¹When the queen of Sheba heard of the fame of Solomon concerning the name of Yahweh, she came to prove him with hard questions.

¹ ملکهٔ سبا از شهرت سلیمان پادشاه باخبر شد و به اورشلیم سفر کرد تا با پرسش‌های دشوار، او را بیازماید.

²She came to Jerusalem with a very great train, with camels that bore spices, and very much gold, and precious stones; and when she had come to Solomon, she talked with him of all that was in her heart.

² ملکهٔ سبا با گروه بزرگی از همراهان و همچنین شترهایی با بار ادویه، جواهرات و مقدار زیادی طلا به اورشلیم آمد و هنگامی‌ که به نزد سلیمان آمد، هر آنچه در اندیشهٔ او بود با وی در میان نهاد.

³Solomon told her all her questions: there was not anything hidden from the king which he didn’t tell her.

³ سلیمان به همهٔ پرسش‌های وی پاسخ داد. هیچ چیز از پادشاه پوشیده نبود که نتواند پاسخ دهد.

⁴When the queen of Sheba had seen all the wisdom of Solomon, and the house that he had built,

⁴ ملکهٔ سبا هنگامی‌که دانش سلیمان و کاخی را که ساخته بود،

⁵and the food of his table, and the sitting of his servants, and the attendance of his ministers, and their clothing, and his cup bearers, and his ascent by which he went up to the house of Yahweh; there was no more spirit in her.

⁵ خوراکهای سفره او، محل سکونت مقامات، سازماندهی درباریان کاخ و لباسهایشان، خدمتکارانی که در هنگام جشن او خدمت می‌کردند و قربانی‌هایی را که در معبد بزرگ تقدیم می‌کرد دید، شگفت‌زده شد.

⁶She said to the king, “It was a true report that I heard in my own land of your acts, and of your wisdom.

⁶ او به سلیمان پادشاه گفت: «هرآنچه در سرزمین خود در مورد کارهای شما و دانش شما شنیده بودم، درست بود،

⁷However I didn’t believe the words, until I came, and my eyes had seen it. Behold, the half was not told me! Your wisdom and prosperity exceed the fame which I heard.

⁷ امّا تا من با چشمهای خود ندیدم، گزارشها را باور نداشتم؛ امّا من حتّی نیمی از آن را هم نشنیده بودم. دانش و ثروت شما بیش از آن است که به من گفته بودند.

⁸Happy are your men, happy are these your servants, who stand continually before you, who hear your wisdom.

⁸ خوشا به حال همسران شما! خوشا به حال خدمتگزاران شما که همیشه با شما هستند و خردمندی شما را می‌شنوند!

⁹Blessed is Yahweh your God, who delighted in you, to set you on the throne of Israel. Because Yahweh loved Israel forever, therefore made he you king, to do justice and righteousness.”

⁹ خداوند خدای شما را ستایش می‌کنم که از تو خشنود بود و تو را بر تخت سلطنت اسرائیل نشانید و چون محبّت خدا نسبت به قوم اسرائیل ابدی است، تو را بر آنان پادشاه ساخت تا با عدل و انصاف بر آنها سلطنت نمایی.»

¹⁰She gave the king one hundred twenty talents of gold, and of spices very great store, and precious stones. There came no more such abundance of spices as these which the queen of Sheba gave to king Solomon.

¹⁰ ملکهٔ سبا هدایای خود را به سلیمان پادشاه تقدیم کرد، آنها عبارت بودند از: معادل پنج تُن طلا و سنگهای گرانبها و مقدار زیادی ادویه به اندازه‌ای که او هرگز دریافت نکرده بود.

¹¹The navy also of Hiram, that brought gold from Ophir, brought in from Ophir great plenty of almug trees and precious stones.

¹¹ (ناوگان حیرام نیز از سرزمین اوفیر طلا و جواهرات و مقدار زیادی چوب صندل آورد

¹²The king made of the almug trees pillars for the house of Yahweh, and for the king’s house, harps also and stringed instruments for the singers: there came no such almug trees, nor were seen, to this day.

¹² و پادشاه برای ستونهای معبد بزرگ، کاخ شاهی و ساختن چنگ و بربطِ نوازندگان از همان چوب صندل استفاده کرد و به آن اندازه چوب صندل تا آن روز در آنجا دیده نشده بود.)

¹³King Solomon gave to the queen of Sheba all her desire, whatever she asked, besides that which Solomon gave her of his royal bounty. So she turned, and went to her own land, she and her servants.

¹³ سلیمان پادشاه، هرآنچه ملکهٔ سبا خواسته بود به او داد، به اضافهٔ هدایای که سلیمان با سخاوتمندی به او بخشید. آنگاه ملکهٔ سبا و همراهانش به سرزمین خود بازگشتند.

¹⁴Now the weight of gold that came to Solomon in one year was six hundred sixty-six talents of gold,

¹⁴ سلیمان پادشاه هرسال بیست و سه تن طلا دریافت می‌کرد.

¹⁵besides that which the traders brought, and the traffic of the merchants, and of all the kings of the mixed people, and of the governors of the country.

¹⁵ به اضافهٔ مالیاتی که توسط بازرگانان پرداخت می‌شد و سود معامله‌ها و خراجی که توسط پادشاهان عرب و فرمانداران بخش‌های اسرائیل پرداخت می‌شد.

¹⁶King Solomon made two hundred bucklers of beaten gold; six hundred shekels of gold went to one buckler.

¹⁶ سلیمان دویست سپر بزرگ که با حدود هفت کیلو طلا روکش شده بود ساخت.

¹⁷he made three hundred shields of beaten gold; three minas of gold went to one shield: and the king put them in the house of the forest of Lebanon.

¹⁷ او همچنین سیصد سپر کوچكتر که با حدود دو کیلو طلا روکش شده بودند، ساخت و آنها را در تالار جنگل لبنان گذاشت.

¹⁸Moreover the king made a great throne of ivory, and overlaid it with the finest gold.

¹⁸ او تخت با شکوهی از عاج ساخت و آن را با طلای ناب روکش کرد.

¹⁹There were six steps to the throne, and the top of the throne was round behind; and there were stays on either side by the place of the seat, and two lions standing beside the stays.

¹⁹ این تخت شش پلّه داشت و در پشت تخت مجسمه سر گوساله‌ای قرار داشت و در دو طرف تخت دسته‌ای بود که در کنار آنها دو مجسمهٔ شیر بود.

²⁰Twelve lions stood there on the one side and on the other on the six steps: there was nothing like it made in any kingdom.

²⁰ در دو طرف هریک از شش پلّه دو مجسمهٔ شیر ایستاده بودند. هرگز چنین تختی در هیچ سرزمینی ساخته نشده بود.

²¹All king Solomon’s drinking vessels were of gold, and all the vessels of the house of the forest of Lebanon were of pure gold: none were of silver; it was nothing accounted of in the days of Solomon.

²¹ همهٔ جامهای نوشیدنی سلیمان از طلا بود و همهٔ ظروف تالار جنگل لبنان از طلای خالص بود و از نقره استفاده نشده بود، زیرا در زمان سلیمان با ارزش محسوب نمی‌شد.

²²For the king had at sea a navy of Tarshish with the navy of Hiram: once every three years came the navy of Tarshish, bringing gold, and silver, ivory, and apes, and peacocks.

²² سلیمان ناوگانی از کشتیهای اقیانوس‌پیما داشت که با کشتیهای حیرام حرکت می‌کردند. هر سه سال یک‌بار ناوگان او بازمی‌گشت و طلا، نقره، عاج، میمون و طاووس می‌آوردند.

²³So king Solomon exceeded all the kings of the earth in riches and in wisdom.

²³ سلیمان پادشاه، ثروتمندتر و دانشمندتر از همهٔ پادشاهان بود

²⁴All the earth sought the presence of Solomon, to hear his wisdom, which God had put in his heart.

²⁴ و تمام مردم جهان خواستار آمدن و شنیدن دانش خدادادی او بودند.

²⁵They brought every man his tribute, vessels of silver, and vessels of gold, and clothing, and armor, and spices, horses, and mules, a rate year by year.

²⁵ همهٔ بازدید کنندگان هرسال برای او هدایایی مانند ظروف طلا و نقره، پارچه، اسلحه، ادویه، اسب و قاطر می‌آوردند.

²⁶Solomon gathered together chariots and horsemen: and he had a thousand and four hundred chariots, and twelve thousand horsemen, that he bestowed in the chariot cities, and with the king at Jerusalem.

²⁶ سلیمان نیرویی شامل هزار و چهارصد ارّابه و دوازده هزار اسب داشت. تعدادی از آنها را در اورشلیم و بقیّه را در شهرهای دیگر مستقر کرده بود.

²⁷The king made silver to be in Jerusalem as stones, and cedars made he to be as the sycamore trees that are in the lowland, for abundance.

²⁷ در زمان پادشاهی سلیمان، نقره در اورشلیم مانند سنگ و چوب سرو مانند چنار دشتهای غربی فراوان بود.

²⁸The horses which Solomon had were brought out of Egypt; and the king’s merchants received them in droves, each drove at a price.

²⁸ مأموران سلیمان اسب را از مصر و قیلیقیه وارد می‌کردند. آنها ارّابه‌ها را از مصر به قیمت ششصد تکه نقره و هر اسب را به قیمت صد و پنجاه تکه به پادشاهان سوریه و حِتّی می‌فروختند.

²⁹A chariot came up and went out of Egypt for six hundred shekels of silver, and a horse for one hundred fifty; and so for all the kings of the Hittites, and for the kings of Syria, they brought them out by their means.

²⁹ آنها ارّابه‌ها را از مصر به قیمت ششصد تکه نقره و هر اسب را به قیمت صد و پنجاه تکه به پادشاهان سوریه و حِتّی می‌فروختند.
