¹After the uproar had ceased, Paul sent for the disciples, took leave of them, and departed to go into Macedonia.

¹ همین‌که سر و صداها خوابید، پولس به دنبال شاگردان فرستاد و پس از تشویق آنان خداحافظی كرد و عازم مقدونیه شد.

²When he had gone through those parts, and had encouraged them with many words, he came into Greece.

² او در آن نواحی می‌گشت و همه‌جا با سخنان خود به شاگردان دلگرمی می‌داد و به این ترتیب به یونان رسید.

³When he had spent three months there, and a plot was made against him by Jews as he was about to set sail for Syria, he determined to return through Macedonia.

³ پس از سه ماه اقامت در آنجا، هنگامی‌که خواست با كشتی به سوریه برود، یهودیان علیه او توطئه چیدند. بنابراین او تصمیم گرفت از راه مقدونیه بازگردد.

⁴These accompanied him as far as Asia: Sopater of Beroea; Aristarchus and Secundus of the Thessalonians; Gaius of Derbe; Timothy; and Tychicus and Trophimus of Asia.

⁴ همراهان او عبارت بودند از سوپاترس بیریه‌ای و اَرِسْتَرخُس و سكندس تسالونیكی و غایوس دربه‌ای و تیموتاؤس و تیخیكاس و تروفیمس كه از اهالی استان آسیا بودند.

⁵But these had gone ahead, and were waiting for us at Troas.

⁵ اینها زودتر از ما رفتند و در شهر تروآس در انتظار ما ماندند.

⁶We sailed away from Philippi after the days of Unleavened Bread, and came to them at Troas in five days, where we stayed seven days.

⁶ خود ما پس از روزهای عید فطیر از فیلیپی سوار كشتی شدیم و پنج روز بعد در بندر تروآس به آنان رسیدیم و یک هفته در آنجا ماندیم.

⁷On the first day of the week, when the disciples were gathered together to break bread, Paul talked with them, intending to depart on the next day, and continued his speech until midnight.

⁷ در شب یكشنبه وقتی ما برای پاره كردن و خوردن نان دور هم جمع شدیم، پولس به علّت آنكه روز بعد عازم سفر بود، به تفصیل برای آنان صحبت كرد و تا نصف شب به سخنان خود ادامه داد.

⁸There were many lights in the upper room where we TR reads “they” instead of “we” were gathered together.

⁸ در بالا خانه‌ای كه ما در آن جمع شده بودیم، چراغهای زیادی روشن بود.

⁹A certain young man named Eutychus sat in the window, weighed down with deep sleep. As Paul spoke still longer, being weighed down by his sleep, he fell down from the third story, and was taken up dead.

⁹ جوانی به نام افتیخس جلوی پنجره نشسته بود و همین‌طور كه پولس صحبت می‌کرد رفته رفته خوابش گرفت، بالاخره خواب کاملاً بر او غالب شد و از طبقهٔ سوم به زیر افتاد و وقتی او را برداشتند مرده بود.

¹⁰Paul went down, and fell upon him, and embracing him said, “Don’t be troubled, for his life is in him.”

¹⁰ پولس پایین رفت و خود را روی او انداخت و او را در آغوش گرفت و به آنان گفت: «ناراحت نباشید، او هنوز زنده است.»

¹¹When he had gone up, and had broken bread, and eaten, and had talked with them a long while, even until break of day, he departed.

¹¹ پس پولس دوباره بالا رفت و نان را پاره كرد و خورد. و پس از گفت‌وگوهای بسیار كه تا سپیدهٔ صبح به طول انجامید پولس شهر را ترک كرد.

¹²They brought the boy in alive, and were greatly comforted.

¹² و آنان آن جوان را زنده به خانه بردند و خاطر همه از این بابت کاملاً راحت شد.

¹³But we who went ahead to the ship set sail for Assos, intending to take Paul aboard there, for he had so arranged, intending himself to go by land.

¹³ ما قبل از دیگران به طرف كشتی رفتیم، و به طوری که، پولس قبلاً قرار گذاشته بود به سوی اَسس حركت كردیم تا در آنجا پولس را سوار كنیم. زیرا او قصد داشت كه از راه خشكی به آنجا برود.

¹⁴When he met us at Assos, we took him aboard, and came to Mitylene.

¹⁴ وقتی پولس در اَسس به ما ملحق شد، او را سوار كشتی نمودیم و به بندر میلیتس آمدیم.

¹⁵Sailing from there, we came the following day opposite Chios. The next day we touched at Samos and stayed at Trogyllium, and the day after we came to Miletus.

¹⁵ روز بعد از دریا به مقابل جزیرهٔ خیوس رسیدیم و در روز دوم از آنجا به جزیره ساموس رفتیم. فردای آن روز وارد بندر میلیتس شدیم،

¹⁶For Paul had determined to sail past Ephesus, that he might not have to spend time in Asia; for he was hastening, if it were possible for him, to be in Jerusalem on the day of Pentecost.

¹⁶ زیرا پولس تصمیم گرفته بود، كه از كنار افسس عبور نماید تا از اتلاف وقت در استان آسیا جلوگیری شود زیرا او اشتیاق بسیار داشت كه در صورت امكان قبل از روز پنتیكاست در اورشلیم باشد.

¹⁷From Miletus he sent to Ephesus, and called to himself the elders of the assembly.

¹⁷ پولس از میلیتس پیامی به افسس فرستاد و رهبران كلیسا را فراخواند.

¹⁸When they had come to him, he said to them, “You yourselves know, from the first day that I set foot in Asia, how I was with you all the time,

¹⁸ وقتی آنها رسیدند به آنان گفت: «شما می‌دانید كه از اولین روزی كه من به استان آسیا پا گذاشتم، در تمام اوقاتی كه با شما بودم چگونه رفتار نمودم.

¹⁹serving the Lord with all humility, with many tears, and with trials which happened to me by the plots of the Jews;

¹⁹ یعنی با كمال تواضع و با اشکها و زحماتی كه به وسیلهٔ دسیسه‌های یهودیان برای من پیش می‌آمد، مانند یک غلام خداوند را خدمت كردم.

²⁰how I didn’t shrink from declaring to you anything that was profitable, teaching you publicly and from house to house,

²⁰ شما می‌دانید كه من برای خیر و صلاح شما از هیچ چیز مضایقه نكردم. من پیام را به شما رساندم و شما را پیش مردم، در خانه‌هایتان تعلیم دادم.

²¹testifying both to Jews and to Greeks repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus. TR adds “Christ”

²¹ من به یهودیان و یونانیان اخطار كردم كه آنها باید از گناهان خود توبه كنند و به خدا روی آورند و به خداوند ما عیسی ایمان داشته باشند.

²²Now, behold, I go bound by the Spirit to Jerusalem, not knowing what will happen to me there;

²² اكنون در بندگی روح‌القدس در راه اورشلیم هستم و از آنچه به سرم خواهد آمد چیزی نمی‌دانم.

²³except that the Holy Spirit testifies in every city, saying that bonds and afflictions wait for me.

²³ جز اینكه روح‌القدس در هر شهر به طور آشكار مرا مطّلع می‌سازد، كه حبس‌ها و سختی‌ها در انتظار من است.

²⁴But these things don’t count; nor do I hold my life dear to myself, so that I may finish my race with joy, and the ministry which I received from the Lord Jesus, to fully testify to the Good News of the grace of God.

²⁴ امّا ادامهٔ زندگی برای من آن‌قدر ارزش ندارد كه نگران جان خود باشم. تنها آرزوی من این است كه مأموریت خود را انجام دهم و خدمتی را كه عیسی خداوند به من سپرده بود، یعنی اعلام مژدهٔ فیض خدا به پایان برسانم.

²⁵“Now, behold, I know that you all, among whom I went about preaching the Kingdom of God, will see my face no more.

²⁵ «و اكنون خاطر جمع هستم كه هیچ‌یک از شما كه برای اعلام پادشاهی خدا با شما رفت و آمد داشته‌ام، دیگر روی مرا نخواهد دید.

²⁶Therefore I testify to you this day that I am clean from the blood of all men,

²⁶ بنابراین امروز به شما می‌گویم: اگر كسی از شما هلاک شود من مسئول نیستم،

²⁷for I didn’t shrink from declaring to you the whole counsel of God.

²⁷ زیرا برای اعلام جمیع مقاصد الهی به شما از هیچ كاری كوتاهی نکرده‌ام.

²⁸Take heed, therefore, to yourselves, and to all the flock, in which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the assembly of the Lord and TR, NU omit “the Lord and” God which he purchased with his own blood.

²⁸ مواظب خود و مواظب آن گلّه‌ای باشید كه روح‌القدس شما را به نظارت آن برگزیده است و چون شبانان، كلیسایی را كه خداوند با خون خود خریده است پرورش دهید.

²⁹For I know that after my departure, vicious wolves will enter in among you, not sparing the flock.

²⁹ من می‌دانم كه بعد از رفتن من گرگهای درّنده به میان شما خواهند آمد، كه به گلّه ترحّمی نخواهند كرد.

³⁰Men will arise from among your own selves, speaking perverse things, to draw away the disciples after them.

³⁰ و حتّی در میان خود شما افرادی پیدا خواهند شد كه حقیقت را تغییر داده، پیروانی را به دنبال خود خواهند كشید.

³¹Therefore watch, remembering that for a period of three years I didn’t cease to admonish everyone night and day with tears.

³¹ پس آگاه باشید و فراموش نكنید كه چگونه دایماً مدّت سه سال روز و شب شما را تعلیم دادم و برای شما اشک ریختم.

³²Now, brothers, The word for “brothers” here and where the context allows may also be correctly translated “brothers and sisters” or “siblings.” I entrust you to God, and to the word of his grace, which is able to build up, and to give you the inheritance among all those who are sanctified.

³² «اكنون شما را به خدا و كلام فیض بخش او می‌سپارم. كلامی كه قادر است شما را بنا كند و بركاتی را كه میراث مقدّسان اوست، به شما عطا فرماید.

³³I coveted no one’s silver, or gold, or clothing.

³³ من به پول یا لباس كسی چشم ندوخته‌ام.

³⁴You yourselves know that these hands served my necessities, and those who were with me.

³⁴ خودتان می‌دانید كه با این دستها زحمت کشیده‌ام و نیازمندیهای خود و همراهانم را تأمین کرده‌ام.

³⁵In all things I gave you an example, that so laboring you ought to help the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that he himself said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’ ”

³⁵ من عملاً به شما نشان داده‌ام كه ما باید زحمت بكشیم و ناتوانان را یاری نماییم. و سخنان عیسی خداوند را به‌یاد داشته باشیم كه فرمود: «دادن از گرفتن فرخنده‌تر است.»

³⁶When he had spoken these things, he knelt down and prayed with them all.

³⁶ وقتی پولس سخنان خود را به پایان رسانید، با همهٔ آنان زانو زد و دعا كرد.

³⁷They all wept a lot, and fell on Paul’s neck and kissed him,

³⁷ همه با صدای بلند گریه می‌کردند و او را در آغوش می‌گرفتند و می‌بوسیدند. آنچه بیش از هر چیز آنان را غمگین می‌ساخت این بود که پولس گفته بود دیگر آنها روی او را نخواهند دید. پس او را تا كشتی بدرقه نمودند.

³⁸sorrowing most of all because of the word which he had spoken, that they should see his face no more. And they accompanied him to the ship.

³⁸ آنچه بیش از هر چیز آنان را غمگین می‌ساخت این بود که پولس گفته بود دیگر آنها روی او را نخواهند دید. پس او را تا كشتی بدرقه نمودند.
