¹Then all Israel gathered themselves to David to Hebron, saying, “Behold, we are your bone and your flesh.

¹ آنگاه همهٔ قوم اسرائیل در حبرون نزد داوود گرد هم آمدند و گفتند: «ما گوشت و استخوان تو هستیم،

²In times past, even when Saul was king, it was you who led out and brought in Israel. Yahweh your God said to you, ‘You shall be shepherd of my people Israel, and you shall be prince over my people Israel.’”

² حتّی هنگامی‌که شائول پادشاه ما بود، تو سپاه ما را در جنگها رهبری کردی و خداوند خدای تو به تو فرمود: تو شبان قوم من، اسرائیل خواهی بود و پیشوای آنها خواهی شد.»

³So all the elders of Israel came to the king to Hebron; and David made a covenant with them in Hebron before Yahweh; and they anointed David king over Israel, according to the word of Yahweh by Samuel.

³ پس تمام رهبران قوم اسرائیل نزد پادشاه در حبرون رفتند و داوود در پیشگاه خداوند در حبرون با ایشان پیمان بست و ایشان داوود را طبق کلام خداوند به سموئیل به پادشاهی اسرائیل مسح کردند.

⁴David and all Israel went to Jerusalem (the same is Jebus); and the Jebusites, the inhabitants of the land, were there.

⁴ داوود و همهٔ قوم اسرائیل به اورشلیم حمله کردند که در آن زمان آن را یبوس می‌نامیدند و ساکنان اوّلیه آن، یبوسیان هنوز در آنجا ساکن بودند.

⁵The inhabitants of Jebus said to David, “You shall not come in here.” Nevertheless David took the stronghold of Zion. The same is the city of David.

⁵ یبوسیان به داوود گفتند، او هرگز وارد شهر نخواهد شد، امّا داوود قلعهٔ صهیون را تسخیر کرد، سپس آنجا را شهر داوود نامیدند.

⁶David said, “Whoever strikes the Jebusites first shall be chief and captain.” Joab the son of Zeruiah went up first, and was made chief.

⁶ داوود گفت: «هرکس اولین یبوسی را بکشد، فرمانده ارتش خواهد شد.» یوآب، که مادرش صرویه بود، حمله را آغاز کرد و فرمانده شد.

⁷David lived in the stronghold; therefore they called it the city of David.

⁷ چون داوود در قلعه زندگی می‌کرد، پس آنجا را شهر داوود نامیدند.

⁸He built the city all around, from Millo even around; and Joab repaired the rest of the city.

⁸ از قسمت شرقی تپّه که زمینهای گود را پر کرده بودند او آغاز به بازسازی شهر کرد و یوآب بقیّهٔ شهر را بازسازی نمود.

⁹David grew greater and greater; for Yahweh of Armies was with him.

⁹ داوود روز به روز نیرومندتر شد؛ زیرا خداوند قادر متعال با او بود.

¹⁰Now these are the chief of the mighty men whom David had, who showed themselves strong with him in his kingdom, together with all Israel, to make him king, according to the word of Yahweh concerning Israel.

¹⁰ این است نامهای رهبران مردان توانای داوود، که با همهٔ مردم اسرائیل طبق کلام خداوند از پادشاهی داوود پشتیبانی کردند.

¹¹This is the number of the mighty men whom David had: Jashobeam, the son of a Hachmonite, the chief of the thirty; he lifted up his spear against three hundred and killed them at one time.

¹¹ این است آمار مردان توانای داوود: یشبعام حَکمونی فرماندهٔ آن سه افسر مشهور، او نیزهٔ خود را علیه سیصد نفر بلند کرد و همه را کشت.

¹²After him was Eleazar the son of Dodo, the Ahohite, who was one of the three mighty men.

¹² شخص دوم میان آن سه افسر العازار، پسر دودو از خاندان اخوح بود.

¹³He was with David at Pasdammim, and there the Philistines were gathered together to battle, where there was a plot of ground full of barley; and the people fled from before the Philistines.

¹³ هنگامی‌که فلسطینی‌ها در فَسدَمیم برای جنگ جمع شده بودند، او با داوود بود. در آنجا کشتزار جو بود و مردان از دست فلسطینی‌ها گریختند.

¹⁴They stood in the midst of the plot, and defended it, and killed the Philistines; and Yahweh saved them by a great victory.

¹⁴ امّا او و افرادش در کشتزار جو ایستادگی کردند و از آن دفاع نمودند. و فلسطینی‌ها را کشتند و خداوند با پیروزی بزرگی ایشان را رهانید.

¹⁵Three of the thirty chief men went down to the rock to David, into the cave of Adullam; and the army of the Philistines were encamped in the valley of Rephaim.

¹⁵ هنگامی‌که ارتش فلسطین در دشت رفائیم اردو زده بود، سه نفر از سی نفر فرمانده نزد داوود به غار عدُلام رفتند.

¹⁶David was then in the stronghold, and the garrison of the Philistines was then in Bethlehem.

¹⁶ در آن زمان داوود در پناهگاه بود و پادگان فلسطینی‌ها در بیت‌لحم بود.

¹⁷David longed, and said, “Oh that one would give me water to drink of the well of Bethlehem, which is by the gate!”

¹⁷ داوود با حسرت گفت: «ای کاش کسی از چاهی که در نزدیکی دروازهٔ بیت‌لحم است به من آبی برای نوشیدن می‌داد.»

¹⁸The three broke through the army of the Philistines, and drew water out of the well of Bethlehem, that was by the gate, and took it, and brought it to David: but David would not drink of it, but poured it out to Yahweh,

¹⁸ آنگاه آن سه دلاور از پادگان فلسطینی‌ها گذشتند و از چاهی‌ که نزدیک بیت‌لحم بود آب کشیدند و آن را نزد داوود آوردند. امّا داوود آن را ننوشید، او آن را برای خداوند ریخت.

¹⁹and said, “My God forbid it me, that I should do this! Shall I drink the blood of these men who have put their lives in jeopardy?” For they risked their lives to bring it. Therefore he would not drink it. The three mighty men did these things.

¹⁹ و گفت: «من هرگز نمی‌توانم این را بنوشم، این مانند نوشیدن خون این مردان است که جان خود را به خطر انداختند!» پس او نپذیرفت که آن را بنوشد. کارهای شجاعانه این سه سرباز شجاع چنین بود.

²⁰Abishai, the brother of Joab, he was chief of the three; for he lifted up his spear against three hundred and killed them, and had a name among the three.

²⁰ ابیشای، برادر یوآب فرمانده آن سی نفر بود. او با سیصد مرد جنگید و با نیزه خود آنها را کشت و هم‌ردیف آن سه نفر مشهور بود.

²¹Of the three, he was more honorable than the two, and was made their captain: however he didn’t attain to the three.

²¹ او از همهٔ سی نفر مشهورتر بود و رهبر ایشان شد. امّا شهرت او به پای آن سه نفر نمی‌رسید.

²²Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, the son of a valiant man of Kabzeel, who had done mighty deeds, he killed the two sons of Ariel of Moab: he went down also and killed a lion in the midst of a pit in time of snow.

²² بنایاهو، پسر یهویاداع، اهل قبصیئیل، سرباز معروفی بود. او کارهای شجاعانه فراوانی کرد. از جمله کشتن دو جنگجوی بزرگ موآبی، او یک‌بار در یک روز برفی به گودالی وارد شد و شیری را کشت.

²³He killed an Egyptian, a man of great stature, five cubits high; and in the Egyptian’s hand was a spear like a weaver’s beam; and he went down to him with a staff, and plucked the spear out of the Egyptian’s hand, and killed him with his own spear.

²³ او همچنین یک مصری را کشت، مرد بزرگی که قدش دو متر و نیم بود و نیزه‌ای به اندازهٔ چوب نساجان در دست داشت. بنایا با چوب‌دستی به او حمله کرد و نیزه‌اش را از دستش گرفت و مصری را با آن کشت.

²⁴Benaiah the son of Jehoiada did these things, and had a name among the three mighty men.

²⁴ این بود شجاعت‌های بنایاهو، او یکی از سی نفر بود.

²⁵Behold, he was more honorable than the thirty, but he didn’t attain to the three: and David set him over his guard.

²⁵ او در میان سی نفر بارز بود امّا مانند آن سه نفر مشهور نبود. داوود او را به رهبری محافظین خود گمارد.

²⁶Also the mighty men of the armies: Asahel the brother of Joab, Elhanan the son of Dodo of Bethlehem,

²⁶ مردان شجاع ارتش عبارتند از: عسائیل، برادر یوآب؛ الحانان، پسر دودی بیت‌لحمی؛

²⁷Shammoth the Harorite, Helez the Pelonite,

²⁷ شمهٔ حرودی، خالَص فلونی؛

²⁸Ira the son of Ikkesh the Tekoite, Abiezer the Anathothite,

²⁸ عیرا، پسر عقیش تقوعی؛ ابیعزر عناتوتی؛

²⁹Sibbecai the Hushathite, Ilai the Ahohite,

²⁹ سبکای حوشاتی؛ عیلای اخوخی؛

³⁰Maharai the Netophathite, Heled the son of Baanah the Netophathite,

³⁰ مهرای نطوفاتی؛ حالب، پسر بعنه نطوفاتی؛

³¹Ithai the son of Ribai of Gibeah of the children of Benjamin, Benaiah the Pirathonite,

³¹ اتای، پسر ریبای از جبعه بنیامین؛ بنایاهوی فرعاتونی؛

³²Hurai of the brooks of Gaash, Abiel the Arbathite,

³² حورای از وادیهای جاعش؛ ابیئیل عرباتی؛

³³Azmaveth the Baharumite, Eliahba the Shaalbonite,

³³ عزموت برحومی؛ الیحبای شعلبونی؛

³⁴the sons of Hashem the Gizonite, Jonathan the son of Shagee the Hararite,

³⁴ پسران هاشم جزونی؛ یوناتان، پسر شاجای هراری؛

³⁵Ahiam the son of Sacar the Hararite, Eliphal the son of Ur,

³⁵ اخیام، پسر ساکار حراری؛ الیفال، پسر اور؛

³⁶Hepher the Mecherathite, Ahijah the Pelonite,

³⁶ حافر مکیراتی؛ اخیای فلونی؛

³⁷Hezro the Carmelite, Naarai the son of Ezbai,

³⁷ حصرون کرملی؛ نعرای، پسر ازبای؛

³⁸Joel the brother of Nathan, Mibhar the son of Hagri,

³⁹Zelek the Ammonite, Naharai the Berothite, the armor bearer of Joab the son of Zeruiah,

³⁹ صالق عمونی؛ نحرای بئیروتی سلاحدار یوآب، پسر صرویه؛

⁴⁰Ira the Ithrite, Gareb the Ithrite,

⁴⁰ عیرای یتری؛ جارَب یتری؛

⁴¹Uriah the Hittite, Zabad the son of Ahlai,

⁴¹ اوریای حِتّی؛ زاباد، پسر احلای؛

⁴²Adina the son of Shiza the Reubenite, a chief of the Reubenites, and thirty with him,

⁴² عَدینا، پسر شیزای رئوبینی سرکرده رئوبینیان و سی نفر همراهان او؛

⁴³Hanan the son of Maacah, and Joshaphat the Mithnite,

⁴³ حانان، پسر معکه؛ یهوشافاط متنی؛

⁴⁴Uzzia the Ashterathite, Shama and Jeiel the sons of Hotham the Aroerite,

⁴⁴ عزیای عشتروتی؛ شاماع و یعوئیل، پسران حونام عروعیری؛

⁴⁵Jediael the son of Shimri, and Joha his brother, the Tizite,

⁴⁵ یدیعئیل، پسر شِمری و برادرش، یوخای تیصی؛

⁴⁶Eliel the Mahavite, and Jeribai, and Joshaviah, the sons of Elnaam, and Ithmah the Moabite,

⁴⁶ الیئیل، از محواتی؛ یریبای و یوشوبا، پسران الناعم؛ یتمه موآبی؛ الیئیل، عوبید و یعسیئیل مصوباتی.

⁴⁷Eliel, and Obed, and Jaasiel the Mezobaite.
