¹Then Solomon assembled the elders of Israel, and all the heads of the tribes, the princes of the fathers’ households of the children of Israel, to king Solomon in Jerusalem, to bring up the ark of the covenant of Yahweh out of the city of David, which is Zion.

¹ آنگاه سلیمان تمام رهبران طایفه‌‌‌‌‌ها و خاندانهای ‌اسرائیل را در اورشلیم جمع کرد تا صندوق پیمان خداوند را از شهر داوود، یعنی صهیون، به معبد بزرگ بیاورند.

²All the men of Israel assembled themselves to king Solomon at the feast, in the month Ethanim, which is the seventh month.

² همهٔ مردان اسرائیل در ماه ایتانیم که ماه هفتم است، در عید خیمه‌ها نزد سلیمان پادشاه جمع شدند.

³All the elders of Israel came, and the priests took up the ark.

³ هنگامی‌که همهٔ رهبران اسرائیل آمدند، کاهنان صندوق پیمان را بلند کردند

⁴They brought up the ark of Yahweh, and the Tent of Meeting, and all the holy vessels that were in the Tent; even these the priests and the Levites brought up.

⁴ و به معبد بزرگ آوردند. لاویان و کاهنان، همچنین خیمهٔ مقدّس خداوند و همهٔ ظروف مقدّسی را نیز که داخل آن بود، آوردند.

⁵King Solomon and all the congregation of Israel, who were assembled to him, were with him before the ark, sacrificing sheep and cattle, that could not be counted nor numbered for multitude.

⁵ سلیمان پادشاه و همهٔ مردم اسرائیل در مقابل صندوق پیمان جمع شدند و تعداد بی‌شماری گوسفند و گاو قربانی کردند.

⁶The priests brought in the ark of the covenant of Yahweh to its place, into the oracle of the house, to the most holy place, even under the wings of the cherubim.

⁶ کاهنان صندوق پیمان خداوند را در جای خود در داخل معبد بزرگ و در مقدّسترین مکان زیر بالهای مجسمهٔ فرشتگان نگهبان قرار دادند.

⁷For the cherubim spread forth their wings over the place of the ark, and the cherubim covered the ark and its poles above.

⁷ بالهای گستردهٔ فرشتگان نگهبان روی صندوق پیمان، چوبهایی را که با آنها صندوق حمل می‌شد، می‌پوشاند.

⁸The poles were so long that the ends of the poles were seen from the holy place before the oracle; but they were not seen outside: and there they are to this day.

⁸ این چوبها آن‌قدر بلند بودند که از مقدّسترین مکان که قبل از محراب بود دیده می‌شدند، امّا از خارج دیده نمی‌شدند و تا به امروز در همان‌جا هستند.

⁹There was nothing in the ark except the two tables of stone which Moses put there at Horeb, when Yahweh made a covenant with the children of Israel, when they came out of the land of Egypt.

⁹ در صندوق پیمان چیزی جز دو لوح سنگی که موسی در کوه سینا -‌جایی که خداوند با قوم اسرائیل هنگام خروجشان از مصر پیمان بست- در آن گذاشته بود، نبود.

¹⁰It came to pass, when the priests had come out of the holy place, that the cloud filled the house of Yahweh,

¹⁰ هنگامی‌که کاهنان از جایگاه مقدّس خارج شدند، ابری معبد بزرگ را پُر کرد،

¹¹so that the priests could not stand to minister by reason of the cloud; for the glory of Yahweh filled the house of Yahweh.

¹¹ به طوری که کاهنان نتوانستند وظایف خود را انجام دهند، زیرا نور درخشان و خیره کنندهٔ حضور خداوند آنجا را پُر کرده بود.

¹²Then Solomon said, “Yahweh has said that he would dwell in the thick darkness.

¹² آنگاه سلیمان گفت: «خداوند فرموده است که در تاریکی غلیظ ساکن خواهد شد.

¹³I have surely built you a house of habitation, a place for you to dwell in forever.”

¹³ اکنون من معبد با شکوهی برای تو ساخته‌ام، مکانی که تو تا ابد در آن ساکن شوی.»

¹⁴The king turned his face about, and blessed all the assembly of Israel: and all the assembly of Israel stood.

¹⁴ آنگاه سلیمان پادشاه به آنها روی کرد و تمام جماعتی را که در آنجا ایستاده بودند برکت داد و

¹⁵He said, “Blessed is Yahweh, the God of Israel, who spoke with his mouth to David your father, and has with his hand fulfilled it, saying,

¹⁵ گفت: «سپاس بر خداوند خدای اسرائیل که هرچه به پدرم داوود وعده داده بود، با دستهای خود انجام داد. به او فرموده بود،

¹⁶‘Since the day that I brought my people Israel out of Egypt, I chose no city out of all the tribes of Israel to build a house, that my name might be there; but I chose David to be over my people Israel.’

¹⁶ از زمانی که قوم خود اسرائیل را از مصر بیرون آوردم، شهری را در سرتاسر اسرائیل برنگزیدم که در آن معبدی ساخته شود تا من در آن ستایش شوم، امّا داوود را برگزیدم تا بر قوم من حکومت کند.

¹⁷“Now it was in the heart of David my father to build a house for the name of Yahweh, the God of Israel.

¹⁷ «آرزوی پدرم داوود این بود که معبدی برای پرستش خداوند خدای اسرائیل بسازد.

¹⁸But Yahweh said to David my father, ‘Whereas it was in your heart to build a house for my name, you did well that it was in your heart.

¹⁸ امّا خداوند به پدرم داوود گفت: 'خواست تو خوب بود که می‌خواستی معبدی برای من بنا کنی

¹⁹Nevertheless, you shall not build the house; but your son who shall come forth out of your body, he shall build the house for my name.’

¹⁹ ولی تو این معبد را برای من بنا نخواهی کرد، بلکه پسری که برای تو به دنیا خواهد آمد، معبدی به نام من خواهد ساخت.'

²⁰Yahweh has established his word that he spoke; for I have risen up in the place of David my father, and I sit on the throne of Israel, as Yahweh promised, and have built the house for the name of Yahweh, the God of Israel.

²⁰ «اکنون خداوند به وعدهٔ خود وفا کرده است، زیرا من به جای پدرم داوود برخاسته‌ام و بر تخت سلطنت اسرائیل نشسته‌ام، همان‌طور که خداوند وعده داده بود و من معبد بزرگ را برای پرستش خدای اسرائیل ساخته‌ام.

²¹There I have set a place for the ark, in which is the covenant of Yahweh, which he made with our fathers, when he brought them out of the land of Egypt.”

²¹ در آنجا مکانی برای صندوق پیمان فراهم آورده‌ام، پیمانی كه خداوند، هنگامی‌که نیاکان ما را از مصر بیرون آورد، با آنها بست.»

²²Solomon stood before the altar of Yahweh in the presence of all the assembly of Israel, and spread forth his hands toward heaven;

²² آنگاه سلیمان درحالی‌که تمام قوم اسرائیل حاضر بودند، در مقابل قربانگاه در حضور خداوند ایستاد. دستهای خود را به سوی آسمان بلند کرد

²³and he said, “Yahweh, the God of Israel, there is no God like you, in heaven above, or on earth beneath; who keep covenant and loving kindness with your servants, who walk before you with all their heart;

²³ و گفت: «ای خداوند خدای اسرائیل، هیچ خدایی چون تو در آسمان و در روی زمین نیست! تو پیمان خود را با قوم خویش نگاه می‌داری و هنگامی‌که با تمام دل در زندگی از تو پیروی می‌کنند، محبّت خود را به آنها نشان می‌دهی.

²⁴who have kept with your servant David my father that which you promised him. Yes, you spoke with your mouth, and have fulfilled it with your hand, as it is this day.

²⁴ تو وعدهٔ خود را با پدرم داوود، نگاه داشتی؛ امروز همهٔ سخنان تو به حقیقت پیوسته است.

²⁵Now therefore, may Yahweh, the God of Israel, keep with your servant David my father that which you have promised him, saying, ‘There shall not fail you a man in my sight to sit on the throne of Israel, if only your children take heed to their way, to walk before me as you have walked before me.’

²⁵ اکنون ای خداوند خدای اسرائیل، وعده‌ای را که به بندهٔ خود، پدرم داوود داده‌ای، نگاه‌دار که فرمودی: همواره یکی از فرزندان او بر تخت پادشاهی اسرائیل خواهد نشست، اگر مانند او از تو پیروی کنند.

²⁶“Now therefore, God of Israel, please let your word be verified, which you spoke to your servant David my father.

²⁶ پس اکنون ای خدای اسرائیل، بگذار هرآنچه را به بنده‌ات، پدرم داوود وعده داده بودی، به حقیقت بپیوندد.

²⁷But will God in very deed dwell on the earth? Behold, heaven and the heaven of heavens can’t contain you; how much less this house that I have built!

²⁷ «امّا ای خدا، آیا براستی تو در زمین ساکن خواهی شد؟ حتّی همهٔ آسمانها گنجایش تو را ندارند، پس چگونه این معبد بزرگ، تو را در خود جای خواهد داد؟

²⁸Yet have respect for the prayer of your servant, and for his supplication, Yahweh my God, to listen to the cry and to the prayer which your servant prays before you this day;

²⁸ ای خداوند، خدا، من بندهٔ تو هستم، به نیایش من گوش فرا ده و درخواست امروز مرا برآورده کن.

²⁹that your eyes may be open toward this house night and day, even toward the place of which you have said, ‘My name shall be there;’ to listen to the prayer which your servant shall pray toward this place.

²⁹ باشد که چشمان تو روز و شب بر این معبد بزرگ باشد، مکانی که تو برگزیده‌ای تا ستایش شوی، هنگامی‌که به سوی این معبد بزرگ نیایش می‌کنم مرا بشنو.

³⁰Listen to the supplication of your servant, and of your people Israel, when they shall pray toward this place. Yes, hear in heaven, your dwelling place; and when you hear, forgive.

³⁰ نیایش‌های مرا بشنو، نیایش‌های قوم خود را، هنگامی‌که به سوی این مکان روی می‌کنند، بشنو؛ از جایگاه خود در آسمانها ما را بشنو و ما را ببخش.

³¹“If a man sins against his neighbor, and an oath is laid on him to cause him to swear, and he comes and swear before your altar in this house;

³¹ «هرگاه کسی متّهم به جرمی‌ علیه دیگری گردد و به قربانگاه این معبد بزرگ آورده شود تا سوگند یاد کند که بی‌گناه است،

³²then hear in heaven, and do, and judge your servants, condemning the wicked, to bring his way on his own head, and justifying the righteous, to give him according to his righteousness.

³² ای خداوند، در آسمانها بشنو و عمل کن و بندگان خود را داوری کن، گناهکار را مجازات و آنچه کرده است بر سر او فرود آور و بی‌گناهان را طبق نیکوکاری ایشان پاداش بده.

³³“When your people Israel are struck down before the enemy, because they have sinned against you; if they turn again to you, and confess your name, and pray and make supplication to you in this house:

³³ «هنگامی‌که قوم تو اسرائیل، به‌خاطر گناه علیه تو از دشمنانشان شکست می‌خورند، آنگاه که به سوی تو باز می‌گردند و به این معبد بزرگ می‌آیند و با فروتنی برای بخشش، تو را نیایش می‌کنند،

³⁴then hear in heaven, and forgive the sin of your people Israel, and bring them again to the land which you gave to their fathers.

³⁴ از آسمانها آنها را بشنو، گناه قوم خود را ببخش و آنها را به سرزمینی که به نیاکان ایشان دادی، بازگردان.

³⁵“When the sky is shut up, and there is no rain, because they have sinned against you; if they pray toward this place, and confess your name, and turn from their sin, when you afflict them:

³⁵ «هنگامی‌که آسمان بسته می‌شود و به‌خاطر گناه علیه تو، باران نمی‌بارد، اگر آنها به سوی این مکان دعا کنند و نام تو را بخوانند و از گناه بازگردند،

³⁶then hear in heaven, and forgive the sin of your servants, and of your people Israel, when you teach them the good way in which they should walk; and send rain on your land, which you have given to your people for an inheritance.

³⁶ از آسمانها آنها را بشنو. گناهان پادشاه و مردم اسرائیل را ببخش و به آنها درستکاری بیاموز. پس ای خداوند، به آن سرزمینی که به عنوان ارث دایمی به قومت بخشیده‌ بودی، باران بفرست.

³⁷“If there is famine in the land, if there is pestilence, if there is blight, mildew, locust or caterpillar; if their enemy besieges them in the land of their cities; whatever plague, whatever sickness there is;

³⁷ «هرگاه این سرزمین دچار خشکسالی یا طاعون شود یا محصولات آن در اثر بادهای سوزان و هجوم ملخ از بین رود، یا دشمن قوم تو را در هریک از شهرها محاصره کند، هر بلا و مرضی که باشد.

³⁸whatever prayer and supplication is made by any man, or by all your people Israel, who shall each know the plague of his own heart, and spread forth his hands toward this house:

³⁸ نیایش‌های آنها را بشنو، اگر هرکس از قوم تو اسرائیل، با قلبی پر از اندوه دستهای خود را به سوی این معبد بزرگ با نیایش بلند کند،

³⁹then hear in heaven, your dwelling place, and forgive, and do, and render to every man according to all his ways, whose heart you know; (for you, even you only, know the hearts of all the children of men;)

³⁹ نیایش‌های آنها را بشنو. از جایگاه خود در آسمانها به آنها گوش فرا ده. ایشان را ببخشای و یاری کن، تنها تو از اندیشهٔ قلب انسان آگاهی. با هرکس، هر آن گونه که سزاوار است، عمل کن.

⁴⁰that they may fear you all the days that they live in the land which you gave to our fathers.

⁴⁰ تا آنها در تمام مدّتی که در سرزمینی که تو به نیاکانشان داده‌ای، همیشه زندگی کنند و از تو بترسند.

⁴¹“Moreover concerning the foreigner, who is not of your people Israel, when he shall come out of a far country for your name’s sake

⁴¹ «همچنین وقتی بیگانه‌ای که در سرزمین دوردستی زندگی می‌کند، نام تو و کارهای عظیمی ‌که تو برای قوم خود انجام داده‌ای، بشنود و برای دعا و ستایش تو به این معبد بزرگ بیاید،

⁴²(for they shall hear of your great name, and of your mighty hand, and of your outstretched arm); when he shall come and pray toward this house;

⁴² نیایش او را بشنو. از آسمان که جایگاه توست، او را بشنو و آنچه را از تو درخواست می‌کند، برآورده کن تا همهٔ مردم جهان مانند قوم تو اسرائیل، تو را بشناسند و از تو پیروی کنند. آنگاه آنها خواهند دانست این معبد بزرگی که من ساخته‌ام، مکانی است که تو باید ستایش شوی.

⁴³hear in heaven, your dwelling place, and do according to all that the foreigner calls to you for; that all the peoples of the earth may know your name, to fear you, as do your people Israel, and that they may know that this house which I have built is called by your name.

⁴³ «آنگاه که تو به مردم خود امر می‌کنی که به جنگ علیه دشمنانشان بروند و آنها به سوی این شهر که تو برگزیده‌ای و این معبد بزرگ که من برای تو ساخته‌ام، به درگاه تو نیایش کنند، هرکجا که هستند،

⁴⁴“If your people go out to battle against their enemy, by whatever way you shall send them, and they pray to Yahweh toward the city which you have chosen, and toward the house which I have built for your name;

⁴⁴ نیایش آنها را بشنو. از آسمانها ایشان را بشنو و پیروزشان گردان.

⁴⁵then hear in heaven their prayer and their supplication, and maintain their cause.

⁴⁵ «هنگامی‌که قوم تو علیه تو مرتکب گناه می‌شود -‌زیرا هیچ‌کس نیست که گناه نکند- و تو در خشم خود اجازه می‌دهی که دشمن آنها را شکست دهد و به اسارت به سرزمینی دیگر ببرد، حتّی اگر آن سرزمین دور دست باشد.

⁴⁶If they sin against you (for there is no man who doesn’t sin), and you are angry with them, and deliver them to the enemy, so that they carry them away captive to the land of the enemy, far off or near;

⁴⁶ نیایش مردم خود را بشنو. اگر ایشان در آن سرزمین توبه کنند و اعتراف نمایند که چه پلید و گناهکار هستند، خداوندا نیایش ایشان را بشنو.

⁴⁷yet if they shall repent in the land where they are carried captive, and turn again, and make supplication to you in the land of those who carried them captive, saying, ‘We have sinned, and have done perversely; we have dealt wickedly;’

⁴⁷ اگر ایشان با تمامی دل و جان خود، در سرزمین دشمنان خود که آنها را به اسارت برده‌اند، توبه کنند و به سوی سرزمینی که به نیاکانشان دادی و شهری که تو برگزیدی و معبد بزرگی که من به نام تو ساخته‌ام، نیایش کنند،

⁴⁸if they return to you with all their heart and with all their soul in the land of their enemies, who carried them captive, and pray to you toward their land, which you gave to their fathers, the city which you have chosen, and the house which I have built for your name:

⁴⁸ آنگاه نیایش ایشان را بشنو. از جایگاه خود در آسمانها نیایش ایشان را بشنو و نسبت به آنها بخشنده باش.

⁴⁹then hear their prayer and their supplication in heaven, your dwelling place, and maintain their cause;

⁴⁹ مردمی ‌را که علیه تو گناه و سرکشی کرده‌اند، ببخش و قلب کسانی‌که ایشان را به اسارت گرفته‌اند، نرم ساز تا شاید بر ایشان مهربانی کنند.

⁵⁰and forgive your people who have sinned against you, and all their transgressions in which they have transgressed against you; and give them compassion before those who carried them captive, that they may have compassion on them

⁵⁰ چون ایشان قوم و میراث تو هستند که از مصر، از میان کوره آهن بیرون آوردی.

⁵¹(for they are your people, and your inheritance, which you brought out of Egypt, from the midst of the furnace of iron);

⁵¹ «بگذار تا چشمان تو بر زاری خدمتکار تو و زاری قوم تو اسرائیل گشوده باشد و هنگامی‌که تو را می‌خوانند، ایشان را بشنوی.

⁵²that your eyes may be open to the supplication of your servant, and to the supplication of your people Israel, to listen to them whenever they cry to you.

⁵² چون تو ایشان را از میان تمامی ‌مردم جهان برگزیدی تا میراث تو باشند، همان‌گونه که به موسی خدمتگزار خود، هنگامی‌که نیاکان ما را از مصر بیرون آوردی، اعلام کردی.»

⁵³For you separated them from among all the peoples of the earth, to be your inheritance, as you spoke by Moses your servant, when you brought our fathers out of Egypt, Lord Yahweh.”

⁵³ پس از آن که سلیمان نیایش و زاری خود را به خداوند پایان داد از برابر قربانگاه که زانو زده و دستهای خود را به سوی آسمان برافراشته بود، برخاست

⁵⁴It was so, that when Solomon had made an end of praying all this prayer and supplication to Yahweh, he arose from before the altar of Yahweh, from kneeling on his knees with his hands spread forth toward heaven.

⁵⁴ و ایستاد و با آوازی بلند همهٔ کسانی را که در آنجا گرد آمده بودند، برکت داد و گفت:

⁵⁵He stood, and blessed all the assembly of Israel with a loud voice, saying,

⁵⁵ «سپاس بر خداوند باد که طبق همهٔ وعده‌های خود به قوم خود اسرائیل آرامی بخشید، و به همهٔ وعده‌های نیکویی که توسط موسی خدمتگزار او داده شده بود، وفا کرد.

⁵⁶“Blessed be Yahweh, who has given rest to his people Israel, according to all that he promised. There has not failed one word of all his good promise, which he promised by Moses his servant.

⁵⁶ خداوند خدای ما، با ما باشد، همان‌طور که با نیاکان ما بود و ما را ترک و رها نکند.

⁵⁷May Yahweh our God be with us, as he was with our fathers. Let him not leave us, nor forsake us;

⁵⁷ باشد که او دلهای ما را به سوی خود مایل گرداند تا در راه او گام برداریم و فرمانها و قوانینی را که به نیاکان ما داد بجا آوریم.

⁵⁸that he may incline our hearts to him, to walk in all his ways, and to keep his commandments, and his statutes, and his ordinances, which he commanded our fathers.

⁵⁸ تا خداوند خدای ما همواره این نیایش را به یاد داشته باشد و با بخشندگی، نیاز روزانهٔ مردم اسرائیل و پادشاه ایشان را برآورده کند.

⁵⁹Let these my words, with which I have made supplication before Yahweh, be near to Yahweh our God day and night, that he may maintain the cause of his servant, and the cause of his people Israel, as every day shall require;

⁵⁹ تا همهٔ مردم جهان بدانند که خداوند ما یکتاست و به جز او خدایی نیست.

⁶⁰that all the peoples of the earth may know that Yahweh, he is God. There is none else.

⁶⁰ باشد که شما که قوم او هستید، همیشه به خداوند خدای ما وفادار باشید. قوانین و فرامین او را همان‌طور که امروز پیروی می‌کنید بجا آورید.»

⁶¹“Let your heart therefore be perfect with Yahweh our God, to walk in his statutes, and to keep his commandments, as at this day.”

⁶¹ آنگاه سلیمان پادشاه و تمام قوم اسرائیل در برابر خداوند قربانی کردند.

⁶²The king, and all Israel with him, offered sacrifice before Yahweh.

⁶² سلیمان بیست و دو هزار گاو و یکصد و بیست هزار گوسفند برای قربانی سلامتی به خداوند تقدیم کرد. پس پادشاه و همهٔ قوم اسرائیل معبد بزرگ را تقدیس کردند.

⁶³Solomon offered for the sacrifice of peace offerings, which he offered to Yahweh, two and twenty thousand head of cattle, and one hundred twenty thousand sheep. So the king and all the children of Israel dedicated the house of Yahweh.

⁶³ در همان روز پادشاه وسط حیاط جلوی معبد بزرگ را تقدیس کرد. چون قربانگاه برنزی گنجایش همهٔ قربانی‌ها را نداشت. قربانی‌های سوختنی، هدایای آردی و چربی قربانی‌های سلامتی را در آنجا تقدیم کرد.

⁶⁴The same day the king made the middle of the court holy that was before the house of Yahweh; for there he offered the burnt offering, and the meal offering, and the fat of the peace offerings, because the bronze altar that was before Yahweh was too little to receive the burnt offering, and the meal offering, and the fat of the peace offerings.

⁶⁴ پس پادشاه با همهٔ قوم اسرائیل در آن زمان به مدّت هفت روز عید خیمه‌ها را برپا نمود و انبوهی از جمعیّت از راه دور، از گذرگاه حمات تا مرز مصر در جنوب در آنجا بودند. در روز هشتم سلیمان مردم را روانه کرد و آنها پادشاه را برکت دادند و با شادمانی و با دلی شاد از همهٔ خوبی‌هایی که خداوند به داوود خدمتگزار خود و همهٔ قوم اسرائیل نشان داد، به خانه‌های خود رفتند.

⁶⁵So Solomon held the feast at that time, and all Israel with him, a great assembly, from the entrance of Hamath to the brook of Egypt, before Yahweh our God, seven days and seven days, even fourteen days.

⁶⁵ در روز هشتم سلیمان مردم را روانه کرد و آنها پادشاه را برکت دادند و با شادمانی و با دلی شاد از همهٔ خوبی‌هایی که خداوند به داوود خدمتگزار خود و همهٔ قوم اسرائیل نشان داد، به خانه‌های خود رفتند.

⁶⁶On the eighth day he sent the people away; and they blessed the king, and went to their tents joyful and glad of heart for all the goodness that Yahweh had shown to David his servant, and to Israel his people.
