¹It happened, when Solomon had finished the building of the house of Yahweh, and the king’s house, and all Solomon’s desire which he was pleased to do,

¹ پس از آن که سلیمان پادشاه ساختن معبد بزرگ و کاخ و هرآنچه را که خواسته بود، به پایان رساند،

²that Yahweh appeared to Solomon the second time, as he had appeared to him at Gibeon.

² خداوند برای بار دوم به او ظاهر شد، چنانکه در جیحون به او ظاهر شده بود.

³Yahweh said to him, “I have heard your prayer and your supplication, that you have made before me. I have made this house holy, which you have built, to put my name there forever; and my eyes and my heart shall be there perpetually.

³ خداوند به او گفت: «من نیایش و خواهش تو را در برابر خود شنیدم و این معبد بزرگ را که تو ساخته‌ای، تقدیس کرده‌ام و نام خود را تا ابد بر آن نهاده‌ام. چشمان و قلب من برای همیشه آنجا خواهند بود.

⁴As for you, if you will walk before me, as David your father walked, in integrity of heart, and in uprightness, to do according to all that I have commanded you, and will keep my statutes and my ordinances;

⁴ اگر تو مانند پدرت، داوود با قلبی راستین و پاک در برابر من گام برداری و مطابق همهٔ فرمانهایی که به تو داده‌ام، عمل کنی و احکام مرا بجا آوری،

⁵then I will establish the throne of your kingdom over Israel forever, according as I promised to David your father, saying, ‘There shall not fail you a man on the throne of Israel.’

⁵ آنگاه من تخت سلطنت تو را برای همیشه در اسرائیل استوار خواهم کرد. همان‌طور که به پدرت داوود وعده دادم و گفتم که یک نفر از نسل تو همیشه بر اسرائیل سلطنت خواهد کرد.

⁶But if you turn away from following me, you or your children, and not keep my commandments and my statutes which I have set before you, but shall go and serve other gods, and worship them;

⁶ امّا اگر تو یا فرزندان تو از من پیروی نکنید و فرمانها و احکامی‌ را که به شما داده‌ام، بجا نیاورید و خدایان دیگر را خدمت و ستایش کنید،

⁷then will I cut off Israel out of the land which I have given them; and this house, which I have made holy for my name, will I cast out of my sight; and Israel shall be a proverb and a byword among all peoples.

⁷ آنگاه من قوم اسرائیل را از سرزمینی که به آنها داده بودم، بیرون خواهم راند و معبد بزرگی را که به نام خود تقدیس کرده بودم، از نظر دور خواهم داشت و قوم اسرائیل ضرب‌المثل و مورد ریشخند بین همهٔ مردم خواهد شد.

⁸Though this house is so high, yet shall everyone who passes by it be astonished, and shall hiss; and they shall say, ‘Why has Yahweh done thus to this land, and to this house?’

⁸ ‌این معبد بزرگ ویرانه خواهد شد و همهٔ کسانی‌که از آن می‌گذرند شگفت‌زده خواهند شد و خواهند گفت: چرا خداوند با این سرزمین و این خانه چنین کرده است؟

⁹and they shall answer, ‘Because they forsook Yahweh their God, who brought their fathers out of the land of Egypt, and laid hold of other gods, and worshiped them, and served them. Therefore Yahweh has brought all this evil on them.’”

⁹ ‌آنگاه خواهند گفت: زیرا ایشان خداوند خدایی که نیاکانشان را از سرزمین مصر بیرون آورد، ترک کردند و از خدایان دیگر پیروی کردند و آنها را پرستش نمودند. در نتیجه خداوند آنها را به این بلا دچار کرده است.»

¹⁰It happened at the end of twenty years, in which Solomon had built the two houses, the house of Yahweh and the king’s house

¹⁰ در پایان بیست سالی که سلیمان دو ساختمان، معبد بزرگ و کاخ سلطنتی را ساخت،

¹¹(now Hiram the king of Tyre had furnished Solomon with cedar trees and fir trees, and with gold, according to all his desire), that then king Solomon gave Hiram twenty cities in the land of Galilee.

¹¹ حیرام، پادشاه صور، تمام چوبهای سرو و صنوبر و طلای مورد نیاز را برای این کار فراهم آورد. پس از پایان کار، سلیمان پادشاه بیست شهر در سرزمین جلیل به او داد.

¹²Hiram came out from Tyre to see the cities which Solomon had given him; and they didn’t please him.

¹² امّا هنگامی‌که حیرام از صور برای بازدید شهرهایی که سلیمان به او داده بود آمد، آنها را نپسندید.

¹³He said, “What cities are these which you have given me, my brother?” He called them the land of Cabul to this day.

¹³ پس به سلیمان گفت: «ای برادر، این چه شهرهایی است که تو به من داده‌ای؟» و تا به امروز سرزمین کابول (یعنی بی‌حاصل) خوانده می‌شود.

¹⁴Hiram sent to the king one hundred twenty talents of gold.

¹⁴ حیرام معادل پنج تن طلا برای سلیمان فرستاده بود.

¹⁵This is the reason of the levy which king Solomon raised, to build the house of Yahweh, and his own house, and Millo, and the wall of Jerusalem, and Hazor, and Megiddo, and Gezer.

¹⁵ سلیمان پادشاه برای ساختن معبد بزرگ و کاخ و پرکردن گودی زمین در شرق شهر و ساختن دیوارهای اورشلیم و همچنین بازسازی شهرهای حاصور، مجدو و جازر از کارگران اجباری استفاده کرده بود.

¹⁶Pharaoh king of Egypt had gone up, and taken Gezer, and burnt it with fire, and slain the Canaanites who lived in the city, and given it for a portion to his daughter, Solomon’s wife.

¹⁶ (جازر شهری بود که فرعون، آن را تصرّف کرد و به آتش کشید و کنعانیانی را که در آنجا زندگی می‌کردند، کُشت. و بعد آن شهر را به عنوان جهزیه به دختر خود، زن سلیمان داد.)

¹⁷Solomon built Gezer, and Beth Horon the lower,

¹⁷ پس سلیمان جازر، بیت حورون پایینی

¹⁸and Baalath, and Tamar in the wilderness, in the land,

¹⁸ و شهرهای بعلت و تَدمُور را در سرزمین یهودا بازسازی کرد.

¹⁹and all the storage cities that Solomon had, and the cities for his chariots, and the cities for his horsemen, and that which Solomon desired to build for his pleasure in Jerusalem, and in Lebanon, and in all the land of his dominion.

¹⁹ شهرهایی که انبار در آنها بودند و شهرهایی که ارّابه‌ها و سواران در آنها بودند و هرآنچه را که او می‌خواست در اورشلیم، در لبنان و در هر کجا در قلمرو خود بسازد ساخت.

²⁰As for all the people who were left of the Amorites, the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites, who were not of the children of Israel;

²⁰ فرزندان، بازماندگان اموریان، حِتّیان، فَرِزِیان، حویان و یبوسیان که از مردم اسرائیل نبودند،

²¹their children who were left after them in the land, whom the children of Israel were not able utterly to destroy, of them Solomon raised a levy of bondservants to this day.

²¹ و همچنین فرزندانشان که بعد از آنها در آن سرزمین باقی‌مانده بودند و مردم اسرائیل نتوانستند که آنها را بکلّی از بین ببرند، سلیمان به عنوان برده، آنها را به کار می‌گرفت و تا به امروز برای مردم اسرائیل خدمت می‌کنند.

²²But of the children of Israel Solomon made no bondservants; but they were the men of war, and his servants, and his princes, and his captains, and rulers of his chariots and of his horsemen.

²² سلیمان مردم اسرائیل را برده نکرد. آنها به عنوان سرباز، افسران، فرماندهان، ارّابه‌رانان و سواران خدمت می‌کردند.

²³These were the chief officers who were over Solomon’s work, five hundred fifty, who bore rule over the people who labored in the work.

²³ در کارهای ساختمانی سلیمان، پانصد و پنجاه نفر سرکارگر بودند.

²⁴But Pharaoh’s daughter came up out of the city of David to her house which Solomon had built for her: then he built Millo.

²⁴ سلیمان پس از اینکه همسرش، دختر فرعون از شهر داوود به کاخی که او برایش ساخته بود رفت، گودی زمینهای شرق شهر را پر کرد.

²⁵Solomon offered burnt offerings and peace offerings on the altar which he built to Yahweh three times a year, burning incense with them, on the altar that was before Yahweh. So he finished the house.

²⁵ بعد از تکمیل ساختمان معبد بزرگ، سلیمان سالانه سه بار قربانی‌های سوختنی و سلامتی بر قربانگاهی که برای خداوند ساخته بود تقدیم می‌نمود و همچنین بُخور می‌سوزاند.

²⁶King Solomon made a navy of ships in Ezion Geber, which is beside Eloth, on the shore of the Red Sea or, Sea of Reeds , in the land of Edom.

²⁶ سلیمان پادشاه در عصیون جابر، که نزدیک شهر ایلوت در ساحل خلیج عقبه در سرزمین اَدوم بود ناوگانی از کشتی‌ها ساخت.

²⁷Hiram sent in the navy his servants, sailors who had knowledge of the sea, with the servants of Solomon.

²⁷ حیرام پادشاه عدّه‌ای از ملوانان ناوگانان خود را فرستاد تا به مردان سلیمان خدمت کنند. آنها به سرزمین اوفیر رفتند و برای سلیمان حدود شانزده تن طلا آوردند.

²⁸They came to Ophir, and fetched from there gold, four hundred and twenty talents, and brought it to king Solomon.

²⁸ آنها به سرزمین اوفیر رفتند و برای سلیمان حدود شانزده تن طلا آوردند.
