Jeremiah

14

1The word of Yahweh that came to Jeremiah concerning the drought.
1Khokheng tungtanga Jeremia kianga TOUPA thu hongtung:
2Judah mourns, and its gates languish, they sit in black on the ground; and the cry of Jerusalem is gone up.
2Judain a sun-a, a kulh kongpite a ngui; leiah puan vom khuin a kun ua, Jerusalem kah ging a tungkah.
3Their nobles send their little ones to the waters: they come to the cisterns, and find no water; they return with their vessels empty; they are disappointed and confounded, and cover their heads.
3A mi hoihten a sikhate uh tui a tawisak ua, tuichin a juan ua, tui a mu kei ua, a tuibel uh hawmin a kik ua; a lungdong ua, gending a theikei ua, a lu uh a khuh ua.
4Because of the ground which is cracked, because no rain has been in the land, the plowmen are disappointed, they cover their heads.
4Lei lah a khanga, gam puma vuahtui a om louh jiakin, leiletmite a lungdong ua, a lu uh a khuh ua.
5Yes, the hind also in the field calves, and forsakes her young, because there is no grass.
5A hi, zukpiin leng pawnah nou a neia, a taisan ve, lou hing a omlouh jiakin.
6The wild donkeys stand on the bare heights, they pant for air like jackals; their eyes fail, because there is no herbage.
6Gam sabengtungte mualvum khengah a ding ua, awle bangin huihkhua ngaiin a nak huhu ua; peh ding om louh jiakin a mit uh a mial dundun hi.
7Though our iniquities testify against us, work for your name’s sake, Yahweh; for our backslidings are many; we have sinned against you.
7Ka thulimlouhna un honhek mahleh na min jiakin aw TOUPA hongkuan in; ka puknate uh lah a tamta ngala, na tungah mahmah thil ka nahih khial uhi.
8You hope of Israel, its Savior in the time of trouble, why should you be as a foreigner in the land, and as a wayfaring man who turns aside to stay for a night?
8Aw nang Israelte lamet, mangbat laia hondampa, bangdia hiai gama mikhual bang jena jan khat giaka zin bang lela om na hia?
9Why should you be like a scared man, as a mighty man who can’t save? Yet you, Yahweh, are in the midst of us, and we are called by your name; don’t leave us.
9Bangdia mi lungke gawp bang phet leh pasalpha, hondam thei kol lou bang lela om na hia? Himahleh nang jaw, aw TOUPA, ka lak uah na om laia, na min ka pu ua, honpaisan ken.
10Thus says Yahweh to this people, Even so have they loved to wander; they have not refrained their feet: therefore Yahweh does not accept them; now he will remember their iniquity, and visit their sins.
10TOUPAN hiai mite tungtang ah hichiin a chi: Vakmang a ut nak ua, a kalsuan uh a kidek kei uh; huchiin TOUPAN amau a pom keia, a thulimlouhna uh a theigige ta dinga, a khelhna uh a gawt ding.
11Yahweh said to me, Don’t pray for this people for their good.
11TOUPAN ka kiangah, Hiai mite hoihna ding ngetsak ken.
12When they fast, I will not hear their cry; and when they offer burnt offering and meal offering, I will not accept them; but I will consume them by the sword, and by the famine, and by the pestilence.
12An ngawl mahle uh a kikou uh ka ngaikhe kei dinga, halmang leh buhbal thillat lan mahle uh ka dawng kei ding; namsau te, kial te, hipi tein amau ka hihmang zo ding, a chi hi.
13Then I said, Ah, Lord Yahweh! behold, the prophets tell them, You shall not see the sword, neither shall you have famine; but I will give you assured peace in this place.
13Huan, ken, Eh, Toupa Pathian, ngaidih, a kiang uah jawlneiten, Namsau na tuak kei ding ua, kial leng na thuak sak kei ding uh, hiai muhah muan mahmahna ka honpe zo ding hi, lah a chi sek ngal ua, ka chi a.
14Then Yahweh said to me, The prophets prophesy lies in my name; I didn’t send them, neither have I commanded them, neither spoke I to them: they prophesy to you a lying vision, and divination, and a thing of nothing, and the deceit of their own heart.
14Huan, TOUPAN ka kiangah, Jawlneiten ka mina juau a gen jel eive ua leh; amau ka sawl keia, thu ka khak keia, ka houpih sam keia, ka houpih sam kei hi. Thil a muh khol louhte uh, aisan bangmaha pangloute leh a lungsim dohate uh honhilh eive ua, achia.
15Therefore thus says Yahweh concerning the prophets who prophesy in my name, and I didn’t send them, yet they say, Sword and famine shall not be in this land: By sword and famine shall those prophets be consumed.
15Huaijiakin TOUPAN hichiin a chi: Ka sawl khol louha ka min loua, Hiai gamah kial leh namsau a tung kei ding, chia genmi huai jawlneite namsau leh kialin a mangthang ding uh.
16The people to whom they prophesy shall be cast out in the streets of Jerusalem because of the famine and the sword; and they shall have none to bury them—them, their wives, nor their sons, nor their daughters: for I will pour their wickedness on them.
16Huan, a thugen uh nana tang nam leng kial leh namsau jiakin Jerusalem kongzingah paihkhiak ahi ding ua, a tanute uh a tapate uhtoh, vuimi himhim a neikei ding uh. A thulimlouhna uh amau tungah ka sung sin ngala.
17You shall say this word to them, Let my eyes run down with tears night and day, and let them not cease; for the virgin daughter of my people is broken with a great breach, with a very grievous wound.
17Huan, a kiang ua hiai thu na gen ding ahi; Sun leh janin ka khitui luang hen, hul himhim kei hen, ka mi, ka tanu nungak siangthouin nakpia liamna a tuak hi, khutkhak na mahmah.
18If I go forth into the field, then, behold, the slain with the sword! and if I enter into the city, then, behold, those who are sick with famine! for both the prophet and the priest go about in the land, and have no knowledge.
18Ka gam pawt leh, maijen, namsaua thahte! Khopi a alut leh, maijen, kialpi-misi! gam chihah jawlneite, siampute a tamvak chiat ua, a dan mahmah a theikei uh, chiin.
19Have you utterly rejected Judah? has your soul loathed Zion? why have you struck us, and there is no healing for us? We looked for peace, but no good came; and for a time of healing, and behold, dismay!
19Juda pai khe siang na hi maw? Zion kih na hi maw? kou dia hihdamna om lou bikbeka bangdia honthuaksak oi? muanna ka zong ua, hoihna bangmah a hongtung kei; hihdamna hun ding leng, ngaidih khaphamna lel.
20We acknowledge, Yahweh, our wickedness, and the iniquity of our fathers; for we have sinned against you.
20Aw TOUPA, ka thulimlouhdan uh a kitheihmohbawl kei uhi, ka pipute uh ginatlouhna toh, na tungah lah ka hihkhialta ngal ua.
21Do not abhor us, for your name’s sake; do not disgrace the throne of your glory: remember, don’t break your covenant with us.
22Are there any among the vanities of the nations that can cause rain? or can the sky give showers? Aren’t you he, Yahweh our God? therefore we will wait for you; for you have made all these things.
22Nam dang pathiante lakah vuah zusak thei a om uhia? ahihleh, vanin vuahpi a tungsak thei hia? aw TOUPA ka Pathian uh, huai pen nang na hi kei maw? hiai thil tengteng na hih ahi ngala, ka lamet uh nang na hi hi.
