¹It happened after this, that Absalom prepared him a chariot and horses, and fifty men to run before him.

¹ بعد از مدّتی ابشالوم ارّابه و اسبهایی آماده کرد و نیز یک گروه محافظ پنجاه نفری را که در جلوی او می‌دویدند، استخدام کرد.

²Absalom rose up early, and stood beside the way of the gate. It was so, that when any man had a suit which should come to the king for judgment, then Absalom called to him, and said, “What city are you from?” He said, “Your servant is of one of the tribes of Israel.”

² او هر روز، صبح زود از خواب بیدار می‌شد و به دروازهٔ شهر رفته می‌ایستاد. هرکسی که برای رسیدگی به شکایت خود نزد پادشاه می‌رفت، ابشالوم او را صدا می‌کرد و می‌پرسید: «از کدام شهر هستی؟» و هنگامی‌که او می‌گفت که از فلان طایفهٔ اسرائیل است،

³Absalom said to him, “Behold, your matters are good and right; but there is no man deputized by the king to hear you.”

³ ابشالوم به او می‌گفت: «ادّعای تو درست است، امّا پادشاه کسی را ندارد که به ادّعای تو رسیدگی کند.

⁴Absalom said moreover, “Oh that I were made judge in the land, that every man who has any suit or cause might come to me, and I would do him justice!”

⁴ ای کاش من قاضی بودم و آن وقت هرکس که دعوایی داشت، پیش من می‌آمد و من از روی عدل و انصاف به دعوای او رسیدگی می‌کردم.»

⁵It was so, that when any man came near to do him obeisance, he put forth his hand, and took hold of him, and kissed him.

⁵ هرگاه شخصی به او نزدیک می‌شد و تعظیم می‌کرد، ابشالوم با او دست می‌داد و او را می‌بوسید.

⁶Absalom did this sort of thing to all Israel who came to the king for judgment. So Absalom stole the hearts of the men of Israel.

⁶ به این ترتیب ابشالوم با همهٔ مردم اسرائیل که برای رسیدگی به شکایت خود به حضور پادشاه می‌آمدند، چنین رفتار می‌کرد و دل همهٔ مردم را به دست می‌آورد.

⁷It happened at the end of forty years, that Absalom said to the king, “Please let me go and pay my vow, which I have vowed to Yahweh, in Hebron.

⁷ بعد از چهار سال ابشالوم به پادشاه گفت: «خواهش می‌کنم که به من اجازه بدهید تا به حبرون بروم و نذری را که به خداوند کرده‌ام، ادا کنم.

⁸For your servant vowed a vow while I stayed at Geshur in Syria, saying, ‘If Yahweh shall indeed bring me again to Jerusalem, then I will serve Yahweh.’”

⁸ زیرا وقتی‌که در جشور بودم نذر کردم که اگر خداوند مرا دوباره به اورشلیم بازگرداند، به حبرون می‌روم و خداوند را پرستش می‌کنم.»

⁹The king said to him, “Go in peace.” So he arose, and went to Hebron.

⁹ پادشاه گفت: «برو، خدا نگهدارت.» پس ابشالوم به حبرون رفت.

¹⁰But Absalom sent spies throughout all the tribes of Israel, saying, “As soon as you hear the sound of the trumpet, then you shall say, ‘Absalom is king in Hebron!’”

¹⁰ امّا ابشالوم به سراسر اسرائیل جاسوسانی با این پیام فرستاد: «هنگامی‌که صدای شیپور را شنیدید، بگویید: ابشالوم پادشاه حبرون است.»

¹¹Two hundred men went with Absalom out of Jerusalem, who were invited, and went in their simplicity; and they didn’t know anything.

¹¹ دویست نفر که ابشالوم آنها را دعوت نموده بود با وی از اورشلیم به حبرون رفتند. امّا آنها از اهداف وی خبر نداشتند.

¹²Absalom sent for Ahithophel the Gilonite, David’s counselor, from his city, even from Giloh, while he was offering the sacrifices. The conspiracy was strong; for the people increased continually with Absalom.

¹² هنگام مراسم قربانی، ابشالوم اخیتوفل جیلونی را که مشاور داوود بود از شهر جیلوه پیش خود خواند. به این ترتیب، دسیسه دامنه‌دار شد و به تعداد طرفداران ابشالوم افزود.

¹³A messenger came to David, saying, “The hearts of the men of Israel are after Absalom.”

¹³ کسی برای داوود به اورشلیم خبر آورده گفت: «مردم اسرائیل، ابشالوم را پیروی می‌کنند.»

¹⁴David said to all his servants who were with him at Jerusalem, “Arise, and let us flee; for else none of us shall escape from Absalom. Make speed to depart, lest he overtake us quickly, and bring down evil on us, and strike the city with the edge of the sword.”

¹⁴ آنگاه داوود به تمام مردانی که با او در اورشلیم بودند گفت: «اگر می‌خواهید از دست ابشالوم جان سالم بدر ببریم، باید هرچه زودتر از اینجا فرار کنیم. وگرنه ابشالوم بزودی به اینجا می‌رسد و ما را شکست خواهد داد و همهٔ مردم شهر را خواهد کُشت.»

¹⁵The king’s servants said to the king, “Behold, your servants are ready to do whatever my lord the king chooses.”

¹⁵ مردانش به او گفتند: «ما برای اجرای هر امر و خدمتی حاضر و آماده‌ایم.»

¹⁶The king went forth, and all his household after him. The king left ten women, who were concubines, to keep the house.

¹⁶ پس پادشاه و خانواده‌اش به راه افتادند، امّا داوود ده نفر از صیغه‌های خود را برای نگهداری خانه، همان‌جا گذاشت.

¹⁷The king went forth, and all the people after him; and they stayed in Beth Merhak.

¹⁷ هنگامی که داوود و افرادش شهر را ترک می‌کردند در آخرین خانه منزل کردند.

¹⁸All his servants passed on beside him; and all the Cherethites, and all the Pelethites, and all the Gittites, six hundred men who came after him from Gath, passed on before the king.

¹⁸ تمام مأمورینی که با او بودند، همراه با ششصد نفر از مردم جت که محافظین سلطنتی بودند، به دنبال او آمده، از جلوی او عبور کردند.

¹⁹Then the king said to Ittai the Gittite, “Why do you also go with us? Return, and stay with the king; for you are a foreigner, and also an exile. Return to your own place.

¹⁹ پادشاه از اِتای جتی پرسید: «تو چرا همراه ما آمدی؟ با همراهانت به اورشلیم پیش پادشاه ابشالوم پادشاه برو. چرا که تو یک بیگانه و دور از میهن خود هستی.

²⁰Whereas you came but yesterday, should I this day make you go up and down with us, since I go where I may? Return, and take back your brothers. Mercy and truth be with you.”

²⁰ دیروز بود که آمدی و امروز تو را باز با خود آواره سازم؟ خدا می‌داند که سرنوشت مرا به کجا خواهد برد. پس بازگرد و همراهانت را هم با خود ببر. خداوند پشت و پناهت باشد.»

²¹Ittai answered the king, and said, “As Yahweh lives, and as my lord the king lives, surely in what place my lord the king shall is, whether for death or for life, even there also will your servant be.”

²¹ امّا اتای به پادشاه گفت: «به نام خداوند و به جان شما سوگند یاد می‌کنم که به هر کجا بروید از شما جدا نمی‌شوم، چه در مرگ و چه در زندگی.»

²²David said to Ittai, “Go and pass over.” Ittai the Gittite passed over, and all his men, and all the little ones who were with him.

²² پادشاه گفت: «بسیار خوب، همراه ما بیا.» آنگاه اتای با همهٔ مردمان و کودکانشان از جلوی پادشاه عبور کردند.

²³All the country wept with a loud voice, and all the people passed over: the king also himself passed over the brook Kidron, and all the people passed over, toward the way of the wilderness.

²³ همگی درحالی‌که با صدای بلند گریه می‌کردند، همراه با پادشاه از وادی قدرون عبور کردند و به طرف بیابان به راه افتادند.

²⁴Behold, Zadok also came, and all the Levites with him, bearing the ark of the covenant of God; and they set down the ark of God; and Abiathar went up, until all the people finished passing out of the city.

²⁴ آنگاه ابیاتار، صادوق و همهٔ لاویان صندوق پیمان خداوند را در کنار جاده قرار دادند تا تمام مردم از شهر خارج شدند.

²⁵The king said to Zadok, “Carry back the ark of God into the city. If I find favor in the eyes of Yahweh, he will bring me again, and show me both it, and his habitation;

²⁵ بعد پادشاه به صادوق گفت: «صندوق خداوند را دوباره به شهر ببر و اگر خداوند به من لطف کند، مرا به اینجا باز خواهد گرداند تا دوباره صندوق و مسکن او را ببینم.

²⁶but if he say thus, ‘I have no delight in you;’ behold, here am I. Let him do to me as seems good to him.”

²⁶ ولی اگر او از من راضی نباشد، آنگاه خود را تسلیم خواست او خواهم کرد.»

²⁷The king said also to Zadok the priest, “Aren’t you a seer? Return into the city in peace, and your two sons with you, Ahimaaz your son, and Jonathan the son of Abiathar.

²⁷ بعد پادشاه به صادوق گفت: «ببین، به سلامتی به شهر بازگرد و پسرت اخیمعص و یوناتان پسر ابیاتار را هم با خود ببر.

²⁸Behold, I will stay at the fords of the wilderness, until word comes from you to inform me.”

²⁸ من در گذرگاه رودخانه منتظر پیام تو می‌باشم که مرا از چگونگی اوضاع اورشلیم آگاه کنی.»

²⁹Zadok therefore and Abiathar carried the ark of God again to Jerusalem; and they stayed there.

²⁹ پس صادوق و ابیاتار صندوق خداوند را دوباره به اورشلیم بردند و در آنجا ماندند.

³⁰David went up by the ascent of the Mount of Olives, and wept as he went up; and he had his head covered, and went barefoot: and all the people who were with him covered every man his head, and they went up, weeping as they went up.

³⁰ داوود درحالی‌که گریه می‌کرد پای برهنه و سر پوشیده به فراز کوه زیتون بالا رفت. همهٔ همراهان او هم سرهای خود را پوشانده بودند و به دنبال او می‌رفتند و می‌گریستند.

³¹Someone told David, saying, “Ahithophel is among the conspirators with Absalom.” David said, “Yahweh, please turn the counsel of Ahithophel into foolishness.”

³¹ وقتی کسی به داوود خبر داد که اخیتوفل، مشاور او با ابشالوم همدست شده است، گفت: «ای خداوند دعا می‌کنم که اخیتوفل پندهای احمقانه‌ای به ابشالوم بدهد.»

³²It happened that when David had come to the top, where God was worshiped, behold, Hushai the Archite came to meet him with his coat torn, and earth on his head.

³² چون داوود به بالای کوه، به جایی رسید که مردم برای عبادت جمع شده بودند، حوشای ارکی با جامهٔ دریده و خاک بر سر منتظر او بود.

³³David said to him, “If you pass on with me, then you will be a burden to me;

³³ داوود به او گفت: «آمدن تو با من کمکی به من نمی‌کند.

³⁴but if you return to the city, and tell Absalom, ‘I will be your servant, O king. As I have been your father’s servant in time past, so will I now be your servant; then will you defeat for me the counsel of Ahithophel.’

³⁴ ولی اگر به اورشلیم بازگردی می‌توانی مفید واقع شوی. به ابشالوم بگو همان‌طور که به پدرت خدمت کردم، همین کار را برای تو انجام خواهم داد و در این صورت می‌توانی نقشه‌های اخیتوفل را خنثی کنی.

³⁵Don’t you have Zadok and Abiathar the priests there with you? Therefore it shall be, that whatever thing you shall hear out of the king’s house, you shall tell it to Zadok and Abiathar the priests.

³⁵ صادوق و ابیاتار و پسرانشان، اخیمعص و یوناتان هم آنجا هستند. هرچه از خاندان پادشاه شنیدی به وسیلهٔ آنها برایم بفرست.» پس حوشای، دوست داوود روانهٔ شهر شد و هم زمان با ابشالوم وارد اورشلیم شد.

³⁶Behold, they have there with them their two sons, Ahimaaz, Zadok’s son, and Jonathan, Abiathar’s son; and by them you shall send to me everything that you shall hear.”

³⁶ پس حوشای، دوست داوود روانهٔ شهر شد و هم زمان با ابشالوم وارد اورشلیم شد.

³⁷So Hushai, David’s friend, came into the city; and Absalom came into Jerusalem.
