¹When he came down from the mountain, great multitudes followed him.

¹ਜਦੋਂ ਉਹ ਪਹਾਡ਼ੀ ਤੋਂ ਉੱਤਰਿਆ ਤਾਂ ਵੱਡੀ ਭੀਡ਼ ਉਸਦੇ ਮਗਰ ਲੱਗ ਪਈ।

²Behold, a leper came to him and worshiped him, saying, “Lord, if you want to, you can make me clean.”

²ਇੱਕ ਕੋਢ਼ੀ ਨੇ ਯਿਸੂ ਕੋਲ ਆਕੇ ਉਸ ਅੱਗੇ ਮਥਾ ਟੇਕਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜੀ ਜੇ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਚਹੋ ਤਾਂ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਠੀਕ ਕਰ ਸਕ੍ਕਦੇ ਹੋਂ।”

³Jesus stretched out his hand, and touched him, saying, “I want to. Be made clean.” Immediately his leprosy was cleansed.

³ਯਿਸੂ ਨੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਹੱਥ ਫ਼ੈਲਾਇਆ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਆਦਮੀ ਨੂੰ ਛੂਹਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਮੈਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਠੀਕ ਕਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੁੰਦਾ ਹਾਂ।” ਅਤੇ ਉਸੇ ਵੇਲੇ ਕੋਢ਼ੀ ਦਾ ਕੋਢ਼ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਰਿਹਾ।

⁴Jesus said to him, “See that you tell nobody, but go, show yourself to the priest, and offer the gift that Moses commanded, as a testimony to them.”

⁴ਤਾਂ ਯਿਸੂ ਨੇ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਹੁਣੇ ਜੋ ਕੁਝ ਵਾਪਰਿਆ ਹੈ ਜਾਕੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਨਾ ਦਸੀਂ, ਪਰ ਜਾਕੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਜਾਜਕ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਖਾਈਂ ਅਤੇ ਮੂਸਾ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਰ੍ਹਾ ਦੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਜਾਕੇ ਭੇਟਾ ਚਢ਼ਾ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਲਈ ਇਹ ਇੱਕ ਸਾਖੀ ਹੋਵੇਗੀ।”

⁵When he came into Capernaum, a centurion came to him, asking him,

⁵ਜਦੋਂ ਯਿਸੂ ਕਫ਼ਰਨਾਹੂਮ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਗਿਆ, ਤਾਂ ਸੂਬੇਦਾਰ ਉਸ ਕੋਲ ਇੱਕ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਲੈਕੇ ਆਇਆ,

⁶and saying, “Lord, my servant lies in the house paralyzed, grievously tormented.”

⁶“ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜੀ ਮੇਰਾ ਨੌਕਰ ਅਧਰੰਗ ਤੇ ਦਰਦ ਦਾ ਮਾਰਿਆ ਘਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਮੰਜੇ ਤੇ ਬਿਮਾਰ ਪਿਆ ਹੈ।”

⁷Jesus said to him, “I will come and heal him.”

⁷ਫ਼ੇਰ ਉਸਨੇ ਸੂਬੇਦਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਮੈਂ ਆਣਕੇ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਚੰਗਾ ਕਰ ਦਿਆਂਗਾ।”

⁸The centurion answered, “Lord, I’m not worthy for you to come under my roof. Just say the word, and my servant will be healed.

⁸ਪਰ ਸੂਬੇਦਾਰ ਨੇ ਉੱਤਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ, “ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜੀ ਮੈਂ ਇਸ ਯੋਗ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਿ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਮੇਰੀ ਛੱਤ ਹੇਠ ਆਵੋ, ਜੇਕਰ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਬਚਨ ਵੀ ਕਰ ਦੇਵੋ ਤਾਂ ਮੇਰਾ ਨੌਕਰ ਚੰਗਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ।

⁹For I am also a man under authority, having under myself soldiers. I tell this one, ‘Go,’ and he goes; and tell another, ‘Come,’ and he comes; and tell my servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.”

⁹ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਵੀ ਦੂਜਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਅਧਿਕਾਰ ਹੇਠਾਂ ਇੱਕ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਹਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਸਿਪਾਹੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਅਧਿਕਾਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਖਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਜੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ‘ਜਾ!’ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਜਦ ਦੂਜੇ ਨੂੰ ਕਹਾਂ, ‘ਆ!’ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਆਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਜਦ ਆਪਾਣੇ ਨੌਕਰ ਨੂੰ ਕਹਿੰਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਇੰਝ ਕਰ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਉਵੇਂ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।”

¹⁰When Jesus heard it, he marveled, and said to those who followed, “Most certainly I tell you, I haven’t found so great a faith, not even in Israel.

¹⁰ਯਿਸੂ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਸੁਣਕੇ ਅਚਰਜ ਮੰਨਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਜਿਹਡ਼ੇ ਮਗਰ-ਮਗਰ ਆਉਂਦੇ ਸਨ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਮੈਂ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਸੱਚ ਆਖਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਇਸ ਆਦਮੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਵੀ ਆਦਮੀ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਵਧ ਆਸਥਾ ਹੈ।

¹¹ I tell you that many will come from the east and the west, and will sit down with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob in the Kingdom of Heaven,

¹¹ਮੈਂ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਆਖਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰੇ ਲੋਕ ਪੂਰਬ ਅਤੇ ਪਛਮ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਆਉਣਗੇ। ਉਹ ਸਵਰਗ ਦੇ ਰਾਜ ਵਿੱਚ ਅਬਰਾਹਾਮ, ਇਸਹਾਕ ਅਤੇ ਯਾਕੂਬ ਨਾਲ ਬੈਠਕੇ ਖਾਣਗੇ।

¹² but the children of the Kingdom will be thrown out into the outer darkness. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.”

¹²ਪਰ ਉਹ ਲੋਕ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕੋਲ ਰਾਜ ਹੋਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ ਬਾਹਰ ਸੁੱਟੇ ਜਾਣਗੇ। ਉਹ ਬਾਹਰ ਹਨੇਰੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੁੱਟੇ ਜਾਣਗੇ, ਲੋਕ ਉਸ ਜਗ੍ਹਾ ਚੀਕਣਗੇ ਅਤੇ ਦਰਦ ਨਾਲ ਆਪਣੇ ਦੰਦ ਪੀਸਣਗੇ।”

¹³Jesus said to the centurion, “Go your way. Let it be done for you as you have believed.” His servant was healed in that hour.

¹³ਤਦ ਯਿਸੂ ਨੇ ਸੂਬੇਦਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਤੂੰ ਘਰ ਜਾ, ਜਿਵੇਂ ਤੂੰ ਆਸਥਾ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਉਵੇਂ ਹੀ ਚੰਗਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ।” ਅਤੇ ਉਸਦਾ ਨੌਕਰ ਉਸੇ ਘਡ਼ੀ ਚੰਗਾ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ।

¹⁴When Jesus came into Peter’s house, he saw his wife’s mother lying sick with a fever.

¹⁴ਯਿਸੂ ਨੇ ਪਤਰਸ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਆਕੇ ਉਸਦੀ ਸੱਸ ਨੂੰ ਤਾਪ ਨਾਲ ਪਈ ਵੇਖਿਆ।

¹⁵He touched her hand, and the fever left her. She got up and served him. TR reads “them” instead of “him”

¹⁵ਤਾਂ ਯਿਸੂ ਨੇ ਉਸਦਾ ਹੱਥ ਛੋਹਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਉਸਦਾ ਤਾਪ ਲਹਿ ਗਿਆ, ਫ਼ੇਰ ਉਸਨੇ ਉਠਕੇ ਉਸਦੀ ਖਾਤਿਰ ਕੀਤੀ।

¹⁶When evening came, they brought to him many possessed with demons. He cast out the spirits with a word, and healed all who were sick;

¹⁶ਜਦੋਂ ਸ਼ਾਮ ਹੋਈ ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਕੋਲ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰੇ ਅਜਿਹੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਲਿਆਇਆ ਗਿਆ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਭੂਤ ਚਿੰਬਡ਼ੇ ਹੋਏ ਸਨ ਅਤੇ ਯਿਸੂ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਬਚਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਭੂਤਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕਢ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਯਿਸੂ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਸਾਰੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਚੰਗਿਆਂ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਜੋ ਬਿਮਾਰ ਸਨ।

¹⁷that it might be fulfilled which was spoken through Isaiah the prophet, saying: “He took our infirmities, and bore our diseases.” Isaiah 53:4

¹⁷ਉਸਨੇ ਇਹ ਨਬੀ ਯਸਾਯਾਹ ਦੇ ਬਚਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪੂਰਾ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਕੀਤਾ: “ਉਸਨੇ ਖੁਦ ਸਾਡੀਆਂ ਬਿਮਾਰੀਆਂ ਲੈ ਲਈਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਰੋਗਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਚੁੱਕ ਲਿਆ।”ਯਸਾਯਾਹ 53:5

¹⁸Now when Jesus saw great multitudes around him, he gave the order to depart to the other side.

¹⁸ਜਦੋਂ ਯਿਸੂ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਲੇ-ਦੁਆਲੇ ਭੀਡ਼ ਵੇਖੀ, ਤਾਂ ਉਸਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਚੇਲਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਝੀਲ ਦੇ ਪਰਲੇ ਪਾਰ ਜਾਣ ਲਈ ਕਿਹਾ।

¹⁹A scribe came, and said to him, “Teacher, I will follow you wherever you go.”

¹⁹ਫ਼ੇਰ ਇੱਕ ਨੇਮ ਦੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ਕ ਨੇ ਯਿਸੂ ਨੂੰ ਕੋਲ ਆਕੇ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਜਿਥੇ ਕਿਤੇ ਵੀ ਤੂੰ ਜਾਵੇਂ ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਪਿਛੇ ਚੱਲਾਂਗਾ।”

²⁰Jesus said to him, “The foxes have holes, and the birds of the sky have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay his head.”

²⁰ਤਾਂ ਯਿਸੂ ਨੇ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਲੂਂਬਡ਼ੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਘੁਰਨੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਪੰਛੀਆਂ ਲਈ ਆਲ੍ਹਣੇ ਹਨ ਪਰ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਰ ਰਖ ਕੇ ਆਰਾਮ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਕੋਈ ਥਾਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ।”

²¹Another of his disciples said to him, “Lord, allow me first to go and bury my father.”

²¹ਉਸਦੇ ਇੱਕ ਦੂਜੇ ਚੇਲੇ ਨੇ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਪ੍ਰਭੂ, ਮੈਨੂੰ ਪਰਵਾਨਗੀ ਦਿਓ ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਜਾਕੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਿਉ ਨੂੰ ਦਫ਼ਨਾਵਾਂ ਫੇਰ ਮੈਂ ਤੁਹਾਡਾ ਅਨੁਸਰਣ ਕਰਾਂਗਾ।”

²²But Jesus said to him, “Follow me, and leave the dead to bury their own dead.”

²²ਪਰ ਯਿਸੂ ਨੇ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਤੂੰ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਗਰ ਚਲਿਆ ਆ ਅਤੇ ਮੁਰਦਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਮੁਰਦੇ ਖੁਦ ਦਬ੍ਬਣ ਦੇ।”

²³When he got into a boat, his disciples followed him.

²³ਜਦੋਂ ਯਿਸੂ ਬੇਡ਼ੀ ਉੱਤੇ ਚਢ਼ਿਆ ਤਾਂ ਉਸਦੇ ਚੇਲੇ ਉਸਦੇ ਮਗਰ ਆਏ।

²⁴Behold, a violent storm came up on the sea, so much that the boat was covered with the waves, but he was asleep.

²⁴ਝੀਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਇੰਨਾ ਤੂਫਾਨ ਆਇਆ ਕਿ ਬੇਡ਼ੀ ਲਹਿਰਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੀ ਲੁਕ੍ਕਦੀ ਜਾ ਰਹੀ ਸੀ। ਪਰ ਯਿਸੂ ਸੌਂ ਰਿਹਾ ਸੀ।

²⁵They came to him, and woke him up, saying, “Save us, Lord! We are dying!”

²⁵ਚੇਲੇ ਉਸ ਕੋਲ ਆਏ ਅਤੇ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਜਗਾਇਆ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਯਿਸੂ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਬਚਾਓ, ਅਸੀਂ ਡੁੱਬ ਰਹੇ ਹਾਂ।”

²⁶He said to them, “Why are you fearful, O you of little faith?” Then he got up, rebuked the wind and the sea, and there was a great calm.

²⁶ਤਾਂ ਉਸਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਤੁਸੀਂ ਇੰਨਾ ਕਿਉਂ ਡਰਦੇ ਹੋ?” ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਪੂਰਾ ਵਿਸ਼ਵਾਸ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ। ਤਦ ਉਸਨੇ ਉਠਕੇ ਹਵਾ ਅਤੇ ਲਹਿਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦਬਕਾ ਮਾਰਿਆ। ਫਿਰ ਇਕਕਦਮ ਚੈਨ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ।

²⁷The men marveled, saying, “What kind of man is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?”

²⁷ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਹੈਰਾਨ ਹੋਕੇ ਬੋਲੇ, “ਇਹ ਕਿਹੋ ਜਿਹਾ ਪੁਰਖ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਹਵਾ ਅਤੇ ਲਹਿਰਾਂ ਵੀ ਇਸਦੀ ਗੱਲ ਮੰਨ ਲੈਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ!”

²⁸When he came to the other side, into the country of the Gergesenes, NU reads “Gadarenes” two people possessed by demons met him there, coming out of the tombs, exceedingly fierce, so that nobody could pass that way.

²⁸ਜਦੋਂ ਯਿਸੂ ਝੀਲ ਦੇ ਪਾਰ ਗਦਰੀਨੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਦੇਸ਼ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਹੁੰਚਿਆ, ਤਾਂ ਦੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਭੂਤ ਚਿੰਬਡ਼ੇ ਹੋਏ ਸਨ, ਕਬਰਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਨਿਕਲ ਕੇ ਯਿਸੂ ਕੋਲ ਆਏ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਇੰਨੇ ਖਤਰਨਾਕ ਸਨ ਕਿ ਉਸ ਰਸਤੇ ਤੋਂ ਕੋਈ ਲੰਘ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ ਸਕ੍ਕਦਾ।

²⁹Behold, they cried out, saying, “What do we have to do with you, Jesus, Son of God? Have you come here to torment us before the time?”

²⁹ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੋ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੇ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਪੁਕਾਰ ਕੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਹੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ! ਤੇਰਾ ਸਾਡੇ ਨਾਲ ਕੀ ਕੰਮ? ਕੀ ਤੂੰ ਮਿਥੇ ਹੋਏ ਵੇਲੇ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਇਥੇ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਦੁਖ ਦੇਣ ਆਇਆ ਹੈ?”

³⁰Now there was a herd of many pigs feeding far away from them.

³⁰ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਕੁਝ ਦੂਰ, ਉਥੇ ਸੂਰਾਂ ਦਾ ਬਹੁਤ ਵੱਡਾ ਇਜ਼ਡ਼ ਚ੍ਚਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਸੀ।

³¹The demons begged him, saying, “If you cast us out, permit us to go away into the herd of pigs.”

³¹ਭੂਤਾਂ ਨੇ ਉਸਦੀਆਂ ਮਿੰਨਤਾਂ ਕਰਕੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਜੇਕਰ ਤੂੰ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਕਢਣਾ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਸੂਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਇੱਜਡ਼ ਵਿੱਚ ਘਲ ਦੇ।”

³²He said to them, “Go!” They came out, and went into the herd of pigs: and behold, the whole herd of pigs rushed down the cliff into the sea, and died in the water.

³²ਉਸਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਜਾਓ” ਤਾਂ ਭੂਤ ਨਿਕਲ ਕੇ ਸੂਰਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਜਾ ਵਡ਼ੇ, ਉਹ ਸੂਰਾਂ ਦਾ ਇਜਜਡ਼ ਪਹਾਡ਼ੀ ਦੀ ਢਲਾਣ ਤੋਂ ਭਜਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਝੀਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਡਿੱਗ ਪਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਡੁੱਬ ਗਿਆ।

³³Those who fed them fled, and went away into the city, and told everything, including what happened to those who were possessed with demons.

³³ਤਦ ਸੂਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਇਜ਼ਡ਼ ਦੇ ਰਖਵਾਲੇ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਅੰਦਰ ਨੂੰ ਭੱਜੇ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਸੂਰਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਭੂਤਾਂ ਦੇ ਕਾਬਿਜ਼ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਵਾਪਰਨ ਵਾਲੀ ਘਟਨਾ ਦਾ ਵਰਨਣ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ।

³⁴Behold, all the city came out to meet Jesus. When they saw him, they begged that he would depart from their borders.

³⁴ਤਦ ਸਾਰਾ ਨਗਰ ਯਿਸੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਣ ਲਈ ਆਇਆ ਅਤੇ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਇਲਾਕਾ ਛਡਣ ਲਈ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਕੀਤੀ।
