14

1You are the children of Yahweh your God: you shall not cut yourselves, nor make any baldness between your eyes for the dead.

2For you are a holy people to Yahweh your God, and Yahweh has chosen you to be a people for his own possession, above all peoples who are on the face of the earth.

3You shall not eat any abominable thing.
3Thil kihhuai himhim na nek ding uh ahi kei.
4These are the animals which you may eat: the ox, the sheep, and the goat,
4Hiai sate khawng ahi, nanek theih ding uh; bawngtal, belam, kel,
5the hart, and the gazelle, and the roebuck, and the wild goat, and the ibex, and the antelope, and the chamois.
5Sakhi, sangai, sakhi tal, sathak, gamkel, gamlawi gam belamte khawng.
6Every animal that parts the hoof, and has the hoof cloven in two and chews the cud, among the animals, that may you eat.
6Huan, sa chiteng, chin kaa chin kapaisuak, eknel hai chi peuhmah laka na thei ding uh,
7Nevertheless these you shall not eat of them that chew the cud, or of those who have the hoof cloven: the camel, and the hare, and the rabbit; because they chew the cud but don’t part the hoof, they are unclean to you.
7Himahleh eknel leng hai ngala, a chin uh leng ka ngalte khawng, na nek ding uh ahi kei; sangawngsau zupi, zusapi, eknel a hai na ua, a chin uh a kat louh jiakin nou adingin a nin ahi:
8The pig, because it has a split hoof but doesn’t chew the cud, is unclean to you: of their flesh you shall not eat, and their carcasses you shall not touch.
8Huan, vok pen a chin jaw a ka naa, eknel a hai louh jiakin nou adingin a nin ahi; a sa na nek ding uh ahi kei hi, a luang leng na khoih ding uh ahi kei hi.
9These you may eat of all that are in the waters: whatever has fins and scales may you eat;

10and whatever doesn’t have fins and scales you shall not eat; it is unclean to you.
10Phe leh lip neilou peuhmahte na ne theikei ding uh, nou adingin nin ahi.
11Of all clean birds you may eat.
11Vasa siangthou tengteng na ne thei ding uh.
12But these are they of which you shall not eat: the eagle, and the vulture, and the osprey,
12Hiaite jaw na ne ding uh ahi kei; muvanlai, mungawnggiau, mu-akla;
13and the red kite, and the falcon, and the kite after its kind,
13Mu sanete bang, mu meikate, mu a chi himhim;
14and every raven after its kind,
14Vaak chi himhim;
15and the ostrich, and the owl, and the seagull, and the hawk after its kind,
15Simbu, janmu, mu chi himhim, tuipimu;
16the little owl, and the great owl, and the horned owl,
16Simbu neu, simbu lian, simbutanglip;
17and the pelican, and the vulture, and the cormorant,
17Vatawt, musane, vangawngsau;
18and the stork, and the heron after its kind, and the hoopoe, and the bat.
18Tuipi, tuiva lian chi himhim, huihtun leh bak.
19All winged creeping things are unclean to you: they shall not be eaten.
19Khe nei khea pai chi himhim nou adingin thil nin ahi uh, nek ding ahi kei.
20Of all clean birds you may eat.
20Vasa siangthou tengteng na ne thei ding uh.
21You shall not eat of anything that dies of itself: you may give it to the foreigner living among you who is within your gates, that he may eat it; or you may sell it to a foreigner: for you are a holy people to Yahweh your God. You shall not boil a young goat in its mother’s milk.
21Amah siha si bangmah na nek ding uh ahi kei; na ompih uh gam dang mite nek dingin na pe thei ding uh; nam dang mite kiang ah leng na juak thei dinguh; nou jaw TOUPA na Pathian uh a dingin nam siangthou na hi uhi. Kelnou bang a pi nawituiin na huan ding uh ahi kei hi.
22You shall surely tithe all the increase of your seed, that which comes forth from the field year by year.
22Kum chihin na lou ua an tung tengteng sawma khat na piak ngeingei ding uh ahi.
23You shall eat before Yahweh your God, in the place which he shall choose, to cause his name to dwell there, the tithe of your grain, of your new wine, and of your oil, and the firstborn of your herd and of your flock; that you may learn to fear Yahweh your God always.
23TOUPA na Pathian uh laudansiam nadan na hontheihgige theih na ding un sawma khat, na buh uh, na uain uh, na thau uh leh na bawng hon uh leh na belam hon lak ua piang masapente TOUPA na Pathian uh maah, a min omna dinga a seh dingah na nek ding uh ahi.
24If the way is too long for you, so that you are not able to carry it, because the place is too far from you, which Yahweh your God shall choose, to set his name there, when Yahweh your God shall bless you;
24TOUPA na Pathian un a honvualjawl chiangin, TOUPA na Pathian un a min omna ding a seh dinga a gamlat luat jiaka nou dinga lampi a sau luate na tawi theih kei uleh:
25then you shall turn it into money, and bind up the money in your hand, and shall go to the place which Yahweh your God shall choose:
25Paihsa na sa ding ua, paihsa na tawi ding ua, TOUPA na Pathian un a mun sehna ah na hoh ding uh ahi:
26and you shall bestow the money for whatever your soul desires, for cattle, or for sheep, or for wine, or for strong drink, or for whatever your soul asks of you; and you shall eat there before Yahweh your God, and you shall rejoice, you and your household.
26Huan, paihsa na lungsim ua na deihpen uh, bawngtal hiam, belam hiam, uain hiam, zupi hiam, na lungsim ua na lunggulh lah peuhmah uh dingin na zang ding ua; huaiah TOUPA na Pathian uh maah na ne ding ua, nuamsa takin na om ding uhi, noute leh na inkote utoh:
27The Levite who is within your gates, you shall not forsake him; for he has no portion nor inheritance with you.
27Na omna ua om Levite limsaklouin om het kei un; na lak uah lah tantuan leng, goutan leng a nei tei ngal kei ua.
28At the end of every three years you shall bring forth all the tithe of your increase in the same year, and shall lay it up within your gates:
28Kum thum a chin kumin huai kuma na thil tung tengteng ua sawma khat pen n ala khawm vek ding ua, na omna ua na koih ding uh ahi:Huan, a omna ua om Levite leng, na lak ua tantuan, goutan leng nei tei loute leh gam dang mite leh pa neiloute leh meithaiten a ne ding ua, a hongkhosa thei sam ding uh; huchiin TOUPA na Pathian un na khut koihna tengteng uh a honvualjawl ding ahi.
29and the Levite, because he has no portion nor inheritance with you, and the foreigner living among you, and the fatherless, and the widow, who are within your gates, shall come, and shall eat and be satisfied; that Yahweh your God may bless you in all the work of your hand which you do.
