¹Yahweh spoke to Moses in the plains of Moab by the Jordan at Jericho, saying,

²“Command the children of Israel that they give to the Levites of the inheritance of their possession cities to dwell in; and you shall give suburbs for the cities around them to the Levites.

³The cities shall they have to dwell in; and their suburbs shall be for their livestock, and for their substance, and for all their animals.

³Khuate a omna ding uh ahi ding a, a kimte khawng bel bawng leh a gante uh, a gan vulh tengteng uh a ding ahi ding.

⁴“The suburbs of the cities, which you shall give to the Levites, shall be from the wall of the city and outward one thousand cubits around it.

⁴Huan, dainawl Levite na piak ding kho kulh a kipan tong sangkhat a sau ahi ding ahi.

⁵You shall measure outside of the city for the east side two thousand cubits, and for the south side two thousand cubits, and for the west side two thousand cubits, and for the north side two thousand cubits, the city being in the midst. This shall be to them the suburbs of the cities.

⁵Huan, kulh polam a kipan in na teh ding a, suah lam pang ah tong sangnih, mal lam pang ah tong sangnih, khua lai tak a om in. Hiai amau dainawl tuam ahi ding.

⁶“The cities which you shall give to the Levites, they shall be the six cities of refuge, which you shall give for the manslayer to flee to: and besides them you shall give forty-two cities.

⁶Huan, Levite na piak ding khuate tualthatte taina ding kihumbitna khopi guk ahi ding a; huaite lou kho sawmli leh kho nih na piak lai ding ahi.

⁷All the cities which you shall give to the Levites shall be forty-eight cities together with their suburbs.

⁷Levite na piak ding khua tengteng kho sawmli leh kho giat ahi ding: dainawl toh na piak ding ahi.

⁸Concerning the cities which you shall give of the possession of the children of Israel, from the many you shall take many; and from the few you shall take few: everyone according to his inheritance which he inherits shall give of his cities to the Levites.”

⁹Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying,

¹⁰“Speak to the children of Israel, and tell them, ‘When you pass over the Jordan into the land of Canaan,

¹²The cities shall be to you for refuge from the avenger, that the manslayer not die, until he stands before the congregation for judgment.

¹³The cities which you shall give shall be for you six cities of refuge.

¹³Huchi in, nou a ding a kihumbitna ding na sehte uh khopi guk ahi ding.

¹⁴You shall give three cities beyond the Jordan, and you shall give three cities in the land of Canaan; they shall be cities of refuge.

¹⁴Jordan galah khopi thum na sep ding ua, Kanan gamah khopi thum na sep ding ua, kihumbitna khopite ahi ding uh.

¹⁵For the children of Israel, and for the stranger and for the foreigner living among them, shall these six cities be for refuge; that everyone who kills any person unwittingly may flee there.

¹⁶“‘But if he struck him with an instrument of iron, so that he died, he is a murderer: the murderer shall surely be put to death.

¹⁶Himahleh sik zang a mi a sual a, a sih leh tualthat ahi a: tualthat bel hihlup ngeingei ding ahi.

¹⁷If he struck him with a stone in the hand, by which a man may die, and he died, he is a murderer: the murderer shall surely be put to death.

¹⁷Huan, si khop a suang a mi a den a a sih leh tualthat ahi a, tualthat bel hihlup ngeingei ding ahi.

¹⁸Or if he struck him with a weapon of wood in the hand, by which a man may die, and he died, he is a murderer: the murderer shall surely be put to death.

¹⁸Huan, si khop a mi sing a a sat a, a sih leh tualthat ahi a, tualthat bel hihlup ngeingei ding ahi.

¹⁹The avenger of blood shall himself put the murderer to death: when he meets him, he shall put him to death.

¹⁹Sisan phula mi'n tualthat mi a that pah mai ding: a muh peuh chiang in a hihlum ding ahi.

²⁰If he thrust him of hatred, or hurled at him, lying in wait, so that he died,

²⁰Huan, mi a huat ziak a a sawm ek hiam, na guk tan a a den hiam a a sih in hiam,

²¹or in enmity struck him with his hand, so that he died; he who struck him shall surely be put to death; he is a murderer: the avenger of blood shall put the murderer to death, when he meets him.

²¹Kiselna ziak a tuplup hiam a hihleh, a hihlum mi pen hihlup ngei ding ahi.

²²“‘But if he thrust him suddenly without enmity, or hurled on him anything without lying in wait,

²³or with any stone, by which a man may die, not seeing him, and cast it on him, so that he died, and he was not his enemy, neither sought his harm;

²⁴then the congregation shall judge between the striker and the avenger of blood according to these ordinances;

²⁴Omkhawmte'n hiai vaihawmna dan bang in a hihlum mi leh sisan phula mi vai a hawm sak ding uh ahi:

²⁵and the congregation shall deliver the manslayer out of the hand of the avenger of blood, and the congregation shall restore him to his city of refuge, where he was fled: and he shall dwell therein until the death of the high priest, who was anointed with the holy oil.

²⁵Huan, omkhawmte'n tualthat mi sisan phula mi lak a kipan a honkhe ding ua, omkhawmte'n a taina, kihumbitna khua ah a omsak nawn ding ua, sathau siangthou nilh siampu lian a sih mateng huailai ah a om ding hi.

²⁶“‘But if the manslayer shall at any time go beyond the border of his city of refuge, where he flees,

²⁶Himahleh chiklai peuh in tualthat mi a tai na, a kihumbitna kho gamgi po lam a pai a;

²⁷and the avenger of blood find him outside of the border of his city of refuge, and the avenger of blood kill the manslayer; he shall not be guilty of blood,

²⁷Sisan phula mi in a kihumbitna kho po lam a a muh a sisan phula mi in a thah leh sisan ah moh a tang kei ding;

²⁸because he should have remained in his city of refuge until the death of the high priest: but after the death of the high priest the manslayer shall return into the land of his possession.

²⁸Siampu lian a sih mateng a kihumbitna khua om gige ding a hihziak in; siampu a sih nung in bel tualthat mi a omna gam a pai nawn ding ahi.

²⁹“‘These things shall be for a statute and ordinance to you throughout your generations in all your dwellings.

²⁹Hiai thilte na suante uh tan a na omna peuh ua na vaihawm dan ding uh ahi.

³⁰“‘Whoever kills any person, the murderer shall be slain at the mouth of witnesses: but one witness shall not testify against any person that he die.

³⁰Kuapeuh in mi a thah leh tualthat mi pen theihpihte kam a kipan thupawt a hihlup ding ahi: himahleh theihpih khat zaw mi hihlupna ding in a hun kei.

³¹“‘Moreover you shall take no ransom for the life of a murderer who is guilty of death; but he shall surely be put to death.

³¹Huan, tualthat mi zaw na tat ding uh ahi kei, sihna khop dia moh ahi a, hihlup ngei ding ahi zaw.

³²“‘You shall take no ransom for him who is fled to his city of refuge, that he may come again to dwell in the land, until the death of the priest.

³²Huan, siampu sih ma in, a kihumbitna khua a tai, a gam a om nawn ding a tatna na lak ding uh ahi kei.

³³“‘So you shall not pollute the land in which you are: for blood, it pollutes the land; and no expiation can be made for the land for the blood that is shed therein, but by the blood of him who shed it.

³³Huchi in na omna gam uh na hih thanghuai kei ding ua, sisan in gam a hih thanghuai leh sisan suahna gam hih thanghuai silna di'n a suahmi sisan kia lou lah zat theih ahi ngal kei a.Na omna gam uh, ka omna na hih thanghuai ding uh ahi kei; kei TOUPA lah Israel suante lak ah ka om ngal a, chi in, chi in.

³⁴You shall not defile the land which you inhabit, in the midst of which I dwell: for I, Yahweh, dwell in the midst of the children of Israel.’”
