¹When David was a little past the top, behold, Ziba the servant of Mephibosheth met him, with a couple of donkeys saddled, and on them two hundred loaves of bread, and one hundred clusters of raisins, and one hundred summer fruits, and a bottle of wine.

¹ هنگامی‌که داوود از بالای کوه سرازیر شد صیبا خادم مفیبوشت را دید که منتظر اوست و با خود چند الاغ پالان شده، دویست قرص نان، صد بسته کشمش، صد بسته میوهٔ تازه و یک مشک شراب آورده بود.

²The king said to Ziba, What do you mean by these? Ziba said, The donkeys are for the king’s household to ride on; and the bread and summer fruit for the young men to eat; and the wine, that such as are faint in the wilderness may drink.

² پادشاه از صیبا پرسید: «اینها را برای چه آوردی؟» صیبا جواب داد: «الاغها را برای آن آوردم تا خانوادهٔ پادشاه از آنها برای سواری استفاده کنند. کشمش و میوه را برای خادمان و شراب را برای نوشیدن خستگان در بیابان آوردم.»

³The king said, “Where is your master’s son?” Ziba said to the king, “Behold, he is staying in Jerusalem; for he said, ‘Today the house of Israel will restore me the kingdom of my father.’”

³ پادشاه پرسید: «نوهٔ اربابت کجاست؟» صیبا جواب داد: «او هنوز در اورشلیم است. به من گفت که قوم اسرائیل سلطنت پدربزرگش، شائول را به او برمی‌گردانند.»

⁴Then the king said to Ziba, “Behold, all that pertains to Mephibosheth is yours.” Ziba said, “I do obeisance. Let me find favor in your sight, my lord, O king.”

⁴ پادشاه گفت: «هر آنچه از آن اوست را به تو می‌دهم.» صیبا گفت: «پادشاها من بندهٔ تو هستم. باشد که همیشه از من خشنود باشید.»

⁵When king David came to Bahurim, behold, a man of the family of the house of Saul came out, whose name was Shimei, the son of Gera. He came out, and cursed still as he came.

⁵ وقتی داوود به بحوریم رسید، شخصی از خانوادهٔ شائول به نام شمعی، پسر جیرا به سر راهشان آمده، دشنام داد

⁶He cast stones at David, and at all the servants of king David, and all the people and all the mighty men were on his right hand and on his left.

⁶ و به طرف داوود پادشاه، خادمان، مأموران و دلاورانی که دور او بودند، سنگ می‌انداخت

⁷Shimei said when he cursed, “Be gone, be gone, you man of blood, and base fellow!

⁷ و گفت: «برو گمشو ای مرد قاتل و پست.

⁸Yahweh has returned on you all the blood of the house of Saul, in whose place you have reigned! Yahweh has delivered the kingdom into the hand of Absalom your son! Behold, you are caught by your own mischief, because you are a man of blood!”

⁸ خداوند انتقام خون خاندان شائول را که تو به جایش پادشاه شدی از تو گرفت. مصیبتی بر تو آمد و تو را از سلطنت برداشت و پسرت ابشالوم را جانشینت ساخت. ای قاتل خونریز.»

⁹Then Abishai the son of Zeruiah said to the king, “Why should this dead dog curse my lord the king? Please let me go over and take off his head.”

⁹ آنگاه ابیشای پسر صرویه پیش آمد و به پادشاه گفت: «چطور اجازه می‌دهی که این سگ مرده به آقای من، پادشاه دشنام بدهد؟ اجازه بدهید که بروم و سرش را از تن جدا کنم؟»

¹⁰The king said, “What have I to do with you, you sons of Zeruiah? Because he curses, and because Yahweh has said to him, ‘Curse David;’ who then shall say, ‘Why have you done so?’”

¹⁰ امّا پادشاه به ابیشای و یوآب گفت: «این کار به شما مربوط نیست. اگر او به من دشنام می‌دهد، خداوند به او گفته است. پس چه کسی می‌تواند به او بگوید که چرا این کار را می‌کنی؟»

¹¹David said to Abishai, and to all his servants, “Behold, my son, who came forth from my bowels, seeks my life. How much more this Benjamite, now? Leave him alone, and let him curse; for Yahweh has invited him.

¹¹ بعد داوود به ابیشای و همهٔ خادمان خود گفت: «چرا از دشنام این بنیامینی تعجّب می‌کنید؟ پسر من که از رگ و خون من است، قصد کشتن مرا دارد. بگذارید دشنامم بدهد، زیرا خداوند به او چنین گفته است.

¹²It may be that Yahweh will look on the wrong done to me, and that Yahweh will repay me good for the cursing of me today.”

¹² شاید خداوند غم و پریشانی مرا ببیند و به‌خاطر این دشنامها، مرا برکت بدهد.»

¹³So David and his men went by the way; and Shimei went along on the hillside opposite him, and cursed as he went, threw stones at him, and threw dust.

¹³ داوود و همراهان او به راه خود ادامه دادند و شمعی هم درحالی‌که دشنام می‌داد و به طرف داوود سنگ می‌انداخت و خاک به هوا می‌پاشید در جهت مخالف به سوی کوه رفت.

¹⁴The king, and all the people who were with him, came weary; and he refreshed himself there.

¹⁴ پادشاه و همهٔ کسانی‌که با او بودند خسته و درمانده به مقصد رسیدند و استراحت کردند.

¹⁵Absalom, and all the people, the men of Israel, came to Jerusalem, and Ahithophel with him.

¹⁵ ابشالوم و پیروان او همراه با اخیتوفل به اورشلیم آمدند.

¹⁶It happened, when Hushai the Archite, David’s friend, had come to Absalom, that Hushai said to Absalom, “Long live the king! Long live the king!”

¹⁶ وقتی حوشای ارکی، دوست داوود پیش ابشالوم آمد، به او گفت: «زنده باد پادشاه! زنده باد پادشاه!»

¹⁷Absalom said to Hushai, “Is this your kindness to your friend? Why didn’t you go with your friend?”

¹⁷ ابشالوم از حوشای پرسید: «آیا وفاداری خود را به دوستت به این قسم نشان می‌دهی؟ چرا همراه دوستت نرفتی؟»

¹⁸Hushai said to Absalom, “No; but whomever Yahweh, and this people, and all the men of Israel have chosen, his will I be, and with him I will stay.

¹⁸ حوشای جواب داد: «من خدمتکار کسی می‌باشم و پیش آن شخصی می‌مانم که از طرف خداوند و اکثریت مردم اسرائیل انتخاب شده باشد.

¹⁹Again, whom should I serve? Shouldn’t I serve in the presence of his son? As I have served in your father’s presence, so will I be in your presence.”

¹⁹ از طرف دیگر، چون در خدمت پدرت بودم، می‌خواهم در خدمت شما نیز باشم.»

²⁰Then Absalom said to Ahithophel, “Give your counsel what we shall do.”

²⁰ آنگاه ابشالوم از اخیتوفل پرسید: «حالا که به اینجا رسیدیم چه باید کرد؟»

²¹Ahithophel said to Absalom, “Go in to your father’s concubines, that he has left to keep the house. Then all Israel will hear that you are abhorred by your father. Then the hands of all who are with you will be strong.”

²¹ اخیتوفل گفت: «برو با همهٔ صیغه‌های پدرت که از خانه‌اش نگهداری می‌کنند، همبستر شو. آنگاه همهٔ مردم اسرائیل می‌دانند که تو در نظر پدرت منفور شده‌ای و در نتیجه بیشتر از تو پشتیبانی می‌کنند.»

²²So they spread Absalom a tent on the top of the house; and Absalom went in to his father’s concubines in the sight of all Israel.

²² پس چادری برای ابشالوم به پشت بام برپا کردند و ابشالوم درحالی‌که همهٔ مردم اسرائیل تماشا می‌کردند وارد چادر شد و با همهٔ صیغه‌های پدر خود همبستر شد. به این ترتیب هر پیشنهادی که اخیتوفل می‌داد، ابشالوم مانند داوود آن را قبول می‌کرد و در نظر او آن‌قدر عاقلانه می‌بود که گویی کلام خداست.

²³The counsel of Ahithophel, which he gave in those days, was as if a man inquired at the oracle of God: so was all the counsel of Ahithophel both with David and with Absalom.

²³ به این ترتیب هر پیشنهادی که اخیتوفل می‌داد، ابشالوم مانند داوود آن را قبول می‌کرد و در نظر او آن‌قدر عاقلانه می‌بود که گویی کلام خداست.
