¹Josiah kept a Passover to Yahweh in Jerusalem: and they killed the Passover on the fourteenth day of the first month.

¹ یوشیا عید فصح را برای خداوند در اورشلیم جشن گرفت. در روز چهاردهم ماه اول برّه فصح را قربانی کردند.

²He set the priests in their offices, and encouraged them to the service of the house of Yahweh.

² او کاهنان را بر وظایفی که در معبد بزرگ به عهده داشتند، گماشت و آنها را تشویق کرد که آنها را به خوبی انجام دهند.

³He said to the Levites who taught all Israel, who were holy to Yahweh, “Put the holy ark in the house which Solomon the son of David king of Israel built. There shall no more be a burden on your shoulders. Now serve Yahweh your God, and his people Israel.

³ او همچنین به لاویان که به مردم اسرائیل آموزش می‌دادند و خود را وقف خدمت خداوند کرده بودند گفت: «صندوق مقدّس پیمان را در معبدی که سلیمان، پسر داوود، پادشاه اسرائیل ساخته است بگذارید. دیگر نیازی نیست که شما آن را بر دوش خود حمل کنید. اکنون خداوند، خدای خود و مردم او اسرائیل را خدمت کنید.

⁴Prepare yourselves after your fathers’ houses by your divisions, according to the writing of David king of Israel, and according to the writing of Solomon his son.

⁴ حال طبق ترتیباتی که داوود پادشاه و پسرش سلیمان نوشته‌اند و مطابق با خاندان خویش مسئولیّت‌های خود را انجام دهید و در مکان معیّن در معبد بایستید.

⁵Stand in the holy place according to the divisions of the fathers’ houses of your brothers the children of the people, and let there be for each a portion of a fathers’ house of the Levites.

⁵ طوری خود را منظّم کنید که بعضی از شما به هر خانوادهٔ اسرائیلی کمک کنند.

⁶Kill the Passover, and sanctify yourselves, and prepare for your brothers, to do according to the word of Yahweh by Moses.”

⁶ برّه‌های فصح را بکشید. خود را پاک کنید و مطابق دستورهایی که خداوند به موسی داده بود، قربانی‌های را برای هموطنان خود آماده نمایید.»

⁷Josiah gave to the children of the people, of the flock, lambs and young goats, all of them for the Passover offerings, to all who were present, to the number of thirty thousand, and three thousand bulls: these were of the king’s substance.

⁷ آنگاه یوشیا از رمه و گلّه خود، سی هزار، برّه و بُزغاله و همچنین سه هزار گاو نر برای عید فصح به مردم داد.

⁸His princes gave for a freewill offering to the people, to the priests, and to the Levites. Hilkiah and Zechariah and Jehiel, the rulers of God’s house, gave to the priests for the Passover offerings two thousand and six hundred small livestock, and three hundred head of cattle.

⁸ مأموران دربار او هم با کمال میل به مردم، کاهنان و لاویان هدایا دادند. حلقیا، زکریا، یحیئیل مأموران عالیرتبهٔ معبد بزرگ بودند و برای عید فصح به کاهنان دو هزار و ششصد برّه و بُزغاله و سیصد گاو نر دادند.

⁹Conaniah also, and Shemaiah and Nethanel, his brothers, and Hashabiah and Jeiel and Jozabad, the chiefs of the Levites, gave to the Levites for the Passover offerings five thousand small livestock, and five hundred head of cattle.

⁹ رهبران لاویان، یعنی کننیا و برادرانش شمعیا، نتنئیل، حشبیا، یعیئیل و یوزاباد پنج هزار برّه و بُزغاله و پانصد گاو برای قربانی فصح به لاویان دادند.

¹⁰So the service was prepared, and the priests stood in their place, and the Levites by their divisions, according to the king’s commandment.

¹⁰ هنگامی‌که آماده انجام مراسم شدند، کاهنان در جای خود و لاویان در گروه خود، مطابق فرمان پادشاه، قرار گرفتند.

¹¹They killed the Passover, and the priests sprinkled the blood which they received of their hand, and the Levites flayed them.

¹¹ ایشان برّه فصح را کشتند و کاهنان خون آن را بر قربانگاه پاشیدند و لاویان قربانی‌ها را پوست می‌کندند.

¹²They removed the burnt offerings, that they might give them according to the divisions of the fathers’ houses of the children of the people, to offer to Yahweh, as it is written in the book of Moses. So they did with the cattle.

¹² آنگاه ایشان قربانی‌های سوختنی از میان مردم برحسب گروههای خانوادگی تقسیم کردند تا مردم مطابق آنچه در کتاب موسی نوشته بود، قربانی کنند. با گاوها نیز همینطور کردند.

¹³They roasted the Passover with fire according to the ordinance: and the holy offerings boiled they in pots, and in caldrons, and in pans, and carried them quickly to all the children of the people.

¹³ لاویان قربانی‌های فصح را مطابق قوانین، در روی آتش کباب کردند و قربانی‌های مقدّس را در قابلمه‌‌ها، کتری‌ها و تابه‌ها جوشاندند و با سرعت، گوشت آنها را میان مردم تقسیم کردند.

¹⁴Afterward they prepared for themselves, and for the priests, because the priests the sons of Aaron were busy with offering the burnt offerings and the fat until night: therefore the Levites prepared for themselves, and for the priests the sons of Aaron.

¹⁴ پس از آن، لاویان برای خود و کاهنانی که از بازماندگان هارون بودند تا شامگاه مشغول سوزاندن قربانی‌ها به صورت کامل و چربی قربانی‌های دیگر بودند.

¹⁵The singers the sons of Asaph were in their place, according to the commandment of David, and Asaph, and Heman, and Jeduthun the king’s seer; and the porters were at every gate: they didn’t need to depart from their service; for their brothers the Levites prepared for them.

¹⁵ سرایندگان که از نسل آساف بودند، مطابق فرمان داوود، آساف، هیمان و یدوتون، رائیِ پادشاه، در جاهای خود قرار گرفتند. دروازه‌بان‌ها هم در جای خود بودند و لازم نبود از خدمت خود دست بکشند زیرا نزدیکان لاوی ایشان برای آنها غذا تهیّه کردند.

¹⁶So all the service of Yahweh was prepared the same day, to keep the Passover, and to offer burnt offerings on the altar of Yahweh, according to the commandment of king Josiah.

¹⁶ پس در آن روز برای خداوند طبق دستور یوشیای پادشاه تمام مراسم عید فصح و قربانی سوختنی در روی قربانگاه خداوند انجام گرفت.

¹⁷The children of Israel who were present kept the Passover at that time, and the feast of unleavened bread seven days.

¹⁷ همهٔ کسانی‌که از قوم اسرائیل حضور داشتند مدّت هفت روز عید فصح و عید نان فطیر را جشن گرفتند.

¹⁸There was no Passover like that kept in Israel from the days of Samuel the prophet; neither did any of the kings of Israel keep such a Passover as Josiah kept, and the priests, and the Levites, and all Judah and Israel who were present, and the inhabitants of Jerusalem.

¹⁸ از زمان سموئیل نبی هیچ‌گاه جشن عید فصح چنین برگزار نشده بود و هیچ‌یک از پادشاهان گذشته مانند یوشیا و کاهنان و لاویان و مردم یهودا، اسرائیل و اورشلیم چنین جشنی برگزار نکرده بودند.

¹⁹In the eighteenth year of the reign of Josiah was this Passover kept.

¹⁹ این عید فصح در سال هجدهم سلطنت یوشیا جشن گرفته شد.

²⁰After all this, when Josiah had prepared the temple, Neco king of Egypt went up to fight against Carchemish by the Euphrates: and Josiah went out against him.

²⁰ پس از اینکه یوشیا معبد بزرگ را سر و سامان داد، نکو فرعون، برای جنگ به کرکمیش در فرات رفت و یوشیا به مقابله با او رفت.

²¹But he sent ambassadors to him, saying, “What have I to do with you, you king of Judah? I come not against you this day, but against the house with which I have war. God has commanded me to make haste. Beware that it is God who is with me, that he not destroy you.”

²¹ امّا نکو نمایندگانی با این پیام نزد او فرستاد: «ای پادشاه یهودا این مسئله‌ای بین من و تو نیست. جنگی که در آن نبرد می‌کنم به تو مربوط نمی‌شود، من به جنگ تو نیامده‌ام، بلکه به جنگ دشمنم آمده‌ام، خدا به من فرمود بشتاب و او با من است. با خدا مخالفت نکن وگرنه او تو را نابود خواهد کرد.»

²²Nevertheless Josiah would not turn his face from him, but disguised himself, that he might fight with him, and didn’t listen to the words of Neco from the mouth of God, and came to fight in the valley of Megiddo.

²² امّا یوشیا مصمم بود که بجنگد. او به گفتهٔ نکوی پادشاه که طبق فرمان خدا گفته بود، گوش فرا نداد و برعکس، با تغییر لباس برای جنگ به دشت مجدو رفت.

²³The archers shot at king Josiah; and the king said to his servants, “Take me away, because I am seriously wounded!”

²³ در این نبرد، یوشیای پادشاه مورد اصابت پیکان تیراندازان مصری قرار گرفت. او به خادمان خود دستور داد: «مرا از اینجا ببرید، زیرا من بشدّت زخمی شده‌ام.»

²⁴So his servants took him out of the chariot, and put him in the second chariot that he had, and brought him to Jerusalem; and he died, and was buried in the tombs of his fathers. All Judah and Jerusalem mourned for Josiah.

²⁴ پس او را از ارّابه‌اش در ارابهٔ دیگری گذاشتند و به اورشلیم بردند. یوشیا در آنجا در گذشت و او را در آرامگاه نیاکانش به خاک سپردند. تمام مردم یهودا و اورشلیم برای یوشیا سوگواری کردند.

²⁵Jeremiah lamented for Josiah: and all the singing men and singing women spoke of Josiah in their lamentations to this day; and they made them an ordinance in Israel: and behold, they are written in the lamentations.

²⁵ ارمیا نیز سوگنامه‌ای برای یوشیا نوشت و تمام سرایندگان مرد و زن، در سوگواریها تا به امروز از یوشیا می‌سرایند. ایشان این رویداد را به صورت رسمی در آوردند و این سوگنامه‌ها در کتاب سوگنامه نوشته شده است.

²⁶Now the rest of the acts of Josiah, and his good deeds, according to that which is written in the law of Yahweh,

²⁶ شرح بقیّهٔ کارهای یوشیا، و رفتار وفادارانه او طبق آنچه در کتاب شریعت خداوند نوشته شده و وقایع زندگی او، از ابتدا تا پایان، در کتاب تاریخ پادشاهان اسرائیل و یهودا نوشته شده است.

²⁷and his acts, first and last, behold, they are written in the book of the kings of Israel and Judah.
