?

⁴⁰ਤਦ ਯਿਸੂ ਆਪਣੇ ਚੇਲਿਆਂ ਕੋਲ ਆਇਆ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੁਤਿਆਂ ਪਾਇਆ। ਯਿਸੂ ਨੇ ਪਤਰਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਕੀ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਮੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਇੱਕ ਘੰਟੇ ਲਈ ਵੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਗ ਸਕਦੇ?

⁴¹ Watch and pray, that you don’t enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.”

⁴¹ਜਾਗੋ ਅਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਰਥਨਾ ਕਰੋ ਕਿ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਪਰਤਾਵੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਾ ਪਵੋਂ। ਆਤਮਾ ਤਾਂ ਇਛੁੱਕ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਤੁਹਾਡਾ ਸ਼ਰੀਰ ਕਮਜ਼ੋਰ ਹੈ।”

⁴²Again, a second time he went away, and prayed, saying, “My Father, if this cup can’t pass away from me unless I drink it, your desire be done.”

⁴²ਫ਼ੇਰ ਯਿਸੂ ਦੂਜੀ ਵਾਰ ਉਥੇ ਚਲਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਰਥਨਾ ਕੀਤੀ, “ਮੇਰੇ ਪਿਤਾ, ਜੇਕਰ ਇਹ ਦੁਖਾ ਦਾ ਪਿਆਲਾ ਮੇਰੇ ਝੱਲਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਹਟਾਇਆ ਜਾਣਾ ਸੰਭਵ ਨਹੀਂ, ਕਾਸ਼ ਤੁਹਾਡੀ ਇੱਛਾ ਹੀ ਪੂਰਨ ਹੋਵੇ।”

⁴³He came again and found them sleeping, for their eyes were heavy.

⁴³ਜਦੋਂ ਯਿਸੂ ਵਾਪਿਸ ਆਇਆ, ਉਸਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਚੇਲਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੁਤਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਪਾਇਆ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਅਖਾ ਥਕੀਆ ਹੋਈਆਂ ਸਨ।

⁴⁴He left them again, went away, and prayed a third time, saying the same words.

⁴⁴ਤਾ ਯਿਸੂ ਤੋ ਵਿਦਾ ਹੋਕੇ ਇਕ ਵਾਰ ਫਿਰ ਚਲਾ ਗਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਤੀਜੀ ਵਾਰ ਉਹੀ ਬਚਨ ਆਖਦੇ ਹੋਏ ਪ੍ਰਾਰਥਨਾ ਕੀਤੀ

⁴⁵Then he came to his disciples, and said to them, “Sleep on now, and take your rest. Behold, the hour is at hand, and the Son of Man is betrayed into the hands of sinners.

⁴⁵ਯਿਸੂ ਵਾਪਿਸ ਚੇਲਿਆਂ ਕੋਲ ਗਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਆਖਣ ਲੱਗਾ, “ਤੁਸੀਂ ਅਜੇ ਵੀ ਸੌਂ ਰਹੇ ਹੋ ਅਤੇ ਅਰਾਮ ਕਰ ਰਹੇ ਹੋ? ਵੇਖੋ ਉਹ ਘਡ਼ੀ ਆ ਗਈ ਹੈ ਜਦੋਂ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਪਾਪੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਹੱਥ ਫ਼ਡ਼ਾਇਆ ਜਾਣਾ ਹੈ।

⁴⁶ Arise, let’s be going. Behold, he who betrays me is at hand.”

⁴⁶ਵੇਖੋ, ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਮੇਰੇ ਦੁਸ਼ਮਨਾਂ ਹੱਥੀਂ ਫ਼ਡ਼ਾਵੇਗਾ ਉਹ ਆ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।”

⁴⁷While he was still speaking, behold, Judas, one of the twelve, came, and with him a great multitude with swords and clubs, from the chief priest and elders of the people.

⁴⁷ਜਦੋਂ ਯਿਸੂ ਅਜੇ ਬੋਲ ਰਿਹਾ ਸੀ, ਬਾਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਚੇਲਿਆਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਇੱਕ, ਯਹੂਦਾ ਉਥੇ ਆ ਗਿਆ। ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨ ਜਾਜਕਾਂ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਭੇਜੇ ਹੋਏ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰੇ ਲੋਕ ਅਤੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਬਜ਼ੁਰਗ ਆਗੂ ਵੀ ਉਸਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਸਨ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕੋਲ ਤਲਵਾਰਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਡਾਂਗਾਂ ਫ਼ਡ਼ੀਆਂ ਹੋਈਆਂ ਸਨ।

⁴⁸Now he who betrayed him gave them a sign, saying, “Whoever I kiss, he is the one. Seize him.”

⁴⁸ਯਹੂਦਾ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਨਿਸ਼ਾਨ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਸੀ: “ਕਿ ਜਿਸ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਮੈਂ ਚੁੰਮਾਂ ਉਹੀ ਯਿਸੂ ਹੈ। ਉਸਨੂੰ ਗਿਰਫ਼ਤਾਰ ਕਰ ਲੈਣਾ”

⁴⁹Immediately he came to Jesus, and said, “Hail, Rabbi!” and kissed him.

⁴⁹ਤਾਂ ਯਹੂਡਾ ਸਿਧਾ ਯਿਸੂ ਕੋਲ ਗਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਨਮਸਕਾਰ!” ਫ਼ਿਰ ਉਸਨੇ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਚੁੰਮਿਆ।

⁵⁰Jesus said to him, “Friend, why are you here?” Then they came and laid hands on Jesus, and took him.

⁵⁰ਯਿਸੂ ਨੇ ਉੱਤਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ, “ਮਿੱਤਰ, ਤੂੰ ਜੋ ਇਥੇ ਕਰਨ ਆਇਆ ਹੈਂ ਉਹ ਕਰ।” ਉਦੋਂ ਹੀ ਆਦਮੀ ਆਗਏ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਯਿਸੂ ਨੂੰ ਫ਼ਡ਼ਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਗਿਰਫ਼ਤਾਰ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ।

⁵¹Behold, one of those who were with Jesus stretched out his hand, and drew his sword, and struck the servant of the high priest, and struck off his ear.

⁵¹ਜਦੋਂ ਇੰਝ ਵਾਪਰਿਆ ਤਾਂ ਯਿਸੂ ਦੇ ਚੇਲਿਆਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਇੱਕ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਤਲਵਾਰ ਕਢੀ ਅਤੇ ਸਰਦਾਰ ਜਾਜਕ ਦੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਤੇ ਚਲਾਈ ਅਤੇ ਉਸਦਾ ਕੰਨ ਵਢ ਦਿੱਤਾ।

⁵²Then Jesus said to him, “Put your sword back into its place, for all those who take the sword will die by the sword.

⁵²ਯਿਸੂ ਨੇ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਆਪਣੀ ਤਲਵਾਰ ਮੁਡ਼ ਮਿਆਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਾ ਲੈ, ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਜਿਹਡ਼ੇ ਤਲਵਾਰ ਚਲਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਉਹ ਤਲਵਾਰ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਮਾਰੇ ਜਾਣਗੇ।

⁵³ Or do you think that I couldn’t ask my Father, and he would even now send me more than twelve legions of angels?

⁵³ਕੀ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਣਦੇ ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਿਤਾ ਨੂੰ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਝੱਟ ਮੇਰੇ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਦੂਤਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਬਾਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਸੈਨਾ ਤੋਂ ਵਧ ਭੇਜ ਦੇਵੇਗਾ।

⁵⁴ How then would the Scriptures be fulfilled that it must be so?”

⁵⁴ਪਰ ਇਸਨੂੰ ਇਵੇਂ ਵਾਪਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਉਵੇਂ ਹੀ ਹੋਵੇ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਪੋਥੀਆਂ ਆਖਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ।”

⁵⁵In that hour Jesus said to the multitudes, “Have you come out as against a robber with swords and clubs to seize me? I sat daily in the temple teaching, and you didn’t arrest me.

⁵⁵ਤਦ ਯਿਸੂ ਨੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਕੀ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਤਲਵਾਰਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਡਾਂਗਾ ਨਾਲ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਗਿਰਫ਼ਤਾਰ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਆਏ ਹੋਂ, ਜਿਵੇਂ ਮੈਂ ਕੋਈ ਅਪਰਾਧੀ ਹੋਵਾਂ? ਹਰ ਰੋਜ਼ ਮੈਂ ਮੰਦਰ ਦੇ ਇਲਾਕੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਬੈਠਦਾ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਸੀ, ਪਰ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਗਿਰਫ਼ਤਾਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤਾ।

⁵⁶ But all this has happened, that the Scriptures of the prophets might be fulfilled.” Then all the disciples left him, and fled.

⁵⁶ਪਰ ਇਹ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਇਸਲਈ ਹੋਇਆ ਤਾਂ ਕਿ ਨਬੀਆਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਲਿਖਤਾਂ ਪੂਰੀਆਂ ਹੋਣ।” ਇਸਤੋਂ ਬਾਦ ਯਿਸੂ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਚੇਲੇ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਛੱਡਕੇ ਭੱਜ ਗਏ।

⁵⁷Those who had taken Jesus led him away to Caiaphas the high priest, where the scribes and the elders were gathered together.

⁵⁷ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਯਿਸੂ ਨੂੰ ਗਿਰਫ਼ਤਾਰ ਕੀਤਾ ਸੀ ਉਹ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਸਰਦਾਰ ਜਾਜਕ ਕਯਾਫ਼ਾ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਲੈ ਗਏ ਜਿਥੇ ਨੇਮ ਦੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ਕ ਅਤੇ ਵਡੇਰੇ ਆਗੂ ਇਕਠੇ ਹੋਏ ਸਨ।

⁵⁸But Peter followed him from a distance, to the court of the high priest, and entered in and sat with the officers, to see the end.

⁵⁸ਜਦੋਂ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਸਰਦਾਰ ਜਾਜਕ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਲਿਜਾਇਆ ਜਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਸੀ ਤਾਂ ਪਤਰਸ ਨੇ ਕੁਝ ਵਿਥ ਨਾਲ ਉਸਦਾ ਪਿਛਾ ਕੀਤਾ। ਉਸਨੇ ਵਿਹਡ਼ੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਪ੍ਰਵੇਸ਼ ਕੀਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਸਿਪਾਹੀਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਬੈਠ ਗਿਆ। ਉਹ ਇਹ ਵੇਖਣ ਲਈ ਉਤਸੁਕ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਅੰਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਯਿਸੂ ਨਾਲ ਕੀ ਵਾਪਰੇਗਾ।

⁵⁹Now the chief priests, the elders, and the whole council sought false testimony against Jesus, that they might put him to death;

⁵⁹ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨ ਜਾਜਕ ਅਤੇ ਯਹੂਦੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਪੂਰੀ ਸਭਾ ਯਿਸੂ ਦੇ ਖਿਲਾਫ਼ ਝੂਠੇ ਗਵਾਹ ਲਭ ਰਹੀ ਸੀ। ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਉਹ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਮਰਵਾ ਸਕਣ। ਉਹ ਅਜਿਹੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਲਭਣ ਦੀ ਕੋਸ਼ਿਸ਼ ਕਰ ਰਹੇ ਸਨ ਜੋ ਯਿਸੂ ਦੇ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ ਕੁਝ ਕਹਿਣ।

⁶⁰and they found none. Even though many false witnesses came forward, they found none. But at last two false witnesses came forward,

⁶⁰ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰੇ ਲੋਕ ਸਾਮ੍ਹਣੇ ਆਏ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਯਿਸੂ ਬਾਰੇ ਝੂਠੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਆਖੀਆਂ। ਪਰ ਉਹ ਅਜਿਹੀ ਕੋਈ ਵੀ ਗਵਾਹੀ ਨਾ ਲਭ ਸਕੇ। ਫ਼ੇਰ ਦੋ ਲੋਕ ਬਾਹਰ ਆਏ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਆਖਿਆ,

⁶¹and said, “This man said, ‘I am able to destroy the temple of God, and to build it in three days.’”

⁶¹“ਇਸ ਆਦਮੀ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, ‘ਮੈਂ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦਾ ਮੰਦਰ ਤਬਾਹ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਤਿੰਨ ਦਿਨਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਫ਼ੇਰ ਬਣਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹਾਂ।”‘

⁶²The high priest stood up, and said to him, “Have you no answer? What is this that these testify against you?”

⁶²ਸਰਦਾਰ ਜਾਜਕ ਉਠਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਯਿਸੂ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਣ ਲੱਗਾ, “ਇਹ ਲੋਕ ਤੇਰੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਦੋਸ਼ ਲਾ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ। ਕੀ ਤੇਰੇ ਕੋਲ ਕੋਈ ਜਵਾਬ ਨਹੀਂ? ਕੀ ਇਹ ਲੋਕ ਸੱਚ ਆਖ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ?”

⁶³But Jesus held his peace. The high priest answered him, “I adjure you by the living God, that you tell us whether you are the Christ, the Son of God.”

⁶³ਪਰ ਯਿਸੂ ਨੇ ਕੁਝ ਨਾ ਕਿਹਾ। ਦੋਬਾਰਾ ਸਰਦਾਰ ਜਾਜਕ ਨੇ ਯਿਸੂ ਨੂੰ ਪੁੱਛਿਆ, “ਮੈਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਜਿਉਂਦੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੀ ਸੌਂਹ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਦੱਸ, ਕੀ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਮਸੀਹ ਤੂੰ ਹੈਂ?”

⁶⁴Jesus said to him, “You have said it. Nevertheless, I tell you, after this you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of Power, and coming on the clouds of the sky.”

⁶⁴ਯਿਸੂ ਨੇ ਜਵਾਬ ਦਿੱਤਾ, “ਹਾਂ ਮੈਂ ਹੀ ਹਾਂ। ਪਰ ਮੈਂ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਦੱਸਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਭਵਿਖ ਵਿੱਚ, ਤੁਸੀਂ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੇ ਸੱਜੇ ਬੈਠਿਆਂ, ਅਤੇ ਸਵਰਗਾਂ ਦੇ ਬੱਦਲਾਂ ਚੋਂ ਆਉਂਦਿਆਂ ਵੇਖੋਂਗੇ।”

⁶⁵Then the high priest tore his clothing, saying, “He has spoken blasphemy! Why do we need any more witnesses? Behold, now you have heard his blasphemy.

⁶⁵ਜਦੋਂ ਸਰਦਾਰ ਜਾਜਕ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਸੁਣਿਆ ਉਹ ਬਡ਼ੇ ਕਰੋਧ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਇਆ। ਤਾਂ ਉਸਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਕੱਪਡ਼ੇ ਪਾਡ਼ੇ ਅਤੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਇਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਉਹ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਆਖਿਆਂ ਹਨ ਜੋ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੇ ਖਿਲਾਪੰ ਹਨ, ਇਸਲਈ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਹੋਰ ਗਵਾਹੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੋਡ਼ੀਂਦੀ। ਤੁਸੀਂ ਸਭ ਨੇ ਇਸਨੂੰ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੇ ਖਿਲਾਫ਼ ਬੋਲਦਿਆਂ ਸੁਣਿਆ ਹੈ।

⁶⁶What do you think?” They answered, “He is worthy of death!”

⁶⁶ਤੁਹਾਡੀ ਕੀ ਸਲਾਹ ਹੈ?” ਯਹੂਦੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਉੱਤਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ, “ਇਹ ਕਸੂਰਵਾਰ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਮਾਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਜਾਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ।”

⁶⁷Then they spit in his face and beat him with their fists, and some slapped him,

⁶⁷ਤਦ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਯਿਸੂ ਦੇ ਮੂੰਹ ਤੇ ਥੁਕਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਮੁੱਕੇ ਮਾਰੇ। ਹੋਰਨਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਯਿਸੂ ਨੂੰ ਥੱਪਡ਼ ਮਾਰੇ।

⁶⁸saying, “Prophesy to us, you Christ! Who hit you?”

⁶⁸ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਦਿਖਾ ਕਿ ਤੂੰ ਇੱਕ ਨਬੀ ਹੈਂ। ਹੇ ਮਸੀਹ, ਅਗੰਮ ਵਾਕ ਕਰ ਕਿ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਕਿਸਨੇ ਮਾਰਿਆ ਹੈ।”

⁶⁹Now Peter was sitting outside in the court, and a maid came to him, saying, “You were also with Jesus, the Galilean!”

⁶⁹ਉਸ ਸਾਰੇ ਸਮੇਂ ਪਤਰਸ ਵਿਹਡ਼ੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਬੈਠਾ ਰਿਹਾ। ਇੱਕ ਨੋਕਰਾਨੀ ਪਤਰਸ ਕੋਲ ਆਈ ਅਤੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਤੂੰ ਵੀ ਗਲੀਲ ਦੇ ਯਿਸੂ ਨਾਲ ਸੀ।”

⁷⁰But he denied it before them all, saying, “I don’t know what you are talking about.”

⁷⁰ਪਰ ਪਤਰਸ ਨੇ ਇਸਦਾ ਸਭ ਅੱਗੇ ਇਨਕਾਰ ਕੀਤਾ, ਅਤੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਮੈਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਕਿਸ ਬਾਰੇ ਗੱਲ ਕਰ ਰਹੇ ਹੋ।”

⁷¹When he had gone out onto the porch, someone else saw him, and said to those who were there, “This man also was with Jesus of Nazareth.”

⁷¹ਫ਼ੇਰ ਪਤਰਸ ਉਸ ਵਿਹਡ਼ੇ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਹਰ ਚਲਿਆ ਗਿਆ। ਫ਼ਾਟਕ ਕੋਲ ਇੱਕ ਹੋਰ ਨੋਕਰ ਕੁਡ਼ੀ ਨੇ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਵੇਖਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਉਥੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਇਹ ਵੀ ਯਿਸੂ ਨਾਸਰੀ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਸੀ।”

⁷²Again he denied it with an oath, “I don’t know the man.”

⁷²ਫ਼ਿਰ, ਪਤਰਸ ਨੇ ਸੌਂਹ ਖਾਕੇ ਇਹ ਆਖਦਿਆਂ ਇਨਕਾਰ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ, “ਮੈਂ ਇਸ ਆਦਮੀ ਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਣਦਾ।”

⁷³After a little while those who stood by came and said to Peter, “Surely you are also one of them, for your speech makes you known.”

⁷³ਕੁਝ ਦੇਰ ਬਾਦ, ਜੋ ਲੋਕ ਉਥੇ ਖਢ਼ੇ ਸਨ ਉਹ ਪਤਰਸ ਕੋਲ ਆਏ ਅਤੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਤੇਰੇ ਉੱਚਾਰਣ ਤੋਂ ਹੀ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਪਤਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਤੂੰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਇੱਕ ਹੈਂ।”

⁷⁴Then he began to curse and to swear, “I don’t know the man!” Immediately the rooster crowed.

⁷⁴ਤਦ ਉਹ ਖੁਦ ਨੂੰ ਸਰਾਪਣ ਲੱਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਉਸਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਮੈਂ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੀ ਸੌਹ ਖਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਇਸ ਆਦਮੀ ਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਣਦਾ।” ਜਿਵੇਂ ਹੀ ਪਤਰਸ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਆਖਿਆ, ਕੁੱਕਡ਼ ਨੇ ਬਾਂਗ ਦਿੱਤੀ।

⁷⁵Peter remembered the word which Jesus had said to him, “Before the rooster crows, you will deny me three times.” He went out and wept bitterly.

⁷⁵ਤਦ ਪਤਰਸ ਨੂੰ ਯਾਦ ਆਇਆ ਕਿ ਯਿਸੂ ਨੇ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਕੀ ਆਖਿਆ ਸੀ: “ਕਿ ਕੁੱਕਡ਼ ਦੇ ਬਾਂਗ ਦੇਣ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ, ਤੂੰ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਤਿੰਨ ਵਾਰੀ ਜਾਨਣ ਤੋਂ ਇਨਕਾਰ ਕਰੇਂਗਾ।” ਫ਼ੇਰ ਪਤਰਸ ਬਾਹਰ ਗਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਭੁਬ੍ਬਾਂ ਮਾਰਕੇ ਰੋਇਆ।
