¹Now Ahab had seventy sons in Samaria. Jehu wrote letters, and sent to Samaria, to the rulers of Jezreel, even the elders, and to those who brought up the sons of Ahab, saying,

¹ هفتاد پسر از خاندان اخاب در سامره بودند. پس ییهو نامه‌هایی برای مقامات، بزرگان و سرپرستانِ پسران خاندان اخاب در سامره فرستاد و گفت:

²“Now as soon as this letter comes to you, since your master’s sons are with you, and there are with you chariots and horses, a fortified city also, and armor.

² «شما سرپرستانِ بازماندگان پادشاه هستید و ارّابه‌ها، اسبها و اسلحه و شهرهای مستحکم در اختیار دارید پس به محض دریافتِ این نامه،

³Select the best and fittest of your master’s sons, set him on his father’s throne, and fight for your master’s house.”

³ باید شایسته‌ترین پسرِ سرور خود را برگزینید تا جانشین پدرش شود و برای خاندان سرور خود بجنگید.»

⁴But they were exceedingly afraid, and said, “Behold, the two kings didn’t stand before him! How then shall we stand?”

⁴ امّا ایشان ترسیدند و با خود گفتند: «دو پادشاه نتوانستند در برابر او بایستند، ما چگونه می‌توانیم؟»

⁵He who was over the household, and he who was over the city, the elders also, and those who raised the children, sent to Jehu, saying, “We are your servants, and will do all that you ask us. We will not make any man king. You do that which is good in your eyes.”

⁵ آنگاه مسئول کاخ، فرماندار شهر با بزرگان و سرپرستان، پیامی برای ییهو فرستاده و گفتند: «ما بندگان تو هستیم. ما هر آنچه تو بگویی انجام خواهیم داد. ما کسی را پادشاه نخواهیم کرد، هرچه که فکر می‌کنی درست است، انجام بده.»

⁶Then he wrote a letter the second time to them, saying, “If you are on my side, and if you will listen to my voice, take the heads of the men your master’s sons, and come to me to Jezreel by tomorrow this time.” Now the king’s sons, being seventy persons, were with the great men of the city, who brought them up.

⁶ آنگاه ییهو دومین نامه را چنین نوشت: «اگر شما طرفدار من و آمادهٔ پیروی از من هستید، سر پسران سرورتان اخاب را تا فردا همین ساعت، با خود به یزرعیل نزد من بیاورید.» در آن وقت هفتاد پسر پادشاه، زیر نظر رهبران شهر پرورش می‌یافتند.

⁷It happened, when the letter came to them, that they took the king’s sons, and killed them, even seventy persons, and put their heads in baskets, and sent them to him to Jezreel.

⁷ هنگامی‌که نامه به آنها رسید، ایشان هفتاد پسر پادشاه را کشتند و سرهایشان را در سبدها گذاشتند و نزد ییهو به یزرعیل فرستادند.

⁸A messenger came, and told him, “They have brought the heads of the king’s sons.” He said, “Lay them in two heaps at the entrance of the gate until the morning.”

⁸ هنگامی‌که قاصد به ییهو گفت: «آنها سرهای پسران پادشاه را آورده‌اند.» او گفت: «آنها را در دو توده تا صبح در کنار دروازهٔ شهر بگذارید.»

⁹It happened in the morning, that he went out, and stood, and said to all the people, “You are righteous. Behold, I conspired against my master, and killed him; but who struck all these?

⁹ بامدادان بیرون رفت و ایستاد و به همهٔ مردم گفت: «شما بی‌گناه هستید. این من بودم که علیه سرورم توطئه کردم و او را کشتم، امّا چه کسی همهٔ ایشان را کشته است؟

¹⁰Know now that nothing shall fall to the earth of the word of Yahweh, which Yahweh spoke concerning the house of Ahab. For Yahweh has done that which he spoke by his servant Elijah.”

¹⁰ این ثابت می‌کند که هرچه خداوند در مورد بازماندگان اخاب فرموده است به حقیقت خواهد پیوست. خداوند هرچه را که توسط ایلیای نبی گفته بود، انجام داد.»

¹¹So Jehu struck all that remained of the house of Ahab in Jezreel, with all his great men, his familiar friends, and his priests, until he left him none remaining.

¹¹ آنگاه ییهو بقیّهٔ خاندان اخاب و همهٔ بزرگان، دوستان و کاهنان او را کشت تا دیگر کسی از آنها باقی نماند.

¹²He arose and departed, and went to Samaria. As he was at the shearing house of the shepherds on the way,

¹² ییهو سپس رهسپار سامره شد. در بین راه به جایی که محل اجتماع چوپانها بود،

¹³Jehu met with the brothers of Ahaziah king of Judah, and said, “Who are you?” They answered, “We are the brothers of Ahaziah. We are going down to greet the children of the king and the children of the queen.”

¹³ به خویشاوندان اخزیا، پادشاه یهودا برخورد. از ایشان پرسید: «شما کیستید؟» ایشان پاسخ دادند: «ما از خویشاوندان اخزیا هستیم و به دیدار شاهزاده‌ها و ملکه ایزابل می‌رویم.»

¹⁴He said, “Take them alive!” They took them alive, and killed them at the pit of the shearing house, even forty-two men. He didn’t leave any of them.

¹⁴ ییهو به مردان خود دستور داد: «آنها را زنده دستگیر کنید.» پس آنها را که چهل و دو نفر بودند، دستگیر کردند و در کنار گودالی در آنجا کشتند و هیچ‌کدام از ایشان زنده نماند.

¹⁵When he had departed from there, he met Jehonadab the son of Rechab coming to meet him. He greeted him, and said to him, “Is your heart right, as my heart is with your heart?” Jehonadab answered, “It is.” “If it is, give me your hand.” He gave him his hand; and he took him up to him into the chariot.

¹⁵ هنگامی‌که آنجا را ترک کرد، یهوناداب پسر رکاب را دید که به استقبالش می‌آمد. ییهو به او سلام کرد و گفت: «من و تو هم فکر هستیم، آیا از من حمایت می‌کنی؟» یهوناداب پاسخ داد: «بله، حمایت خواهم کرد.» ییهو گفت: «اگر چنین است دست خود را به من بده» و او دست خود را دراز کرد و ییهو دست او را گرفت و بالا کشید و بر ارّابه سوار کرد.

¹⁶He said, “Come with me, and see my zeal for Yahweh.” So they made him ride in his chariot.

¹⁶ ییهو گفت: «با من بیا و غیرتی را که برای خداوند دارم ببین.» آنها با یکدیگر به سوی سامره راندند.

¹⁷When he came to Samaria, he struck all who remained to Ahab in Samaria, until he had destroyed him, according to the word of Yahweh, which he spoke to Elijah.

¹⁷ هنگامی‌که به آنجا رسیدند، ییهو مطابق کلامی که خداوند به ایلیا گفته بود، تمام بازماندگان اخاب را که در سامره بودند، کشت و از بین برد.

¹⁸Jehu gathered all the people together, and said to them, “Ahab served Baal a little; but Jehu will serve him much.

¹⁸ ییهو تمام مردم سامره را گرد آورد و به آنها گفت: «اخاب، بعل را اندکی خدمت کرد ولی ییهو او را خیلی بیشتر خدمت خواهد نمود.

¹⁹Now therefore call to me all the prophets of Baal, all of his worshippers, and all of his priests. Let none be absent; for I have a great sacrifice to Baal. Whoever is absent, he shall not live.” But Jehu did it in subtlety, intending that he might destroy the worshippers of Baal.

¹⁹ پس اکنون همهٔ انبیای بعل و تمام کسانی‌که او را پرستش می‌کنند و همهٔ کاهنان او را گرد هم بیاورید. زیرا من قربانی بزرگی برای بعل دارم، هرکس که غایب باشد، زنده نخواهد ماند.» امّا ییهو حیله‌گری می‌کرد تا به این وسیله پرستندگان بعل را نابود کند.

²⁰Jehu said, “Sanctify a solemn assembly for Baal!” They proclaimed it.

²⁰ آنگاه ییهو فرمان داد تا روزی را برای پرستش بعل اعلام کنند و چنین کردند.

²¹Jehu sent through all Israel; and all the worshippers of Baal came, so that there was not a man left that didn’t come. They came into the house of Baal; and the house of Baal was filled from one end to another.

²¹ ییهو به سراسر اسرائیل پیام فرستاد و تمام کسانی‌که بعل را پرستش می‌کردند، آمدند و کسی نبود که نیامده باشد. ایشان وارد پرستشگاه بعل شدند و سرتاسر آن را پر کردند.

²²He said to him who was over the vestry, “Bring out robes for all the worshippers of Baal!” He brought robes out to them.

²² او به کسی‌که مسئول لباسها بود گفت: «لباسها را برای پرستش بعل بیرون بیاور و به همهٔ پرستندگان بعل بده.» او برای ایشان لباسها را بیرون آورد.

²³Jehu went with Jehonadab the son of Rechab into the house of Baal. Then he said to the worshippers of Baal, “Search, and look that there are here with you none of the servants of Yahweh, but the worshippers of Baal only.”

²³ آنگاه ییهو و یهوناداب پسر رکاب داخل پرستشگاه بعل شدند و به پرستندگان بعل گفت: «مطمئن شوید که فقط پرستندگان بعل حاضر باشند و کسی از پرستندگان خداوند داخل نشده باشد.»

²⁴They went in to offer sacrifices and burnt offerings. Now Jehu had appointed him eighty men outside, and said, “If any of the men whom I bring into your hands escape, he who lets him go, his life shall be for the life of him.”

²⁴ آنگاه ایشان داخل پرستشگاه شدند تا قربانی و هدایای سوختنی تقدیم کنند. ییهو هشتاد نفر در خارج پرستشگاه گماشته بود و به ایشان دستور داد: «همه را بکشید. اگر بگذارید کسی فرار کند، شما به جای او کشته خواهید شد.»

²⁵It happened, as soon as he had made an end of offering the burnt offering, that Jehu said to the guard and to the captains, “Go in, and kill them! Let none escape.” They struck them with the edge of the sword; and the guard and the captains cast them out, and went to the city of the house of Baal.

²⁵ پس از تقدیم هدایای سوختنی، بی‌درنگ ییهو به محافظین و افسران خود گفت: «داخل شوید و همه را بکشید، اجازه ندهید کسی فرار کند.» آنگاه آنها را از لبهٔ تیغ گذراندند و اجسادشان را بیرون انداختند و به قسمت اندرونی پرستشگاه بعل رفتند

²⁶They brought out the pillars that were in the house of Baal, and burned them.

²⁶ و ستون بعل را بیرون آوردند و سوزاندند.

²⁷They broke down the pillar of Baal, and broke down the house of Baal, and made it a latrine, to this day.

²⁷ پس ایشان ستون و پرستشگاه بعل را ویران کردند و آنجا را به آبریزگاه تبدیل نمودند که تا به امروز باقی است.

²⁸Thus Jehu destroyed Baal out of Israel.

²⁸ ییهو به این‌گونه اسرائیل را از وجود بعل پاکسازی کرد.

²⁹However from the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, with which he made Israel to sin, Jehu didn’t depart from after them, the golden calves that were in Bethel, and that were in Dan.

²⁹ امّا ییهو از گناهان یربعام پسر نباط که اسرائیل را به گناه کشید، بازنگشت؛ یعنی از پرستش گوساله‌های طلایی که در بیت‌ئیل و دان بودند.

³⁰Yahweh said to Jehu, “Because you have done well in executing that which is right in my eyes, and have done to the house of Ahab according to all that was in my heart, your sons of the fourth generation shall sit on the throne of Israel.”

³⁰ خداوند به ییهو فرمود: «چون تو کارهایی را که در نظر من نیکو هستند، به خوبی انجام داده‌ای و آنچه که خواست من بود با خاندان اخاب نمودی، فرزندان تو تا چهار نسل بر تخت اسرائیل خواهند نشست.»

³¹But Jehu took no heed to walk in the law of Yahweh, the God of Israel, with all his heart. He didn’t depart from the sins of Jeroboam, with which he made Israel to sin.

³¹ امّا ییهو با تمام دلش از قوانین خداوند خدای اسرائیل پیروی نکرد و از گناهان یربعام که اسرائیل را به گناه کشانده بود، دوری ننمود.

³²In those days Yahweh began to cut off from Israel; and Hazael struck them in all the borders of Israel;

³² در آن زمان خداوند خواست تا از وسعت سرزمین اسرائیل بکاهد. حزائیل، پادشاه سوریه بر تمام سرزمین اسرائیل پیروز شد.

³³from the Jordan eastward, all the land of Gilead, the Gadites, and the Reubenites, and the Manassites, from Aroer, which is by the valley of the Arnon, even Gilead and Bashan.

³³ از رود اردن به طرف شرق تمام سرزمین جلعاد، جاد، رئوبین و منسی از عروعیر که در نزدیکی وادی ارنون تا جلعاد و باشان را تصرّف کرد.

³⁴Now the rest of the acts of Jehu, and all that he did, and all his might, aren’t they written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?

³⁴ بقیّهٔ کارهای ییهو و هرچه انجام داد و تمام قدرت او در کتاب تاریخ پادشاهان اسرائیل نوشته شده است.

³⁵Jehu slept with his fathers; and they buried him in Samaria. Jehoahaz his son reigned in his place.

³⁵ ییهو درگذشت و به اجدادش پیوست و او را در سامره به خاک سپردند. پسرش، یهوآخاز جانشین او شد. ییهو مدّت بیست و هشت سال در سامره بر اسرائیل پادشاهی کرد.

³⁶The time that Jehu reigned over Israel in Samaria was twenty-eight years.

³⁶ ییهو مدّت بیست و هشت سال در سامره بر اسرائیل پادشاهی کرد.
