¹Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus through the will of God, and Timothy our brother, to the assembly of God which is at Corinth, with all the saints who are in the whole of Achaia:

¹ از طرف پولس كه به ارادهٔ خدا، رسول عیسی مسیح است و از طرف برادر ما تیموتاؤس به كلیسای خدا در شهر قرنتس و تمام مقدّسین مقیم یونان تقدیم می‌شود.

²Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

² پدر ما خدا و عیسی مسیح خداوند، به شما فیض و آرامش عطا فرماید.

³Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort;

³ سپاس بر خدا، پدر خداوند ما عیسی مسیح كه پدری مهربان و منبع آسایش است.

⁴who comforts us in all our affliction, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, through the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.

⁴ او ما را در تمام سختی‌ها و زحمتهای ما آسودگی بخشید تا ما بتوانیم با استفاده از همان آسایشی كه خدا به ما عطا فرمود، كسانی را كه به انواع سختی‌ها گرفتار هستند، آسودگی بخشیم.

⁵For as the sufferings of Christ abound to us, even so our comfort also abounds through Christ.

⁵ همان‌گونه كه ما در رنجهای بسیارِ مسیح سهیم هستیم، به وسیلهٔ مسیح در آسایش فراوان او نیز شریک هستیم.

⁶But if we are afflicted, it is for your comfort and salvation. If we are comforted, it is for your comfort, which produces in you the patient enduring of the same sufferings which we also suffer.

⁶ اگر زحمات و سختی‌ها نصیب ما می‌شود، به‌خاطر آسودگی و نجات شماست و اگر آسایش در انتظار ماست، این هم باید موجب آسودگی خاطر شما باشد. یعنی وقتی شما هم مثل ما متحمّل رنج و زحمت می‌شوید، صبور و با تحمّل باشید.

⁷Our hope for you is steadfast, knowing that, since you are partakers of the sufferings, so also are you of the comfort.

⁷ امید ما به شما هرگز متزلزل نمی‌شود، زیرا می‌دانیم، چنانکه در رنجهای ما سهیم هستید، در آسایش ما نیز سهیم خواهید بود.

⁸For we don’t desire to have you uninformed, brothers, The word for “brothers” here and where context allows may also be correctly translated “brothers and sisters” or “siblings.” concerning our affliction which happened to us in Asia, that we were weighed down exceedingly, beyond our power, so much that we despaired even of life.

⁸ ما نمی‌خواهیم از زحماتی كه در استان آسیا برای ما پیش آمد بی‌خبر باشید. بارهایی كه بر دوش ما گذاشته شد آن‌قدر گران و سنگین بود كه امید خود را به زندگی از دست دادیم.

⁹Yes, we ourselves have had the sentence of death within ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves, but in God who raises the dead,

⁹ احساس می‌کردیم كه حكم اعدام ما صادر شده بود. چنین اتّفاقی افتاد تا به خدایی كه مردگان را زنده می‌کند متّکی باشیم نه به خودمان.

¹⁰who delivered us out of so great a death, and does deliver; on whom we have set our hope that he will also still deliver us;

¹⁰ خدا ما را از خطر مرگ بسیار وحشتناكی رهانید و امید ما باز هم به اوست كه بار دیگر ما را رهایی بخشد.

¹¹you also helping together on our behalf by your supplication; that, for the gift bestowed on us by means of many, thanks may be given by many persons on your behalf.

¹¹ شما نیز باید با دعاهایتان ما را یاری كنید تا وقتی عدّهٔ بسیاری بركاتی را كه خدا به ما داده است ببینند، آنگاه عدّهٔ بیشتری به‌خاطر ما خدا را سپاس خواهند گفت.

¹²For our boasting is this: the testimony of our conscience, that in holiness and sincerity of God, not in fleshly wisdom but in the grace of God we behaved ourselves in the world, and more abundantly toward you.

¹² افتخار ما این است و وجدان ما نیز گواه است كه در روابط خود با مردم این جهان و مخصوصاً با شما با خلوص نیّت و بی‌ریایی خدایی رفتار کرده‌ایم. ما به فیض خدا متّکی بودیم، نه به فلسفهٔ دنیوی.

¹³For we write no other things to you, than what you read or even acknowledge, and I hope you will acknowledge to the end;

¹³ در آنچه نوشتیم، مقصود ما همان است كه شما می‌خوانید و می‌فهمید.

¹⁴as also you acknowledged us in part, that we are your boasting, even as you also are ours, in the day of our Lord Jesus.

¹⁴ و امیدواریم شما همان‌طور كه ما را تا حدّی می‌شناسید این چیزها را نیز کاملاً بفهمید تا سرانجام در روز عیسی خداوند چنانکه ما به شما افتخار می‌کنیم شما نیز به ما افتخار كنید.

¹⁵In this confidence, I was determined to come first to you, that you might have a second benefit;

¹⁵ با چنین اطمینانی بود كه تصمیم گرفتم قبل از همه از شما دیدن كنم تا بركاتی مضاعف به شما برسانم.

¹⁶and by you to pass into Macedonia, and again from Macedonia to come to you, and to be sent forward by you on my journey to Judea.

¹⁶ یعنی می‌خواستم هم در وقت رفتن به مقدونیه و هم در بازگشت از آنجا از شما دیدن كنم و در بازگشت با كمک شما راه یهودیه را در پیش بگیرم.

¹⁷When I therefore was thus determined, did I show fickleness? Or the things that I purpose, do I purpose according to the flesh, that with me there should be the “Yes, yes” and the “No, no?”

¹⁷ آیا این تصمیم من نشان می‌دهد كه دچار تردید شده‌ام؟ آیا من هم در نقشه‌های خود مثل افراد این جهان به اقتضای زمان، بلی یا خیر می‌گویم؟

¹⁸But as God is faithful, our word toward you was not “Yes and no.”

¹⁸ همان‌گونه كه سخنان خدا قابل اعتماد است، گفتار ما نیز به شما دو پهلو نمی‌باشد.

¹⁹For the Son of God, Jesus Christ, who was preached among you by us, by me, Silvanus, and Timothy, was not “Yes and no,” but in him is “Yes.”

¹⁹ زیرا پسر خدا عیسی مسیح، كه من و سیلوانس و تیموتاؤس او را به شما اعلام كردیم، هرگز دو دل نبود بلكه بلی او همیشه «بلی» بوده است.

²⁰For however many are the promises of God, in him is the “Yes.” Therefore also through him is the “Amen,” to the glory of God through us.

²⁰ زیرا هرقدر كه وعده‌های خدا زیاد باشند همهٔ آنها به طور مثبت در مسیح انجام می‌شوند و به این جهت وقتی خدا را ستایش می‌کنیم به وسیلهٔ مسیح آمین می‌گوییم.

²¹Now he who establishes us with you in Christ, and anointed us, is God;

²¹ خدا، ما و شما را در اتّحاد با مسیح استوار نموده و مأموریت مقدّسی به ما داده است.

²²who also sealed us, and gave us the down payment of the Spirit in our hearts.

²² و خدا مُهر مالكیّت خود را بر ما گذاشت و روح‌القدس را به عنوان ضامن همهٔ بركات آینده در دلهای ما نهاد.

²³But I call God for a witness to my soul, that I didn’t come to Corinth to spare you.

²³ خدا شاهد است كه من از آمدن به قرنتس به این دلیل خودداری كردم كه مبادا مزاحم شما شوم. مقصود من این نیست كه حاكم بر ایمان شما باشم! خیر، بلكه ما همكاران واقعی شما هستیم تا شما به خوشی حقیقی مایل شوید، زیرا شما در ایمان پایدار هستید.

²⁴Not that we have lordship over your faith, but are fellow workers with you for your joy. For you stand firm in faith.

²⁴ مقصود من این نیست كه حاكم بر ایمان شما باشم! خیر، بلكه ما همكاران واقعی شما هستیم تا شما به خوشی حقیقی مایل شوید، زیرا شما در ایمان پایدار هستید.
