¹In the second year of Joash son of Joahaz king of Israel began Amaziah the son of Joash king of Judah to reign.

¹ در سال دوم سلطنت یهوآش پسر یهوآخاز، پادشاه اسرائیل، امصیا پسر یوآش پادشاه یهودا شد.

²He was twenty-five years old when he began to reign; and he reigned twenty-nine years in Jerusalem: and his mother’s name was Jehoaddin of Jerusalem.

² او در سن بیست و پنج سالگی به سلطنت رسید و مدّت بیست و نُه سال در اورشلیم پادشاهی کرد. نام مادرش یهوعدان و از اهالی اورشلیم بود.

³He did that which was right in the eyes of Yahweh, yet not like David his father: he did according to all that Joash his father had done.

³ او مانند جدش داوود، آنچه را در نظر خداوند نیک بود، بجا می‌آورد.

⁴However the high places were not taken away: the people still sacrificed and burnt incense in the high places.

⁴ او پرستشگاههای بالای تپّه‌ها را ویران نکرد و مردم هنوز در آنجا قربانی می‌کردند و بُخور می‌سوزاندند.

⁵It happened, as soon as the kingdom was established in his hand, that he killed his servants who had slain the king his father:

⁵ پس از اینکه قدرت را کاملاً در دست گرفت، خادمینی که پدرش را کشته بودند، به قتل رساند.

⁶but the children of the murderers he didn’t put to death; according to that which is written in the book of the law of Moses, as Yahweh commanded, saying, “The fathers shall not be put to death for the children, nor the children be put to death for the fathers; but every man shall die for his own sin.”

⁶ امّا او فرزندان قاتلین پدرش را نکشت و با آنها مطابق کتاب قوانین موسی رفتار کرد که خداوند می‌فرماید: «والدین نباید به‌خاطر جنایت فرزندانشان کشته شوند و فرزندان نباید به‌خاطر جنایت والدینشان کشته شوند، هرکس باید به‌خاطر جنایتی که خود مرتکب شده است، کشته شود.»

⁷He killed of Edom in the Valley of Salt ten thousand, and took Sela by war, and called its name Joktheel, to this day.

⁷ امصیا ده هزار نفر سرباز اَدومی را در درّهٔ نمک کشت و شهر سالع را در نبرد گرفت و آن را یُقتئیل نام نهاد که تا به امروز به همان نام خوانده می‌شود.

⁸Then Amaziah sent messengers to Jehoash, the son of Jehoahaz son of Jehu, king of Israel, saying, “Come, let us look one another in the face.”

⁸ آنگاه امصیا قاصدانی نزد یهوآش، پادشاه اسرائیل فرستاد و او را به جنگ دعوت کرد.

⁹Jehoash the king of Israel sent to Amaziah king of Judah, saying, “The thistle that was in Lebanon sent to the cedar that was in Lebanon, saying, ‘Give your daughter to my son as wife. Then a wild animal that was in Lebanon passed by, and trampled down the thistle.

⁹ امّا یهوآش پادشاه اسرائیل به او چنین پاسخ داد: «روزی بوتهٔ خاری در کوههای لبنان برای درخت سرو پیام فرستاد که دخترت را به پسر من به همسری بده. حیوان وحشی لبنان که از آنجا می‌گذشت خار را لگدمال کرد.

¹⁰You have indeed struck Edom, and your heart has lifted you up. Enjoy the glory of it, and stay at home; for why should you meddle to your harm, that you should fall, even you, and Judah with you?’”

¹⁰ اکنون ای امصیا تو اَدومی‌ها را شکست داده‌ای و مغرور شده‌ای، به شهرت خود راضی باش و در خانه‌ات بمان. چرا برای خودت و قومت مشکل ایجاد می‌کنی؟»

¹¹But Amaziah would not listen. So Jehoash king of Israel went up; and he and Amaziah king of Judah looked one another in the face at Beth Shemesh, which belongs to Judah.

¹¹ امّا امصیا گوش نکرد، پس یهوآش، پادشاه با سربازان خود خارج شد و علیه او در بیت شمس در یهودا به نبرد پرداخت.

¹²Judah was defeated by Israel; and they fled every man to his tent.

¹² یهودا از اسرائیل شکست خورد و همهٔ سربازان به خانه‌های خود گریختند.

¹³Jehoash king of Israel took Amaziah king of Judah, the son of Jehoash the son of Ahaziah, at Beth Shemesh, and came to Jerusalem, and broke down the wall of Jerusalem from the gate of Ephraim to the corner gate, four hundred cubits.

¹³ یهوآش امصیا را دستگیر کرد و بعد با سپاه خود به اورشلیم رفت. دیوار اورشلیم را از دروازهٔ افرایم تا دروازهٔ زاویه که یکصد و هشتاد متر طول داشت ویران کرد.

¹⁴He took all the gold and silver, and all the vessels that were found in the house of Yahweh, and in the treasures of the king’s house, the hostages also, and returned to Samaria.

¹⁴ تمام نقره، طلا و ظروفی را که در معبد بزرگ و خزانهٔ کاخ شاهی بود، گرفت و با گروگانها به سامره بازگشت.

¹⁵Now the rest of the acts of Jehoash which he did, and his might, and how he fought with Amaziah king of Judah, aren’t they written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?

¹⁵ بقیّهٔ کارهای یهوآش، شجاعت او و چگونه با امصیا، پادشاه یهودا جنگید، در کتاب تاریخ پادشاهان اسرائیل نوشته شده‌ است.

¹⁶Jehoash slept with his fathers, and was buried in Samaria with the kings of Israel; and Jeroboam his son reigned in his place.

¹⁶ یهوآش درگذشت و در سامره با پادشاهان اسرائیل به خاک سپرده شد. سپس پسر او یربعام جانشین او شد.

¹⁷Amaziah the son of Joash king of Judah lived after the death of Jehoash son of Jehoahaz king of Israel fifteen years.

¹⁷ امصیا پادشاه، پانزده سال پس از مرگ یهوآش پسر یهوآخاز زندگی کرد.

¹⁸Now the rest of the acts of Amaziah, aren’t they written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?

¹⁸ بقیّهٔ وقایع دوران سلطنت امصیا، در کتاب تاریخ پادشاهان یهودا نوشته شده‌اند.

¹⁹They made a conspiracy against him in Jerusalem; and he fled to Lachish: but they sent after him to Lachish, and killed him there.

¹⁹ در اورشلیم علیه او توطئه کردند و او به شهر لاکیش گریخت. امّا دشمنانش او را دنبال کردند و در آنجا او را کشتند.

²⁰They brought him on horses; and he was buried at Jerusalem with his fathers in the city of David.

²⁰ جسد او بر روی اسبی به اورشلیم حمل شد و در آنجا در گور سلطنتی در شهر داوود به‌ خاک سپرده شد.

²¹All the people of Judah took Azariah, who was sixteen years old, and made him king in the place of his father Amaziah.

²¹ مردم یهودا پسر شانزده سالهٔ او، عَزَریا را به جای پدرش به تخت نشاندند.

²²He built Elath, and restored it to Judah, after that the king slept with his fathers.

²² عزریا پس از وفات پدر خود، اِیلَت را دوباره آباد کرد و به یهودا بازگرداند.

²³In the fifteenth year of Amaziah the son of Joash king of Judah, Jeroboam the son of Joash king of Israel began to reign in Samaria for forty-one years.

²³ در سال پانزدهم سلطنت امصیا پادشاه یهودا، یربعام پسر یهوآش در سامره پادشاه اسرائیل شد و مدّت چهل و یک سال سلطنت کرد.

²⁴He did that which was evil in the sight of Yahweh: he didn’t depart from all the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, with which he made Israel to sin.

²⁴ او آنچه را که در نظر خداوند پلید بود، انجام داد و از همهٔ گناهان یربعام، پسر نباط که مردم اسرائیل را به گناه کشاند، دوری نجست.

²⁵He restored the border of Israel from the entrance of Hamath to the sea of the Arabah, according to the word of Yahweh, the God of Israel, which he spoke by his servant Jonah the son of Amittai, the prophet, who was of Gath Hepher.

²⁵ او تمام سرزمینهایی را که به اسرائیل تعلّق داشت، دوباره تسخیر کرد، از گذرگاه حَمات در شمال تا دریای مرده در جنوب. این بود آنچه که خداوند خدای اسرائیل به وسیلهٔ خدمتگزار خود یونس نبی، پسر اَمِتای، اهل جت حافر، وعده داده بود.

²⁶For Yahweh saw the affliction of Israel, that it was very bitter; for there was none shut up nor left at large, neither was there any helper for Israel.

²⁶ خداوند مصیبت عظیمی در میان بنی‌اسرائیل دید و کسی نبود که به ایشان کمک کند.

²⁷Yahweh didn’t say that he would blot out the name of Israel from under the sky; but he saved them by the hand of Jeroboam the son of Joash.

²⁷ امّا نابودی کامل و همیشگی اسرائیل، هدف خداوند نبود، پس او به وسیلهٔ یربعام دوم ایشان را نجات داد.

²⁸Now the rest of the acts of Jeroboam, and all that he did, and his might, how he warred, and how he recovered Damascus, and Hamath, which had belonged to Judah, for Israel, aren’t they written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?

²⁸ همهٔ کارهای یربعام دوم، نبردهای شجاعانه او و چگونگی بازگرداندن دمشق و حمات به اسرائیل در کتاب تاریخ پادشاهان اسرائیل ثبت شده‌ است. یربعام درگذشت و در گورستان سلطنتی به‌ خاک سپرده شد و پسرش زَکریا به جای او به تخت پادشاهی نشست.

²⁹Jeroboam slept with his fathers, even with the kings of Israel; and Zechariah his son reigned in his place.

²⁹ یربعام درگذشت و در گورستان سلطنتی به‌ خاک سپرده شد و پسرش زَکریا به جای او به تخت پادشاهی نشست.
