¹Moab rebelled against Israel after the death of Ahab.

¹ پس از مرگ اخاب، قوم موآب علیه اسرائیل شورش کرد.

²Ahaziah fell down through the lattice in his upper room that was in Samaria, and was sick. So he sent messengers, and said to them, “Go, inquire of Baal Zebub, the god of Ekron, whether I will recover of this sickness.”

² اخزیا از ایوان طبقهٔ بالای کاخ خود افتاده و زخمی شده بود. پس چند نفر را نزد بعل‌زبوب، خدای عقرون شهری در فلسطین فرستاد و گفت بروید و از او بپرسید که آیا من از این مرض شفا می‌یابم یا نه؟

³But the angel of Yahweh “Yahweh” is God’s proper Name, sometimes rendered “LORD” (all caps) in other translations. said to Elijah the Tishbite, “Arise, go up to meet the messengers of the king of Samaria, and tell them, ‘Is it because there is no God The Hebrew word rendered “God” is “Elohim.” in Israel, that you go to inquire of Baal Zebub, the god of Ekron?

³ امّا فرشتهٔ خداوند به ایلیای تشبی گفت: «برخیز و به ملاقات قاصدان پادشاه سامره برو و به آنها بگو که چرا نزد بعل‌زبوب می‌روند و از او راهنمایی می‌خواهند. آیا فکر می‌کنید که در اسرائیل خدایی وجود ندارد؟

⁴Now therefore thus says Yahweh, “You shall not come down from the bed where you have gone up, but shall surely die.”’” Elijah departed.

⁴ پس اکنون خداوند می‌فرماید: 'تو بستری را که به آن رفته‌ای ترک نخواهی کرد و حتماً خواهی مرد.'» پس ایلیا رفت و به آنها خبر داد.

⁵The messengers returned to him, and he said to them, “Why is it that you have returned?”

⁵ قاصدان نزد پادشاه بازگشتند و پادشاه از آنها پرسید: «چرا بازگشتید؟»

⁶They said to him, “A man came up to meet us, and said to us, ‘Go, return to the king who sent you, and tell him, “Thus says Yahweh, ‘Is it because there is no God in Israel, that you send to inquire of Baal Zebub, the god of Ekron? Therefore you shall not come down from the bed where you have gone up, but shall surely die.’”’”

⁶ آنها جواب دادند: «در بین راه مردی را ملاقات کردیم و او به ما گفت: بازگردید و به پادشاه خود که شما را فرستاده است بگویید که خداوند می‌فرماید: 'آیا در اسرائیل خدایی نیست که تو از بعل‌زبوب، خدای عقرون راهنمایی می‌خواهی؟ پس از بستر بیماری برنمی‌خیزی و حتماً می‌میری.'»

⁷He said to them, “What kind of man was he who came up to meet you, and told you these words?”

⁷ پادشاه پرسید: «او چگونه شخصی بود؟»

⁸They answered him, “He was a hairy man, and wearing a leather belt around his waist.” He said, “It is Elijah the Tishbite.”

⁸ آنها جواب دادند: «او ردایی پوستین پوشیده بود و کمربندی چرمی به ‌کمر داشت.» پادشاه گفت: «او ایلیای تشبی است.»

⁹Then the king sent a captain of fifty with his fifty to him. He went up to him; and behold, he was sitting on the top of the hill. He said to him, “Man of God, the king has said, ‘Come down!’”

⁹ آنگاه پادشاه سرداری را با پنجاه نفر از سپاهیانش نزد ایلیا فرستاد. او به راه افتاد و ایلیا را دید که بر تپّه‌ای نشسته است و به او گفت: «ای مرد خدا، پادشاه امر کرده است که نزد او بروی.»

¹⁰Elijah answered to the captain of fifty, “If I am a man of God, let fire come down from the sky, and consume you and your fifty!” Fire came down from the sky, and consumed him and his fifty.

¹⁰ ایلیا در جواب سردار گفت: «اگر من مرد خدا هستم، پس آتشی از آسمان فرود آید و تو را با پنجاه نفر همراهانت نابود کند.» ناگهان آتشی از آسمان فرود آمد و آن سردار و سپاهیانش را هلاک کرد.

¹¹Again he sent to him another captain of fifty and his fifty. He answered him, “Man of God, the king has said, ‘Come down quickly!’”

¹¹ پادشاه بار دیگر سرداری را با پنجاه نفر پیش ایلیا فرستاد. او رفت و به ایلیا گفت: «ای مرد خدا، پادشاه امر کرده است که فوراً نزد او بروی.»

¹²Elijah answered them, “If I am a man of God, let fire come down from the sky, and consume you and your fifty!” The fire of God came down from the sky, and consumed him and his fifty.

¹² ایلیا گفت: «اگر من مرد خدا هستم، پس آتشی از آسمان فرود آید و تو را با پنجاه نفر سپاهیانت از بین ببرد.» ناگهان آتشی از جانب خداوند پایین آمد و او را با همراهانش نابود کرد.

¹³Again he sent the captain of a third fifty with his fifty. The third captain of fifty went up, and came and fell on his knees before Elijah, and begged him, and said to him, “Man of God, please let my life, and the life of these fifty your servants, be precious in your sight.

¹³ پادشاه بار سوم سرداری را با پنجاه نفر نزد ایلیا فرستاد. سردار رفت و در برابر ایلیا زانو زد و با زاری گفت: «ای مرد خدا، از تو تمنّا می‌کنم که به من و همراهانم رحم کنی.

¹⁴Behold, fire came down from the sky, and consumed the two former captains of fifty with their fifties. But now let my life be precious in your sight.”

¹⁴ آن دو سرداری که با سپاهیان خود پیشتر از من به حضور تو آمدند، با آتش آسمانی هلاک شدند، امّا بر ما رحم داشته باش.»

¹⁵The angel of Yahweh said to Elijah, “Go down with him. Don’t be afraid of him.” He arose, and went down with him to the king.

¹⁵ آنگاه فرشتهٔ خداوند آمد و به ایلیا گفت: «همراه او برو و نترس.» پس ایلیا برخاست و با او نزد پادشاه رفت

¹⁶He said to him, “Thus says Yahweh, ‘Because you have sent messengers to inquire of Baal Zebub, the god of Ekron, is it because there is no God in Israel to inquire of his word? Therefore you shall not come down from the bed where you have gone up, but shall surely die.’”

¹⁶ و به او گفت: «خداوند می‌فرماید که تو قاصدانت را پیش بعل‌زبوب، خدای عقرون فرستادی و فکر کردی که خدایی در اسرائیل وجود ندارد، بنابراین از بستر بیماری زنده برنمی‌خیزی و حتماً می‌میری.»

¹⁷So he died according to the word of Yahweh which Elijah had spoken. Jehoram began to reign in his place in the second year of Jehoram the son of Jehoshaphat king of Judah; because he had no son.

¹⁷ پس او مطابق کلام خدا، که توسط ایلیا گفته شده بود، مرد و برادرش یهورام پادشاه اسرائیل شد، زیرا اخزیا پسری نداشت. شروع سلطنت او در سال دوم سلطنت یهورام، پسر یهوشافاط، پادشاه یهودا بود. بقیّهٔ وقایع دوران سلطنت اخزیا و کارهای او، در کتاب تاریخ پادشاهان اسرائیل نوشته شده‌ است.

¹⁸Now the rest of the acts of Ahaziah which he did, aren’t they written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?

¹⁸ بقیّهٔ وقایع دوران سلطنت اخزیا و کارهای او، در کتاب تاریخ پادشاهان اسرائیل نوشته شده‌ است.
