¹The Spirit of God came on Azariah the son of Oded:

¹ روح خداوند بر عزریا، پسر عودید فرود آمد

²and he went out to meet Asa, and said to him, “Hear me, Asa, and all Judah and Benjamin! Yahweh is with you, while you are with him; and if you seek him, he will be found by you; but if you forsake him, he will forsake you.

² او به دیدن آسا رفت و به او گفت: «ای آسا، همهٔ یهودا و بنیامین به من گوش فرا دهید، خداوند با شماست، اگر او را بجویید او را خواهید یافت امّا اگر به او پشت کنید او هم شما را ترک خواهد کرد.

³Now for a long time Israel was without the true God, and without a teaching priest, and without law.

³ برای زمان طولانی، اسرائیل بدون خدای حقیقی و بدون کاهنی که آموزگار باشد و بدون قانون بود.

⁴But when in their distress they turned to Yahweh, the God of Israel, and sought him, he was found by them.

⁴ امّا در دشواری، هنگامی‌که به سوی خداوند بازگشتند و او را خواستار شدند، او را یافتند.

⁵In those times there was no peace to him who went out, nor to him who came in; but great troubles were on all the inhabitants of the lands.

⁵ در آن زمانها رفت و آمد برای کسی امن نبود، زیرا پریشانی بر همهٔ ساکنان سرزمین غلبه کرده بود.

⁶They were broken in pieces, nation against nation, and city against city; for God troubled them with all adversity.

⁶ ایشان درهم شکسته شده بودند، کشورها علیه کشورها و شهرها علیه شهرها بودند، زیرا خداوند ایشان را به هر نوع بلا دچار کرد.

⁷But you be strong, and don’t let your hands be slack; for your work shall be rewarded.”

⁷ امّا شما شجاع باشید و نگذارید دستهای شما ناتوان شوند، زیرا کارهای شما پاداش خواهد داشت.»

⁸When Asa heard these words, and the prophecy of Oded the prophet, he took courage, and put away the abominations out of all the land of Judah and Benjamin, and out of the cities which he had taken from the hill country of Ephraim; and he renewed the altar of Yahweh, that was before the porch of Yahweh.

⁸ هنگامی‌که آسا نبوّت عزریا، پسر عودید را شنید، جرأت یافت و تمام بُتهایی را که در سرزمین یهودا و بنیامین و شهرهایی که در تپّه‌های افرایم تسخیر کرده بود نابود کرد. او همچنین قربانگاه خداوند را که در حیاط معبد بزرگ بود، بازسازی کرد.

⁹He gathered all Judah and Benjamin, and those who lived with them out of Ephraim and Manasseh, and out of Simeon: for they fell to him out of Israel in abundance, when they saw that Yahweh his God was with him.

⁹ تعداد زیادی از مردم طایفه‌های افرایم، منسی و شمعون چون دیدند خداوند با آسا می‌باشد، نزد او آمدند و در قلمروی حکومت او زندگی ‌کردند. آسا ایشان و مردم یهودا و بنیامین را فراخواند.

¹⁰So they gathered themselves together at Jerusalem in the third month, in the fifteenth year of the reign of Asa.

¹⁰ ایشان در ماه سوم، سال پانزدهم سلطنت آسا در اورشلیم گِرد آمدند.

¹¹They sacrificed to Yahweh in that day, of the spoil which they had brought, seven hundred head of cattle and seven thousand sheep.

¹¹ در آن روز از غنایمی که با خود آورده بودند هفتصد راس گاو و هفت هزار گوسفند برای خداوند قربانی کردند.

¹²They entered into the covenant to seek Yahweh, the God of their fathers, with all their heart and with all their soul;

¹² ایشان به اتّفاق پیمان بستند که خداوند، خدای نیاکان خود را، با تمام دل و جان پیروی کنند

¹³and that whoever would not seek Yahweh, the God of Israel, should be put to death, whether small or great, whether man or woman.

¹³ و هرکسی که خداوند، خدای اسرائیل را نجوید، خواه پیر یا جوان، خواه مرد یا زن، کشته شود.

¹⁴They swore to Yahweh with a loud voice, and with shouting, and with trumpets, and with cornets.

¹⁴ ایشان با صدای بلند و فریاد، با صدای شیپور و بوقها، برای خداوند سوگند یاد کردند.

¹⁵All Judah rejoiced at the oath; for they had sworn with all their heart, and sought him with their whole desire; and he was found of them: and Yahweh gave them rest all around.

¹⁵ تمام مردم یهودا به‌خاطر پیمانی که بسته بودند، شادمان گشتند؛ زیرا با تمام دل سوگند یاد کردند و خداوند را با تمام وجود خواسته و یافته بودند، و خداوند به ایشان از همه جهت آرامش بخشید.

¹⁶Also Maacah, the mother of Asa the king, he removed from being queen, because she had made an abominable image for an Asherah; and Asa cut down her image, and made dust of it, and burnt it at the brook Kidron.

¹⁶ او مادر بزرگ خود، معکه را از مقام ملکهٔ مادر بر کنار کرد، زیرا او بت زننده‌ای به شکل الههٔ اشره ساخته بود. آسا بت را شکست و در وادی قدرون سوزاند.

¹⁷But the high places were not taken away out of Israel: nevertheless the heart of Asa was perfect all his days.

¹⁷ با وجودی که آسا پرستشگاههای بالای تپّه‌ها را از بین نبرده بود، لیکن در سراسر زندگی خود به خداوند وفادار ماند.

¹⁸He brought into God’s house the things that his father had dedicated, and that he himself had dedicated, silver, and gold, and vessels.

¹⁸ همهٔ چیزهایی را که پدرش وقف کرده بود، همراه با اشیایی که خودش وقف کرد و شامل ظروف نقره و طلا بودند به معبد بزرگ خداوند آورد. تا سی و پنجمین سال سلطنت آسا جنگی رخ نداد.

¹⁹There was no more war to the five and thirtieth year of the reign of Asa.

¹⁹ تا سی و پنجمین سال سلطنت آسا جنگی رخ نداد.
