¹I command you therefore before God and the Lord Jesus Christ, who will judge the living and the dead at his appearing and his Kingdom:

¹ در پیشگاه خدا و در حضور مسیح عیسی كه بر زندگان و مردگان داوری خواهد كرد و به‌خاطر ظهور و پادشاهی او تو را موظّف می‌سازم

²preach the word; be urgent in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with all patience and teaching.

² كه پیام را اعلام كنی. در وقت و بی‌وقت آمادهٔ كار باش و دیگران را متقاعد و توبیخ و تشویق كن و با صبر و شكیبایی تمام تعلیم بده.

³For the time will come when they will not listen to the sound doctrine, but, having itching ears, will heap up for themselves teachers after their own lusts;

³ زیرا زمانی خواهد آمد كه آدمیان به تعلیم درست گوش نخواهند داد، بلكه از امیال خودشان پیروی خواهند کرد و برای خود معلّمین بیشتری جمع خواهند كرد تا نصایحی را كه خود دوست دارند از زبان آنها بشنوند.

⁴and will turn away their ears from the truth, and turn aside to fables.

⁴ آنها از شنیدن حقیقت خودداری می‌کنند و توجّه خود را به افسانه‌ها معطوف می‌دارند.

⁵But you be sober in all things, suffer hardship, do the work of an evangelist, and fulfill your ministry.

⁵ امّا تو باید در تمام شرایط هوشیار بوده و برای تحمّل رنج آماده باشی. در انتشار انجیل كوشش كن و وظیفهٔ خود را به عنوان خادم خدا انجام بده.

⁶For I am already being offered, and the time of my departure has come.

⁶ امّا من، وقت آن رسیده است كه قربانی شوم و زمان رحلتم رسیده است.

⁷I have fought the good fight. I have finished the course. I have kept the faith.

⁷ من در مسابقه نهایت كوشش خود را نموده‌ام و دورهٔ خود را تمام نموده، ایمانم را حفظ کرده‌ام.

⁸From now on, there is stored up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will give to me on that day; and not to me only, but also to all those who have loved his appearing.

⁸ اكنون تاج پیروزی در انتظار من است، همان تاج نیكی مطلق كه خداوند، یعنی آن داور عادل در روز بازپسین به من خواهد داد و آن را نه تنها به من، بلكه به همهٔ آنانی كه مشتاق ظهور او بوده‌اند، عنایت خواهد فرمود.

⁹Be diligent to come to me soon,

⁹ سعی كن كه هرچه زودتر پیش من بیایی،

¹⁰for Demas left me, having loved this present world, and went to Thessalonica; Crescens to Galatia, and Titus to Dalmatia.

¹⁰ زیرا «دیماس» به‌خاطر عشقی كه به این دنیا دارد، مرا ترک كرده و به تسالونیكی رفته و «كریسكیس» به غلاطیه و «تیطُس» به دلماطیه رفته است.

¹¹Only Luke is with me. Take Mark, and bring him with you, for he is useful to me for service.

¹¹ تنها «لوقا» با من است. «مرقس» را بردار و با خود بیاور، چون برای كارم مفید است.

¹²But I sent Tychicus to Ephesus.

¹² «تیخیكاس» را به افسس فرستادم.

¹³Bring the cloak that I left at Troas with Carpus when you come, and the books, especially the parchments.

¹³ در موقع آمدن، عبای مرا كه در شهر ترواس پیش «كرپس» جا گذاشتم و همچنین كتابها و از همه مهمتر نسخه‌های پوستی را بیاور.

¹⁴Alexander, the coppersmith, did much evil to me. The Lord will repay him according to his works,

¹⁴ «اسكندر مسگر» لطمهٔ بزرگی به من زد. خداوند مطابق کارهایش به او سزا خواهد داد.

¹⁵of whom you also must beware; for he greatly opposed our words.

¹⁵ تو نیز از او برحذر باش، زیرا شدیداً با پیام ما مخالف بود.

¹⁶At my first defense, no one came to help me, but all left me. May it not be held against them.

¹⁶ در اولین محاكمه من هیچ‌کس جانب مرا نگرفت، همه مرا ترک كردند. خدا این کار را به حسابشان نگذارد.

¹⁷But the Lord stood by me, and strengthened me, that through me the message might be fully proclaimed, and that all the Gentiles might hear; and I was delivered out of the mouth of the lion.

¹⁷ امّا خداوند یار من بود و قدرتی به من عطا كرد كه توانستم تمام پیام را اعلام كنم و آن را به گوش تمام ملل برسانم و به این وسیله از دهان شیر رهایی یافتم.

¹⁸And the Lord will deliver me from every evil work, and will preserve me for his heavenly Kingdom; to whom be the glory forever and ever. Amen.

¹⁸ خداوند مرا از همهٔ بدیها خواهد رهانید و مرا به سلامت به پادشاهی سماوی خود خواهد رسانید. بر او تا به ابد جلال باد! آمین.

¹⁹Greet Prisca and Aquila, and the house of Onesiphorus.

¹⁹ به «پرسکله» و «اكیلا» و خانواده «انی‌سی‌فورس» سلام برسان.

²⁰Erastus remained at Corinth, but I left Trophimus at Miletus sick.

²¹Be diligent to come before winter. Eubulus salutes you, as do Pudens, Linus, Claudia, and all the brothers.

²¹ سعی كن كه قبل از زمستان بیایی. «یوبولس»، «پودس»، «لینوس»، «كلادیه» و تمام ایمانداران سلام می‌رسانند. خداوند با روح تو باشد. فیض خدا با همهٔ شما باد.
