¹Don’t rebuke an older man, but exhort him as a father; the younger men as brothers;

¹ مردی را كه از تو مسن‌تر است سرزنش نكن بلكه او را طوری نصیحت كن كه گویی پدر توست. با جوانان مثل برادران

²the elder women as mothers; the younger as sisters, in all purity.

² و با زنهای پیر مانند مادران و با زنهای جوان مثل خواهران خود با كمال پاكدامنی رفتار كن.

³Honor widows who are widows indeed.

³ بیوه‌زنانی را كه واقعاً بیوه هستند مورد توجّه قرار بده.

⁴But if any widow has children or grandchildren, let them learn first to show piety towards their own family, and to repay their parents, for this is TR adds “good and” acceptable in the sight of God.

⁴ امّا اگر آنها دارای فرزندان و یا نوادگان هستند، باید این فرزندان و نوادگان وظیفهٔ دینی خود را اول نسبت به خانوادهٔ خود بیاموزند و تعّهدی را كه به والدین خود دارند بجا آوردند، زیرا این كار خدا را خشنود می‌سازد.

⁵Now she who is a widow indeed, and desolate, has her hope set on God, and continues in petitions and prayers night and day.

⁵ کسی‌که واقعاً بیوه و تنهاست، به خدا توکّل دارد و شب و روز به مناجات و دعا مشغول است.

⁶But she who gives herself to pleasure is dead while she lives.

⁶ ولی آن بیوه زنی كه تسلیم عیّاشی می‌شود حتّی اگر زنده باشد، در واقع مرده است.

⁷Also command these things, that they may be without reproach.

⁷ این را به ایشان دستور بده تا از سرزنش به دور باشند.

⁸But if anyone doesn’t provide for his own, and especially his own household, he has denied the faith, and is worse than an unbeliever.

⁸ اگر كسی وسایل زندگی خویشاوندان و مخصوصاً خانوادهٔ خود را فراهم نكند، ایمان را انكار كرده و بدتر از كافران شده است.

⁹Let no one be enrolled as a widow under sixty years old, having been the wife of one man,

⁹ نام بیوه زنی كه بیش از شصت سال داشته و بیش از یک شوهر نكرده باشد، باید ثبت شود.

¹⁰being approved by good works, if she has brought up children, if she has been hospitable to strangers, if she has washed the saints’ feet, if she has relieved the afflicted, and if she has diligently followed every good work.

¹⁰ علاوه بر این، او باید در امور خیریه، از قبیل پرورش اطفال، مهمان‌نوازی، شستن پاهای مقدّسین، دستگیری ستمدیدگان و انجام هر نوع نیكوكاری شهرت داشته باشد.

¹¹But refuse younger widows, for when they have grown wanton against Christ, they desire to marry;

¹¹ نام بیوه‌زنهای جوان‌تر ثبت نگردد؛ زیرا به محض اینکه هوی و هوس آنها را از مسیح دور سازد، علاقه‌مند به ازدواج می‌شوند

¹²having condemnation, because they have rejected their first pledge.

¹² و از اینکه پیمان قبلی خود را با مسیح می‌شكنند، محكوم خواهند شد.

¹³Besides, they also learn to be idle, going about from house to house. Not only idle, but also gossips and busybodies, saying things which they ought not.

¹³ گذشته از این یاد می‌گیرند كه خانه به خانه بگردند و بیكار باشند. نه فقط بیكار بلكه سخن‌چین و فضول و چیزهایی می‌گویند كه گفتن آنها شایسته نیست.

¹⁴I desire therefore that the younger widows marry, bear children, rule the household, and give no occasion to the adversary for insulting.

¹⁴ پس عقیدهٔ من این است، كه بیوه‌زنهای جوان ازدواج كنند و صاحب فرزندان شوند و خانه‌داری نمایند تا به دشمنان ما فرصت بدگویی ندهند.

¹⁵For already some have turned aside after Satan.

¹⁵ زیرا بعضی از بیوه‌زنها قبل از این هم منحرف شده و به دنبال شیطان رفته‌اند.

¹⁶If any man or woman who believes has widows, let them relieve them, and don’t let the assembly be burdened; that it might relieve those who are widows indeed.

¹⁶ اگر زن ایمانداری، خویشاوند بیوه داشته باشد باید ایشان را یاری دهد كه بر كلیسا تحمیل نگردند تا كلیسا به بیوه‌زنهای حقیقی كمک نماید.

¹⁷Let the elders who rule well be counted worthy of double honor, especially those who labor in the word and in teaching.

¹⁷ رهبرانی را كه به خوبی رهبری می‌کنند مخصوصاً آنانی كه در وعظ و تعلیم زحمت می‌کشند، باید مستحقّ دریافت مزد دو برابر دانست.

¹⁸For the Scripture says, “You shall not muzzle the ox when it treads out the grain.” Deuteronomy 25:4 And, “The laborer is worthy of his wages.” Luke 10:7; Leviticus 19:13

¹⁸ زیرا کتاب‌مقدّس می‌فرماید: «دهان گاوی را كه خرمن می‌كوبد، نبند» و «كارگر مستحق مزد خود می‌باشد.»

¹⁹Don’t receive an accusation against an elder, except at the word of two or three witnesses.

¹⁹ هیچ ادّعایی علیه یكی از رهبران نپذیر، مگر آنکه به وسیلهٔ دو یا سه شاهد تأیید شود.

²⁰Those who sin, reprove in the sight of all, that the rest also may be in fear.

²⁰ آنانی را كه در گناه پافشاری می‌کنند، در حضور همه توبیخ كن تا دیگران عبرت گیرند.

²¹I command you in the sight of God, and Christ Jesus, and the chosen angels, that you observe these things without prejudice, doing nothing by partiality.

²¹ در حضور خدا و عیسی و فرشتگان برگزیده تو را موظّف می‌سازم كه دستورهای فوق را بدون غَرَض نگاه داشته و هیچ كاری را از روی تبعیض انجام ندهی.

²²Lay hands hastily on no one, neither be a participant in other men’s sins. Keep yourself pure.

²² در دستگذاری كسی برای خدمت خداوند عجله نكن و در گناهان دیگران شریک نباش، خود را پاک نگه‌دار،

²³Be no longer a drinker of water only, but use a little wine for your stomach’s sake and your frequent infirmities.

²³ و از این پس فقط آب ننوش بلكه كمی هم شراب بخور تا شكم تو را تقویت كند، زیرا اغلب مریض‌ هستی.

²⁴Some men’s sins are evident, preceding them to judgment, and some also follow later.

²⁴ گناهان بعضی‌ها اكنون آشكار است و آنها را به سوی كیفر می‌کشاند، امّا گناهان دیگران بعدها معلوم خواهد شد. همچنین کارهای نیک نیز آشكار می‌باشند و حتّی اگر اكنون آشكار نباشند نمی‌توان آنها را تا به آخر پنهان نگاه داشت.

²⁵In the same way also there are good works that are obvious, and those that are otherwise can’t be hidden.

²⁵ همچنین کارهای نیک نیز آشكار می‌باشند و حتّی اگر اكنون آشكار نباشند نمی‌توان آنها را تا به آخر پنهان نگاه داشت.
