Genesis

47

1Then Joseph went in and told Pharaoh, and said, “My father and my brothers, with their flocks, their herds, and all that they own, have come out of the land of Canaan; and behold, they are in the land of Goshen.”
1Huchiin, Joseph in Pharo a vahilh a, a kiangah, kapa te, ka unaute, a belam honte uh, a bawng honte uh, a neih tengteng u toh Kanan gam akipan a hongtung sukta ua: huan, ngaiin, Gosen gamah a om uh, achia.
2From among his brothers he took five men, and presented them to Pharaoh.
2Huan, a unaute laka kipan mi nga a pia, Pharo a theisak a.
3Pharaoh said to his brothers, “What is your occupation?” They said to Pharaoh, “Your servants are shepherds, both we, and our fathers.”
3Huan, Pharo in, a unaute kiangah, bang na sem na hi ua? Achia. Huan, amau. Pharo kiangah, na sikhate, kou honsuangte akipan, belam chingmite ka hi uh, ach ua.
4They said to Pharaoh, “We have come to live as foreigners in the land, for there is no pasture for your servants’ flocks. For the famine is severe in the land of Canaan. Now therefore, please let your servants dwell in the land of Goshen.”
4Huan, amau mahin, Pharo kiangah, hiai gam a om tadih dinga hong ka hi uh; ka gam uah lah na sikhate belam honte a dingin nek ding a om nonta keia; kial lah Kanan gamah a nak kiak mahmah ngala; huchiin hehpihtakin na sikhate Gosen gamah hon omsakin, achi ua.
5Pharaoh spoke to Joseph, saying, “Your father and your brothers have come to you.
5Huan, Pharo in, Joseph a houpiha, na pa leh na unaute na kiangah a hongta ua:
6The land of Egypt is before you. Make your father and your brothers dwell in the best of the land. Let them dwell in the land of Goshen. If you know any able men among them, then put them in charge of my livestock.”
6Aigupta gam a kiching mahmah hi; na pa leh na unaute gam hoihna tata ah tengsak ve: huan, a lak ua mi thilhihthei tak theihna nei ngial om lehouh ka gan tunga heutu dingin bawl in, achia.
7Joseph brought in Jacob, his father, and set him before Pharaoh, and Jacob blessed Pharaoh.
7Huan, Joseph in apa Jakob a pi luta, Pharo maah a dingsak a: huchiin Jakob in Pharo a vualjawl a.
8Pharaoh said to Jacob, “How many are the days of the years of your life?”
8Huan, Pharo in Jakob kiangah, kum bangzah na hita a? Achia.
9Jacob said to Pharaoh, “The days of the years of my pilgrimage are one hundred thirty years. Few and evil have been the days of the years of my life, and they have not attained to the days of the years of the life of my fathers in the days of their pilgrimage.”
9Huan, Jakob in, Pharo kiangah, ka khualzin nung jaw kum ja leh kum sawm thum ahia: ka damsung kumte khawng a tomin, a haksa ahi, a honsuangte a khualzin lai ua a damsung kum u leng pha zou kei ing achia.
10Jacob blessed Pharaoh, and went out from the presence of Pharaoh.
10Huan, Jakobin Pharo a vualjawl nawna, Pharo kianga kipanin a pawtta hi.
11Joseph placed his father and his brothers, and gave them a possession in the land of Egypt, in the best of the land, in the land of Rameses, as Pharaoh had commanded.
11Huchiin, Joseph in apa leh a unaute tenna a bawlsaka, Pharo thupiak bangin Aigupta gama, gam hoihpen takah, Ramases gam a gou dingin a peta hi.
12Joseph nourished his father, his brothers, and all of his father’s household, with bread, according to their families.
12Huan. Joseph in apa leh a unaute leh apa inkuanpihte tengteng a inkuan u bangjelin nek ding a pia a, a vakta hi.
13There was no bread in all the land; for the famine was very severe, so that the land of Egypt and the land of Canaan fainted by reason of the famine.
13Huan, huai gam tengteng ah nek ding himhim a om takei a; kial lah a nak kiak mahmah ngala, huchiin kial jiakin Aigupta gam leh Kanan gam a bahta hi.
14Joseph gathered up all the money that was found in the land of Egypt, and in the land of Canaan, for the grain which they bought: and Joseph brought the money into Pharaoh’s house.
14Huan, Joseph in, a buh leina man un, Aigupta gam leh Kanan gam a dangka om tengteng a khawmsak veka; huan, Joseph in huai dangka Pharo in ah a tawi a.
15When the money was all spent in the land of Egypt, and in the land of Canaan, all the Egyptians came to Joseph, and said, “Give us bread, for why should we die in your presence? For our money fails.”
15Huan, Aigupta gam leh Kanan gama dangka tengteng a zat bei khit un, Aigupta mi tengteng Joseph kiangah a hong ua, nek ding honpia in aw; na ma a si maimah ding ka hi ding uam? Dangka lah om nawnta ngal kei a, achi ua.
16Joseph said, “Give me your livestock; and I will give you food for your livestock, if your money is gone.”
16Huan, Joseph in, na gante uh honpe mei un; dangka a om nawn kei leh na gan man un nek ding ka honpe ding, achia.
17They brought their livestock to Joseph, and Joseph gave them bread in exchange for the horses, and for the flocks, and for the herds, and for the donkeys: and he fed them with bread in exchange for all their livestock for that year.
17Huchiin, a gante uh Joseph kiangah a honpi ua: huan, Joseph in huai sakol man ding leh, belam hon man ding leh, bawng hon man ding leh sabengtung man dingin dek ding a pe jela: huai kumin a gan tengteng uh man in nek ding a pia a, a vak chiat hi.
18When that year was ended, they came to him the second year, and said to him, “We will not hide from my lord how our money is all spent, and the herds of livestock are my lord’s. There is nothing left in the sight of my lord, but our bodies, and our lands.
18Huan, huai kum a bei a, kum a hong thak nawn in a kiangah a hong nawn ua, a kiangah, ka dangka tengteng uh ka zat beitak dan u leh, pu aw, ka ganhon te uh nanga a hihtak dan bang, pu aw, nang lakah ka im kei ding uh; pu aw, na mit muhin ka pumpi u leh ka gamte uh kialou bangmah a omta mahmah kei hi:
19Why should we die before your eyes, both we and our land? Buy us and our land for bread, and we and our land will be servants to Pharaoh. Give us seed, that we may live, and not die, and that the land won’t be desolate.”
19Na ma ah kou leh ka gam uh mangthang maimah ding hi ve ung maw? Koumau mah ka gam u toh nek dingin honlei maiin, huchiin, koumau leh ka gam uh Pharo sikhate hi mai nung: huan, silou a mi hinga dama ka om theihna ding un, gam a siatlouh na ding, buh chi honpia in, achi ua.
20So Joseph bought all the land of Egypt for Pharaoh, for every man of the Egyptians sold his field, because the famine was severe on them, and the land became Pharaoh’s.
20Huchiin, Joseph in Pharo a dingin Aigupta gam tengteng a leisak ta a; kial a tung ua a nak tun mahmah jiakin Aigupta miten lah a lou uh a juak chiat ngal ua; huchiin gam Pharo a ahi vekta.

21Mite Aigupta gamgi tawp khatlam a kipanin khatlam tawp phain, khuate ah a kisuansakta a.
22Only he didn’t buy the land of the priests, for the priests had a portion from Pharaoh, and ate their portion which Pharaoh gave them. That is why they didn’t sell their land.
22Siampu te gam kia a lei keia: siamputen Pharo akipan tantuan a nei ua, Pharo in a piak atantuan uh a ne jel ua; huaijiak in a gam uh a juak kei uhi.
23Then Joseph said to the people, “Behold, I have bought you and your land today for Pharaoh. Behold, here is seed for you, and you shall sow the land.
23Huai nungin, Joseph in, mite kiangah, ngai un, tunin na gam utoh noute Pharo a dingin ka honleita a: hiai, hiaiah nou a dingin buh chi a om, lei ah na ching ding ua.

25Huan, amau, nang ka hinna uh na humbitta: pu aw, honhehpih inla, Pharo sikhate ka hi mai ding uh, achi ua.
26Joseph made it a statute concerning the land of Egypt to this day, that Pharaoh should have the fifth. Only the land of the priests alone didn’t become Pharaoh’s.
26Huchiin, Joseph in Pharo in seh nga suah seh khat a muh jel ding thu, Aigupta gam a dingin tutanin danin a bawlta hi: siampute gam kia ahi, Pharo a hilou.
27Israel lived in the land of Egypt, in the land of Goshen; and they got themselves possessions therein, and were fruitful, and multiplied exceedingly.

28Jacob lived in the land of Egypt seventeen years. So the days of Jacob, the years of his life, were one hundred forty-seven years.
28Huan, Jakob bel Aigupta gamah kum sawm leh kum sagih a om a: huchiin, Jakob damsung kum kum ja leh kum sawm li leh kum sagih a hita hi.
29The time drew near that Israel must die, and he called his son Joseph, and said to him, “If now I have found favor in your sight, please put your hand under my thigh, and deal kindly and truly with me. Please don’t bury me in Egypt,
29Huan, Israel sihna hun a hiongnaita a: huchiin, a tapa Joseph a sama. A kiangah, na honhehpih theih leh, hehpihtak in huai na khut ka pheipi nuaiah golh inla, hon hehpihin, ka tungah chihtaktakin hih in: hehpihtakin Aigupta gamah honvui mahmah ken;
30but when I sleep with my fathers, you shall carry me out of Egypt, and bury me in their burying place.” He said, “I will do as you have said.”
30Hon suangte kianga ka ihmut hun chiangin, nang Aigupta gam akipan na hon jawngkhe dinga, amaute vuina mun ah na honvui zaw ding ahi, achia. 31He said, “Swear to me,” and he swore to him. Israel bowed himself on the bed’s head.
31Huan, aman, ka kiangah kichiamin leh, achia: huchiin, a kiangah a kichiamta hi. Huan, Israel lukhung siin a kunta a.
